good food, pretty vibe inside, live music was unexpected, but good, maybe a little loud for my taste

I think this place has real potential with someone pulling in the reigns and being present to watch the restaurant. We had multiple small issues. Timing was the biggest issue and not updating costs versus charges. Increases happen but posting them is important for transparency. So, let's review. Issues #1 Bartender/Server was nice but very distracted with other things and there were only 3 tables including us. Had to wait for refills for 5+ minutes while talking to an employee at the bar. We got up and grabbed a pitcher of water finally after 3 requests. They noticed and apologized. 2. Food requests where not completed although not world ending still kitchen needs to be paying attention for people with allergies it could be huge. Requested no onions came covered in onions. Ordered bacon on the burger no bacon. Other small issues not huge but annoying. And dessert that was ordered was left on the bar rail for 10+ minutes before being dropped off. 3. Pricing. I have a tendency to review where I am going online prior to eating out. Pricing on the online menu and reality when arriving most things where higher priced at the restaurant. I did ask they had price increases a couple months ago. I don't set my budget off online pricing, but it does set an idea of costs. Desserts were a large issue with this as the menu and online are different than the current pricing in the restaurant. Now to the food. This is why I think they can pull this out with some effort. Although I was mind set on a Prime Rib sandwich I was told they were out. I was given a few recommendations glad they did. Appetizer, I got the jalapeno popper dip and the brown sugar mozza bread. Both were hot and fresh when they came out to the table Dinner Smash burger had great flavor and although not what I think of as a smash burger it was well built and the flavors where there. Fresh veggies and the home fries were what I was looking for. Also have at least one person upgrade to the Brussel sprouts because I generally hate them and these were amazing. Fish was hand breaded and had great flavor for fish and chips at the price I will get this again. Chicken Chili is a must if you like chicken chili thick and flavorful it is almost a meal in itself. Dessert Everything is made there. The pistachio Tiramiso was perfect flavors were perfect and fresh. Cherry cheesecake was on point also. We will be back again in the future and hopefully things will be running a little tighter than now. I think this could be one of the top 5 in this area with some elbow grease. read more

What an amazing/fun experience. Valentine's Day was perfect and wouldn't have been as great as it was had we not made this reservation and come back to one of our favorite places. Amber made our evening more fun... she definitely made us feel valued and appreciated by taking such good care of us. She not only knew the menu incredibly well, but an uplifting and positive energetic connection. What a beautiful gal! Max was a genuine host from the moment we walked through the door until he was off shift... caring, happy and good people :) The food was absolutely amazing. We finally got a chance to try this place tonight. The restaurant was beautifully decorated! The service is outstanding! We started with the Dungeness crab dip and it was excellent! I had the 1933 Smash Burger and I highly recommend you try it! Hands down one of the best burgers I've had! My husband had the fish and chip and it was fresh and delicious! The drinks were spot on as well. We ended our meal with cherry cheesecake and the banana pudding parfait. Omg so good! We will most definitely be back soon! read more

