So glad we went with TRC for our AC installation! Can't thank them enough for the wonderful job they did for us! Reuven came out to us right away to give us an estimate, and we were scheduled for installation within 1.5 weeks (which is really hard to find right now with AC installations due to this heat wave). Frankie and his team came out the day of installation and went right to it! They worked on our system the ENTIRE day. Although we were told the team would be working from 8AM-5PM, but then would come back the next day to finish. TRC is the way to go! We currently live in Hawaii and our tenants called me stating that the A/C had gone out during the a heat wave (of course). After getting a ridiculously overpriced quote ($15K) from a "big name" company, I had TRC come out to give us a second opinion. Reuven gave us no run-around and was straight to the point. The "big company" tried to sell us on the top-of-the-line slim line condenser unit stating it was the "only choice" even though my husband used to work with HVACs and knew his stuff. Reuven not only agreed with us, but gave us multiple options to choose from. Once the estimate was finalized, he set the job up for the next week, and everything was done in two days at an extremely affordable rate. He followed up with the inspection application and information afterwards. Their office staff (Kelly) was equally responsive and helpful. It's hard to choose contractors especially when you are unable to be on site, let alone for big ticket items. We will definitely be contacting Reuven and TRC for any of our HVAC needs from here on out. One of their technicians came over to do her diagnostics and told me that my blower motor needs to be replaced & quoted me $ 1010 to replaced. Gave $ 100 for deposit or diagnostic fee. Good I called AirMaxx for second opinion who diagnosed that all I need was to change a blown fuse $ 80. Now my unit is working well. If only there was a rating less than 1 star that is what they will get from me. A good technician with the right diagnostics matters a lot to ones business. read more

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. HUGE SCAM COMPANY!!! My realtor called this place to check the furnace in my condo that wasn't working during an inspection. "Leo" came 30 minutes early and woke me up. I told him all I needed was to get the furnace to turn on for the appraisers. I told him it worked fine the last time I used it about a year ago. He took the cover off the front and immediately told me the whole thing would need to be replaced for $4200. I told him there has to be a way to get the old one to work. He said it could be done and quoted me a bunch of prices on replacement parts that added up to thousands of dollars but still cheaper than the new one. I told him I wasn't making a decision now and would call my friend who's a contractor for a second opinion. He got rather standoffish at this point and handed me the bill to sign. It was $85. He wanted me to sign the little notation at the bottom of the bill that said "HVAC System is working upon completion" which I called him on and told him it wasn't working and that he had done exactly NO work on it and he left. My friend came over and turned a VERY VISIBLE RED KNOB that happened to be to the gas line and the furnace turned on and now works just as well as it did last year. I was pissed. You'd think that a guy who does this as his damned profession would have seen or thought of something like that. From the very get go Leo was only concerned with selling me a very expensive new product and was extremely pushy about it being the only smart option. My realtor called and asked for a refund and was told that they would have to send someone back out. WTF?! The thing is working now, idiots! I called with the same mission in mind and was told by the receptionist that she would have the project manager call me right away. It's been 24 hours and NOTHING. THE WRONG CHOICE is a huge SCAM company. That fix was way too easy and I think Leo knew the whole time. I hate to think about it but he may have even turned that knob off on purpose. I know I didn't because I'd never even seen it before. So basically, they tried to rob me of over 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS for the turning of a knob. Screw those guys. They installed an air conditioner in early 2020. Never really cooled below about 76 degrees. I reported it to them last year, and the technician they sent, said he needed to remove some Freon, because the level was too high. Same condition exists this year, plus water pouring down the side of the house from the condensate drain, but they say they don't cover Chula Vista anymore. Haven't answered emails. Got another HVAC company to look at, and his comments were "That's a mess! Thermal expansion valve not insulated, condensate drain lines cross connected, and no safety pan installed." I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I liked. read more

