It is never open. Prices are way too expensive for just a small town roadhouse. More of a place just to play pool and drink.

If you're visiting the Cooperstown area or anywhere in upstate New York, this is an absolute must-see. We've been coming here for years, and every visit reminds us why it's one of our favorite breweries. The staff is always professional, friendly, and attentive, making the experience enjoyable from the moment you arrive. We live in Texas and were in Cooperstown for a baseball tournament, which gave us another excuse to stop by. I had enjoyed Ommegang's Belgian-style beers for years, but this visit gave me the opportunity to explore more of their lineup. I was impressed by the variety of styles available, and everything I sampled was exceptionally well crafted. The food was excellent as well. The poutine was a standout and tasted every bit as authentic as the poutine I've enjoyed in Canada. It's not always easy to find great food at a brewery, but Ommegang delivers on both fronts. The setting is truly remarkable. Located on a 140-acre former hop farm just outside Cooperstown, the property feels more like a Belgian monastery than a brewery. The beautiful buildings, open spaces, and wooded surroundings create an experience that is worth the trip all by itself. The grounds are impeccably maintained and provide a perfect backdrop for enjoying a pint. Having been open since 1997, it's clear that Brewery Ommegang has had decades to refine both its beer and its operation. Everything feels polished, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Hands down, this is one of the coolest breweries I have ever visited. Great beer, excellent food, fun activities, beautiful scenery, and outstanding service make Brewery Ommegang a place that we look forward to returning to every time we're in the area.

This is a great place to come for friendly conversations and even larger groups. The food is mostly fried and is very flavorful but everything that was cooked was overcooked. The fries were somewhat burned and the chicken was so over fried it was almost inedible. Luckily it was a nice location but not if you want amazing food.

There is a bar as well as booth seating but no direction or indication of waiting to be seated or seating yourself. I didn't want to go unnoticed so I sat at the bar. (Most of the tables are past the entry way and bar area). There was a family group, a few couples and a group of guys playing darts off to the side. I sat there for more than five minutes before I was even acknowledged. I know this because I could see the Guinness Countdown to St Patrick's Day (down to the second) from my seat. There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered them, along with a Cooley's Handmade Burger with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. I opted to bring the rest of my pickles home and I can tell you that even the next day, with the help of the air fryer, they were still tasting great! I am so glad I stayed!

And of course this was OK and…read morebecause I hadn't been on the town in the City of Hills in a while I took to searching on the asterisk and was all what is this HCG place. Apparently it's been here for awhile. Admittedly I just come and go but I come and go pretty regularly and think I'm reasonably observant but yet. Totally in the dark. E had never been either but her tastes generally orient in a different direction so there's that. We went. Then, a week later, I went again. This time taking a different pair of kin as their Christmas supper. Because it was that good of an experience. All around. Totally. From the front of the house to the lady behind the bar which sadly is only half a bar because they are too close to a church to serve whisky. What an awesome law. Because you know that everybody on the way to church would see this establishment that's closed during church and be all omg I totally want a whisky right now and off to Walmart they'd go to get some and there would never be anybody in the pew. Sorry. Sidetrack. Yes. Everybody was so nice! And attentive and fun to hang out with while asking for food and provenance and the rest. The meals were delicious. Had brussels sprouts app one day and the cauliflower that tastes like chicken wings the next. Hanger steak was in my belly one night and the sirloin special the next. I liked the hanger better but not by much and it's on the regular menu so there you go. Get yourself some. I think there was a halibut and a sea bass or one or the other in there and many of the local IPA and their small brew on tap selection felt pretty good so I wasn't wanting for anything. Save maybe a whisky.