Not sure if they were short staffed Sunday night but there was only one bartender who was also doubling as the waiter for all tables, so wait time was a bit longer but that wasn't a big deal. We went to celebrate our 41st Anniversary. French onion soup was scrumptious! Tatar tot casserole was not that great- wouldn't order again. For dessert we tried the Berry Rhubarb cobbler!! This is a great date night spot. The ambiance is fun, with lots of plants (which are unnecessarily fake considering they would probably do just fine with the amount of light streaming in there from the high windows, but who knows). Our server was also the bartender which meant service was a little slow but we were in no hurry and she explained to us how much time went into every drink. They were beautiful drinks and tasted great so she's clearly very good at her craft. We had the trashcan nachos and a smashburger, both were delicious. They split the burger for us which I did not expect but wholly appreciated. There was a table with 6 super loud kids at it that unfortunately put a bit of a damper on things as it is a small restaurant and really not a place for a rowdy group. Based on the full parking lot I thought we'd be waiting a while for a table but we got right in. I'd definitely recommend this place for a small party of 2-4 or even alone at the bar. I have been wanting to try this place and so happy I did! Marquette was our bartender and server and he was the best! His first words were, "I'd love to make you delicious cocktails or get you some food!" We got some Kampagnes and I ordered the Tater Tot Casserole. My friend got the lemon pepper wings. She got her wings, they were really good, but if I was blind eating them I would never guess they were lemon pepper. They just tasted like regular wings, but with flavor. After an order mistake my order came out and Marquette was nice enough to give a discount due to the error and we got to talking about these "delicious cocktails" and "bartenders choice". So I let him surprise me with a "bartenders choice" with rum. I was not expecting such a great drink. I had such good food and such a good drink but the combo didn't go well, so of course I chose the drink and took my food to go. The tater tot casserole is amazing though. Omg it is savory, creamy... that shit is good! I brought it home and gobbled it down with my husband. Sad I didn't get a dessert, but I'll def have to go back to try one! My wife and I stopped into 1933 for lunch while in the area. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. 1933 offers a couple larger tables near the back for those with large parties. 1933 specializes in classic cocktails. Menu is small and perfectly simple. There is a dessert case to grab a dessert for home in the event that you are full from your meal. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm; $5 beers and 50% off small plates and house wines. Stemware is unique and reminded me of the prohibition era. I appreciate that spirits are served with the choice of an ice spheres or ice square. While looking over the menu, I sipped on a glass of Librety Chard for $10. My wife sipped on an Espresso Martini for $16. For lunch we shared the Smash Burger for $17: two patties, onion, dill pickle, white American cheese, house sauce on a brioche bun. We chose the Caesar Salad as our side. Our burger was messy and absolutely delicious. The shaved parmesan cheese in the Caesar salad raises this standard salad up a notch. After our meal, my wife enjoyed a Jameson on the rock. Our server was fabulous; friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Overall, 1933 is a nice little spot to drop into if in the area. Been here twice now and had the most amazing meals. Brown sugar mozzarella bread is so good- and I get the wagyu baseball sirloin- best steak I have ever had! Also the shaved bacon Brussel sprouts are incredible. The staff is very nice as well. read more

Jovani was very attentive & his bar keep skills, stellar. From the smokey old fashioned to a few options with Mezcal (hey this girl likes her mazcal) we were happily buzzed. We started the food rolling with salt & pep wings & mozz bread. The hubbs enjoyed a chicken cobb salad. I had the create your own pasta with gargonzola & blackened chicken. If you lean that direction just know the chicken is chopped into small pieces. The pasta was quite literally drowning in sauce which is fine for spaghetti bit this gargonzola would have been much more enjoyable lightly applied. Just a tip. Overall Go, check them out. Parking lot outside and cool dinner club vibe with chic black colors and neon lit bar with the dessert case at the front door giving off an Americana vibe. Hat's off to the pastry check for delectable options, but you really could have bought me for a quarter when I saw the Indiana sweet cream pie. First time at 1933 Bar + Kitchen. Sat out on the patio as it was a lot cooler than sitting inside. The restaurant overall was cute & hip. It also has a full bar. Service was good, waiter checked up on us couple of times. The menu doesn't have happy hour, which was ok, so we decided to order from the dinner menu. Ordered the Caesar salad with blackened chicken, the nachos and side of fries. The Nachos with shredded chicken - was ok. The shredded chicken was drenched in BBQ sauce, which made the nachos a bit soggy. We wished there were more toppings. It felt like it was just cheese, shredded chicken and bbq sauce. Caesar salad - can't go wrong with the salad, overall had no issues. For the blackened chicken, I was expecting grilled chicken but it came out in lil chunks and seasoning was more like a chipotle style. I know they're new still trying to adjust and add and what not but two of us felt like there was a LOT to be desired from our visit. They could have had a bad/off night, but this is just from our one experience at like 8:30-9 pm on a weekday. Ambiance and mood was cool, prices for what we ordered I felt were a bit high but maybe there's more to the dishes.(maybe they use organic or handmade ingredients I don't know about) Presentation on the pastas could have been a lot better in a shallower bowl but I felt there was nothing special to it at all. Definitely didn't think it was worth the $32 comparatively to other restaurants we frequent in quality and tastes. Ordered jalapeño poppers, it was two peppers, halved and mostly raw, with some cream cheese spread and small amount of bacon. Again not worth it comparatively. Cheese bread was super good! Everything else I've seen pictures of looks great, and we were super excited but we thought it just lacked a lot of the quality we're use to eating out locally from here to SeaTac. maybe they didn't have a good night, maybe we should have ordered something else. ‍ Give it a try yourself. read more

