If you're visiting the Cooperstown area or anywhere in upstate New York, this is an absolute must-see. We've been coming here for years, and every visit reminds us why it's one of our favorite breweries. The staff is always professional, friendly, and attentive, making the experience enjoyable from the moment you arrive. We live in Texas and were in Cooperstown for a baseball tournament, which gave us another excuse to stop by. I had enjoyed Ommegang's Belgian-style beers for years, but this visit gave me the opportunity to explore more of their lineup. I was impressed by the variety of styles available, and everything I sampled was exceptionally well crafted. The food was excellent as well. The poutine was a standout and tasted every bit as authentic as the poutine I've enjoyed in Canada. It's not always easy to find great food at a brewery, but Ommegang delivers on both fronts. The setting is truly remarkable. Located on a 140-acre former hop farm just outside Cooperstown, the property feels more like a Belgian monastery than a brewery. The beautiful buildings, open spaces, and wooded surroundings create an experience that is worth the trip all by itself. The grounds are impeccably maintained and provide a perfect backdrop for enjoying a pint. Having been open since 1997, it's clear that Brewery Ommegang has had decades to refine both its beer and its operation. Everything feels polished, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. Hands down, this is one of the coolest breweries I have ever visited. The Brewery location is beautiful and the beer is very respectable. The ambiance of this nostalgic location is the most noticeable on arrival. This is a great place to come for friendly conversations and even larger groups. The food is mostly fried and is very flavorful but everything that was cooked was overcooked. The fries were somewhat burned and the chicken was so over fried it was almost inedible. Luckily it was a nice location but not if you want amazing food. read more

Great beer. Gnommegang is one of my favorite beers of all time! If you go, get the fries and their aioli (pesto, truffle and garlic). Chicken and waffles were fine, but I was disappointed they wont take substitutions on JUST this menu item- maybe they will reconsider if people can continue to ask... I appreciate the raspberry jam, but I personally think it tastes weird with the scallions (after I removed them myself) and doesn't pair well with the bacon flavor gravy (bechamel). Small portions, were not serving the menu item I planned to order based on the online menu. I liked the J and J pretzels they use, but they should be house made, or kore need to come in an order. I was a little upset to find out the local supermarket was selling their 4 packs cheaper than what you can at their location. Feel like it is becoming a tourist trap... read more

Forget about the food and stick with the beer. Also, forget about a decent bartender. The $20. beer glass is worth the price. We visited while we were waiting for our table. It took one of the two bartenders maybe 4 minutes to notice us. For our dinner I ordered the Crispy Clucker. The chicken was so well done that I could have broken a tooth biting into it. The server removed it from our bill. My wife did not see anything on the limited menu so she got the appetizer Pretzel Sticks. She enjoyed her meal. The location was clean. read more

Our server was terrific and our food was good. The brew was the star. This place is great for families with kids who love to run outside before or after your meal . We love this brewery. We live in AZ and drive to the East coast every summer. We had the pleasure of having Allie as our server. It was a very busy Sat and there were 100's of bikers for an event that showed up. But Allie had no problem taking care of our group of 10. She was spot on and took time to shoot the shit with us. What an awesome location. I believe they have something like 300 acres and it does not look like an brewery, but more like a large distillery. Great service and food, we had the chicken and waffles (some of the best I have had since Besaw's in Portland, changed locations) and my work mate had the chicken sandwich with home made fries. Beers without saying are awesome, I have always been a fan of them and I was surprised to find them close to where I was working for the week. Side note, according to one of the staff this place is crazy in the summer and I can see why. Hands down one of the coolest breweries I have visited. read more

Definitely a destination brewery. Make the drive if you can - very much worth it. We visited on a Saturday night in May while on a weekend trip to Cooperstown. We've had their beer many times as they distribute widely in South Jersey where we are from, but this was our first time at the brewery. It's a beautiful property, a massive compound nestled in the trees on the outskirts of Cooperstown on a 140 acre former hop farm that now feels like a Belgian monastery. The beautiful area and buildings are worth the visit alone, but the beer is also amazing. They've been open since 1997, so they've had time to perfect their beer and overall operation. As it was a Saturday night, we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but it wasn't too bad especially because they had live music, and the wait gave us time to peruse their expansive gift shop. My girlfriend and I each had a flight, mostly with limited release beers only available at the brewery. Each one was divine. In terms of food, the standout was the ahi tuna poke bowl. My son definitely enjoyed the table shuffleboard which we played for a while. Overall this is a spectacular place that we can't wait to come back to sometime, hopefully soon! read more

