We ordered an appetizer and drinks and they drinks came out fast and were very tasty, however the food took a long time for all deep fried items. It's your ordinary quick bar food. The tiki bar area is spacious and has a lot of seating. Views are beautiful and the fans keep you cool on a hot day. It seemed like every bartender that worked behind the bar out there was in a bad mood and not very friendly every time we visited. The drinks were definitely not as good as they were at the indoor bar. If your staying at the hotel like we were and looking for a quick bite to eat that's right on the property I would grab a bite and enjoy the view. read more

First off, the waitresses and hostess here are freaking beautiful. They also do a pretty awesome fruit bowl. So that was the good news. Here's the bad. This is mainly a buffet dining experience so the beautiful servers, except for Bella, only come by if you track them down. It literally took me getting up and asking for more coffee, food and service. We didn't order the buffet so maybe it was better. But you would think that ordering from the menu it would have been better. My eggs were way over cooked and my wife's wrap was leaking a green greasy liquid. The atmosphere is nice, beautiful waitresses, so so food, pretty good coffee and they do a military discount. They also do a day pass but it's $40 person which is crazy. Again didn't have the buffet so maybe that is worth it. I guess this place is what you make of it as long as you're not looking for a great meal. read more

I ordered the cheeseburger with Mac and cheese. First, the Mac and cheese was a cheap boxed version reheated in a microwave with a slice of cheese on top. Horrible! Second, the burger came out like it had also been in the same microwave with two cold cheese slices on top. Don't waste your calories or money on this crap. Riptides was the very model of an adequate hotel restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the floor needed sweeping and the tables wiping. The oyster po boy was large and featured a generous portion of oysters, but had the slightly bigger aftertaste indicative of a deep fat fryer in need of cleaning, draining, and refilling with new fat. The house salad was good, and not just a handful of iceburg lettuce. The blue cheese dressing, however, was thin. Nothing was bad enough enough to tilt this review into 2-star territory, but the detractors were enough to keep it from 4-stars. Riptides is adequate. read more

Wow they really fell below the mark on this one... I got the Asian noodle salad.... I would think being on lettuce the noodles would be chilled... it was hot noodles and sauce and so my lettuce was wilted. Yuck! And to top it off the shrimp I added were those small frozen shrimp. When I said add grilled shrimp I assumed they were good sized and grilled, not sautéed baby shrimp. Hubby got the fried seafood platter, WAY too much batter. He ended up peeling it off and had a huge mound of it on his plate. Overall bad food and way overpriced, very disappointed, would not eat here again! Riptides is the restaurant attached to the Holiday Inn we stayed at in Pensacola Beach. We took advantage of the tiki bar by the hotel every day, and the inside bar during bad weather. We had breakfast one morning, and it was very good! I wasn't in the mood for scrambled eggs, so I ordered off the menu instead of the buffet. I'm glad I did, since too much of the greasy bacon would've been a bad idea. We also ordered from the tiki bar, and it was pretty quick. I wouldn't have gone out of my way to eat here, if I wasn't staying at the hotel, but no complaints! read more

This place has great food and it's convenient if you are swimming at the resort or on the beach. The servers and bartenders are attentive and quite personable. The bartenders make their drinks with a generous pour . The crab cakes are, while not Maryland style, very delicious, the quesadillas were tasty and quite plentiful. The shrimp appetizers are good. We didn't order the sliders, but saw them delivered at the bar and they looked very good. The fries are terrific and some of the best I've had. I recommend this place to get a filling bite to eat! read more

The burgers here are amazing, but they definitely use the same oil to fry everything. The French fries tasted like fish. Not good for people with food allergies. Service was so-so. The furniture and feel of the restaurant was laid back and comfortable. The prices were not terribly high compared to other restaurants on the island, but expect to pay more than average. read more

Restaurant is located in Holiday Inn Resort. Breakfast buffet is great! The only thing really worth eating for dinner or lunch is the burgers, they are very good - the rest is not great. Kids eat free with purchase of adult entree. Service is friendly but food is a little slow to get to you. I never expect much beyond average for any hotel restaurant. Gladly, Riptides has changed that expectation! Their food is fabulous, starting with an all-star breakfast which was fresh, delicious and plentiful. We went back for a lunch and a dinner and always walked away impressed and satisfied. The surf and turf salad was fresh with plenty of shrimp and steak and the seafood combination dinner was tender and tasted fresh caught. It's so nice to know that if you don't feel like leaving your hotel, you can still get an excellent meal! They just need to coordinate their wait staff a bit better. There were times when the servers seemed a bit confused on who had which serving area. Bang up job, Riptides! read more

Food is mediocre, the service is horrible. Just gotten a burnt burger and the server didn't even apologize, went to the kitchen and told the chef to "take your time man, it's not burnt" without thinking that it was an open kitchen and I was sitting right there. After I spoke with the manager, I asked the same waiter to "please bring me some napkins". He didn't even respond to my request although I was being courteous, a trained server will certainly replied by "let me grab one for you right away", and unfortunately, he did not acknowledge my request verbally at all. My family has eaten here many times now just because of the convenience and since I am staying at the resort for three weeks due to work, but this waiter is beyond rude and disrespectful. There're some staff at this resort seems to be careless about the hotel guests, and in an service industry, this is a unacceptable. The management can't keep making the meal complimentary for the guest when the staff is the problem. Ultimately, the problems lies within the management for the ill-trained staffs. read more

If I could have given it zero stars I would have. Just got here today- ordered fries, buffalo chicken strips & a chicken quesadilla. After 35 min got fries & plain chicken tenders with BBQ sauce on side (server tried to tell us it was buffalo sauce) and no quesadilla. Took two people to get a side of buffalo sauce & another 15 min to get quesadilla after being told our order was now next- it was obviously never put in. Will not come back! read more

While staying at the Holiday Inn Resort for a long weekend, we actually had planned on leaving the resort and going out for our meals each day because we weren't expecting much from this place. (Let's face it, most hotel "bars" don't have the best food!) But after our first meal, we were very pleasantly surprised by the food and service at Riptides. We ended up eating all but one of our meals there! We ordered lunch each day poolside... so convenient and yummy! Then we would eat dinner there each night sitting outside as well. Highly recommend the sliders, the crabby patty salad, the Mahi pasta, and any of the burgers. We had the most AMAZING waitress out by the pool named Christina! She brought us drink after drink, never keeping us waiting. She was so personable and gave us great drink recommendations. (Loved the Bloody Mary!!) An added bonus was our kids ate free! All in all, I definitely recommend this place if you are staying at the Holiday Inn Resort! If you go, ask for Christina! read more
