I got the bean and cheese burrito. It was pretty good. The only down side is it didn't come with a side of rice and beans. So, I ate my brothers rice. It was very delicious. The service was great here. Our waiter, Domingo, was very nice and helpful. The inside was clean to; except for the bathrooms. The bathrooms were not clean. There was dirt all over the floor. We are on a mission to find the best food around town. We pass by here daily and decided to stop in and give it a try. The server and service were good but we felt a little rushed. There wasn't that many people in the restaurant so I didn't understand the hurry. We ordered one of each street tacos, chicken, beef, and pork. The Real Taco is so legit. It's looks like a hole in the wall (so you know it's the real deal). I got the 3 tacos combo and chose fish, grilled shrimp, and birria taco. All super delicious. I recommend putting some avocado sauce to go with the birria taco and also the beef dip that goes with it. The combo also came with rice and beans. The rice is one of the top Mexican rice around. Some restaurants shockingly make them terrible, but not The Real Taco! Beans are smooth and flavorful. Wife got the brisket quesadillas and holy smokes - it was amazing. This is my second time ordering takeout here, and the quality of food is so delicious and consistent. For 3 street tacos, it's around $10 or less. But most importantly, the meats, tortilla, salsas, and sides are so well-seasoned. Each taco is packed with meats, onions, and cilantro, which ultimately make it quite filling. I recommend trying the birria tacos. The two menu items that didn't suit me were the asada tacos and tamales. I had expected thicker chunks of beef for the asada tacos, but it was more like ground beef. For the tamales, they weren't as moist and soft as I liked them to be. In OK for a work trip. Wanted Mexican food but after living in San Diego for thirty years I am a little skeptical when people tell me their spot is the best. This place isn't fancy at all and the service isn't over the top but the tacos were amazing! I had fish, shrimp and a birria. Review of Glenpool location: we really enjoyed this place! They have great hot sauces in a buffet type area that has onions, cilantro, limes etc that you can however much you want. The green hot sauce was my favorite! They also give you chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and was medium to hot. But had great flavor. I loved the chips because they were thick and not thin to where they broke easily. We got asada taco and quesadilla and pastor taco and quesadilla. The asada was really good but I was a bit underwhelmed with the pastor. It was really greasy and I didn't really like the taste of the seasoning. Service was fast and prices were great! They used to have enchiladas and other items - now gone. The salsa bar if you dine in didn't have the limes, pico, or avocado salsa like it used to. For the level of business I see them do when driving by, I guess tonight was a miss food wise or I just don't see the hype. I simply cannot fathom why I'm rushed in restaurants here in Bixby. There was no wait, no line out the door. From the moment we sat down, server comes up and we're immediately asked to order drinks. Next server came back took my husband's drink order for a beer and took off, guess that was my sign I didn't need or want a drink anyway. Date of check in 4/7/2023 Been out camping this week, didn't catch any fish. Back in town today. Need Mexican food and for some reason craving "Fish Tacos." We haven't been to The Real Taco, one of Bixby's best Mexican restaurants in a while. I asked the owner how the fish tacos were and the immediate response was "the best on earth." Naturally he would say that. What else would he have said "they are terrible and cause cancer?" Well, they were good. I haven't eaten that many fish tacos, but the best on earth may be a bit of a stretch. With my limited exposure to this version of a taco, I would only be willing to commit to "they are the best in Bixby." This brings up a new challenge for me. Where are the best fish tacos in the Tulsa area? Do You know? This is not a menu item that is in high demand and dominates the OkieMex restaurant scene. In my travels across NE OK I have not encountered a single restaurant with a sign outside that proclaims it to have the best fish tacos in Oklahoma. The winner in my mind would have to have grilled fish instead of fried fish and not served from a food truck. The search is on. My wife went with her favorite, two delicious tamales. read more

A few years ago while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, we took a guided tour of local taco vendors and were blown away by the amazing flavors. We assumed at the time that tacos were ruined for us, because you just don't get authentic tacos like that in Oklahoma. There once was a girl who loved bean and cheese burritos, and vegetarian burritos. She was a vegetarian, and she loved vegetarian Mexican food above all else. She ate thousands of them, countless meals made of a warm, crispy flour tortilla enveloping spicy rice, creamy beans, cool guacamole and oily cheese. Alas, that girl was told sternly by many medical professionals that she could no longer eat gluten, really needed to avoid the dairy, and had to start eating the dreaded meat. And so, she grew up, and rather than leave the beloved Mexican cuisine (the greatest in the world, according to her) behind, she began to discover the world of street tacos. Pillowy soft corn tortillas, piled high with chopped meat, a smattering of raw onions, and dusting of cilantro. Pickled carrots and radishes, and roasted peppers and onions, frequently accompanied these little circles of delight. Throughout California and the west coast, into the mountains of Nevada, and all across the Midwest, she consumed taco after taco. Occasionally a night of strong libations would overtake her doctor's order, and a bean and cheese or vegetarian burrito would be consumed, always with disastrous consequences. But she would return to her street tacos, and gleefully enjoy the myriad of meat and salsa combinations, atop those trademark two tortillas. It was not until she arrived in Oklahoma that she had THE street tacos. The street tacos of her life. The street tacos of her dreams. She ventured into The REAL Taco, in Bixby. A small place, off a main road, unassuming from the outside. A bit confusing, in fact. There were two doors. Were these choices for Heaven or Hell? No. They were just options for dine-in or carryout. The girl and her partner sat in a comfortable booth in the clean, welcoming restaurant. Street tacos were ordered. They were delivered plain: just the meat on HOMEMADE corn tortillas. Next to her was a bar of wonders, piled with onions, cilantro, salsas, roasted peppers and onions, radishes, and limes. She affixed her tacos according to preference: spicy red salsa on the chicken, avocado salsa on the beef, salsa verde on the pork. Her partner ordered three "red tacos," also known as birria, made to dunk into a trademark consome - a heady stock that simmers the beef for hours. As they each took their first bites, they knew their lives would never be the same. The flavors burst forth! The spices tantalized and danced on their tongues. The corn tortillas tore away under the power of their jaws, eager to consume more and more of the sweet, sweet "sabor." After what felt like hours but only lasted minutes, every morsel was gone. Exhausted, they sank back into the booth, furious with their pathetic stomachs for having such a limited capacity.
