Resorts and this resort was so beautiful, housekeeping was always making sure the room is clean, everyone that works here is so nice and welcoming, and I loved the cookies here. Oh my gosh, the cookies are so delicious that they provide as a treat! This resort is so beautiful! we stayed on the Club's side and we went to both sides to enjoy the amenities and everyone is just so extremely nice. The beaches are beautiful and close to everything. And everything is convenient. I just love this island so much and the people are so lovely. My daughters also loved it here, so much to do for all ages! We were staying at the residence, and this hotel is SOOO NICE. When we got there, they had given us free cookies and punch. The people there are nice, patient, and kind. They explained where we can go and nearby restaurants, and the different pools and beaches. They gave us a free ride to our building, and our room was so nice! Since it was my mom's birthday, they had given us a small chocolate cake with balloons. They even gave us the groceries we wanted. Groceries delivered to your hotel? That saves a lot of time. We had a great view of the ocean, too. I had a great time there with my family. I hope I come here again; this is my favorite hotel I've ever been to. Much appreciated, Ritz-Carlton staff. read more

Our stay was from 10/10-10/17 and from the time of arrival to departure, everything was seamless. We had immediate help with luggage, we were welcomed with complimentary beverages, and we got the lay of the land from the front desk. The property itself is massive, offering a beautiful view of the water from practically the whole resort. The pool was immaculate, the restaurants were fabulous (Alloro) in particular having excellent service and food. Southwind is a small breakfast/lunch spot on property and we visited every single morning during our stay. Jene and Shalin were both amazing. They were so friendly and welcoming, remembered our drink order everyday, and were such a blast. They work so hard and usually were working alone during the breakfast rush, but they both handled it with grace. The boys at valet, Jamar and Jabari treated us like royalty as well. They were stealthy and efficient and ran the valet with ease. The people we met at this resort that took care of us made us feel incredibly welcomed and at home. The spa staff and the housekeeping staff were also a blessing. They are incredible at what they do and the extra mile they go every single day was certainly noticed. Top notch, we will be back. Here is your total guide to the Ritz saint thomas: Any other hotel it would be a 3, based on the price, and expectations of staying at a ritz, a 2 is generous. We are titanium members and this could not have gone worse. I've stayed at many ritz hotels and even other luxurious hotels on saint thomas. This is by far the worst experience. Terrible: Check in: took an hour and a half of the concierge not being diligent in getting management. No line, was just lack of prioritizing. They told us conflicting things and were far from accommodating. They told us multiple times that we could be coming off the street because the reservation was in my dads name. We have the same middle and last name!!! This was insulting. Check out: not even managers or the accounting team is able to stick to what they say. Charges out of no where!incorrect information from the entire ritz team and told us things that were just not true. Ants IN the room and got in baggage ! ( we did not have food anywhere) A USED razor was in the bathroom!! AC broke the first night Poop stains on robe!!!!!! Bad: Coffee cups in room were dirty Ice machine was broke Tv had bad service Lights flickering Can hear the next door neighbors who were very obnoxious and loud at 5am in the morning Minor construction going on during day, I didn't mind it. restaurant: sail: food was good but pricey. I HATE posting negative reviews, but I have to keep it real so here goes.... Ritz, your St. Thomas property has a lot of work to do before I can recommend staying here. The workout facility overlooks the employees break area/facility and dumpsters (granted the ocean is just beyond that, but still). Can watching the employees smoke on their breaks be avoided? I don't know, but I wish they would re-think that. There were two broken treadmills with old carpet thrown on them abandoned in the gym. The service was slow at every turn. The maids closet was next to our room and she would leave the dirty mops outside (in front of my door) all day until her shift was over. In one of the common area bathrooms there was a toilet bowl brush tucked away behind the sink because I guess that's were you keep it?? Sorry Ritz Lovers, this place has potential but needs to step up their game. read more

Came here with my bf for a short vacation tagged onto a company event. The service is horrible. They put us in a room with 2 separate beds and said its max capacity, so there's no way to switch. The bed was small: max "full size" not even queen. The airline lost our luggage and delivered them the next day. Our luggage was sitting at the hotel lobby and no one informed us about the delivery. When they brought the suitcase to us at the lobby they just sat the suitcase in front of us. I would imagine at the minimum they would offer to deliver it to our room immediately?! Breakfast was very average for its price. Long line at breakfast. Scuba diving was full for the day. This is only day1. Can't wait to go home even when we don't have to pay for it. Poor internet reception in the room. Only AT&T cell phone works here. Don't expect to work. Couples definitely avoid. Maybe ok for families. What a disaster. read more