I have never come across a staff that was so adversarial. It was pretty wild. The good: -The facility is absolutely beautiful. There is a dedicated restaurant with a huge, covered(well-shaded) outdoor patio - that's where we sat, and a beer tent of sorts with outdoor foodtrucks (not sure I didnt look too closely). There is an enormous outdoor area directly adjacent to the outdoor seating that is on a gentle slope. Kids play out there obviously. What a great way for them to burn off energy. The interior of the restaurant is very classy with a great ambiance. This would be a favorite place of mine if I lived in the area. -Food was great - well mine was anyway. Got the House Roast beef that was outstanding. Rest of my family got some sort of chicken sandwich they said was mid, but I didnt taste it. The bad: I've been to thousands of restaurants in my life. I've had "A" bad server...seen "A" bad manager, etc. Never seen a full staff of them. On their website, they have rules for seating: -max people per table, no combining tables. -kids cant sit alone. -no reservations. etc, etc. Fine, but the hostess was noticeably rude explaining all this to my wife. Maybe she was having a bad day, but then the manager joined in....apparently she was having a bad day also? A third person was there, and they outnumbered my wife who came over to me looking like she had been "put in her place." Interesting customer service.. We showed with roughly 60 people, ordered roughly $1k in food, and there should have been between $200 and $300 in tips available for the wait staff, but these people acted like they were annoyed that we wanted to eat there? I was a server through high school and college. A group this big - with the money to afford a trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park - is a HUUGE win for the wait staff. It would basically double their earnings for the night if not more AND we showed after any dinner rush, so this simultaneously doubles the tip income AND makes it easier to serve. The wait staff...LOL. We showed about 7:15PM. Our waitress informed us that we better get our orders in before 7:30 because they close at 8 (Website shows they close at 10) - first time I've heard that in a restaurant. She also appeared annoyed that we showed.. Then the rest of our party got there, were advised that we cant sit together, some had the same waitress. Our friends at the table next to us turned around and looked at us after she took our order and said "Was she like that with you guys?" LOL One of our party had been looking at a menu online, and ordered some sort of mac 'n cheese she saw on the menu online, and the waitress snapped at her saying "We dont have that - I dont care what the menu online says." LOL We ordered another dish of something, and our rockstar waitress informed us "well we're not supposed to put in anymore orders once the table has ordered..." ????? Read the other reviews with lower ratings - there are similar experiences. Strange for a restaurant to have a sub-4 star rating isnt it? I suspect if you sit in the restaurant as a 2 or 4-top you're ok. Or maybe if you're just there to drink. If you're in town for Cooperstown with a bunch of families, try a different place. The mix of animosity and apathy from the staff is just too much to justify spending $30/person. Not to mention - with the staff acting so irritated that we even showed up, I was little suspicious of the quality of the food when it came out. read more

