A friend of mine put me on to this place. Ever since then, this is my go to place for rice platters(chicken or lamb over rice). I know they make other dishes as well such as burgers/gyros/fried stuff(wings, mozzarella sticks, fries, etc.) Whenever I'm not getting my usual, I get their chopped cheese sandwich. All their items are priced really well seeing as how much food they provide. Except service and the guys that work there are super cool too. Definitely a place worth trying if you're tired of eating the same thing all the time. They don't just sell meats, they're a full on Deli as well. read more

went here for some cold cuts after a swim. were greeted pretty quickly when I entered, I ordered a Italian combo on roll, got say they are very careful in asking you what you want in your sandwhich, so they glad they are though. while waiting, I noticed they have a lot in this little bodega for sure, I saw snacks and drinks I don't see in other stores. I started having problems digesting the meat I've been buying at Tops so I decided to splurg and go to Jack's. OMG what a difference, his ground beef taste more like steak! This place was recommended to me. Giving it one star because I can't give zero. Went to buy a duck. I was told a frozen duck was $18.69 per pound. Average weight 5-6 pounds. So taking the mind point 5.5 pounds the duck was $102.79! For a duck. At best it has kept me laughing all day. For comparison a name brand company frozen duck at Hannaford $3.99 per pound. read more

This deli has been around for many years. When I went to SUNY. I would stop in and get a sandwich and the newspaper. The sandwiches were always very delicious. I recently moved to the area and was better able to take advantage of The selection of cold cuts. They carry a good line of the Applegate products. Five different types of turkey. Along with two different types of ham and salami. The owner of the deli is very friendly. I tried their pulled pork barbecue sandwich. It was very good. I see they make a homemade meatball sandwich. all bread no meat, and they overcharged me. I ordered a Roast beef on a roll, and asked for provolone cheese and some red peppers. I received four thin slices of roast beef. Subway puts more meat on a sandwich than this this 'Italian deli.' The bread crumbled in my hand trying to hold the sandwich. It wasn't a real roll, more like a cheap hamburger bun, in terms of consistency. The sign says 7.25. I was charged over $10. I asked about the cost and was told I was charged an additional ~$3 for a slice of cheese and peppers. It's a garnish. What deli doesn't include onions, peppers, etc in the price? I can forgive the cheese, but if you're going to charge people for every single topping, individually, you're a bad deli. I probably paid extra for the horseradish sauce as well, now that I think about it. I never use yelp, but I'm so disappointed that I'm taking the time. Now this is a place to get some good grub. Jacks been in the food game for awhile and he knows whats up. Have faith in the food here because it's made with love. The deli stuff is great. Jack's is an under-rated treasure. Right on Main Street. Great source for local, organic grass-fed beef, duck and other meats. Bones. A real butcher. But who cares, they're there to make a sandwich not discuss politics. The sandwiches are a little hit or miss, but definitely more hits than misses. The roast beef here is fantastic, and you really can't go wrong with that, some chedder, salt and pepper, and some horseradish sauce. Prices are a little high for pretty much everything, so that's a little annoying. My suggestion would be to get the sandwich here, and stock up on drinks or chips somewhere else. read more

Great place to stop for breakfast and lunch sandwiches when en route to the crags and the trails. The fresh and frozen local meats are great. They stay open until 8pm on Saturday so we were able to stop by on our way back to NYC and buy good quality meat. I like the mix of staples - milk, newspapers, ramen noodles - and gluten free cookies, local salsas and spice mixes, and meat. The staff are helpful and chatty in a dry way. This place rocks. I've been coming here for years. It's the best deli I've ever been to. They can tell you where (and when) every piece of meat came from. Most of their meats are organic and free range. They serve exclusively organic poultry. Their case products (hummus, grape leaves, etc) are also pretty spot-on. To respond to some of the other reviews: The sandwiches are NOT hit or miss. The place is NOT dirty. The service is gruff? It's kinda part of their shtick. If you notice, the regulars always go in there and jib-jab insult the staff and then get insulted back. It's that kinda place. All in good fun. Abdoul, Abe, Jenin, and James are all very cool once you get to know (and talk trash with) them. :-) So, you might say that they are there to make amazing sandwiches AND discuss politics. read more

I stopped in on my way to a hiking excursion at Mohonk Mountain House. I was happy that there was parking right in front, and that it was not busy because I hate being that person in the deli looking at their menu to see for specials only to go with an original sandwich. I have to agree Terence's review regarding the roast beef. I got a basic roast beef, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on a roll. My wife got a ham and cheese sandwich. I would have gave it 5 stars however as others have said the service is just not the energetic piece that you receive at other delis. If I lived in the area, I would love to try some of their fresh local meats. Anyways, the sandwiches were amazing and the bread super fresh! Will definitely get another sandwich from here if I have to go hiking again with my wife. read more

This crowded little deli and meat market is one of the best places around to buy meat. They feature a lot of grass-fed and organic meats, including more unusual meats like ostrich and buffalo. The guys who work there are abrupt, but nice, and they make a mean sandwich. There's also a decent selection of beverages and other grocery items. read more

I was an employee of Jack's Meats back in 1999. I agree with my colleagues here on Yelp. One learns how to wring out a towel, scrub a cutting board clean, wipe out the display counters without cutting your fingers to bloody bits, how to grind hamburger meat properly. Sandwiches very hit or miss. Sometimes they're loaded with meat, sometimes they're skimpy. I've become a little sketched out by the sanitary conditions here (blood collecting on the trays with the meat on it, sarran wrapped leftovers from God knows when). Just visited Jack's for the first time. I picked up two 8 oz organic filets. Probably the best two steaks I have ever grilled. They were 24.99 per lb. In line with what I would expect to pay for organic filets. Looking forward to trying the NY strips next. read more
