Plus it's a bit tucked in off Bardstown Road compared to other businesses just a block or two away. This place isn't huge and excluding the recently closed Freddies, it's the smallest bar that I know of. But it's large enough to hold a crowd of perhaps 40 people comfortably, large enough to have a pool table, and it has decent sounding speakers playing your songs off of the TouchTunes Jukebox. It does have several mounted television usually showing sports as well. The place is laid out what brings to mind a shotgun house- you step in and what you see straight back against the far wall is it. But it brings people a bit closer and with the varying types of crowds that sometimes show up, it's nice to mingle with people you normally wouldn't with at a larger bar. Left Field Lounge has many beer bottles but also has a rotating selection of multiple beers on tap including some craft beer. I've been served by different bartenders and service from all of them has been exceptional. They've answered questions when I was unsure about certain beers, and they've had some great recommendations and given me samples to make sure I would like the choice. And they have all been really kind people persons. The place could use a bit of upgrades, it's a bit of an older place, but it has all that's needed to have a good time. Music, TV, a pool table, and if there is no one else around, the bartenders make great conversation if you need it!

It is a small neighborhood bar that has quite some years on it and you can tell. I was greeted by the hosts for the shuttle bus and got a complimentary beer for choosing Nachbar as my pick up location. I did get my complimentary beer and left a generous tip. They had Nords Donuts for food for this event. Beer and Donuts? Very odd combination, was hoping for The Post Pizza or something that was real food. It was free so no complaints other than it was an odd combo. Note: they don't serve food at Nachbar. The inside is kinda dated and there is good seating. Bathrooms are set up like Mag Bar and Kerns Korner. IFYKYK. The outside is more spacious than the inside. They do have a nice patio. As for the inside it looks cool and they have plenty of board games and plenty of local beer on taps that you don't see at most bars. I wouldn't come here on a regular basis but, the local beer selection is a hit with me.

We ordered a few cocktails along with the hush puppies, Cajun calamari, and Brussels sprouts. The drinks were fantastic, and while the appetizers were good, they weren't quite memorable enough for us to reorder next time. That said, we're definitely planning to come back and explore more of the menu. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend checking out Black Rabbit for yourself. Since this restaurant has a speakeasy vibe, I thought it might be part of the schtick. However, I'm not sure how long the business has been open, so maybe the GPS was accurate. Our dinner host who made the reservation had told our group the "password" in order to be taken to our private dining room. When I arrived and approached the hostess stand, she took me via a convoluted route to the rest of the diners, no password required. I guess I was lucky because other diners in our group said they had to provide the password. We arrived during happy hour and it was also martini night, so several items from the appetizer menu (wings, spinach dip, tempura shrimp) and cocktail list were available for reduced price. I ordered tempura shrimp (5 pieces) and a glass of Malbec. The shrimp were bland and were served with a sweet chili sauce that was cloyingly sweet with absolutely no heat. I ended up ordering a bourbon roasted pear salad as my main. It was a better choice with buttery lettuce, chunks of firm pear, crunchy walnuts, and pickled red onions. One of my fellow diners had to wait for her first course appetizer to arrive well after the rest of us had finished ours, as it was either overlooked by waitstaff or the kitchen. Service was slow at times, although the place appeared at not even 1/2 capacity when we arrived and possibly 2/3 when we left 2 hours later. Another diner ordered pizza and said that the toppings were good, but commented that the texture of the crust (underdone) made it unpalatable. Finally, another person in our group had to send her food back to be heated. She indicated the plate was warm, but the food (pot roast Manhattan) was not. Final bill was just under $50 (happy hour shrimp $10, wine $11, salad $18, and an automatic 20% gratuity had been added). Upon reflection, I would perhaps return here for a cocktail to enjoy the lounge and live jazz when that is offered. I would be very hard pressed though to order any food, as there are many more valuable and appealing options nearby at this price point.

They called my brother a "privileged white boy" and then proceeded to devolve in middle school insults towards our mother who wasn't even present at the time... I cannot even begin to tell you the Jerry Springer/Dr. Phill shinanigans that went on last night at the Pearl.... But like many fancy pearls that are taken in for appraisal, this bar turned out to be a disgraceful imitation of what the city of Louisville is meant to be. After telling the people who worked at the establishment to please just go inside and lock their doors to stop further antagonizing my family, the man with the horrible bald fade and limp pancake hair flipped my dad off behind the glass door. If you want drama and a scene? This is the bar for you. If you're looking for somewhere quiet to share a couple drinks and catch up with family... Steer. Clear. All the windows are wonderful but also make it so so cold in there you need to dress warm or you won't last long. There is a fire place in the center but it doesn't emit any heat unless you touch it. This is a great place to work at, catch up with a friend, or digest a drink. I think the drink service starts at 3 but the room is available way before that. It's off the left of the lobby and will have people working in it during the day.
