My mother and I went here for a facial and massage for Mother's Day. We were both very impressed with how clean, lovely, and peaceful the spa was. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. My massage was performed by a girl named Chelsea. She gave me the best massage ever! She did an excellent job getting all of the kinks out of my neck and shoulders. I next had a facial given by a girl named Daniela. I again was impressed with her performance. I found myself falling asleep on several occasions throughout my hour long pampering. I was so impressed with this spa that I signed up for one of their extremely reasonable monthly memberships. I can now have a massage or facial every month. The best part is if I can't make it one month I don't lose my service as it transfers over to the following month. I will most likely go every other month so I can have both the facial and massage together again. I recommend this place to anyone that is looking to destress and relax. I received my first facial from The Refresh Bar & Spa. I really had no idea what to expect. I was very pleased with the service. The products that were used are excellent. They are very affordable if you are interested in changing your skin care line. As soon as I am out of what I currently use, I will be going back for another 50 minute facial and I will also purchase some of the products that Lisha used on me. Been coming here for some time to get a quick blow out every now and again. I have thick, medium length, very curly hair and each time they make it look beautiful! Today I had Jessica and I have also had Jackie (spelling?), both ladies do a great job smoothing out my hair and make me feel great. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins for an appt and they are usually done within 45 mins. Love it! To top it off, the ladies at the desk always send me off with a awesome comment about how great my hair looks which makes me feel even more confident. I took my two daughters here to have their hair and makeup done for their homecoming dance. When we walked in, our greeting was awkward at best. We were not really welcomed and I honestly didn't even know which receptionist to talk to about our appointment. When my girls were finally taken in to get their makeup done, I went in with them. Due to the size of the Refresh Bar, there was no real place for me to sit. The women doing my daughters' makeup did not introduce themselves to me, nor was I offered a seat, so I went out and sat in the outer waiting room. After sitting out there for approximately 20 minutes, I decided to go check on how things were going (After all, I am the one footing the bill for this experience...). The makeup artists put on A LOT of makeup on my teenagers. I understand that this is necessary so the makeup stays on and shows up in pictures...but wow....it was really heavy...My girls were relatively pleased with their look, although both were a bit uncomfortable with how much makeup was put on them. I really don't know how much the makeup artists even talked to my daughters about what they wanted their makeup to look like. I think they just started painting faces and not listening to what my teenagers were going for. In the end, the makeup looked pretty in pictures, so I guess it was fine. Then, the hair. Daughter #1 wanted a half-up braided/curled hairstyle. I showed her stylist a picture of the look my daughter wanted. I would mention the stylist by name, if she had introduced herself to me (again, I am the one paying the bill...). When Daughter #1 was done, her hair looked NOTHING like the picture I showed the stylist. In fact, it looked like her hair had been done and then she went and rolled around in bed a little. It was a sloppy mess of a braid, and the curls were so loose, I knew they would fall out before we even took pictures for the dance. When I went to find the stylist to ask if she could fix it, she was nowhere to be found....gone!...I was not happy. Daughter #2 wanted her long hair curled (ringlets, I guess?). Her stylist (again, I don't know her name...wasn't introduced...whatever...) did a good job and the curls she did really looked like they would last forever. I asked her if she could fix up Daughter #1's hair, which she did, albeit reluctantly. She did not offer to fix the messy braid, but at this point, I just wanted to leave. Overall, the salon is really pretty, but the people working there need some lessons in customer service. There was not one bit of friendliness shown to my girls or me. I spent a lot of money at this salon, and I wish I could get a refund (especially for Daughter #1's hair....). I will most likely not be back, nor will I recommend this place to others. I would be embarrassed if I did and anyone was treated as I was, or received the subpar services my daughters did. read more

I was told that Carleen was the best, so for my wedding, I booked my hair appointment with her. I chose a very simple updo as the veil was going to go over my hair. I showed her a photo before and came in for a trial. The day of, Carleen tried twice and failed to do what I asked. I realized she wasn't able to do what I asked so I told her she can add her own twist to it, whatever is easier. The end result (3rd try) was a horrible mess. I specifically asked for a clean looked and what I got was messy. My friend who was there looked horrified. Rather than apologize, Carleen kept repeating that we needed to communicate better with each other (although I showed her a photo of what I wanted). After the second time she messed up, I asked her to redo it, she said, "Jesus christ!" and proceeded to try a third time. The end result was horrible. I called a friend who came to the hotel where we had the reception and she had to redo my hair. She finished at 5:30. Our wedding started at 6:00. I'm not a bridezilla by any means but this was the most horrible experience I've had in a while, and to think it was on my wedding. I wouldn't have written this review had she admitted her mistake. I'm mostly offended because she didn't admit it was her mistake and tried to blame it on me. I cannot believe I paid $60 for it! read more

