Holy Moly, I had one of the best vegan doughnuts! I think I must have walked past a couple of these throughout the city, so I finally decided to have a sweet well deserved indulgence. I loved the fact they were sourdough donuts and that they also had a vegan section. And not just one or two vegan flavors, but 6!!! Thank you!! I ordered the vegan blueberry crumble and a chai oat milk latte. The donut had a generous amount of light creamy blueberry flavor filling and the glaze on top was lovely. Not overly sweet. Very quaint shop with 4 seats, definitely designed for to go treats. An eclectic selection of sweets await in the glass case as soon as you walk in. Wonderful variety of very well constructed and presented donuts for your eyes to explore and your stomach to urgently desire. We went with the apple crisp and it was delicious. A pretty solid donut shop with a huge selection, I came in for a some caffeine and to try a donut. The donut itself is so light and fluffy, not overly fried the way American ones can be. The icing on my matcha one was quite nice though at times, flaked off in whole pieces so perhaps it was a little bit older. The dirty chai was tasty but the flavor was not mixed consistently. Okay, so this is the oldest donut shop in Ireland birthed by the original guy; however, this is not his original donut shop location. The actual location is on Lower O'Connell street and they offer only three flavors/kinds. This place has many different flavors of donuts and deals primarily in traditional Irish donuts or a version of such. What's a traditional Irish donut? It's a yeasty donut that is made with sourdough and filled with some sort of jam or cream. The donut has a more dense less airy quality than an American donut but it isn't too heavy on the stomach. The filling is more of a jam consistency than jelly or if cream-filled, it's more creamy and light than thick. We enjoyed traditional Irish sourdough red velvet, raspberry, and blueberry donuts, each being better than the last. My overall favorite, however, was the raspberry. My son is not down with the filled donuts so he enjoyed a non-filled, unicorn themed donut. Overall, out of the three donut places we've tried in Dublin this is our favorite. It's perfect for a dessert or just a quick, anytime of the day treat. No matter your taste in donut, they can accommodate. Enjoy! read more

Came here as a mate said he wanted donuts, was not left disappointed! I ordered an apple donut for about €3.50. For a gourmet donut this price was very reasonable. But when I bit into it, I found a lovely surprise. The filling was actually spiced apple chunks, which tasted delicious. At his donut was probably filled to the brim with this custard and it was delicious, definitely well crafted and worth more than every penny. The service was quick and polite to me, my mates, and the other patrons. Quick and reliable service that made the experience even better. The ambiance of the restaurant was so great, even though there was little place to sit. Def a "to-go" establishment, but very clean and provided a lovely atmosphere! read more

Walked past The Rolling Donut and KNEW I had to stop to grab a sweet treat! I stopped by midafternoon and they still had quite a few donut options available. They said they are normally open till 9pm or when they sell out. They had a lot of fun choices in regular donuts and vegan donuts! I asked a worker which she recommended and she said the Kinder Deluxe (milk chocolate & white chocolate) were their best sellers; sold! The donut has a sourdough base with hazelnut cream filling and chocolate on top. I ate my donut the next morning and it was still soft! I consider myself a donut connoisseur. My wife and I search out unique donut shops when we travel. While the donuts look very appealing, the taste left me with a lot to desire. We shared a blueberry cheesecake donut. I was expecting a strong blueberry flavor along with a cheesecake filling. The blueberry flavor was almost non existent. The filling was more like a greasy buttercream. The only "flavor" profile was pure sweetness. Nothing very dimensional about the taste. Maybe I chose the wrong flavor. Their prices were really good compared to other donut shops not only in Ireland but in the US and they had SO MANY FLAVORS. It was honestly very difficult to decide. My husband, being the plain Jane he is, got a glazed, and I opted for the Apple. It was very good and when they fill those donuts, they are very much filled. So many flavors it was overwhelming. This spot is conveniently close to Stephen's Green park so we popped in right after walking around Grafton Street. They have a great deal coffee and doughnut for 5 euro. I ended up getting the red velvet doughnut with a cream cheese filling, apparently their most popular one. My husband got the pistachio one and that was delicious as well! Its a small place with only about 6 spots to sit. Mostly a grab and go spot but there weren't a lot of people that we were able to enjoy our doughnut inside the shop. The doughnuts are overly sweet so that was great because I'm not a huge fan of overly sweet stuff! Highly recommend for those that need a break and want a little sugar kick! read more