This is the second time visiting this place and as a server I hate to leave reviews but the service is awful. Terrible service. I'm not sure if it was a staffing issue or because it was St. Patrick's Day, but overall it was very disappointing. We had a reservation for outside seating (with a $25 no-show charge), but were seated inside instead. Not a huge deal, but it seems like a basic detail to get right. Our server was very nice, which was a plus. However, we ordered a crab dip and soup as appetizers, and the soup was never entered. When she came back to take our entrée order, she asked if we still wanted it--I said yes--but it still never came. I ended up asking for it to-go when our entrées arrived. Our food was initially delivered to the table next to us, and our server only checked on us once during the meal. I also ordered a plain hamburger with French fries to-go. When we were ready to leave, I had to ask for the check. They brought a small box for my full prime dip sandwich and no container for the dipping sauce. After handing over the check, it was returned to us unpaid, and we had to ask another server (who was also very kind) to process it. We expressed our frustration, and while they did offer a free dessert, we were ready to leave at that point. To top it off, when I got home, my "plain hamburger with fries" was actually a cheeseburger with tater tots. read more

Good service for sure, friendly and prompt, and the cocktail program is ok. The food is not so great. The steak in the steak sammie was tasty enough - I know, because it promptly fell through the stale, disintegrating roll it was inside, so I ate it with a fork. The side salad had brown lettuce and the dressing was viscous and not very good. The "trash can" nachos came served in a paint can, which our server dumped onto a plate in front of us. Cute, but it would have been soooo much cuter if they had been good. The nachos were smothered in a white chicken chili, (which shows up on a number of their dishes, be warned) and was bland, served on stale chips, under temperature. Mysteriously, the desserts are excellent. We shared a rich, creamy chocolate mouse, which was almost enough to make us forget about the rest of the food. Almost, because that chicken chili they're so proud of came back to say howdy a couple hours later :( So: go for the drinkies and pro service, even the odd Ram Sports Bar-meets-Industrial Hipster Joint- with a side of Yuppy Fern Bar ambiance. First time here! I've been wanting to try for a while, finally made it. Started off great, Entered and was greeted by a hostess, and we opted to sit outside as the inside was very warm and muggy. Outside has a cute gazebo area with lots of string lights and tables. Very nice vibe. We decided to get a couple shared plates, she told us they were 50% off as the football game was on. We tried the jalapeño popper dip, garlic bread, and the chicken wings. Let me tell you, the deal of the show. Is that garlic bread! It was absolutely delicious. I never thought to put brown sugar on garlic bread, but it gives it a great little sweetness. The chicken wings were good, good size, but seem just frozen from a bag with barbecue sauce. At least they were big for the money. Lastly, we tried the jalapeño pepper dip, this had decent flavor, but the texture was like cat food. There was a lot of jalapeños around the side. It was not too spicy. It was barely warmed and she's on top with half melted. Chips were nice and salty. Not sure I would order the wings or the jalapeño dip again. We didn't want to try some entrées, we ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and the white chicken chili. The Caesar salad salad was nothing spectacular. The chicken we got on the side and it was beyond dry grilled chicken. Almost an edible. The chili was good, had great flavor, but was barely warm, and the cheese was not melted on top. Overall, it was decent, but not sure we would come back again as there's lots of other options in the area. Service started great with him not worse and we had to go find somebody to ask for boxes in a plate as being on the patio, they did not check on us very often. Made same-day reservations for a belated Galentines celebration, and 1933 was the perfect spot. The interior vibe is to die for, and we had the ideal high top table to take it all in. We were looking for drinks and small plates, which they had the drinks procured to perfection. The espresso martini was decadent but their champagne + blackberry liquor drink stole the show, and our server was so accommodating to give us the best experience. The menu didn't offer too many fresh small plate/appetizer options so we opted for the wings, naked with the sauces on the side (the South Carolina bbq sauce is where it's at). The French Onion soup and the Chicken Chili is definitely worth returning for. We ordered some sweets from the dessert case to take home. Went to 1933 Bar+Kitchen after seeing it several times while driving. Very unique experience with your personal bar tender taking care of all your needs! Service was very good and helpful. The drinks (forgot photos) were all very tasty! Everyone in our group of 4 loved the cocktails! We all did kind of a share on the food. All the food was very tasty and scrumptious. I do wish The Chicken Pot Pie had peas and carrots in it, (which is maybe a childhood memory of mine and people love it how it is), and the Steak sandwich needed cheese in our opinion. Do not get me wrong, I would eat both again in a heartbeat. It is a great place and would be perfect for a date night or meet up spot! We will definitely be back! read more