I can't believe I never wrote a review. Maybe it's because I am wishing to go back and was waiting to do the updated one:-P This hotel is all around AMAZING! This vacation was one of the best vacations of my life. I will never ever forget this vacation. There are just some places you go, and after a while your memory does not retain the details, not this one. My mind and heart will forever hold the fun and fond memories that were made here. The Ritz employees truly believe in and deliver superb customer service. Check was not by far crowded and super smooth. They give you rum punch upon your arrival. We received an upgrade to a high floor two room Suite because our initial room had some water issues. They resolved the issue very quickly and with the utmost professionalism. It's a large resort with multiple buildings, so they drive you to and from in golf carts. The room was clean, spacious and had a balcony with a view that overlooked the pool grounds and the water. They provided complimentary plush robes and house shoes for your stay. We could also see the neighboring Island St. John. The pool and hotel grounds are just breathtakingly beautiful. The pool was never overcrowded from my experience and we were able to get chairs with no problem. The staff by the pool are super nice, always greeting you with a smile and were always helpful. Ate at the pool for lunch and the food was good. Did not eat at the Ritz for dinner because we rented a car, so we ventured around the island a bit. We ate and partied in Red Hook. Dined at the Big Bamboo and the food was not that impressive I must admit. Duffys Love Shack is a must do for some late night fun, with a DJ and live entertainment. We took the ferry over to St. John for the day and to go to Trunk Bay Beach, which by the way is a must if you want to see one of the beaches rated the most beautiful beach in the world. I swear it's so beautiful, with white sand, crystal clear blue, green water that it doesn't look real. It's one of those beaches you take a picture of and use as your screen saver on your computer and as the cover on your Christmas card pictures. We also visited Coki Beach, which is also another beautiful beach that's located on the St. Thomas Island. I truly believe ALL of their beaches are just breathtakingly beautiful!! Ate at the beautiful Havana Blue restaurant in St. Thomas and it was really good. The service was exceptional. It would be wise to make reservations ahead of time on the weekends. I made our reservation before leaving weeks in advance just to secure the date and time I wanted. All in all I LOVED this trip and the overall experience of the Ritz Carlton and U.S. Virgin Islands. It's a beautiful place. The people here are not snobbish or rich assholes as you might expect at a Ritz Carlton property. It's really a family friendly hotel. Is it expensive YES! This isn't an all-inclusive hotel. But if you save and plan ahead, it will not seem so bad. I would suggest renting a car and not cabbing it everywhere because that can get expensive. If you rent a car you will be able to go to the grocery store for snacks, drinks and anything else from home you need. Remember this is US soil, so they have every chain restaurant you can think of there too. Also, a nice plus is the duty free tax when shopping. read more

Lovely spot. Nice quiet beach. The pools are well kept and clean. My kids loved the medium sized water slide. Service overall was good, the staff overwhelmingly is very welcoming and work to help you out as much as possible. We would return. Cons: the food on the resort is very expensive and very mediocre. The Alloro restaurant was very nice but for 2 adults and 2 kids we paid over $200 for one dinner. Kids meals are HUGE (ridiculous waste) and are $15 each. Also minimal food variety for kids. They survived on spaghetti and chicken tenders. Would be good to add in things like small burger, hot dog, a rice option, smoothies/yogurt, applesauce and some veggie options. Off-resort is fairly dead. There is one area Red Hook up the way about 8 min drive. There are some decent places to eat there (Pesce was quite good and I recommend that for adults, a bit fancy for small kids) but the area felt unsafe after dark. A nice coffee place (Lattes in Paradise) is there. But just a bit inconvenient from the resort. I think there has been business loss with hurricanes and covid. Hope they rebuild the area to match the luxury of the resort. read more

It's obvious even before you get here that this is a really. nice. hotel. The open-air, Italian-esque main building is gorgeous, and it's a great place to sit and soak up the sea breezes and amazing views of St. John. I'm pretty sure our room was bigger than my apartment, with a deep bathtub and a balcony overlooking the bay. The infinity pool is beautiful and open all the time - I definitely recommend late-night swimming here. The best part, though, is the beach. With two pavilions, hammocks, shade trees, lounge chairs and drink service, in addition to the god-given white sand, clear blue water and postcard-ready island views, I had a hard time pulling myself away. The bay is surrounded by coral reefs, so the snorkeling is fantastic. I saw all manner of brightly-colored fishes, squid, different kinds of rays and several large barracuda (really, there's nothing like finding yourself face-to-face with a 5 foot long sharp-fanged fish to awaken the senses). You can also take out kayaks, paddle boats and little sailboats if you know how to sail - I'm not sure how they determine that, though, since I watched the boats flip upside-down in the middle of the bay a few times. I hate to give this place less than 5 stars, but I feel I must because of the food. There are three restaurants on-site, and it's not that the food's bad - in fact, some of it is quite good for hotel dining - but it's viciously overpriced. If you're planning on staying at the Ritz, I recommend making a trip into Red Hook and picking up some cereal and snacks to keep yourself from going postal after a couple days of $16 burgers and $19 continental breakfasts (cold only!) All in all, the Ritz makes the best of a fantastic natural setting, and it's a fabulous home base for exploring the islands. read more

