Completely biased review but completely honest. We booked last minute not knowing how the place would be like. We were hoping to view the Aurora Borealis - maybe, God willing. We'll, God more than delivered - the northern lights occupied the entire west side facing lake Como, with an intensity that the lights were visible to the naked eye. All we had to do was walk out of our patio. The hotel itself has a minimalist modern Scandinavian chic presence which I like a lot. The staff is more than impeccable especially the front desk manager Anna Simms. The grounds are beautiful overlooking lake Como. It's close to downtown lake Geneva. For "bean and vine" inside the hotel lobby since you can't find it anywhere on yelp; Ambiance: fantastic; a truly inviting space to hang out and drink coffee or have lunch 5+ stars Food: horrific: a nuked bagel from a freezer that had turned to the consistency of rubber. Thx to the "can't-be-bothered" with details server for leaving it in there for minutes on end. -1 star Coffee: Truly undrinkable. Same server doesn't know how to operate the espresso machine. -1 star Service: she couldn't wait to get back to her phone. No clue how to do any of the tasks fundamental to being a barista: making coffee, prepping light food. -1 star A truly disappointing experience bc as a local this would have been my go to for brunch or coffee. read more

Updated lobby but the rooms are severely neglected. I hate when hotels block off all power outlets. I had a garment steamer that needed to be plugged in to steam my dress for a friends wedding. The ironing board is a tiny joke. The room is very spartan and looks like a prison. For nearly $400 a night I just expected more. read more

I have only stayed in this hotel in the dead of winter. There were lots of fun things to do inside of the hotel including a nice bar and restaurant, a second bar with lots of live music and a café. Even the pool has a small bar. The outside areas looked nice but it was way to cold to find out! My only complaint is that the place is really not sound perfect AT ALL. We were out late (since there are so many bars). When people started to wake up in the morning we could hear every room around us, literally you could hear their toilets flush. I heard a baby cry for an hour around 2 AM. And unfortunately, they were also hosting a princess breakfast that morning and there were children screaming and running past our room continuously beginning at about 6 AM. I would definitely stay there again but I would be particular about the room I was put in. read more

What was wrong? Everything. Stating rooms are lakeside give the impression they have lake view. Nope! Very misleading. Pool and pool deck are nice size; IF it were for guest only. It was so crowded it could not be enjoyed. Maybe build a pool for non guest. It could be used. Or better yet, a pool for paying guest only. Dogs barking- should have a dedicated section of hotel for guest with dogs. List of restaurants- multiple restaurants listed but only 1 on property and it's only open for dinner. Coffee counter only open to 1pm. It's misleading. You have to drive to restaurants or use shuttle. Fitness room is small jammed with multiple machines. Air conditioning sounded like it was on its last leg. Bathroom fan would go off and on by itself. We had to use our body to close bathroom door. Patio door took 2 hands to unlock. Patio sidewalk almost covered with bushes and ornamental grass. It's pretty despicable that guest are charged a daily resort fee but have to share the pool with non-guest. Also, we specifically picked this resort because they had a nice OUTDOOR pool. The pool was closed 2 days; we were there 3 full days. And staff waited to notify guests. When they found a solution it was for guest to go to Geneva National. It rained that entire day so using outdoor pool was not possible. But the solution wasn't offered until Tuesday when it rained. Where was this solution in Monday when it could've been used. Monday they were telling people they could go to the lovely beaches in town. They neglected to tell guest that it cost money to go to public beach. Pay to park and pay to get on beach. And the resort didn't offer to pay but were fine charging guest fees. We understand fees include more than pool, but we didn't use the other amenities. Deck bar staff was wonderful. Can't say that about management since there wasn't one on site. Our families have stayed there multiple times when it was Interlaken and loved it. It's a 1 star hotel trying to appear as a 5 star. It looks like they changed lobby but neglected the rooms. We did get a refund on resort fee but had to ask. If I could give 1/2 star I would. read more

