Solid Chinese-Korean fusion place. The inside looks like it used to be an old sushi restaurant or something similar and it's next to a grocery store, but the decor is all elegant. The dishes are all well done and we especially liked the chicken wings aka the Dry Sautéed Chicken with Garlic Sauce. Didn't really know what it was called, but when I asked for chicken wings, the server, knew what I talking about. The Chow Mein was also well done and we didn't have any leftovers for that. I ordered the Peking Style Imperial Pork instead of the Sweet and Sour Pork, however I think he wrote the wrong thing down. Regardless, it was still very good. Must downgrade them to 3 star for lack of creativity, or too strict the cost control. We came, enthusiastically, for nostalgia and promised to come back. Now with a new group, we ordered some favorite dishes mixed with new. The "sameness" became apparent. Pretty much every dish came with the same ingredients and seasoned/sauced about the same. The owners of the original 同順園 (Tong Soon Garden) in Santa Clara has taken over Kiku Sushi and changed it to a Chinese-Korean restaurant with noodles and great appetizers as their main brand. They're still in soft opening right now so service was a bit slow but they're very busy with full tables and large take out orders. There's a soft opening special until 01/15/25 for $9.99 on Jajangmyun and Jjampong. We ordered the Jajangmyun and the Jjambong--both were delicious with ample seafood and toppings. Our server highly recommended their Kan Pung Gi (chicken wings) which were also delicious and full of flavor. Tangsuyuk was on the sweeter side but with a big serving of pork and toppings. Overall it's a pretty good place if you want casual good Korean-Chinese food in the area. read more

I guess I'd come again if I didn't feel like making jjajjangmyeon myself. This place used to be Kiku Sushi and it's okay. It's located behind some buildings and it's easy to miss. There's nothing wrong with the jjajjangmyeon or jjamppong. Both are tasty and they ask you how spicy you want your jjamppong, a considerate touch. We were the only ones there and nobody else came to eat while we dined. Service was nice and the food came out promptly. My problem lies with the tangsuyuk. It's tasty but they make it with pre-frozen chicken pieces. I'm tempted to drive past this place next time and go directly to H Mart, which is literally a quarter mile away, to buy some pre-frozen chicken at a fraction of the $23 they charge you for one serving, albeit large. Part of the reason I go to restaurants is to experience food I can't cook at home. Paik's does their tangsuyuk so much better. If you don't feel like driving to Santa Clara, this is worth a visit. read more

Service was good and the location was clean. The braised string beans were great. Very savory. Not a fan of the black bean noodles as it tasted too sweet and more tomato based than I was expecting. The noodles themselves were excellent, the sauce did not taste as good as it looked. The walnut shrimp came out hot and the presentation was good. The challenge is that they drizzled the sweet sauce that makes the prawns so delicious. I asked for more sauce which they graciously provided where it would have been great to have it provided up front. Overall good, where some small changes could make it much better. read more

Located in the back part of the plaza, has plenty of parking though! The sign still says Kiki Sushi but to the right is the entrance to the restaurant (had a neon open sign). There were about 4 other families there when we arrived for early Sunday dinner. The interior is large and spacious. We ordered jjajangmyun, tangsooyuk, chicken fried rice, and ganpungi (fried chicken). Everything tasted fresh (including the veggies in the tangsooyuk!). The portions were enormous and we ended up boxing leftovers to take home. The hosts were very responsive and friendly. Hopefully this place continues to draw in crowds! read more

Hidden Gem Alert! I stumbled upon this delightful little spot completely by chance, and I'm so glad I did! They had jjangjjangmyeon on the menu, which immediately caught my eye. And let me tell you, the food is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the black bean noodles - perfectly savory and satisfying - and the chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole experience even better. It has a lovely, open floor plan and everything was spotlessly clean. We love Korean-Chinese food and happened to be in the area. We've eaten at Tong Soon in the past so when we saw that the original owners have opened a new restaurant we knew we had to come by and try it. Plenty of parking in the plaza and the restaurant itself is cute and cozy with many booths available for seating. The owners were super kind to my family and were able to amen some adjustments for a few dishes to be made vegetarian for my partner. I had the jjampong which I would say is in my top 3 for jjampong in the Bay area. Lots of fresh seafood and the vegetables were cooked just enough to have that wok hei and still retain that delicious crunch. The noodles were springy and had a great chew, and the soup was umami without being overly spicy. It was so good I had to get another bowl to go! My partner had the mapo tofu made without meat, which was also very good. If we are in the area we will definitely be back for another meal. read more

I've been to tong soon before and remember it being pretty good.. the noodles were too soft and the toppings were soo skimpy. In our black bean noodle, I think we got like 3 shrimp total. We tried out this new restaurant by advice of a family friend. Overall food was very good. My son really enjoyed the salt and pepper fish with fried bits of ginger, scallions and jalapeño. The black bean noodles with seafood and green beans with pork were also tasty. They gave free kimchi on the side, which was excellent and tasted home made. I like the combination of Korean and Chinese flavors. Not very fancy but solid Asian food for every day meals. Unfortunately the location is not good and difficult to see from the main road.
