Visited The Rock Box to see Like Moths to Flames and will definitely go back. Parking was easy. They have a lot that is $20 right across the street. We weren't familiar with the area and didn't want to circle for a street spot in case we were in a bad area. If we get there earlier next time maybe we'll look around. Easily got our wristbands and tickets scanned. The venue itself is much bigger than we expected! It was roomy and they had a full bar and snacks! The smell of popcorn was making me hungry lol! Women's bathrooms were clean. Most importantly, the sound was great. Security was also ON IT. They were walking through the crowd and standing around the sides watching. People moshed and crowd surfed, but it wasn't bad. They carried a drunk guy out immediately. This was a great place for a metal show. 5 stars - will be back. read more

Went to the Rock Box live on Thursday, May 30th and bought a $3 Sprite for my son. I left a $2 tip and the bartender claims to have accidentally scrolled down in error making their POS system changed my $2 tip to $2903.15. . It's been 7 days and they still have not returned my money or helped me. They keep claiming that they didn't withdraw the money from my account but thats not what my bank account says. When I'm at the Rockbox I'm only there for concerts so different the place has 2 rooms and a great setup for all genres of concerts From Emo to DJ to Rap to Deathcore/Metalcore and everything in between staff is pretty chill. read more

It's a good place, but its in an awkward spot and they charge $20 for parking and then $10 for admission. Now, once you get passed that it is a really great spot to see a live band. They have quite a few bands on any given night. The sound system is great and it can hold a ton of people. Their drinks and drink prices are average for a live venue. If your friends or family members band is playing there I would definitely say try it out. read more

I had purchased tickets to an event but as I'm walking to it I notice the parking attendant is directing people to double park, sealing all parked cars in until the person in front of you exits. The premier live music venue, or so their web site says. Just saw Diamante there, and here's my take: Neighborhood- would Uber in next time. Needs some urban renewal. Sound - ok but not the best in town. Stage - again OK. Interior - seems like some investment is in order. Paper Tiger nicer for sure, as are most Austin venues. Bar - one bartender was great. The other busy flirting with a girl while I waited. Slow tips on a slow night became no tips from me on a slow night. Attendance at show was poor. But, their website was broken for days for signup - I even called and tried to leave VM - which was full. The point is marketing was minimal. I felt badly for Diamante.... Granted, San Antonio doesn't have venues galore like Austin but this one needs some attention. I didn't see anything to support the claim of premier. read more

While I was there, I heard that they just finished installing A/C in the warehouse room next door so they will be bringing large shows back... a year and half later... Yeeppe!!! ~NOT~ why do we need another warehouse for club gigs in this town? ... 1/2 block away is Alamo City Music Hall aka Backstage Live. I was not able to get a straight answer on occupancy rate for this club. Everyone working there should know that number. I also couldn't find an occupancy certificate by the front door. This scares me. I hear they have crammed in over 3K for a show recently... and I couldn't get if that was just in the main room, which I think the he said, or if included the large warehouse room next door. Tobin holds 1750. Majestic holds 2200 (I think). Aztec 1500 (maybe). Alamo City Music Hall 1K (if I remember right.) I'm not exact on these numbers but close. I don't see the main room being bigger than ACMH, and I can not imagine that size of crowd jammed into that space GA/SRO. Oh the horror... and the heat! Parking is not easy. $10 seems to be the usual. There is a little area on the side of the venue. Spaghetti Warehouse across the street is now used for parking. There is a lot on the corner across the street... then some around ACMH... and if you are lucky, maybe you can find some street parking. I don't feel all that safe down in that area so I don't like going down there... and I don't like paying $10 for parking. Wish y'all would take pity on the single ladies and offer free parking for us that go out alone. There were a few bar tables available the last night that I went... as well as VIP seating for an extra charge. Although I do appreciate the promoters booking bands, I will continue to avoid the warehouse clubs as much as I possibly can. read more

Some girl with blue hair that works there came up to my fiancé and I while we were handing out flyers for twin productions. She harassed me and my fiancé because we weren't handing out enough flyers when there were already three other people doing it. She came up to us with crazy bad attitude saying "I work here, you can't give me attitude" like he shit doesn't stink. When I just had a friend that died and she was completely unsympathetic about it. So disrespectful and rude. Do not recommend this venue because of this one specific girl that works there. read more

The rock box is spacious and perfect for concerts and events. The staff and security are top notch and have attendees safety always in mind. The bar staff are top shelf friendly, knowledgeable and professional even when they are busy. The restrooms are big brightly lite and clean with pleanty of facilities. They have 2 atms.There is ample parking and usually a fantastic food truck offering immediately in the area. With 3 venue rooms and 2 bars in all the place has a little bit of everything for everyone. read more