Good Morning, I don't usually send messages like this, but I felt that I should this time. First let me say the we have been coming to the Ridge (now called the Lodge) for several years in a row, and we love it, it has always been very nice. My husband and I come to Lake Geneva every year in July for our anniversary. My husband made reservations this year and requested room 1107, which we usually get, the young man who took our reservation assured us that if we didn't get that exact room, we would get one near by. When he called the number on the website, that is for the hotel, he was transferred to Expedia, without his knowledge. When we arrived, we were given room 1252, no where near 1107 or the pool. They should not promise you a particular room if they can't really give us that room. I am writing this so that hopefully your employees can be trained better and this doesn't happen to anyone else. Beautiful renovated hotel offers a variety of rooms, lakeside and resort view. When you enter the hotel the lobby is expansive, brightly lit, lovingly decorated. My family enjoyed hanging out in the lobby watching sports on the big screen tv and chatting while people watching. Coffee bar offers breakfast and lunch fare at reasonable prices. Crafted restaurant hosts a Friday fish fry,Saturday prime rib and Italian favorites like mushroom arancini, pasta and homemade pizzas. The view from the restaurant overlooking the patio below is beautiful after sunset with thousands of twinkling lights and a large outdoor fireplace. My family has stayed at The Ridge several times, both winter and summer. We enjoy the atmosphere and the area. Staff is wonderful and the accomodations are worth it. Beware...the pictures advertised are deceiving. Frankly, it's false advertising. The lobby looks modern, fresh and clean but that's where it ends. They just slapped paint on the walls and headboards in the rooms which were hardly clean. There were stains on the walls and carpeting and the hallways were also filthy. We didn't even want to put our bags down on anything. And you can hear EVERYTHING!!! Toilets flushing, people in the hallway, dogs constantly barking...it was awful. We booked 4 nights and didn't even stay one night. We left and went to another hotel. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Short version: Pretty lobby, nice bathrooms, slow service, I wasn't completely wowed. My husband and I stayed 1 night this past weekend. The lobby was very nice and we were helped right away. Our room was clean, and your basic hotel room. I thought the bathroom was nice, but could have done with a nicer shampoo/conditioner, and brighter lights in which to do my makeup. We slept horribly. We could hear every noise, from the person puking all night in the room above us, to the people talking in the hallway. Every toilet flush (and there were a lot!) by the person above us was incredibly loud. My husband eventually downloaded a white noise app on his phone in order to block out some noise. The cafe in the lobby has sandwiches, soup and coffee drinks. My husband and I needed a sandwich before our event, so we walked up to the cafe. The 2 ladies working the cafe were obviously busy changing out the cash drawer, but they didn't even look up to tell us they'd be with us soon. We were literally 2 feet from them, for probably 5 minutes. They just kept talking to eachother and busily working. I finally interrupted to ask for help. Next time I'm in the area, I'll stay somewhere else. read more

Upon entering the hotel, it seemed like it was upscale and a nice atmospher. check in was smooth and welcoming. Room was clean and to current trends. The only major set back that the rating is based on was the lack of service provided by the bar staff. They were solely catering to those who were friends or were "spenders". Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've had at a hotel. We checked in late and got our room keys. One of them didn't work so we figured we'd address it in the morning. Overnight, the light and fan sensor in the bathroom kept going off no matter how many times we clicked it off, so we had to sleep with that on the entire night. I woke up extra early to start getting ready for a wedding I was going to be that day, and the shower wasn't working. Went down to the front desk where the woman at the desk said she'd send maintenance later to check it out. She offered zero alternatives. When I asked what she could do for a solution and asked if we could get a new room with a working shower, she said we could shower in the room across from us, but that they were going to need that room back? It grossly sounded like they weren't going to even clean it once I did shower. Eventually, I just ended up showering at my friends Airbnb where we were getting ready for her wedding. When I was in the shower at the hotel trying to get it to work, there was a huge glob of hair in the corner and pieces of hair all over the shower. I truly don't think it was even cleaned prior to us getting there. My fiancé stayed back at the hotel to get ready for the wedding. There was no iron or ironing board, and maintenance never came. For how much we spent to stay two nights at what's meant to be a "luxury" hotel, this place was absolutely not worth the price. At least the Holiday Inn would have given us an iron and a do not disturb sign. read more

