We were early for our dinner reservation this past Saturday evening, so we popped into The Rickey around the corner for a quick cocktail. Somewhat unamusing from the outside but beautiful atmosphere inside, spacious, with a lounge-y vibe. The cocktails were very well made, and thus took some time. Came here for happy hour and based on the wait times to get our food and drink, it felt like they didn't even want to take our money. We started asking for water as we looked at the menu, and followed up three times over the course OVER 1 hour to finally get some water. They actually never came out with the drinks we ordered (we eventually gave up) and we had to beg for 1 diet coke. The happy hour prices were good though, I would've tried more things if they would have given us our whole order. The food came out quickly and was pretty yummy; I'd recommend both the lobster empanadas and truffle parmesan popcorn (only $5 each)! The guy taking our order was super sweet, but I could just not understand with 15 customers how it would take so long to get to us. We tried to make eye contact with a waiter throughout the time we were there and they obviously noticed us and were actively avoiding coming over. I don't think we were rude customers at all, and we weren't under-ordering either (we just never got our stuff) On top of all of that, it was super dark and hard to see anything. Came in for a pre-Carnegie drink. The bartender ignored me for 10 minutes and left the room and the bar unattended twice. Then another bartender came in, ignored me for a few minutes, then helped the couple that arrived after me first. Then, I waited to see if he would come over to me, and he didn't, so I flagged him down to ask if I could order. I ordered a Pinot Noir and I saw him starting to pour a Pinot Grigio, so once again I had to flag him down. I also ordered my check with the drink, which - shockingly - was not brought. Once again, I flagged down the first bartender to ask him for the check and he made a dismissive gesture saying he was busy, even though there were 5 people at the bar including myself. I stumbled onto The Rickey while looking for a holding position while waiting for friends from a nearby hotel. The atmosphere and decor are really remarkable. They dimmed the lights and lit candles. The couches and seating sections overall looked comfortable and intimate (conducive to a little date night *Hint* *Hint*). The bartenders were very welcoming and offered immediate assistance to me. I did note that service at the bar was a little faster than service to tables so beware of that. I had a couple of their drinks which were stellar. They really seem to be good mixologists. I had no complaints up to this point. However, the Cacio e Pepe small dish was not good. It immediately gave me a strange stomach pang but I figured that was from not having eaten all day. The problem is my upset stomache continued into the next day. That was the only thing out of the ordinary in the last 24 hours before. So stay away from that dish! Bottom line: Go but beware of the food. Grab a drink. Chill for a little while and then head out to another venue for dinner. read more

We came by for HH only -- the lounge was basically empty, there was only one other party inside -- so we had our choice of seats. They had nice coffee tables for each seat in the lounge area, and the couches were pretty comfy (some are single seaters, some are two-three seaters). There's also bar seating. There's a long list of cocktails to order from, but you can get $1 truffle grilled cheese with the order of a cocktail during happy hour, so check out this deal if you get a chance. The portion size is fairly small (4 thin strips), and it also comes with a sweet jam, but for $1, it is an amazing deal (and it tastes really good!). The drinks were tasty and refreshing as well. It is a tad awkward they make you pay and tip right in front of them (staff member didn't even let go of the POS machine) when you're closing out, but other than that, it was a pleasant experience. read more

It's a small place attached via a small door off the dream hotel lobby. Service was pretty bad. Lots of employees standing around but poorly trained and not wanting to be there. I made reservations which weren't needed as nobody was there Friday night. Aesthetically, the place is well done. Bar stools are gorgeous. The charcuterie board for $26 was a great value and we wished we ordered that first as we didn't need anything else. But we loved the grilled cheese and filet mignon skewer (two pieces) was tender and well marinated. Not sure if there was alcohol in the drinks, so there's that. read more

