The staff treated my grandpa with respect and kept him comfortable. I felt relief with him in their care.

They did not know how to roll a patient to give a bed bath, they didn't know how to place a patient in the bed so the patient did not slide down. The second time she spread feces all over the bed with her dirty gloves. I would not recommend this company under any circumstances. The Only thing that could improve Memory Matters is when they are blessed, to get an upgrade for their very much needed & well deserved own building. The entire community will be blessed with benefits. More like The Entire County! Janet & LuAnn are simply Angels ! Just to meet them is a blessing. Anyone who knows them I'm sure feels the same. My 1st encounter with Memory Matters was back in Oct 2021. I met Lucy & Joyce at a street type fair event. They were wonderful with my mother & I. These women were so kind & informative on what they do I just fell in love with the organization. The world needs more of these volunteers. I Highly encourage anyone to contact someone here & go check this place out. Get a tour, play games, have lunch, do crafts. Give back & Enjoy life .

Property sold March 1, 2024, and the transition has not gone well for residents. Directors have all been replaced. All is not as it was projected and is not looking up at the present. Many residents and families were disappointed but tried a "wait and see." I am not endorsing this Pennant/Pinnacle owned facility. I doubt they care very much what I think. My YELP community does. Type of care: Memory Care... The most vulnerable residents. Cleanliness...inconsistent Care of resident...inconsistent. Weight loss. Meals... (3 daily, no consistent snacks available or offered) food is forgettable and inedible). All residents get the same meals regardless of any dietary restrictions. Exercise or mental/sensory stimulus..inconsistent if at all. I'm giving care staff benefit of the doubt. Overwhelmed and overworked. Assuming tasks not qualified. Caregivers with an enormous list of daily routines. Currently 1 Caregiver for 8 (wing occupancy 18) with 1 medtech (that floats) during the day. Maintenance tasks incomplete. Facility now looks unclean and weathered. I am sure there is a corporate response on how to skate close to the edge of the law. It is just wrong and not a good look for an employer. Activities/outings have declined. DON not visible or accessible. The biggest overall incident is DON and Ex Dir being absent from the facility at the same time on vacations without adequate replacement coverage. Not bad after 6 weeks in the new location. Of course this was denied by corporate, yet no one saw the ghost "fill-ins". Office staff are doing the best that they can learning new systems and corporate environment. Hats off to those brave souls still trying to make it work. I fear those that are trying will be replaced soon. As every good management team knows, "it all stems from the TOP." The behavior is set. The buck stops there. You can only be as good as your weakest link. I am not inserting pictures, naming names to further embarrass anyone. Small community, news travels fast. Optics are not looking too great. How do you come back from this? Honesty and transparency would have been nice. Slash and burn putting residence at risk? Not so much.

He was on hospice at the time he was admitted here and passed away two days later on Wednesday, 7/27/2022 so his time here was cut very short. Kamie was amazing and made everything so easy and convenient despite my dad's passing. She made sure we were taken care of and truly made the process a memorable one (in a good way of course). I would definitely recommend this facility for anyone who requires assisted living or memory care in the area. R.I.P. Richard Charles Lane