I can only speak for the Veranda outdoor space. We walked up from the back thru the InterLaken condo complex, as we were staying there for the weekend. It's about as easy as can be, a cool 5 minute stroll. We were there to see the musical act Don Wiggins on a Friday night. They were serving wood fired oven pizzas out on the patio and we had drinks a plenty while thoroughly enjoying the music and the vibe! Don was awesome by the way! This spaces is vast, tons of seating. Clean, sweet staff, really fun way to spend a night outdoors facing Lake Como. Beautiful views! read more

This place is beyond disgusting. I am so sad we are stuck here for 2 nights (we foolishly got a non-refundable reservation). The pics online are extremely deceiving. Before even stepping in the place, we were greeted by an overflowing trash can with garbage also scattered about on the ground. As we entered the lobby I was momentarily relieved. The lobby is so beautiful. I was rapidly brought back to reality as the awkward check in clerk told us -REPEATEDLY- that our room was not ready (it was 2pm) and that they are not guaranteed to be ready until four. " it's not guaranteed that your room will be ready before 4 o'clock and your room is not ready because it is not 4 o'clock and there is a guarantee that rooms will be ready by 4 o'clock, but since it isn't 4 o'clock, your room is not ready and that can be a guarantee" Ummmmm. ok. We never said a word about it. Like we were not arguing or anything. Not a word. Not quite sure where her aggressiveness was coming from. Any way, true to her word, we were not able to check in before 4 (although many people checked in while we waited). No big deal. Policy is policy. And maybe it was the good Lord sparing us from having to stay here an extra 2 hours. The Ridge is so filthy as soon as you get out of the lobby. Dirty q-tip in the hall, the hall smells like pee and dirty feet. Super crowded pool (outsiders can get day passes). One of our beds had wadded up hair tangled in the comforter. There is makeup on one of the pillows. I have never seen so much assorted hair in a hotel shower before. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!!! I would ask for a different room, but I don't want to deal with the front desk lady, and by the looks of the rest of the property (inside and out- see attached pics) I figured we were not going to get anything better. Attended a wedding here and had a terrific time. Brand new pool and pool area were delightful; the four cabanas that were present were very nice and PSSST! you really, really need to get more of them, as the pool area is great to sit out in but not everyone is a sun worshipper; YOU NEED MORE SHADY AREAS HERE; do that and your outdoor area will be top notch. Really nice outside tiki bar. The food was delicious; the service overall very good. Very comfy rooms and beds. My finicky husband, who is the world's most restless sleeper, was quite pleased with the firmness and comfort of the mattress. Great cooling system kept us comfortable at all times: the thermostat adjusts quickly and reliably. Showerhead water pressure was was too weak but we lived with it; they were booked solid and running ragged as it was...and overall, all the employees we encountered did a great job. So a weak showerhead was trivial. Overall, a very nice weekend to be a wedding guest at the Ridge! read more

The hotel lobby is gorgeous, but that shouldn't matter too much since you're not sleeping there. We got a lakeside King bedroom, but the view was definitely lacking. The hotel is situated on a hill looking down. We really had a view of the outdoor pool more than anything. The bedroom was definitely dated. Signs of deterioration were also prevalent-- chipped paint, holes in the wall, nothing horrendous though. Still perfectly acceptable. The mattress was sturdy, but had a couple of sink holes near the end. The hotel also puts out 5 mini pillows on the bed for you to use at night. They're cute until you actually have to sleep on them. You'll miss regular sized pillows, trust me. You will also notice a lack of easily accessible outlets. The only two that were usable were from the lamp on the desk. Gone is the convenience of charging your phone next to you as you sleep. My least favorite experience was actually trying to iron my clothes for a dinner reservation we had. The iron barely got hot and hardly put out any steam. The ironing board itself was also miniaturized and had to be laid on the bed for use. Again, the outlet problem came into play. I had to move the mattress to unplug the clock radio in order to use the iron. Overall, the hotel was okay. The desk staff were friendly and the check in process was quick. I did not get to explore the spa or other outdoor amenities. read more

