The shop has three core flavors that are available each day but Monday ( they unfortunately are closed on Mondays) with flavors changing each day so before going check out facebook for the available flavors. They have both dairy and non dairy options but for me my favorite is lemon which is so refreshing on a warm summer day and definitely transported me back to a lovely evening in San Marco's square sitting out and enjoying a cup of Sicilian Lemon Gelato. Not too sweet and just the right combination of tart and sweet. This is a small little store front but they do offer outdoor seating which for me added to the appeal. They also offer samples of the various flavors but I had my mind set on the Sicilian Lemon. Highly recommend if you are looking for "true" italian gelato

Today I opted for the cheesecake flavor, but I've tried several and my go-to is usually the chocolate chip! There is a longer list of hard ice cream flavors, such as white lightening and kaluah almond amoretto, and sundaes that sound delectable. The high-quality desserts, along with the generous portions for great value, make this a spot worth returning to for further exploration.

I'm only sharing this because the note I left myself after eating at Nicky Doodles was: "Utica, bitches." That's right. This is Utica. It's technically New Hartford I guess, but it's as close to Utica as I've ever really gotten. And you know what? I'd come back. Nicky Doodles is basically just a roadside burger stand. It's not fancy, but it hits the spot. I had a burger, my kids had chicken fingers, and we all had fries and ice cream. And all of it tasted good, and it was served up by some nice girls in the window. There's nothing I'd like to change except the fact that one of my kids just seems to use food as a spoon for ketchup. Maybe she'll grow out of it?

I've had their ice cream before and know it's top notch. I chose a maple walnut on a waffle cone and my husband 1 scoop of strawberry and a scoop of coconut almond. Mine was delicious and the cone was crispy and fresh and actually one of the best I've ever had. My only minor complaint is that I had zero walnuts in my ice cream! That could have just been because it was the bottom of the tub??? The flavor of the maple was excellent. My husband loved his flavors but said he liked the strawberry best. They had seating outside.

Their prices are reasonable and the serving sizes generous. The "Creamery" part of their name is exemplified in their soft serve. It is creamy, thick, and doesn't melt right away like other ice creams might. I've tried the soft serve, hard flavors, and their version of a flurry/blizzard/etc. and can recommend all. A cool fact about the Creamery: it was opened by the local Masonic Lodge and their goal is to use profits to give back to the community. Very cool. Not much else to say here. Head to Cazenovia to check out the lake, have dinner at one of the great local restaurants, and finish up with dessert at the Nelson Creamery.
