Mashed Potatoes are served piping hot and melt in your mouth.
Lauren A.

Our first time dining at Cask & Cleaver was a sheer delight. Our meals were incredible. I had the Bourbon Braised Pork Short Ribs with mashed potatoes and they were without a doubt the best ribs I have ever had. The carrots on the side were also outstanding. The Caesar Salad was very large and between that and the dinner rolls served with a very flavorful cinnamon butter, I ended up taking most of my dinner home. My friend had the Marinated Flat Iron Steak, which was also delicious, as were the brussel sprouts. I love the dining room, they opened up a door during dinner hour and after that it was very comfortable, although also noisy. Our server was very attentive and friendly. This is one of the top five meals I have ever had at a restaurant, so Cask & Cleaver will be our first choice for a special occasion, nowhere else in the Skagit Valley even comes close for fine dining, in fact there is not even a close second. Hats off to the chef!

Ribeye with glazed carrots and mashed potatoes.

Celebrated Valentines Day here. Reservations were made well in advance and we're easy. Parking can be an issue with downtown a happening place. Ordered drinks and a salad to start off with. Both ordered ribeye steaks, mine with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots, hers with Mac and cheese and broccoli. Steaks were cooked perfectly to order. She loved her sides. I was happy with the potatoes, prefer my carrots less done. Finished off with a dessert. Interesting layout. Table was tucked away with vision obscure. Pretty noisy place when full.

Big upgrade for this location! Classy but comfortable elegance in a totally refurbished environment. Very robust bar selection, and special drinks!

Food was amazing. Service was impeccable. The ambiance was warming and unique! The price is more than reasonable! A great date night that won't break your bank account!

Highly recommend the roasted carrots as a side! The mint is a delicious, unexpected touch. The steak was wonderful and perfectly cooked.

Great food. Good service. Definitely try the sirloin and the Wagyu zabuton. Very flavorful with a great sauce on the sirloin.

I stopped in on "Black Friday" on my way to a medical appointment…read more The Porterhouse Pub was open and had a few tables occupied, so there was no problem getting seated. I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. It was sweet with a little tart aftertaste. For my meal I opted for the Porterhouse Cheese Curds as an appetizer and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries for my main dish. The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn't think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn't think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!! I was very tempted to order a slice of the chocolate cheesecake with housemade fudge for dessert, but I was stuffed by my appetizer and meal.

The service was fast and friendly, and the prices were super affordable. I especially appreciated that they had one of my favorite seltzers, from Stemma Brewing, on tap! We enjoyed a couple of appetizers. The calamari was crispy and delicious, and served with a side of tasty aioli. Although not quite enough aioli, as we ran out about half way through the calamari and had to order more. (Tbh I was kinda surprised when I saw they had charged us for the "extra" aioli.) The hot artichoke dip was good, too, though the portion was pretty small for the price. I'd come back again, but maybe during happy hour as it might be a better value.

Last year I had a great experience here. This year not so much…read more It started with a long wait at an unmanned front desk. And continued with another long wait before making first contact with a server. I felt the razor clam chowder was expired. Too fishy to be fresh. Too salty. I didn't eat this. The full cup was removed by some server; no inquiry if it was good. The dry aged bone-in ribeye came overcooked (medium well instead of medium rare); but what was worse was the tough, chewy quality, lack of any beef flavor, let alone any hint of actual dry aging as advertised. Instead it was woefully overseasoned. Mashed potatoes tasteless....the fresh bread on the table made for a better side dish. Here, the server did ask and later offered me a free dessert to make up for it. I feel I could have easily rated this 2 stars - the place lived up to being in a Casino - but the view of Padilla Bay and Mt. Adams very much upgraded the experience again. Unless last year was an outlier, I would wildly speculate it went downhill due to a change in chef.

Our waitress was timely and very friendly. Very informative on any menu questions we had. Our food was very good! I had the carnivore plate, and my girlfriend had the bruschetta. Both were very good! This is the second place I've been to recently that has had carnivore options on their menu. Their drink menu is very extensive, they have a great tap list, and a great mocktail list. The only reason they are getting a 4 instead of a 5 is that they were out of several of the ingredients to make their mocktails they had listed on their menu and we went their specifically for the mocktail menu because my girlfriend can not have alcohol at this time. Great place, great food, and great service though.

The place was full during happy hour, which was ending shortly after my arrival, so I quickly ordered a Manny's (no happy hour pricing for craft beers, sadly), and their happy hour spicy Asian shrimp. The beer arrived cold and, soon, those beautiful, sizzling hot shrimp were sitting before me. It was the perfect appy to tide me over until dinner later, and just the right blend of crunchy and spicy. Highly recommend! Soon my friend arrived and we caught up on old times while she enjoyed a glass of chardonnay and I had another Manny's. I did look over their dinner menu, but the prices felt a little high (as with most places nowadays). Judging by how good those happy hour shrimp were, though, I can definitely see myself trying some of their other food when I return. Oh, by the way, the service was awesome and super friendly. We sat at the bar and were well taken care of.