The Ridge Spa review: This is a review of the spa only. We did not stay at hotel. We were just going to check out the spa. I wish we didn't and kept with other spas in the area. The photo below is the locker room and that was probably the nicest area of the spa. To say it was old, run down and probably a health department issue would be an understatement. I don't understand why the hotel would renovate but not update the spa as well. The services were just okay, nothing special but not horrible. There are much much better spas in the area. Nice lobby and good check in. Friendly staff. Now, that said, the elevator floor buttons need to be relabeled, very confusing for the first 2 times using them to get to our room and lobby. A very unique musty odor when we first entered the room .there were only 2 coffee cups in our room. No plastic or paper cups in the bathroom to use to rinse your mouth when brushing your teeth. The bed AND pillows were lumpy and sunken in and very quite uncomfortable. The Hotel would be much better with another resturant for a better on site selection. We went in February to see The Ice Castles. They had a package deal was with the tickets for Ice Castles and free transportation to and from the event. The room was not worth the price but the Ice Castles and convenient shuttle with friendly staff helped boost the rating of the stay to three stars. read more

Ridge, you did a terrific job hosting the Beer and Spirits Festival! The first things we notice was plenty of parking, great signage directing you where to go, once in lines that moved quickly, and plenty of people to direct and answer questions. Everyone entering was carded. Exceptionally well organized! Being beer fest virgins, our friends were more than happy to make sure our first time was enjoyable. They made for us necklaces with pretzels, string cheese , candy bars, Slim Jim's, and more....to help not only keep one sober, but to help clean ones pallet as well. A lanyard was also provided to hold ones souvenir and useful sampling glass. Now the beer.....dozens, and dozens of craft beers to sample. The fest is both inside and outside with a large party tent. The drill, give them your glass, they fill it to the sampling line, sample said beer...like it, finish the sample...dislike....pour it out in a bucket....there is even a carafe of water to rinse one's glass. I'm not going to critique the beer, because a beer fest to me is a chance to get one out of their comfort level. Some I liked, some I didn't, but that is why we came, to try something new and sometimes unusual. The fest even included and encouraged designated drivers. They were given a discount, their own special cup to sample craft sodas. Very cool! We are looking forward to returning next year and introducing friends "beer fest virgins" to the festivities. We got a groupon to stay here during the week in august. It was really worth it- affordable and included all resort taxes and fees so we weren't surprised when we checked in. The outside is okay looking but the inside is very modern and nice. There is an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool has a small bar with great cocktails and food. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We had a lakeview and you can see part of it- there are a lot of trees and the property isnt right on the water but very close. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Parking lot is huge and you dont need a pass. They allow you to borrow a luggage cart to take your things to your room. There is a small cafe when you walk in, a restaurant in the back, and he bar outside- everything we had to eat was delicious. We called the front desk and rented kayaks from there marina. It was super easy- you just call,sign a waiver and pay as you walk out, and then someone meets you at the small marina to give you them to go out. Its the same price as other places but you get a discount being a hotel guest. Its a 10 min walk downhill to the marina or you can drive and there is limited parking. The hotel is located on lake como but is a 10 min drive to downtown lake geneva. They have a shuttle to downtown but it only goes on weekends. We loved it here- would definitely stay again! read more