So, I ordered two drinks from the bar here, first off, OVERPRICED ASF. I ordered two DRINKS not two warm ass shots in small plastics while everyone else got regular size cups. Went for a concert last night and I was on the guest list. I kept telling the staff repeatedly and they only kept asking do you have a ticket, do you have a ticket. By the time they brought out the guest list, they had already allowed the skip the line AND general admission people into the venue so I ended up in the back of the crowd. The wiener that took them called in to another staff member (couldn't face the people he stole from) and said he threw them in the trash! The first time here (OCT 27th) and it was a great time except for the promoter for tonight's event which has nothing to do with the owner of the bar or venue. Amazing people, quick bartenders, great sound system, and clean bathrooms. Everything you can ask for a concert event. I'll be returning soon just for the first impressions and the level of professionalism I experienced first hand. I hope the promoter sees this so she can know that she called my autistic friend "weird' and I hope the internet can find out who she was so she can be exposed for the lack of professionalism we encountered with her. read more

went for the shrek rave last night AND GOT HARRASED BY THE STAFF, my friends and i were so excited and had been looking forward on going to this event, we spent $110 dollars to go and they FORCE kicked us out. we were vibing to the music and letting loose and this f**king a**hole suddenly pulls me back, from my neck, breaking my necklaces and dragging me outside forcefully. on the way out i was thinking to myself "what the heck is happening" but it happened so suddenly i didnt even realize what was happening. i wish this guy would have just explainedd what was happening on the side, but he had to hit my stomach and literally throw me outside before even saying anything at all. he then started saying the reason to draging me out, and this guys accusations were incredibly off, he accused me of something terrible that i wouldnt even think of ever doing ever. when he kicked me out he left immediately, maybe because he knew that i didnt do anything wrong. this guy ruined my necklaces, my night with my friends, and f**king hit me so hard i almost threw up. my friends and i are of age and werent that drunk, we just wanted a night and go to our first 'rave' and we spent so much money just to get kicked out after just an hour of being there.. f**k that guy and his false accusations, get proof at least before harassing innocent people, we got robbed, never going to this place even if my favorite band is performinggg gkrkkrk read more

Slowest service ever. Waited 45min just to put an order in. There weren't many tables there, this coming from a former server myself. Both times servers/bartenders didn't even know what they had behind the bar or what drinks even were. The worst venue EVER. Attended Masqerage 19 (18 OCT). The bands were awesome. The employees are totally unprofessional, rude, & hate their jobs (especially the heavyset guy). Their only answer to any question is "I don't know ". There was no parking b/c it was blocked off for another event the next night (poor scheduling). There is NO seating inside & drinks are WAY OVERPRICED for watered down very SMALL cups. Sound was not balanced - fluctuated on who or what instrument we could hear. Here for Scott Stapp and they have the VIP location (fenced off with tables and chairs) right in front of the stage, dead center. A large area is taken away from the crowd due to the location of the VIP seating leaving the essence of a concert absent. There would be much better audience involvement and a better experience for the artist performing. Please move the VIP seating to make concerts more enjoyable. So bummed we could not get close to the front of the stage. POOR planning on the rock box. read more

I hate to down talk a local music venue , but I've been going to shows for years even attending the final shows of the white rabbit . This venue has the worst security and the most unprofessional bartenders , got choked by a security guard for turning around and helping a crowd surfer , he continued to tell me to stay out of his way later in the show the same security guard told me to calm down or he'd have me thrown out ALL FOR JUMPING AND SINGING AT A MOTIONLESS IN WHITE CONCERT . I attended a friend's show with a $10 cover this weekend,10/13/18. I paid the cover and tried to get a table near the stage, which is the normal thing to do, right? Wrong! Unbelievably and shockingly, I was told that those particular tables had an upcharge of $25. The only free tables were located in the back of the bar about 100 feet away from the stage. And of course, they were all taken so we had to stand. Is this a normal practice in other bars? We eventually scored a table; however, we had to schlep our own drinks because a waiter or waitress never made it to our table, which grew to eight guests btw. My buddy's show was great! The sound was average. The lighting was poor and they were missing a spotlight for the performers. Or maybe we couldn't see them because we had to sit so far away. Also, every interaction with the staff was met with a weird looks and confusion as if I was bothering them with my requests. Ex. I asked the cashier at the entrance about how to get a table and she said, "I don't know, you have to ask the bartender". . Wait . . What? I asked the bartender and she said I had to ask someone else. I asked someone else and she said that it was the owner's policy to charge the extra fee for tables. We stayed till 1:00 am and most of the pay tables with RESERVED placards remained empty all night long. Makes no sense at all. I give this place 6 months unless they change their policies and attitudes. read more

I have seen many shows here (use to be called 210 Kapones) and the place is ok. The sound at the Rock Box is good and to me its the most surprising thing about the place. Its just a warehouse next to the rail road tracks downtown. Same for Alamo City Music Hall which is two blocks north of the Rock Box. As another person stated, even the bathrooms are clean and the bar, while not fancy, does have a full staff and all the beer and spirits you need.