Updated moody modern decor; black paint, greenery, bronze gold hardware, brick, crystal, "speak easy". Ordered a cosmopolitan, an old fashioned, Carolina bbq and lemon pepper wings, a house smash burger, and jalapeño popper dip. All were delicious and didn't go to waste. My family and I stumbled upon this new spot and were seriously impressed! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a chic, upscale vibe--and a dessert case that immediately catches your eye. (Pro tip: order dessert first, because we were way too full to enjoy it after the meal. Rookie mistake!) The menu centers around smash burgers but also includes pasta, soup, and salad options. My husband ordered the 1933 Famous Smash, and it did not disappoint--crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. I had the curry sauce mussel dish--unexpected and absolutely delicious. I could honestly drink the sauce on its own; it was that good. For families, the kids' menu is a total win. Our kids loved their meals, and at under $10 each, they were both tasty and a great value. Our server was warm and super helpful, offering great suggestions that we were glad we followed. It looks like the restaurant just recently opened, so it's still a bit under the radar--but I don't think that'll last long. With food and service like this, it's only a matter of time before word gets out. One thing to note: it's definitely a destination spot. I came here with my family of four with 2 young kids on Friday evening. We were really excited to try this place because we've been in a serious restaurant rut and were bored of eating at the same three places that we normally frequent. We were seated right away. I immediately noticed the gorgeous dessert case right by the front doors. The selection of sweets looked absolutely mouth watering. I also don't typically notice ambiance/decor too much, but this place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL with all of its plant-themed decor. Just stunning. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. No complaints at all with the service. Here's where they lose points: They have items on their website menu that are not on the menu in the actual restaurant. Halibut Fish & Chips is one item off the top of my head. So I was a bit thrown when the dish I had wanted to try was not actually on the menu when it was time to order. And while I appreciated the child friendliness of the kids menu, the art hanging above the toilets is NOT child friendly. Hanging above one of the toilets is a large framed enlarged. photo of a woman in a tiny top and no pants sitting on the toilet with her panties around her knees. She is drinking alcohol out of the bottle. Hanging over the other toilet is the same half dressed woman sitting on a toilet with a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of booze in the other. I'm no prude, but the art was tacky and just didn't really make sense with all the other classy decor. They also have some beautiful salads on the menu but a weird selection of dressings. No thousand island, no Italian, no vinaigrette? It's kinda a bummer when you spend $20 on a salad and they don't have most standard salad dressing choices. The positive? I ended up getting a smash burger and it was freaking TASTY. Best burger in town, no doubt. I'd for sure go back for another one of those. And that's saying a lot considering I didn't want to order it in the first place, but their menu was missing the item I had anticipated ordering and nothing else was jumping out at me. I just wish there was the option to customize them by adding bacon, avocado, an extra patty etc. Lastly, when we had finished our meal, I got up to take another look at the dessert case. I was pretty sure I was going to order something. Everything looked positively decadent. But then my server approached me and asked me if I was going to get dessert. I said that it was so hard to choose, and she said "I know right? The lady who makes them makes them like every three days." And I was kind of put off by the idea of spending $10-12 on a dessert that might have been sitting in the case for 3 days. So as much as it pained me to do so, we ended up skipping dessert. We stopped in here after hanging in the sun at haller park and playing in the river. Lived in marysville for some time and always drove by the place. Decided to finnaly stop. We got the trash can nachos, which comes in an actually paint can "that waa obviously clean" and pulled the can off the nachos.. and holy smokes. The nachos were layered perfectly. Every bite was full of all the ingredients. Honestly top 5 of the best nachos I have ever had. For sure Recommend. My wife and are damn near full from just the appetizer. Huge portion for a great price ! Our hostess was on point. Told us to find somewhere comfortable to sit. Very response and observant. Was not pushy, super helpful and nice. We've eaten lunch here twice now and had good service and delicious meals both times. We love their decor, the inside layout with 21+ area and family friendly area and outdoor patio that's dog friendly. They have a nice dessert display case right inside the door and the baker came out and let me know what the options were. We bought some bourbon bread pudding and GF fruit mousse to-go and shared it with our family and everyone thought it was delicious. The only disappointment was that we really wanted the only 2 things on the menu that they've eliminated. New menu coming. Excited to check that out too. read more