We stayed approximately one year ago during major renovations, so this review is of our stayed before remodeling was complete. Generally speaking, it was a nice size room with updates but there was something about the hallway layout and design that reminded us of a Towneplace Suites. Likes - pricing - modern lobby and lounge area - parking close to rooms -remodeled bathrooms - beautiful views with lots of natural light Dislikes -thin walls; From inside the room, you could hear others walking & talking in the hallway. - an AC unit that mounts inside the room as opposed to central AC; rather noisy. - the bedding was older; the mattress was pretty worn and dipped and the style was a bit outdated. - limited dining options onsite (Sept 2016) - location (requires driving a drive to the downtown area) read more

Stayed at the Ridge during Ice Castles. What an amazing event! Our 3 year old was entranced by the slides and the lights. My wife and I loved the accommodations as well as the quality of the amenities and services available in such close proximity. With so many great restaurants and activities, we cannot wait to get back to the area in the spring/summer season. And, when we do, we'll be looking to stay at the Ridge. read more

I live in Lake Geneva and have avoided The Ridgw due to all the negative talk in town We decided to give it a try and OMG we were devastated at the results. We entered the lobby and it was beautiful, but not one single staff greeted us, asked we where we wanted to go or direct us to our desired destination. We found our way to the AMERICANA bar and we were directed downstairs to the outside bar where they had live music. We finally found our way to the outside bar. We sat at the outside bar and it was beautiful. Very comfortable chairs. The ambience ended there as the bartender? Gave us our drinks. We complained about the lack of customer service and she didn't give any backup. Just gave us a bill and walked away. Very very poor customer service. We inquired about the outside music that we were promised and she told us the band had "flaked". We left to go upstairs as the outside menu looked like the goods of McDonalds. Not sure why this hotel has three stars only. We enjoyed our stay there. I was pleasantly surprise with the great interior and cleanliness of the place. The stuff was very friendly, professional and attentive. Hotel is located only ten minutes from down town Lake Geneva. They have an outdoor pool, great patio area that has a fire place and light at night to create very romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Also, they are steps away from the lake and you can a suit with the fireplace inside and view on the lake. They have an activities and amenities at the hotel as well. We enjoyed great coffee at on site coffee and vine bar, had a dinner at Crafted Americana (which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as happy hour) and had a drink at Bar 55 that has a live music. Also, you can play golf and spa there. You can celebrate your wedding there. read more

This hotel was very nice for a one night tiny mini vacation to get away from the city. Our room as well as the rest of the hotel was very clean. I have no complaints. They also have an Igloo Experience. $100 to sit in the igloo for people that are interested. Would definitely be coming back. read more

Old hotel with recent facelift. The hotel advertised a spa, so we booked two services. When we went to look for the spa we found out it was its own stand alone business not connected to any hotel and we had to drive a few miles away. (I know, real world problems, right?) We asked for a 30 minute to hr late checkout to mitigate the distance and no shower service at the spa. This was granted; but the front desk made sure to politely reprimand for the request. No breakfast offered at hotel except coffee bar with some limited continental options. The hotel's Italian restaurant in evening was booked, so plan on driving or taxing to most necessary amenities or booking reservations ahead of stay. Maybe bring your own food? Positive was the pool bar's bartender made strong drinks. Food options at pool just pizza, but pizza was delicious. I think providing packages like snacks and sandwiches would be a nice add? Pool area is refurbished and nice. I don't travel much so maybe 350.00 a night is the going rate but I would like the service to be a little better for a "resort-like" hotel. I also know this is on the heels of a pandemic, end of season, with probably lack of sufficient staff. So this may be as good as it may get? Maybe offer a side room or traveling massage therapist who can add some spa kind of service "at" the hotel. Beautiful hotel but I wouldn't say it is up to the price. read more

