I finally made it to The Real McCoy in Scarborough! They're known for great burgers and more recently, great pizza so my friend and I had to check it out. We had their BBQ Chicken Pizza, topped with chicken breast, BBQ sauce, fried onions, and bell peppers. It was a pretty good pizza, with the ingredients complementing each other well. I usually prefer a thinner crust but this one was good. We also had their Mojo Burger, a massive flavour packed 8oz beef patty, topped with bacon and cheese, fully dressed with the works! It was certainly huge and delicious, cooked perfectly! We also had their Onion Rings, Fries, and Gravy. They were good, although I would have preferred a lighter batter on the onion rings. read more

Lacklustre. Prices have gone up slightly as expected but still reasonable. Fish burger is just not hitting that spot and I couldn't even finish the poutine. Minimal gravy and they don't use cheese curds here. Very disappointing. Gravy still the same and very good though. Hubby thought the mojo burger was fine. Not much change which is a good thing. Nonetheless we still gonna keep going to Fearless Meat on Kingston Rd for our home style beef and fish burger fix! Happy real mccoys is back open but just not hitting the spot unfortunately. I'm doing one last Yelp of a Scarborough burger joint with some history Sadly after 50+ years the place is closing this upcoming weekend due to the fact that condo developers have bought out the land....a sad state of Scarborough's slow gentrification process I went in early to beat the lunch crowd today .... Decided to finally give this place a try after hearing a lot of buzz about the origin and all. I'm comparing to ones that are similar to this place like Johnny's burger and Square Boys. We tried their homemade burger-$9.75 and homemade cheeseburger-$10.50. You pick your toppings but there are some that are additional cost like mushroom for example. The burger is quite a good size and meaty, probably around 6-8oz patty I'm guessing. Its not that juicy but not dry as well. When you order, you can guarantee to wait at least 15-20 minutes for your food. This location has a few seating available for twosome mainly. Sad that this place is closing but hoping to see them open up at a new location. It's been a while since I've been here and the prices have gone up as expected. They were super busy but still pretty organized and took around 20 min to get our order. I got the mojo burger with onion rings and poutine. The mojo burger was very good: juicy & tasty, with a nice flame grilled taste & fresh toppings. The bacon was crispy, tasty & generous. It needed more cheese though. The pepperoni pizza slice was big & had a lot of good quality cheese. There was enough pepperoni, though it didn't have a particularly special taste & the pizza sauce was ok. I have visited the Real McCoy on many occasions however this visit was extremely disappointing experience. As I always do, I ordered a Home Burger with only mustard and ketchup and a small French fries. I also ordered a Home Burger with Cheese with all the toppings and small French fries. Upon arriving home and opening the bag the buns on both burgers appeared to be squashed flat and ragged looking. The cheeseburger was made in the same fashion as my son's sandwich, only mustard and ketchup a thin slice of processed cheese. As I was going out I thought I would stop by to discuss my disappointment. Instead of offering an apology I was met with the suggestion that perhaps this was my fault because it was written as both had the same toppings on their receipt copy. Perhaps I should have been clearer when I ordered. There was no offer of satisfaction or apology. I suggested that at $37.00 for two burgers and two small fries, attention to detail should have been observed. Needless to say I likely will never return. I can buy ground beef and pork for a fraction of what I paid. read more

Reason for Visit: Had to visit the famous Real Mccoys. Menu: Was driving in area and I knew I had to drop by. THis is a local joint that everyone in the area knows. Been around for ages and they are known for their burger, pizza and fries. I got their pizza and it was HUGE. Stuffed with so many toppings. Their poutine is deadly good. I honestly wouldn't advise eating here too often only cause you might straight up get a heart attack. But honestly, it might be worth it cause they really perfected their art. It is not surprising to see their business was not affected during Covid at all as their take out demand is off the charts. Service: These guys are so efficient. I don't actually know how they manage to get an order for a pizza and have it ready in 15-20 minutes. Insane efficiency. Freshly made. The place is closing down by Dec 24, 2022 due to development in the area but it might be earlier than that. They said they'll hopefully open at another location soon. Heard they were closing business so had to come try before it happened. The guy taking orders was really nice. The burger was huge, it was definitely larger than the norm. Usually, after cooking the meat patty, it shrinks so the bun is larger than the patty but this one was the same size. The meat patty was thick and juicy. Have a choice of the classic toppings: pickles, lettuce, onions and tomato plus ketchup and mustard. The fries were thick cut and soft crispy, not amazing fries. The onion ring had a very thick batter layer, would not get this again. There were four guys there, eating then taking photos outside the place. A Scarborough establishment. Burgers are basically Harvey's but bigger and pizza is solid. No credit cards which is a pity. In this day and age of technology how a restaurant doesn't accept credit cards is beyond me. Just factor it in to your cost already. Nobody wants to carry dirty money around. The Real McCoys has awesome burgers and pizzas, but I would definitely recommend their pizzas as they have the best in Toronto! They are made with fresh ingredients everyday and they are very generous with toppings. I decided to get green peppers, beef salami, and onions, and the toppings were tucked inside the cheese for the most part. One of those sketchy places I would not have visit in the middle of the night (BTW, they opens till 1 AM, but closed on Sundays if you want one for midnight snack). I ordered the banquet burger and he ordered the whistle dog and we got a side of onion rings. Can I say that burger was HUGE and his hotdog was LOADED with cheese and bacon. Everything tasted amazing and I must say after all the burger spots we've been going to this one hit the spot. While waiting both gentlemen were very friendly and personable. We told them it was our first time and they right away told us what we need to get the next time and handed us a take out menu. All around a 5 star for both food an service.