I never enjoy writing less than 5 star reviews. I have a strong disdain for complaining and negativity in general, especially when it comes to restaurants, but I have to be honest at the same time when visiting these establishments. I'll start by saying that The Rickey is absolutely fabulous. The decor is lovely, it's spacious, and has a light-hearted atmosphere. Every bartender, waiter, etc. that I encountered were beyond friendly and accommodating. Seriously, other than my issue, I loved the place, and had every intention of returning. Here is my issue: I ordered one cocktail. It was a gin martini, made with a British gin called Boodles, tonic, and lime. This drink was served in an average coop glass, which is normal. While the cocktail was nicely made, I do not think it was worth $22. Seeing that this drink was not on their menu, there was no way of me finding out how they came up with the price. I looked at their cocktail menu, and saw that none of their other cocktails were $22. So the gin & tonic martini that I ordered must have been really special or something to have cost more than all of the other cocktails on their menu. I didn't make a fuss with the bartender. I paid, AND still tipped. I do feel slighted though. Where did this price come from, and why? Perhaps I just need to return during happy hour? Aside from Happy Hour, a gin & tonic with a splash of lime, in a coop glass should never cost $22. Again, lovely place, but that $22 for my cocktail was NOT the vibe. I even looked up the price of 750ml of Boodles British gin on Google, and it costs less than 750ml of Hendricks, so it's not like this gin is rare or super special. I was immediately attracted by the $1 grilled cheese happy hour sign outside The Rickey. Inside, the ambiance is dark and classy the way I like it - made me forget that it was still bright outside. Sadly, they were out of the $1 truffle grilled cheese, so instead they gave us another menu AND grilled cheese when the ingredients arrived, all for 1 or 2 dollars! So obviously, service is top-notch. The drinks are really good and pretty too; cute menu with lots of unique flavors and tasted great. I'm so happy our group stumbled onto this place because I would consider this a hidden gem for after dinner drinks. We came here after an early dinner and the atmosphere is definitely very intimate, adorning vintage elements in its decor. It's was practically empty when we went but this place does take reservations, so I'd imagine it gets busier during the nighttime. Drinks were very unique, and I appreciate all the different options and new combinations I wouldn't have expected myself to enjoy. I'd recommend the Fearless Agent drink which contains balsamic vinegar, an unexpected yet wonderful flavor add to the drink. Overall drinks were on the pricier side, but I definitely think they were worth it. We were able to grab seats at the bar. This is as around 1030/11pm ish . By the time we left- definitely- a lot of space. Inside is stylish although very dim. I liked it but downside was lighting for my fabulous photos was not that great lol. But anyway- I loved the inner decor A mix with some 80's and 90's alternative and pop played that night . Someone who loved the Pretty in Pink soundtrack definitely put the list together lol. New order, psychedelic furs , INXS etc . I enjoyed it They serve tapas/ small bites . But I didn't try any since we just had a full Korean meal. But I will post the menu - see photos . Now getting to the good stuff... The coasters are DOPE. Brass and "the Rickey lounge" on them The staff was attentive! Greeted not long after we sat down. Sandro was our bartender and he was great. Makings of a great mixologist. Confident but not cocky... Being a cocktail connoisseur- watching him make our cocktails was a joy. He really put effort into making the cocktails. From the firm shaking ... the exactness and precision and making the sugared rim to the garnishes. 5 star service alone! I had the Lavender Girl which I enjoyed . Gin cocktail . We stopped in for drinks prior to dinner, we ended up finding this awesome lounge, located in the boutique hotel across the street from ours after leaving the rooftop bar due to the humidity and heat. After walking into the bar I truly felt as if we were going back in time, the interior has a wonderful old world charm, it is quaint, more intimate than anything and extremely comfortable. The bartender was very personable, easy to talk with and had a great personality. I was hoping to find a very dark stout and followed a recommendation from the bartender. The stout was extremely dark with note of chocolate, it was on draft and extremely smooth. They were playing quite a variety of music, it was quite relaxing until the rap music came on, listening to rap music in this environment was like throwing gasoline onto a fire to extinguish it. Stumbled upon this gem and my --- it is a gem! Best drinks, loved the atmosphere & couldn't get enough. This would be my cheers-bar if I was a local! Great speakeasy vibe drinks, well-made. The bartender heard me say Mezcal was a favorite and had a specially off-the-menu crafted cocktail. It did not disappoint! Cannot wait to come back to NY to visit this spot again. Came here for drinks after work for my coworker's goodbye gathering. It was pretty busy for a Thursday but we managed to snag some seats at the bar. It looks pretty intimate, definitely great for a date! There are couches and small tables and that speakeasy vibe. All the signature cocktails are pretty pricey in the ~$17 range but it's clear that they had a lot of thought put into them. I got the Cartel which had pineapple and coffee flavors. I also liked how the ice cube in that was coconut water so as the ice cube melted, the drink slower got sweeter. I also got the Pomegranate Rickey which was a sweeter drink and has frozen pomegranate seeds in the ice cube. Not sure this would be my new to go place, just because I personally find the prices a little expensive but if you're a cocktail fanatic, I highly recommend checking this place out at least once! read more

This bar was great! We are staying at the hotel that's connected so we stopped in during happy hour. Justin was a fantastic, attentive bartender! The drinks were delicious (we ordered a walnut sazerac and a pomegranate Rickey) and since we were there for happy hour, we got a grilled cheese sandwich with truffle oil and the artichoke kale dip.