I've been coming to this hotel for a little over 6 years now and it is still fabulous. The first time we stayed here, we stayed in the hotel and during a rainy day, made a trip to the sales office and purchased a fractional ownership over at the Club side of the property. The rest is history, I suppose. We've been coming down to the club side since 2004 for every Christmas as well as a few other times throughout the year. The pools and beaches are impeccable - there's even an "adult only" pool to avoid all the little kiddies! The facilities are great as well. The member's lounge and the hotel lobby both have all-day coffee service (really good coffee) as well as computers that you can use to surf the internet at your convenience. The gym is good too--I think it could always stand to be a bit cooler, but for the most part, the cardio equipment is working well and their is a satisfactory range of machines and weights as well. I can't speak to the hotel in terms of the rooms; since I stayed at the hotel size, the resort completed a huge makeover to the rooms (over $2 million). The club residences are great. All the units are either two or three bedrooms, with 2.5 or 3.5 baths and a full kitchen. It's like renting a vacation home with all the amenities (including daily maid and turn down service). If you're looking for a good place to stay, I highly recommend the Ritz. Just stay away from the restaurants. Like another reviewer said, they tend to be incredibly over-priced, full of young children, and you can easily find better food at other restaurants off the property. read more

Last minute they charged a $50 "service fee", said 15% of that went to the woman that did the facial, and then announced to the lobby when I didn't leave a huge tip. We went here for our honeymoon and it was truly paradise! We travel often from several beaches we have been to - Mexico, Caymans, Barbados, Bahamas, etc. St. Thomas was the perfect pace for our honeymoon Relaxing, but not boring. There were tons of wonderful places to eat, beautiful beaches, and great options to spend a couple days doing activities. We were there for 6 days and spent 2 out and about and the other pretty much soaking up the hotels amazing amenities. Upon arrival at the hotel, the valets parked our rental jeep (which was always super easy and quick to get) and took us to the gorgeous lobby to get checked in. We then took a golf cart to our room which could not have been more perfect! Comfy bed, patio we enjoyed breakfasts and drinks on and a large bathroom with a fabulous tub and shower. All of the food we had while at the resort was delicious! One day we went to the beach when the bell rang and helped them bring in all of the fish and lobsters. We were then treated to dinner enjoying those exact fish and lobsters - to die for! Other favorites of the resort included the spa and the wonderful beachside service. I did a few trips to the spa and my facial was wonderful! I brought my book with me and hung out in the relaxation room for awhile drinking tea and reading to get out of the sun for a bit after my facial. The beachside service was great! Great chairs and any drinks or food ordered came out quickly and were super yummy! We went paddle boarding one day and my husband kayaked while I was at the spa. My fiancé and I are frequent Ritz Carlton vacationers, this was our first time at the St Thomas resort and sad to say it will be our last as well. After reading reviews we understood that the hotel is just starting to come back together after the hurricane/ renovation. Upon arrival to the hotel our check in process was very strange. We were kind of brought around to different areas of the lobby until we were sat down and someone came over to help us. It seemed like staff was unsure what to do with us. We didn't like that our bags were sitting in a pile of other peoples luggage's outside the hotel until our room was ready. (Mind you we absolutely love the Ritz located on cayman island, and all their other properties). Our hotel tour guide was great in showing us around and answering general questions. The view from the resort is stunning in itself. It was pouring our first day so we were looking to browse the shops at the hotel / do anything, however only their jewelry store is open, all the other shops are not yet ready. To my knowledge there is no arcade or really much else to do besides lounge at the pool / beach activities and excursions. Calling concierge the staff wasn't very knowledgeable on what stores are open, which surprised us. (Also we were being called by the wrong last name our entire trip, don't know what was up with that). We had club access where we spent a lot of our time having drinks and munching on snacks - which was nice. Our first night we ate at Bleu-water restaurant, the atmosphere was bland, decor was lacking, it came across like more of a family restaurant less of a romantic