I ran a search for contractor to repair my AC unit on Yelp and utilized Yelp's request for quotations feature, where you answer some questions about the problem you're having with your AC unit and up to five contractors contact you with either estimates or to set up an appointment for an estimate. The Right Choice answered that bid, but as you'll find when reading this, they were The Wrong Choice. Before setting up an appointment with them, I told them I was located in a high rise condo in downtown San Diego, and I told them the issues I'd been having with my AC. They had me answer a bunch of other questions and put a credit card on file with them. Since there has been a heat wave, appointments were getting snatched up left and right. They initially said they could come next day (which is why I chose them), but later said they wouldn't be able to come until a few days later. I didn't mind that because I understood the difficulty in scheduling when many people are vying for appointments. I finally set up an appointment for that Sunday to have a technician run a diagnostic on my machine. They even sent me a confirmation for the day and time. I thought this was great so far. Sunday morning, I contacted them at around 10:00 to confirm again. They confirmed my appointment. At about 10:35, they called me back and left a voicemail that they weren't going to come. They gave a dumb excuse saying "We do not work on your type of system at the high rise building in San Diego." What does that even mean?! They knew I lived in a high-rise, and they weren't going to work on the building's system, just the one in my unit. They don't even know what system I have. I tried calling them back within mere minutes of the message, but no one answered either of the two numbers they left me. No apologies, no referrals, no nothing. Now I have to try to locate an other HVAC person to come, but everyone seems booked out for a week! Thanks a lot, Wrong Choice! You cost me much time, opportunity, and sanity. All you had to do was show up and run a diagnostic. Thats it. You failed. read more

The customer service for scheduling was really wonderful. During the busiest time of year (July) they were able to get a technician out to me next day AND they called and were able to get the technician to come out earlier in the day than when scheduled. David M. was the tech who came out to help diagnose our HVAC system. I feel so dumb becuase he came and flipped the circuit breaker switch and poof the system works. Unfortunately, the air register return is not large enough for the system we have so he recommended a few solutions for us. We don't have the money to move forward with the investment yet, but David was super patient and kind in explaining everything. He spent more time than I would expect anyone from an HVAC company to spend with us. read more

My 97 year old aunt gave a service rep $90.00 and was told they would call her the next day to see if she wanted to complete an application for a new furnace. They never called back. I called the office 3 times to see about getting her money back and to complain about the rep. who took her money (cash) and I have not heard back from them. I had a 22 year HVAC system that failed on very hot days. TRC came out and offered a very competitive quote to replace the entire system and replace all the ducts. They had a whole team come out and finished the system install and most of the duct work in 1 day. By day 2 they finished the rest of the ducts. They want to keep their customers happy and when I brought up the furthest room wasn't getting enough air flow, they came back to install baffles which directed more air to that room. The new system is more efficient and cools our house during hot days and warms our house quickly during cold days. I would recommend them and would use them again. read more

I called The Right Choice to get a check up on my A/C unit while the weather was cool. To my surprise they were able to send Reuven out to my home on the same day! He arrived right on time & and was very professional. I was concerned about insulation that was falling apart on my a/c lines but he said that it was in good shape except for the part where it came into the house. He said it did not need to be replaced but just reinforced with wide black tape to protect it from the elements. He did it for me at no additional charge. Their service calls were more reasonable then the other bids I got on Yelp. They use all modern techniques with their tablet & toke pics of all the readings which they sent to me for future reference. He was honest with me & said that my 12 year old a/c is in good shape. Used 'The Right Choice' to get a vented condensation trap & an S2 switch installed on my heating unit - this essentially prevents condensation related overflows and related hazards like mould etc. Very professional with their estimate/ quote and scheduling process. The technician who came out, Esteban, was quick, cleaned up after the job, was not in the least intrusive, and finished in about 20 minutes. Great job- I liked the guy. The Right Choice was the only HVAC company that actually *listened* to me, and gave me what I was requesting. The other companies I spoke with, all merely insisted on having to charge me $5K - $7K on swapping out my entire heating and cooling units, in the interest of breathing 'hospital quality air', even though both of my units work just fine. Beware!! This is my 4th time changing my review about this company. Long story short. I paid approximately 7k plus to install a brand new ac. 2 years later it stopped working. I tired to hire multiple companies to fix the Ac and all the companies said, "the unit was installed incorrectly" After many many many calls the owner sent out his worker to fix the issue. Each time I was told, it was small issue ex. The filter needs to changed. The AC never got fixed. The ac caused multiple leaks in my house and completely stopped working after their last visit. On their 3rd visit they finally said, we finally found the issue and will fix it... too long to go into details. They sent me a contract to bill me for over 1k. Because they installed an Ac incorrectly they want me to pay them again for the same job. To the owner your employee XXX didn't install the AC correctly from the start why would I pay you more money to get it fixed? Each time they inspected my ac I asked for photos or videos. I was declined. FYI if you write a bad review the owner will personally call you and ask you to take down the review. read more