I had a massage by Jesse - not only is he super great at giving massages but I felt so comfortable with him even though I have some back issues/pain. He asked me about exactly what was going on and was very thorough in finding out how he could help. ****THIS UPDATED REVIEW IS FOR THE MASSAGE SERVICE ONLY**** Quite possibly the worst massage I've ever had. First off, she had the roughest hands ever, it's hard to relax when someone's rough cuticles are digging into ur skin. I was itchy afterwards and I asked my bf to check what was up and I actually had scratches, SCRATCHES! on my back. Holy cow that's never happened. She also had the weirdest technique. I thought a Swedish massage meant long slow kneading strokes but she used short quick strokes. Weird. At one point she started rubbing my shoulder blade over and over, I thought ok maybe I have a knot but she went and did the exact same thing on my other side! Did she think my bones were knots?? Right from the start of the massage the white noise/music machine stopped working so I could hear doors banging and the ticking of the clock, normally if there's music or something I can deal with any background noise but the machine just stopped working, and not once did the masseuse attempt to fix it. And the last thing which really made me mad was that she gypped me a full 15 minutes! My appt didnt start on time but she didnt even work up to the time it would have ended had it started on time, she stopped 5 min before! I hate to give such a low rating cuz the place is clean and everyone is really friendly but I was so very disappointed. Some of the other reviews have mentioned Chelsea being their masseuse but she was NOT mine, I'll refrain from saying her name but please note it was NOT Chelsea. I maintain my higher rating for their hair services but I definitely will not be back for a massage. read more

Bought the Groupon for $34 50-minute massage for my Mom's B-Day. Called in same day to make appointment, great receptionist (don't exactly remember her name maybe Daniella). I asked her if it would be possibly to drop off flowers, a little snack, and a card for my mom to put on her massage bed when she went in...she gladly accepted and was so kind she even ask if they should refrigerate the snack for her since it would have been another hour before I brought my mom back to the spa. I cant speak for the massage, since my Mom was the one enjoying it, but she has had a lot of massages in her life and said this therapist was very good and would like to come back. She even wants to come back to get a facial for the intro first timer price of $35. A couple things that I did not like were: 1. They have a sign on the street saying The Refresh Bar & Spa was in that particular complex, but the building itself is not labeled. There are a few buildings in the parking lot and I would have been a lot more confident about where it was if the building itself actually had a sign on it (not just a sticker on the door). The building has another name company name written all over it, they share the building with a skin consultant/therapist company. 2. To that last point about them sharing the building...they even share the front desk. So when I walked in I was not sure which receptionist to approach. I approached the wrong one apparently because I received the most rude response to my comment. I approached with a smile and welcoming behavior and made a comment about how I was confused about where the spa was actually located. She gave me such a rude look and response "UHHH, whhhaaaat? Seriously?" . That girl has terrible customer service. I was just trying to help them with their marketing, seeing I am a Marketing Director for a multi-million dollar company...I thought I would give some friendly feedback about my experience as a customer. Thankfully I was noticed by, what must had been the manager from the spa on, the other side of the desk because she understood where I was going with my point and apologized for the inconvenience and helped my needs as a customer. Its a shame they have to share a desk with that other company especially with that rude receptionist. read more

Overall the experience was good. The salon itself is beautiful. They offer you coffee and water while you wait. I didn't wait long for my appointment. Both my hair stylist and my make up artist were sweet and kept open communication with me. For my hair, it was exactly what I wanted. Nikki, I believe did my hair. She was very sweet and made the whole experience nice. Throughout the experience she continuously asked me what I wanted. I was going for a full of volume, teased, curly blow out. Unfortunately, my hair didn't last throughout my event. I was disappointed that the curls began to loosen an hour into my event. For my makeup, Liz did my make up. I asked her for a natural smokey brown with lashes and nude lips look. My make up was okay. The thing I didn't understand was she didn't use any eyeliner. I always use liquid eyeliner on my top lid of my eyes. When I asked her if she was going to use eyeliner, she replied "oh honey we don't have to use eyeliner for your look today", but in fact it needed it. After everything was said and done, I made a comment about how I would have had like to see the look with eyeliner and she replied "It okay, this is a base with what you can work with...you can reapply lip stick or add whatever at home". So I wasn't too happy about my make up. Overall, 3 out 5 start experience. Would I go back, I don't think so. read more