The chocolate on top was hard and didn't go that well together. My sister got the lemon poppyseed one and it tasted delicious! YUM! When traveling, I'm apt to try any place that serves vegan donuts, so clearly Rolling Donut was a once. They have several options to choose from, and unlike many other donut places I've been to, tend to still have vegan options well into the evening. Since it was such an easy breakfast option, my partner and I got donuts here almost daily. My favorite were probably the jelly-filled (just like I remember having as a kid) and the pistachio. However, I don't think you could really go wrong with any flavor. Also, must say the staff here was incredibly friendly. By the time we were getting close to the end of our trip, the staff had become familiar with our daily visit and typical order, and made us feel very welcome. That means a lot, especially as strangers to Dublin as a whole. read more

Jelly filled donuts is life for me and here they have one of the top 5 I've ever had. The rest of their donuts looked and smell awesome but I only had room for the jelly. They have a good special, 5 euro for a donut and medium café Americano. Perfect snack to stop and keep going. So many great reviews, but I don't see it. Nor taste it.... got the red velvet and the cream inside was pretty much made with margarine, it had a greasy texture. It was not the typical American red velvet cream cheese. The ganache was decent. And the yeast raised donuts were not fluffy enough. It also had a strange artificial berry flavor. Not sure if I'd be back to try another flavor.... we'll see at a different location. read more

This is my first donut out of America and I must say I am impressed! The staff at this location were very friendly and helpful. They have a donut and iced latte deal for €5 which can't be beat! Writing this as I sit in the little shop in an early Sunday morning because I'm eating the best donut of my life. Ran past here this morning and haven't stopped thinking about it, so has to come back and try. The donut is a hearty sourdough base, and isn't greasy in the slightest bit. It actually tastes more baked than fried, but in a very airy-yet-sense sort of way. The glaze is perfect - sweet and thick - and the filling of the apple one I choose was fresh and tasted like the inside of a homemade pie. The others look incredible - and if I had a larger stomach I'd try them all. Also had a coffee, which was lovely & smooth, in case you're up for more than a sweet treat. In terms of "ambience" like some of the other reviews have stated - it's a donut shop. There's not a lot of seating room, but it's not meant to be a cafe. The donuts are served on a cute hotdog-at-a-fair type tray so you can eat them on the go, so you don't have to sit here. If you happen to, though, be here early on a Sunday morning, it's a very lovely place to sit and relax. The interior is beautiful, their neon sign very fun, and there's even a bathroom. The music is also very "European cafe" and I loved it. Customer service was fine, as well. The gentleman behind the bar was sweet and patient, and tended to each persons order entirely before moving on, which I appreciated greatly. Better than Aungier Danger but not by heaps. I eat a doughnut almost every day and I will say I prefer the pastry kind as opposed to cakey. These have a sourdough quality to them and are very dense. They're beautiful and I loved the one with raspberry jam and freeze dried crushed raspberries, but the others, like the Raspberry Ripple were not what I expected. A lot of them use a really solid icing (like melted chocolate) that's not pleasant and breaks off in flakes. I don't prefer to get my coffee here. read more

When I mentioned that fact, staff smiled blankly, so out we went and we won't return. A little pricey but oh so worth it. I have only found one other place that has vegan doughnuts and that was in LA. I had the vegan chocolate coconut doughnut one day (decent) and the vegan lemon poppyseed doughnut the next day which was sooo good. It wasn't crazy strong so I didn't get overwhelmed by sweetness. Such a great bonus on my trip. And for any fellow vegans out there they have 6+ flavors a day! And they're actually fluffy! read more