feel we were trying to go for being a steakhouse. Our food took over an hour to come out. However our food was tasty. Our next day we reserved a cabana by the pool, which was nice. When we got to the pool area I let staff know we have a cabana reserved and we were told "oh no they are all reserved" I let them know I reserved mine a week before our trip, then I was led to my cabana, which was not set up yet. It was 11am, they rent out from 9am for the day. Service was just ok. The beach is not the most enjoyable due to all the coral / sea grass. This is definitely not a pure white sand beach (Incase that's what you are looking for). Only one pool is open right now, so everyone is congested into one area. There is a slide being built which looks fun for the kids. I highly recommend taking the ferry over to trunk bay beach in St. John, it was the highlight of our trip. That beach is beautiful, pure and memorable. Pros: Staff was very very kind. They can drive you anywhere via golf cart should you choose not to walk. I truly feel bad writing this review because staff is so so nice, however they were poorly trained/ lacking guidance. The room was clean and newly renovated. Bathroom was extremely spacious / perks for water toilet having its own door. The property was beyond beautiful and everything is just a close walk away. Cons: besides everything I mentioned already: bathrobe was dirty with makeup smears. Food not good. Served raw food twice on our trip. Overall we love staying at the Ritz properties, (we love being club level) however there are nicer Ritz carribean locations than st Thomas, they still need to get their act together here a bit to say the least. Nothing to quite rave about just yet. Food options could be better. Service at coconut cove was very strange, my food was raw, food is not Ritz Carlton quality. Room service food quality was not good, plates came dirty and food didn't look pleasant to eat. A Ceasar salad at the ritz should not be salad from a bag with bagged shredded cheese, soggy pieces of bread serving as croutons and bottled dressing. Our room service chicken fingers were completely raw, pink. My husband got sick. The kids can get sick this way.. Where is the ritz quality? This luxury hotel giant is going down hill. Staying at the Ritz was the highlight of our honeymoon. The grounds are beautiful, the staff extremely warm and inviting and a plethora of activities onsite. To be honest, we had a difficult time leaving the resort. Our only difficulty was the distance to Charlotte Amelie; which was quite a hassle to get to (the traffic and getting used to driving on the other side of the many unmarked lanes was a bit hairy at times). We had a private couples massage by the water which was an amazing. The fitness facilities are top notch and the onsite water activities, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, we're all quite enjoyable. The pool was great and our room was even more amazing. Had a great experience. It is expensive but if you are going all in to go to a Ritz what do you expect? Pool is beautiful and the kayaking and snorkeling of off the beach were great. The staff are attentive and very friendly. The resort itself is spotless. The only negative is that the food could have been better specially breakfast. We did discover Zest up by the health center which does egg sandwiches and baked goods and good coffee which I highly recommend over the other options. Cabs are $5 per person into nearby Red Hook if you are looking for some lively nightlife or to get off resort for lunch or dinner or to grab the ferry to St. John. The hotel was gorgeous. The beach and infinity pool were very well maintained and a perfect place to relax. I would give this hotel 5 stars, but I thought the upkeep of the room wasn't up to the typical Ritz quality. One of the lights was very dusty ,and the bathtub had some rust. Also in the middle of showering it seemed to run out of pressure/water. I waited 10 minutes and tried again and water was flowing. I'm guessing this was a glitch as the next morning I showered without any issues. Although minor issues,for the price I was paying I expected much higher quality. I took a cab from the airport to the hotel for $18 for one person. When you first arrive to the hotel check in at the front desk then one of the bellmen drive a golf cart like vehicle with you and your luggage to your room. This is also when you get your complementary rum punch. I arrived early and was able to check in early. read more

My husband and I were blessed enough to spend a week here for our honeymoon! The view was extremely gorgeous. They also have water amenities included to keep you busy while your enjoying your vacation. All the areas we went to were clean, had staff present where ever you were, and food was delicious! Check the evenings when they will have music while you eat that made the environment so much fun! I would also suggest in going outside the Ritz as well to get to know the island more. One evening we took the ferry to go over St John to see additional beaches in the area which I recommend. We also took the Lady Lyndsey for a romantic evening to St John and that was a huge highlight. They serve you snacks for the short ride and let you know the best spots to eat while you there. Limited menus and high cost On site which the Ritz will not tell you about is Grand Palazzo Restaurant in the top of one of the resident condo buildings. Great views and food is terrific. Review is for food only: I've been stepping up my game but I haven't reached 'vacationing at the Ritz' baller status yet. I did however have