Seattle Farm is a privately owned 20-acre property, and I'm pretty sure it's the only farm within city limits. The place is beautifully maintained and feels like a hidden gem. No cows or chickens, but there are plenty of horses. We came during pumpkin season and paid $25, which covered both parking and admission. Big parking lot, easy access. At the barn you'll find several horses, and feeding them hay was a hit for both kids and adults. The darker horse was especially affectionate - kept rubbing its head against us, super sweet. You can also pay extra for horse/pony rides; they are all calm, well-trained, and come in various sizes. There's a food area with picnic tables where you can grab hotdogs and drinks. The pumpkin selection isn't as large as farms farther out, but still enough. It's great to see a place like this still operating in the city, and it's definitely worth supporting to help keep it going. I think they also host private events like birthday parties and weddings, and offer dedicated horseback-riding lessons - you'll need to call for details. Awesome family-friendly spot. We started off with the 90 min ride in a group and plan on scheduling the 2 hour private ride for later this summer. Elizabeth was very friendly. I really appreciated how we got there, quickly signed up, got equipment and we were off after a introduction. She rode ahead and was always there to answer any questions but my daughter and I were close enough to comfortably talk the entire time. I highly recommend this place, it was both mine and my daughters favorite.

Miss Tina and her crew truly educate about the whole horse and care about all the kids that come through. She learned horse safety, how to saddle a horse, how to direct a horse through an obstacle, trail rides, typical horse chores, and so much more. They also add some flair with total camp activities like making adorable tie dye tshirts, various arts and crafts, made popsicles for horses, played games, etc. At the end of the week they invite parents for a little award ceremony.

During Covid times,…read moreriding and instruction is limited to people who stable their horses at the farm but otherwise, this is a wonderful place to spend a few magical hours either riding a horse yourself or watching a child ride their first (or fiftieth) horse. The barn area is large and has jumps for riders to attempt. Instructors were patient and inspirational for the kids that were riding when I went to Blue Heron. There is an upstairs office where you can watch the riders. Definitely would recommend spending some time at Blue Heron but call ahead to see what the rules are regarding visitors, teaching, etc.