Drawn by a Facebook post to a "upper end" new eatery in Marysville. Had to check it out. Parking was unpaved, and a bit sketchy in my tiny car but doable. Black painted brick, neon sign and heavy rusted door. So far so good. Greeted when we walked in, and I was surprised how busy it was on a Wednesday night. I was also pleasantly surprised at the vibe. Brick, black and white with gold and lots of greenery. Not what I'd see in this part of Marysville. Small menu, interesting choices (tater tots casserole?) but I settled for fish and chips which tasted fresh but was a bit greasy. Hubby got cheese bread and sliders, both were yummy. The drinks were good, I got a bramble that was rosemary heavy but yummy and my husband got a pumpkin spice cocktail and since he got two it my must have been yummy. I'm impressed overall, I will admit I didn't have high hopes considering it is Marysville. Nice work. read more

Updated review as of 9/15/2025: I've been to this restaurant a total of 3 times and have had wildly different experiences each time. The first time we went was a Sunday around 2PM. Quick, attentive service and delicious food and drink. We had such a great time we brought some friends along on a Friday evening, around 6PM a couple weeks later. Now with this being 'prime time' (Friday dinner time) without a reservation, I expected a bit more of a wait. What I didn't expect was the 40 minute wait for us to get water and drink order, and then another hour for food. Once we finished eating, it took another hour for our check after asking the server multiple times. The experience as a whole left a bad taste in my mouth but was willing to chalk it up to it being an off night or busier than their staff is used to. That brings us to last night. We decided to go in on Monday evening, around 7PM. It was pretty quiet and we were seated and provided menus quickly. I was looking forward to reordering the beef stroganoff but when we opened the menu, half of it was missing and the beef stroganoff was no longer an item I could order. There were two pages that were entirely blank, which struck me as odd. Before the menu had a variety of pastas, burgers, sandwiches, and 'comfort' foods. I ordered the white chicken chili and my husband got the smash burger. When it got to our table, my husband's burger had a hair hanging out of the side of it...not the most appetizing. I had only noticed it because I thought it was a piece of melted cheese. My chili was mediocre and a bit too salty for my taste. Overall, I'm hoping this restaurant pulls through this rough patch and finds some direction. The menu seems a little confused on if it wants to be casual or elevated casual dining. read more

