I believe Mike is the greatest cabbie in the world, and I have a good reason for thinking so! A…read morefew years ago, I was attending my best friend's wedding in the San Juan Islands. I was in the wedding party and we all had matching blue suits. The night before the ceremony, I realized that I had failed to pack my pants. The closest place where I could hope to buy a substitute was Burlington, an hour inland from Anacortes. After taking the ferry from San Juan Island to Anacortes at 5:00am the day of the ceremony, I was very lucky to call Mike at A Cab for You. Here is a brief, by no means exhaustive list of the ways he helped me out: - After hearing my predicament, he offered to run errands in Burlington for an hour until the stores opened and then pick me up again when I had got my pants (which he then did). - As we waited for the stores to open, he even offered to take me to breakfast! Unfortunately Applebees was closed but it was a very nice thought. - As we were driving back to Anacortes, matching pants somehow procured at a Kohl's, I mentioned that it was a shame that I would be back at the ferry building at 10:30am but that the next boat wouldn't leave until 12:00pm, meaning I would still be cutting it quite close. Mike proposed that I instead fly - he had a pamphlet for San Juan Air in his cab. This is exactly what I did! - There was some question of whether the flight would take place due to cloudy weather. Mike offered to drop me at the ferry building but to pick me up again and take me to the airfield if I got word the flight would definitely happen. I again took him up on this offer and it again worked out perfectly. - As he dropped me at the airfield, Mike was extremely reluctant to take even a modest tip, and as he drove away, he stopped the car and shouted back, "The pants look great!" I wound up getting back to the wedding venue well before noon - hours before I would have had I not met Mike. I was completely in time for the wedding, with suitable pants to boot. This excellent man dedicated his whole morning to helping a stranger on some oddball quest. So, thank you Mike, and if you happen to read this, I am still thinking about your kindness and resourcefulness five years on.

Taking external factors out of the equation--like late airline flights, heavy traffic on the I-5 and 405, or the possibility of only one ferry running between Mukilteo and Clinton--the shuttle has been consistently on time or early almost every trip. The drivers are knowledgeable and friendly, with the exception of one who suggested I sit in the back because I was traveling with a cat. The service is incredibly convenient from both SeaTac and Paine Field. For those flying Alaska Airlines, the walk to the shuttle stop might be a bit longer, but with a little planning, the wait is minimal. I do wish Paine Field was easier to fly into, as it would save time compared to the shuttle ride from SeaTac to Coupeville. For $50 one way (plus an optional tip), the service is worth every penny. The shuttle is always the first vehicle to board the ferry, and the quick 15-minute ferry ride is seamless. The shuttles are comfortable, and I noticed they added a new vehicle during the 2024 holiday season. As long as I continue visiting Coupeville monthly, the Whidbey-SeaTac Shuttle will remain my go-to service.

When I called to book I mentioned 4 people and the woman said we'd need _____ as a vehicle. I don't know what their vehicles are so I don't know what that means. We've always had the same car pick us up, even when there were 4 of us. We've never needed any particular type of taxi vehicle as we've ridden in both conventional taxis or minivan taxis. A towncar would have been fine as well, as we've done that as a family. They showed up on time (as always) in a giant SUV. As someone with a bum knee and auto immune issues which can make me really stiff, it was actually difficult to climb in and out of. We got to the airport in a matter of minutes as it was a 2.6 mile trip. I almost choked when he quoted me $60. We usually paid about $20-$23 and that was when we lived across town (8 miles) from the airport. The driver indicated that's their minimum charge now. I don't know if we were being hustled or what, but I would never intend to again pay $60 + tip for a 5 minute ride. I don't know if that charge was higher because of the SUV or what. Would not use again at those rates and would suggest if you are booking you confirm the rate. Evergreen had always been about the same as every other service so it didn't cross my mind to confirm a price, especially with us being so close to the airport.
