Anytime I spot hot chocolate in any given café menu, I'm tempted to order a cup. It's a weakness. That's how I ended up at Ridge C., nestled right on the ever-bustling Main St in New Paltz. I popped in one winter lunch break and was hypnotized by the promise of that cocoa comfort I love. Ridge C. isn't just another cozy café. They have an entire wall lined with spices and loose-leaf teas in clear, labeled Mason jars. It's like a tea lover's dream. I was in my element. But let's talk hot chocolate. The first time? Disappointing. Bland. Still, I gave it another shot. This time requesting they go heavy on the chocolate. Nope. My 'heavy on the chocolate' request slipped into thin air, because round two was just as bland. Tip: Parking on Main Street is a nightmare and the meter maid's out here like it's a sport. I love a cup of tea too much to not stop into a shop like this. This tiny, cute, tea oasis and covered wall to wall in spices and loose leaf teas. It's is nestled in this small little one room house. Everyone working here was so kind and friendly and took the time to give me a few whiffs. I ended up brewing a mix of blood orange and two types of mint as a cup of tea to go, and even took a small bag of loose leaf home with me. The brew he concocted was so flavorful and the right mix of orange and mint. Perfect for warming me up for another walk on a very cold day. The brewing took a few minutes so I was able to grab a seat, smell a few more teas, and await my hot tea to go. A few things to know! There was only one or two seats, so this is not a cafe to sit and relax, definitely only a grab and go. It is right off of the main street so not hard to find at all. If you are a fellow tea lover, you'll be keen on this great little spot. read more

Great staff, great ambiance, drinks are delicious with many inventive options that make creative use of the shop's extensive array of spices and teas, as well as skillful execution of coffeehouse staples. I usually get an oat milk cortado and it always comes out perfectly. Their baked goods also rank among the best in town. It's so small lol. Because it's so small, it took forever for us to get our drinks. I asked for mine sweetened and I barely tasted anything in it. There is nothing special about this place I've been to other tea places or cafes that are better more spacious and quicker service. They did have a lot of flavors but that's typical of a tea shop, and there's enough of those around the 845 area lol. I probs wouldn't return. I was underwhelmed overall. read more

New Paltz local here! I am so excited to have this place in the village. They have locally roasted coffee (a quick chat with the owners made it clear that they know their coffee), local pastries, and an AMAZING selection of loose-leaf tea and bulk spices. LOCATION: It's a 2 min walk to Church Street and Main Street shops and restaurants, and a 5 min walk to Water Street Market. The vibe is welcoming, clean, bright, and modern. They also have outdoor seating and high quality speakers by the to door to play music, which is very nice because the shop is located on a main road. EXPERIENCE: I got their sparkling iced tea (spicy hibiscus) which was AMAZING, and something I've never had before. I will be getting one of these at least twice a week. The owners are super nice and really knowledgeable! They were happy to talk to me and make recommendations based on my preferences. I can't wait to go again and buy some tea. read more

Everyone working here was so friendly and helpful. I ordered the masala dirty chai and my partner got the spicy cucumber lemonade. Both were so delicious! They had pan de bono (Colombian cheese bread) which is one of my favorite little treats so that was a nice surprise. read more

Just stopped in on a whim after seeing this new- to- me tea shop open and so happy we did!! Boss lady owner was super helpful in helping us choose from all the delicious loose leaf tea options and was obviously very knowledgeable about the product. A Thai chai latte for me and a more earthly blend for my husband.. both absolutely delicious and very unique. Alternative milks galore- they have soy, oat, macadamia and pistachio. Also have espresso drinks on the menu and a selection of spices available in bulk. Aesthetic inside is lovely and would be the absolute perfect stop on a fall or winter day! Lovely little spot recommended to me by the folks at the Annex. Went with my partner to grab a quick cup of coffee before headed out on a hike but left with two wonderfully hand-crafted drinks. My companion wanted to try matcha for the first time so the barista suggested adding bit of honey and lavender to mellow out the experience. I noticed their large array of tea, and my go-to is usually a dirty chai, so I asked what tea she would recommend to mix things up. I got their coconut chai-blend and it was sweet and spicy, the perfect companion to a shot of espresso. The barista/ owner really has honed her craft and put effort into the details of our drink. She used a matcha whisk for the lavender matcha and had a timer set for the steeping of my chai. If you want a drink made by a knowledgeable, friendly business owner, she really hit the mark for both of us. We'll see you on our next visit. read more

Okay so I literally never leave reviews. But omg. Go to this place. Today I had the most magical, delicious tea, with butterfly pea and calendula. The espresso I had later on was fantastic. Took home the milk & cookies tres leches, which I just ate, and honestly I'm gonna remember that dessert forever. That's what pushed me to leave these stars. It was THAT good. I absolutely love this Shop. I moved to New Paltz recently, and I love visiting this place. The drinks are always so refreshing and lovingly made. One of my favorite things about this shop is their seasonal drink specials. I have currently been indulging myself in an iced peach oolong and almond oolong tea mixed with seltzer and an add-on of fresh peach puree ( which is worth the $1) They use fresh in-season ingredients and pair them perfectly with their fresh teas. I came in for a mocha (recommended to me by the local chocolate shop) which was delicious, but once inside became intrigued by the display and selection of teas. We stumbled across this new tea shop and was such a delicious and pleasant surprise. I'm ordinarily a coffee person, but my partner and I got two tea-lattes and they were delicious! Based on our preferences, the owner recommended to us a jasmine/rose latte and a hojicha/(something I don't remember) blend and loved how they were well balanced, not too sweet or overpowering - both very subtle. I will definitely go back the next time we're in town. The staff is also very friendly and the place feels very clean! read more

I am at New Paltz for a couple days and this is my favorite place in New Paltz. They have huge tea selections and also their coffees are so delicious. I wish I could live here and taste their all good stuff everyday. I highly recomend this store. read more