Outstanding building and property. The large back patio was the best and the expansive grass areas let the kids run wild, playing Frisbee and whiffle ball. The only positive part of our experience was our server Tom. He was great but the hostess needs to be fired. We arrive and the hostess finally comes back after about 10 minutes to seat another table and tells us it will be a 15 minute wait. We walk to the bathroom and the restaurant is empty and the staff is standing around talking to each other. I go back up to ask how long and then she tells us it will be 30 minutes. So we walk outside and 2 minutes later they text us the table is ready. Tons on empty tables inside and out but we are told we can only sit inside. The food was terrible except the frites. This is a special place! Their beer selection is very broad. My favorite was the Neon Rainbow. Their beer is located all throughout the town and in the many restaurants in Cooperstown. The food was excellent. I went twice just to enjoy the chicken and waffle. Instead of syrup the use a maple bacon bechamel...bechamel is like gravy. The raspberry jam drizzle gives it a little acid and balances the dish nicely. The property is gorgeous. Large indoor seating area and a large covered outdoor area. There is a massive (two football field size) grass field where kids typically play wiffel ball. The staff is very nice, don't expect all of them to know everything about the beer menu but they do work hard. we were in for a baseball tournament and the place was slammed. Absolute horrible customer service. Went in the morning with my wife before Cooperstown game to test the waters before bringing all the team family members. My wife sampled Peach on the rocks and loved it so we got the 20 dollar glasses that you could refill all week for 5$. Seemed like a great deal since we enjoy beer. We left the game little early to get a table outside to fit everyone and when we walked in they told my wife she couldnt refill the glass anymore with the peach on the rocks. That was the whole reason we got the glasses. they said we could only buy 5 ounce glasses of it. In my eyes the bar wanted to make the most profit on the keg sell the more expensive option. I reached out to the GM to see if we could get a discount on poutine fries or maybe return the glasses since we were not returning after our experience. Basically shrugged me off and didnt respond to my reply email about just doing that. We took the team and family members accross the street to Northway Brewery and had a blast. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. Im going to actually try to reach someone higher that the gm so complain to now that we are home. I hope Shiloh Stott the GM sees this message because i even told him I would be reaching out to find the owners after our vacation was over to let them know they lost at least 3000 dollars more in business because we went out 2 more nights and easily spent over 1k each night. read more

Man, despite their lack of good signage etc yesterday--I'm in the camp where f you're closed for a private event (in the case os 10/12/24, a wedding) you need more than a modest banner on your website and one post on your secondary instagram (that isn't the re-shared on the brewery's main one), like a sign out front by the poorly lit sign for the brewery--Ommegang was worth the buzz. This place is great. Well worth the buzz and a must visit in cooperstown. After a full day at the Hall of Fame, we got 2 flights. In sum, the: Cooper's hop, Abbey Ale, Gnommegang, Dream patch, watermelon falls, keep it crunchy, All hallows treat, and the Chai Cider. We were singing each's praises. That last one was awesome. Watermelon Falls is a watermelon Jolly Rancher, Gnommegang was refreshing. "Keep it crunchy" was tasty. All Hallows Treat is one of the best Halloween-y seasonals we've had ever. We will return. First time here. This summer was our second trip to participate in the Cooperstown at All Star Village. We had this brewery on our list of places to visit when we come back. This was the year that we got to stop by. After a long day in Cooperstown visiting the Hall of Fame and all the things, coming to OG (short for Ommegang) with our team and wonderful parents was a nice way to end the hot day. The boys went outside in the heat to play wiffle ball while the parents ordered and indulged in some beer tasting. It was pretty good and refreshing. The food was good and offered creative dishes similar to what I see in California so that was nice. My only tip is if you come with a group, and you sit at different tables, each table is with a different waiter/waitress so if your kid is sitting at another table and orders with that tables wait staff, you will have to pay that person for your kid's bill. It can irritate the staff to have to break up the bills and it's a hassle I get it. To divide up the bill for 8-9 families and their kids. read more

I don't live here and only visited for like 3 days but came here twice in the short time I was in town. As San Diegans, we appreciate good beers, and are a bit selective, since we have access to tons of excellent beers. We've long enjoyed Ommegang beers, and getting to come drink from the source in person was a treat!!! They really do solid Belgians, and I had a sour I liked as well. If youre in Cooperstown and you are a beer drinker I assume you dont need a review to make the pilgrimage but here you go. We went at 11 on a sunday right when it opened which was a good call as when we left there were approximately 4 full little league teams seeing how close balls could get to us. The food was pretty standard, the beers great, the staff was EXCELLENT and really knew their stuff! We had Kerry (Kary?) outside and whenever we had a question on the beer was really able to get us where we needed to go. Dan the manager chatted with us for a minute and then we had an amazing chat and tasting with Shilo- who knew so many tales about belgian brewing. Definitly a highlight of our trip. Sizeable bottle shop if the kids outside get to be too much you can stock up on to-gos. read more