The Retreat at Sunbrook has taken wonderful care of my mom since December of 2019. My mother, who…read moresuffers from dementia and is in the Enhanced Care/Memory Care section at Sunbrook, has thrived since moving into The Retreat, pre-Covid. The staff has taken great care of my mom and their services are outstanding. The Retreat is well staffed, with a good ratio of CNAs to patients (there are currently 12 patients in Enhanced Care). The facility is clean. The rooms are spacious and well designed, which is important for those residents needing memory care. There is always a nurse on staff, and there is always a med tech who manages medications (my mom takes several medications). The Enhanced Care area is secure with a door that locks, and that's comforting to know, since some of the residents there are "flight risks," and need to be in a secure environment. The Retreat can well manage those residents with physical disabilities (my mom is in a wheelchair) and because there is such a good ratio of CNAs and staff to residents (especially in Enhanced Care), the staff is there to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents, with and without physical disabilities. The food is delicious and the chef can accommodate most with special dietary needs. There is a common area where the residents can socialize and thanks to Kaitlin the activities director and her assistant, Megan, there are always activities and projects for the residents to stay busy working on, and there are activities designed to help residents with their cognitive and mental awareness, sensory and memory, creativity, individual worth and spiritual health, and developing friendships. The residents get along well and are friendly towards each other and look out for each other (as much as they can in Enhanced Care). Each of the rooms looks out on a patio, and there is plenty of light that comes into each room. Overnight, there are staff members who regularly check on each resident to make sure that they are safe and comfortable during the night. The on-site nurse is very knowledgeable and accessible, and the managers are directors are accessible and professional, as well as friendly and helpful. Honestly, I could go on and on about how great this place is. It's also beautiful, with a lovely outdoor back patio and fountain that provides a quiet place to go (there is also a special secured patio for the residents in Enhanced Care). The kitchen area in Enhanced Care is communal, and the residents sit 3 to 4 to a table and eat together. This is important so that the EC residents maintain friendships, can gather and not feel so isolated, and those who need help eating (like my mom) can get assistance from the CNAs who always stay and help during mealtime. The staff at The Retreat is very accommodating to individual residents -- my mom has a hospital bed that she sleeps in and needs a fall mat under her bed and needs oxygen, which the nighttime CNAs always set up for her when they tuck her in at night. The Retreat also allows for service providers to come in and offer physical therapy, hospice care, speech therapy, and other activities. Monthly themed parties upstairs (Valentine's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Easter, St Patrick's Day, etc) with the residents who do not live the Enhanced Care party allow the opportunity to mingle with new people. As for Covid protocol, The Retreat makes sure to regularly test staff and residents (who show symptoms or fall ill) and goes to great lengths to protect the health of all of its residents and staff. Visitors are required to sign in and do a temperature check before entering the facility. This is extremely important to protect the health of all the residents. What a wonderful place The Retreat is and my mom is so very lucky to live in such a remarkable, fun, safe, comfortable, and healthy place where she can thrive.

So, we moved forward with hope, faith and a positive attitude...of course God guiding us! What I have noticed since working with the team there, they have been nothing short of wonderful, caring, knowledgeable and welcoming to both my dad, me and my hubby. The building is clean, the apartment my dad chose is nice and they've gone over and above to include my dad in activities and accommodations. My dad's a Veteran (on a 3yr waitlist for Ivins). The activities Director at MVE invited my dad to partake in the annual Dream Flights last week. It was incredible and so special for him and us to witness. My dad has been over the moon since. They've posted pics on their Facebook page. I understand the frustration of overturn in employment, but I can also see how it's a very hard industry to be in. I can't imagine all the hard work and genuine care these earth angel workers must endure daily to ensure our elderly loved ones are in good hands. While it's only been a month, right now, I happily give them 5 stars. I personally experienced their kindness. I've hugged them all knowing they're helping my dad and I can see the honest care they have. My dad simply couldn't be on his own any longer and a move to us wouldn't be good on him health wise. I am his only family and live in HAWAI'I. It's not easy to keep an eye on him from across the Pacific. At 85, he can be grumpy and certainly has no filter. He calls it as he sees it and he's reported to me privately that the team has been wonderful to him. His excellent care is all I can ask for. Nice work Mesa Valley team! I appreciate you all. The tour (measured by the guide's enthusiasm) was obviously not high on the list of things to do that day. The virtual tour had more excitement. If giving a tour sells your facility to a potential family your heart needs to be in it. What sets Spring Gardens apart? A library, a crafts room, a theater, an ice cream bar,, a dining room? It seems cuisine are touted as being the best at all the senior living we visited. No one showed us a sample of a meal, or offered a thirst quenching beverage. We were told we could purchase a meal coupon...not the right answer for a family about to plop down several grand a month. A better demonstrated tour is in order. The tour showed sizzle...not the steak. The missing star is the "service" in setting SPRING GARDENS apart. It didn't and should have. I've demonstrated many products and services to thousands of customers in 35 years...this tour eeds to be polished and focused more on what the family member needs, rather than THIS is what we got. It was a whiplash tour. But thank you SPRING GARDENS for your time. Maybe the residents should do the tours.