Just left after a one night stay. Pool is to die for however outside bar is totally overpriced and food is mediocre at best. Ordered the avocado turkey club but no avocado...waitress by the time she returned when we had another bite was "sorry". Worth the short drive to Mars for lunch and dinner. This is more like an old Super 8 motel (with MUCH nicer lobby/furniture/fixtures) than a resort. The walls are thin, the HVAC units in the rooms are loud, and the bathroom walls have spots of mold/peeling. Through Hotel Tonight, I paid $100 for a room that allegedly goes for $175. For what I got I would expect to pay maybe $60. Maybe. Parking and check-in was quick and easy. The rooms have just a list of tv channels -no hotel guide with info about services offered or where the pool/restaurants/vending machines are; no restaurant or pool hours; no info about wi-fi, and no info about the area. Not ever having been in Lake Geneva before, I called the front desk to ask about finding this info and he said I could walk down and get a brochure from him. So I walked to the front desk (in the rain, because the hallway connecting us is under construction) and got a simple single-page printout of hotel info I feel could've been very easily provide to me when I checked in. Back in my room I settled in while listening to the chatter/screeching of children in the hallway & next room. After a few hours of this I called the front desk and he kindly offered a different room -and then kindly brought the new room key to me so I didn't have to lug my stuff to the front desk through the rain. My new room, like my first room, looked out into the parking lot but at least it was quiet (except for the HVAC unit). Bed was comfy; slept well. Wi-fi is unlocked and unsecured; requires you to enter your email address every time you want to be reconnected. It also kept cutting out (as it did last night). Bummed to find no cable in the morning. Called front desk who offered to send a maintenance guy up but I wasn't interested in getting dressed for a visitor just so I could lay in bed and watch tv. So I read. At 9am the construction guys down the hall started their work, which included the usual construction noise and throwing building debris in the large dumpster outside my window. I know this place just got sold and is under construction, but nice new furniture & fixtures don't justify this being called a resort. Take those out and, like I said, it's no different than an old Super 8. Would not stay here again. read more

Have been going to this Hotel for the past two years even proposed to my future wife last year. Decided it would be a great surprise for her and I to book for the 4th of July weekend because they had assured me that there pool that they had been redoing would be open July 2, that Friday. As to checking in that Friday afternoon after all week they had confirmed to me over the phone that there pool would be open. Well surprise surprise as I get there first thing I had asked is the pool open? No sorry won't be ready ‍ On one of the hottest weekends where you couldn't book any where else with a outdoor pool Cause of the 4th of July weekend. The cheap people gave us a complementary for the inconvenience. Whats so disappointting is they knew this pool would not be open but still had the nerve to lie to every one and still have the nerve to charge outrageous prices. Definitely will not be returning there anytime soon. read more

The hotel lobby and restaurants are really pretty and well taken care of. Our room was just so, so. It definitely had some type of odor to it. The pool area is being renovated, but to be honest they should be more concerned about the exterior being taken care of. This is our third time staying there and the building is definitely going downhill, sorry to say. read more

This hotel has a great deal of communication issues. They don't honor their commitments to resolve situations and don't care much about professionalism. Two day group outing with golf at Geneva National. Based on their website I expected more than what I experienced. At checkin the staff at the front desk was a bit on the grouchy side:(. The room was on the floor I preferred but not in the location requested. The room was pretty basic and not in very good overall condition. Cleanliness was just ok. Easy to find and parking seemed to be ample. Unfortunately a billing dispute also occurred. Overall I would not recommend as the overall experience was not up to par. For less money I can have the same experience! read more

I am giving this 83 only because the outdoor pool is not handicap accessible. It was very difficult for my husband who uses a cane or a walker to get down to the pool area. I did find it interesting however, that they do have the handicap chair to lower somebody into the pool they just don't have a way for anybody who is handicap to get to the outdoor pool what is the net food is good restaurants were good cool service a little slow it took us about 90 minutes to get our burger. The Italian restaurant food outstanding Also, they serve alcohol in the pool which is a bad idea. A group here had 42 empty drinks lined up at the outdoor pool that is not counting what they threw away. They nearly drowned a child with their drunk horse play. read more
