My husband has celiac's disease and one of the things I love the most about the red Pearl is that they have a ton of gluten free options! This is a must try if you live or are in the Boulder creek area. read more

I stumbled upon this place after hiking starving with no service and it was so good I had to come back! It has an amazing cozy vibe and a patio so I was able to sit with my dog. The food is outstanding and you can tell this a spot locals love. Makes sense, the owner is so incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Definitely a rare gem in the redwood forest. read more

First off, I don't like Chinese food that much, but dang, I love this place! Jenny is always so sweet and remembers her customers. It's always quiet in there because it seems that people get their orders to go most of the time. I like to eat there and take it to go. Their szechuan chow mein with bbq pork is my go to but I have tried other things as well and every time I try something new it's always really good! read more

The service here is amazing - the staff is lovely and wonderful and super helpful. When visiting Boulder Creek, I've both eaten in and had takeout and this little family run small town restaurant has some of the best customer service I've ever seen. This small and genuine restaurant is a Boulder Creek institution. My BC friends and BC family have menu items they love - Walnut Prawns is a big favorite. I have had the egg rolls and they are delicious. read more

The owner seems to be there at all hours, and it shows. Clearly a lot of repeat customers!! The most tender broccoli beef I've ever had.... and I have eaten a lot of broccoli beef!! The menu is huge! I've already taken a few people, and everybody has thoroughly enjoyed each dish they tried. Plus, just driving through and around Boulder Creek in the San Lorenzo Valley gives the soul a complete refresh. Driving among the giant redwoods, you have to remind yourself that you are only 25 minutes away from Silicon Valley... and even closer to the ocean. read more

My son has been telling me about this restaurant for months, him and his friend go pretty often. Last night he asked if I wanted him to bring anything home for me. I asked for a beef chow mein not realizing how extensive their menu is as I would've tried a different kind of chow mein but that's OK. I can do that in the future. :-) He brought home leftovers of a family style meal and my chow mein. We had some kind of fried chicken pieces that had a sauce on it that was slightly spicy. I don't know what it was and he didn't remember, but it was freaking delicious! The eggrolls, crab Rangoon and potstickers were delicious even though they were a cold. The beef chow mein was so delicious, it had that old-school Chinese food flavor which I have missed, ya don't find that very much anymore. My sons and I joked its probably MSG but I really hope not. The fried rice was good too. I cannot wait to go there myself and try more dishes! The only downside is we're in San Jose and it's a 40 minute drive but it'll be worth it. Great food, low prices and large portions for the win! Thanks, red pearl!!! read more

Fantastic food... we had hot and sour soup, potstickers chicken, broccoli, and chicken Szechuan and it was all fabulous!! Five stars on the food! Jenny was an absolute delight and her dog, ginger, was too cute.. The crab Rangoon and almond cookies were also very delicious. The restaurant is well lit and very inviting. The outside seating was cool even on a hot day. Service was prompt and served with a very warm smile. We will be back.. best Chinese in the county! So glad we stopped in. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! We were visiting in town for a night and decided to give Red Pearl a visit. Jenny was soo accommodating, she stayed open late just for us and gave us recommendations as well as free soup and spring rolls! Placed a good sized order for dinner with my parents to pick up. First time trying this place in town and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. This is coming from someone who isn't a big fan of Chinese food and rarely eats the cuisine. Service was fast, food was hot and fresh and they were extremely kind - even gave us a handful of free items to try. They have an extensive menu and lots of veggie/vegan dishes. Not quite as good as it used to be (pre Covid I think) but this place is still really good and the only Chinese restaurant in the valley I will dine at. The egg foo yung is to die for. My first visit so ordered my favorite dish at Chinese restaurants--Kung Pao chicken. The server was friendly and when she took my order she checked with me to see if "spicy" is OK and I said yes. I was a bit surprised that at $20 this dish does not automatically come with rice, but I was OK to save a few carbs by skipping it. A huge plate of steaming food came to my table shortly. The first thing I noticed was that many of the peanuts in the dish had been burnt black. I had not seen that at any other Kung Pao dish over many visits with many different restaurants over the years. The spice level was OK for my tastes and the veggies were OK but the dish was missing the usual green onions that are common on this dish. As I was chewing I quickly ran into something in my mouth with the consistency of a rubber band. I spit it out in my napkin. Later when a staff member stopped by to see if I liked my meal. I said that it was OK, but she could tell by the tone of my voice that I was disappointed in the meal. I pointed out the white rubber band tissue that I had spit out. She said it was cartiledge and that they get the chicken breasts from a third party and then just run it through some kind of machine to chop it up so sometimes there is cartiledge in the meat. Hmmmmm. She asked if I wanted to take home my remaining food (I still had about half the serving on my plate) and I declined. There are only a handful of tables in a very small dining area and there is sparse but interesting decor. Parking is close to the door.

Well my wife and I wanted to take the kids out and enjoy the rainy evening. We have lived in Boulder Creek for the last 1/2 year, but I am kind of spoiled working in Cupertino with restaurants. We've passed the Red Pearl many times and tonight after reading YELP we decided to meet Jenny for ourselves. Having read YELP first, we were ready for the paper plates. You should also know that the ordering process and getting tea are a bit different too. Beyond that -- wow! Jenny was awesome, she remembered my name and thanked us at the end of the meal with extra take home soup, and some treats for the kids. We had Chicken with Curry Sauce and Hunan Beef. One of the things I really love about our little Chinese cafe downtown is that they have all the best beef dishes I've had vis-a-vis Chinese food. That's the real talent of this restaurant. Their beef-with-mushrooms, beef-chop-suey, Mongolian beef, etc. - they are an amazing culinary adventure that lights up my tastebuds like the front of a Vegas casino! I can't get enough of their beef dishes. I've been eating here for over 10 years and their beef dishes are their greatest strength (I've had some of their chicken and pork dishes but they're nowhere near as interesting and intense as their beef dishes). How did my stupid little town become graced with such a wonderful restaurant? The food here is some of the best Chinese I've had anywhere. Favorites include - BBQ Pork Spareribs, Crab Rangoon and Roasted Duck. One telling point is the Wor Wanton Soup, at most places the soup is a cross between leftovers and compost bin. Not here everything is fresh. The service is lightning fast. But wait there's more! To say dealing with Jenny the owner is a pleasure would be an understatement. I've been a vegetarian my entire life and always had a hard time eating Chinese, until I came here. Red Pearl is the best Chinese food I ever had, and it also happens to be right down the road. I usually get the Kung Pao tofu with veggies, hot and sour soup, and egg rolls or wantons. I recently got the red bean sesame buns and these are really good too, I'll be adding it to my usual order. Great higher quality food than other places. Jenny has a ton of vegetarian options, so my fellow veggies don't despair, you'll never get bored eating here. It's good food for a reasonable price, what more can you ask for? I eat here regularly. read more

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Growing up I never liked chinese food, but after trying Red Pearl, I find myself having dinner here more often than I'd ever expected. Seriously TONS of vegetarian options, I think the owner is vegetarian too, that'd explain it. Very reasonably priced, very excellent food, I usually get a few extra wantons on the house. Awesome. I especially love that this place has vegan and gluten free options and they will try their best to accommodate any special requests. We used to eat here often because the kids loved the orange chicken, and they are always generous with free egg rolls. However, our last dining experience I took a bite of broccoli that tasted like straight up ash tray. There is no doubt in my mind that the cook was smoking while cooking our food!