the pleasure of eating here and walking through the hotel on my way to the back bar area. First off, the hotel is gorgeous. I suppose it's what you'd expect but it really is a thing of beauty to look at. In the center is a wonderful courtyard that is open to the sky and there are tons of plants and lounging areas. We walked around semi lost inside the hotel on the way to the back area but we quite enjoyed taking the scenic route and looking at all the open space and different areas that there was in here. For food we settled on getting the lobster pizza and decided to try two specialty drinks. I love mojitos so I opted for the one with with coconut flavor in it. I would have written about how upset I was how long the drinks took to come but the waiter was nice enough to apologize to us and we ended up getting the drinks removed from the bill. THAT is service. The mojito itself was good but I cant say I could really taste or spot the coconut. The pizza itself was very good with plentiful chunks of lobster in it and a nice crispy crust. It's one of the better pizza's ive had. Overall I would def return if I happened to be on vacation and was nearby. random comment: We were the only brown people I saw in the entire place lol. Here's my issues with the Ritz because at $600+ a night I didn't expect the following ..... 1) I don't expect to have the landscaping team start running their loud machines around 8-8:30am every morning. People are on vacation and don't expect to be awaken every morning by a lawn mower or a weed eater especially by 8:30am. Ridiculous 2) the walls don't block sound. I could hear everyone's conversation as they walked down the walkway outside the bedroom door. 3) impossible to get a lawn chair on the beach every day. It's not even that busy. Please buy more chairs for the beach. Plenty available at the pool it seems. 4) my shower leaked water on the bathroom floor. I asked for this to be fixed but that didn't happen I just ended up mopping the water up with towels every time. That's about it. We loved our time here. If you want everything in one place, definitely go here. We had a few issues with being double charged for our room, but they handled it well. One of my favorite things about this place is the iguanas everywhere! So cool. Beach: This is the whole reason we chose this place. They have a private beach which is said to be one of the best on the island. It's sheltered and they offer a lot of free equipment. We went snorkeling (reefs on both sides) and kayaking (glass bottom) every day. There was a barracuda they told us to be careful of. And one day I was knee deep in water, had just finished putting on my flippers, dove into the water and found myself face-to-face (literally 3-feet distance from my face) with a giant sting ray. They did tell us there were two that lived around there (they may've had their stinger's removed -- can't remember), but that was a surprise. And I think I scared the entire beach. But on the flip side, we saw sea turtles while kayaking a few times, and I even saw a live conch! Service: They did double charge our week's stay which gave us some sticker shock. But they remedied it. Everyone was really friendly. We got there and they gave us drinks. Took us on a golf cart to the room. Helped with luggage. No complaints. I also couldn't decide where to put this, but I'd have to say it goes under service/food. One afternoon, a fishing boat pulled up to the beach with buckets of fish and lobster. The head chef explained he didn't like their fish delivery that day, so these guys were bringing in what they'd caught. Another couple that was there convinced them to let us buy a few fresh-off-the-boat lobsters, and the chef grilled them up, added some side dishes, and brought them to us at the infinity pool. Lobster dinner in bikinis with that view? Hell yes. It was unforgettable and one of the highlights. Kudos to the staff for letting us do this. Rooms: We had a gorgeous view. Most of the rooms do. Everything was up to the standards you come to expect from the Ritz. No complaints. Amenities: The infinity pool is fantastic. Gym was clean -- good choice of classes. Food: The food is great, but -- like most Ritz -- really highly priced. You could leave and go into Red Hook for a cheaper meal though. But the sushi restaurant was on point. And if you go during regular season, the club (add'l. cost) includes breakfast, light lunch, dinner apps, desserts and free drinks all day. Totally worth the extra cost IMO. Oh and beware of the bushwacker -- a local St. Thomas drink the pool bartender recommends. They taste like a milkshake but will knock you out. Cost: The Ritz is always a pretty penny. I was lucky that I found a deal online. We went in August, and our trip straddled the official start of "hurricane season." Of course, I bought insurance. But the nice thing was that the place emptied out half way through our trip. And the weather was fantastic. In fact, they'd had a huge storm come through a few weeks before our trip, which we'd just missed. Unfortunately, the club closed halfway through our stay, too. But totally worth it, I'd say. Overall: This resort has it all. I normally like staying somewhere that provides easy accessible to all the local favorites, but that requires a lot of planning and can be exhausting. I was looking for a place I could go to, enjoy the beach, and not stress. And this place is self-contained. If you didn't want to, you wouldn't have to leave the resort. And if you decide you do, your just a short drive to the ferry to go to St. John's, which you can see from the resort. read more