This could be considered fraud. I installed a new Nest thermostat. For months, the AC and fan worked. When time for heat, there was none. A wire for the thermostat was incorrectly connected to the furnace. First I called San Diego Gas & Electric. He checked the wiring, said that was as far as he could go. He put everything back together and demonstrated that the AC and fan were still working when he left. He told me to call an HVAC contractor. Second service contractor was Leo Hemo from The Right Choice. He moved around several wires and told me the previous SDG&E guy had "fried my mother board." He brought me outside to show me that unit was not working. He wanted $1,200 for a replacement mother board, no doubt that did not include installation. At this point in time, there was no heat, and the AC and fan that were working when he arrived were not working now. I did not feel comfortable with him. When I told him I was going to get another opinion, he had a terrible look on his face. The third guy arrived just a few hours later. He said wires from the thermostat to the furnace were not connected properly. He also showed me that all wires from a cluster of several wires controlling the outside unit were 100% unconnected from the furnace when he arrived, no wonder the outside unit was not working! He took only 30 minutes to put all wires back together so everything worked. No expensive parts needed. All have worked perfectly ever since. I provided a copy of the above to their contractor license holder in LA. Weeks later, no response was received. The Right Choice, is actually the Wrong Choice. It could have cost me well over $1,200 to replace a part that was actually working 100%. read more

The wrong choice for me. My AC needed coolant. But, the technician tried to get me to replace the duct system for the house for thousands of dollars before he would work on my AC. When I was hesitant to make a decision, he turned on pressure sales techniques to force a sale. I literally had to pay him to leave my house. It was a hot day and I wanted to fix the AC so my family can be comfortable and he really tried to use that against me. I got someone else to refill the coolant and my AC is working fine now. I would not recommend this place to people in need of small repairs, because they are a big company and they dont want to do small jobs. If you have a small problem, they will find a bigger problem and maximize the amount of money they extract from you. read more

Do not call or use TRC (The Right Choice) Heating &Air home services. I called and scheduled a check up. maintenance on my Furnace and Air Conditioner. When the service man came out he went into the attic to check the furnace. He said something about the Mother board having a problem. After looking at my circuit breaker box which was fine, he said that the furnace did have any electricity and that it was the Mother board. He showed me the Thermostat which was blank (no power) and said that I needed a new furnace. I said that was funny because everything was working the day before when another company looked at it. By the way another company was coming the next day to give me their evaluation. He went back up to the attic, said he would try it again. Son of a gun the power came back on and when I turned the air and then the heat on they worked. Do I smell sabotage? The next day the service man from a different company said that my equipment was 15 years old and yeah it was on the downhill side, but that it should work fine for at least another 5 years. As a rule of thumb I get at least 3 estimates before I hire anyone to work on my house. This proved to be a good rule since the first two companies told me that I had to get a new furnace now. Some times I need more than 3. I just want more than 1 company to tell me the same thing or at least have them be close enough to be believable. read more

I had Marcos come over to give me a free estimate on wall Insulation and possible attic insulation. He showed up and gave me a very rough verbal estimate which he had agreed to submit via email. He never did send me that estimate AND when in my home he insisted very rudely and unprofessionally that we needed to have them, the Right Choice install Solar Panels. He was relentless in this pursuit . He kept trying to sell me on supposed great financing which I had no interest in and I made that clear more than once !!! I almost had to kick this Marcos kid out of my home. After an out-of-the-blue weekend night follow-up phone call he attempted again to sell me solar panels, which I declined again. The technician Jeff that came out was fantastic, but the reason for the 2-star rating was the price quoted by the technician and the attitude of the receptionist. We had them do a diagnostic for $95, and then they quoted us over $800 to replace a capacitor and condenser motor fan. We decided not to get further service from them and when we called to make sure they knew we didn't require additional service the receptionist was incredibly rude. Customer service goes a long way, and so does having reasonable pricing. read more

We were very happy with the work done by The Right Choice. We wanted our furnace moved to the attic, a smart thermostat installed, our old insulation removed and replaced with new insulation. Itai came out to provide a quote. He listened carefully to what we wanted and looked over our attic carefully to recommend the best options for us. He let us know that our duct work was old and likely was causing our furnace to be inefficient. He was able to provide a competitive price compared to the other quotes we had received. Itai was also very friendly and answered our many questions! The work was started quickly and the technicians were friendly, respectful, and answered our questions.