The bread that came with the dungeneous crab dip was insanely stale and I hate sending things but but when we got new bread it was so beyond crispy that it hurt to bite into... and the dip was literally 3/10 (and we're not hard people to make love a dip) anyways long story short I see the potential of this place it's a cute spot but the menu needs a serious revamp of quality. read more

A friend and I went early in the afternoon and service was great! We were lucky the baker behind all the amazing desserts was there and talked to us several times. Shame shame shame. Well here is my rub on this place. We had great service for the 6 of us. Received the bill and the machine was set to very low % for the excellent service. So I decided to tip more. I Tipped to 20% on the machine. To find out looking at my bill they added a 18% large party of 6 fee On my bill. The parking lot could use some work--after a heavy rain, it was nearly impossible to get in and out of the car without stepping in a deep puddle. However, once inside, the place was stunning. The interior design is impressive, with a boujee vibe created by stylish seating, fun hanging lights, and greenery draped from the ceiling. Upon arrival, we noticed a sign instructing guests to wait to be seated, but there was no indication that bar seating was open. This led to a brief moment of confusion as we stood at the entrance for about two minutes before being greeted and asking if we could sit at the bar. Initially, there also wasn't a drink menu nearby, so we had to wait for the bartender to bring one over, making the start of our visit feel a little unorganized. Once we got the menu and our drinks, though, everything smoothed out. We ordered the Tropical Underground, a smoky Mezcal drink, and the Lavender Lemon Drop--both were well-crafted and visually stunning. The presentation of all the drinks and dishes was impressive, making everything look tempting. For food, we had the BBQ sliders and French Onion Soup. The sliders came on a fresh, soft bun with great flavor, and the soup was rich and satisfying. One of the standout details is their in-house pastry chef, who creates fresh desserts daily. They looked amazing, and while I couldn't have any, I'd love to come back if they ever offer a dairy-free option. My husband and I came here last week and enjoyed a meal! The smash burger was good and the fries were hot. We shared the pulled pork sliders and brown sugar cheese bread - that was the star imo! The cosmo was solid too, very friendly staff. We snagged the last slice of Twix cheesecake and it's the only thing we didn't devour before snapping a photo lol. They were very busy on a Thursday evening because of a birthday party, but we got seated at the bar in less than 15! I love the atmosphere and that the bar is the focal point of the space. The ambiance is nice but the food was average. The Stroganoff was really good but hardly worth the $30+ dollars. The jalapeño poppers were tasty but as others have mentioned, undercooked. Tasted like a raw jalapeno....needs to be fire roasted for a longer time. The Caesar salad full order was definitely plenty for a meal. The dressing has a strong sardine taste, more than usual. I didn't mind it but the wife asked the server about it prior to ordering as she doesn't like a heavy sardine taste. unfortunately she was told it had a mild flavor. This was not the case, wife ended up not eating it. The green salad was good, their ranch sauce was really great. Finally, the French onion soup...This was a great dish but again, $15 is simply not worth it. Major cons: long wait time for food even though the restaurant only had 3 tables filled. The parking lot is atrocious ...had to navigate several large puddles through a muddy/gravelly lot. Not a great first impression...should have allocated costs to a paved lot. Would definitely enhance its curb appeal and the feeling that you are walking into a higher end establishment. This would help support the prices. Overall, I would return to try out other dishes and enjoy the atmosphere. Not a go to restaurant for me yet. The main reason being is that the food is overpriced for being just average and wait time is extensive. Couldn't imagine how long it would take if the restaurant was busy.