Great spot for lunch if you're traveling through the area! Around 1pm on a Saturday we were able to get right in and the patio was wide open. My sister had tried a flight - generous pours - and I had Dream Patch (two thumbs up for this sour). We tried the Brussels sprouts appetizer and then we both had the chicken sandwich. Brussels could have used a touch of salt, but were otherwise perfect. We both LOVED the chicken sandwich. Crispy but not dry, and the hot honey was a nice addition. I'll give them this: the beer is fantastic. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end, because the actual brewery experience was one of the most bizarrely mismanaged things I've ever seen. Plenty of empty tables, yet somehow you're not allowed to sit at them. Why? Who knows. So instead, I got the privilege of squeezing into a bar seat while being blasted with what I can only assume was their "how-to-clear-a-room" playlist. Nothing says "relax and enjoy a pint" like 30 minutes of ear-splitting noise and arbitrary seating rules that would stump a NASA engineer. It honestly feels like the people running this place are doing everything possible to sabotage their own product. Great beer, but wrapped in one of the dumbest, most frustrating customer experiences imaginable. Congrats -- you've managed to make me swear off coming back. read more

They literally have the best beer in the area. I came here for a private MLB event and was blown away by the taste of the beers and ciders that they made. I actually met the owner and he's an amazing dude. The service here was great. Everyone had a smile and was very hospitable. And the brewery itself is huge. They have a great patio for dancing in events and inside is big as well. An awesome place to hold any private event. When I'm in the area, I will return. read more

Ommegang is by far my favorite brewery! I have not been here since before 2020 so it was the first time I've seen the remodel. The place looks amazing. There was an event on the day we went so it was busier than usual. Seating in the back section inside the restaurant is not ideal. It is very cold and you have the constant justly bustle from the kitchen area. Outside seating and bar area seating are ideal. Outside has games that the kids could play and a large field to run around in. Bring a soccer ball to kick around! Great place to spend time and have amazing beers! read more

If you are going to be close to Cooperstown dreams park I would think you'd have a kids menu, but I digress. Also, docking it one more star because of what a pain it was to pay at the end. They don't split checks - you pay by table only. I have a hard time believing that in 2026 you have POS system that doesn't have the capability to split a check. I worked in the restaurant industry 20 years ago and every system did this (and still does). We had a very large group (40+ people) with families split at various tables with kids wanting to sit with their buddies. We wanted to pay by player number to keep it nice and clean, instead we spent 20 minutes at the end with people at my table doing the math since the waitress "couldn't split our items out" on the computer. This is a place we've wanted to visit for several years and we finally go there. We started with a tasting with Shiloh which I would definitely recommend. He is very knowledgeable about the beer they brew. We learned some interesting things and got a quick tour of the area near the brewery. We followed that with lunch. Our waitress was Coleen who was helpful and friendly. We tried a variety of things and shared. The fries were delicious. I think the star of the day was the macaroni and cheese with beer cheese. It was stringy and delicious. The other thing I heard about long after we were gone was the chicken sandwich. My mother in law liked it so much she mentioned it several more times during our trip. VERY NICE BREWERY. GREAT APPETIZERS! Tried out Ommegang Brewery last night with our baseball group. I had a tough time deciding between 3 and 4 stars because there were many pros and cons but ultimately I went with 4 stars because we really enjoyed our time. Let me start with the pros: The Brewery's facility is BEAUTIFUL. Very clean, updated, and overall great ambience. There is lots of seating both inside and outside. While we sat inside to order from the restaurant, the outdoor patio and outdoor bar are fabulous. We also really enjoyed sampling the various beers, ciders, and seltzers, and really liked our appetizers: the crispy Brussels, pretzel with beer cheese, and Truffle Parm frites. Lastly, our waitress (I believe her name was Willow) was fantastic! Very attentive, helpful, and just made our time fun! Especially for a larger group. The cons, then, you might ask? Well, the kitchen lost our food order, so... we waited an hour and a half for food and ended up taking it to go. It was good we had our appetizers and lots of drinks because we didn't realize it had been so long because of Willows awesome service.
