Not sure where to begin here. I was hungry and the people I was with chose this place. It is a family owned very small restaurant . The floors when I walk in are filthy. Their menu was out way out of date. They said when I got there I should of ordered online. I guess a new customer is a little out luck.There is a lot of clutter in the customer area. Service was extremely slow. It was friendly and professional.. they have no restrooms that I could see. .now the menu had a lot to offer not sure if the had ever thing listed. My order was hot and has much negative that was about this place. My sub itself was very good.So with that being said if you can get around on the small negative stuff . This place i would recommend on food quality. But if I get here again. I will order the same thing.LOL read more

Verdict: Now under new-old management. Or is it, old-new management? Whatever. The former owner is back. These are some of the largest slices I've ever eaten. Is it the best pizza ever? No. Is it half decent? Yes. Will you go hungry? Not likely. Is it cheap? That's an affirmative. They have a two slice special. I think it's on Tuesdays for lunch. Even if it's not the special, you're getting a good amount of pizza for your money here. They have a lot more on the menu. First time here, looking to follow up on several local friends enthusiastic endorsements of the tuna subs. Chose the lunch special--1/2 sub, Italian Wedding Soup and a soda--a very reasonable $5.75. Bread was good and very fresh with flavorful tuna. Soup came in a large mug and was very tasty. Service was prompt. Can't wait to come back and try other enticing things on the large menu--various pizzas including stuffed, white and Sicilian, ten or so variations on cheese steaks, pepperoni bread, etc. prices are very reasonable, with half cold subs only $3.50 and half hot subs $3.75. This review is for Roma Pizza Place at 282 Second Street, Highspire. The title of this place on YELP is incorrect. It's a shame this place is living under some of the older reviews on Yelp of the old management. Keep that in mind. Look at the date of the review. I thought I would try this place again since the management changed. It was not good under previous management. Unfortunately, they are still not ready for prime time yet, in my opinion. I regularly visit and re-visit local pizza shops in South Central PA looking for the best place for my tastes, realizing that others may have a different taste in mind. I am a fan of the old time NY/ NJ Italian style pizza joints, so that is where I lean. Good luck finding a pizza shop run by Italians around here anymore, though that does not mean the pizza can't be duplicated. First the good of ROMA pizza. I ordered a large plain pizza only (my usual fare). The price was average. The employees were enthusiastic and nice. All seemed to be from the same family and young. The pizza looked great and the crust was very good. There was no problem ordering or receiving the pie. I do sense potential in this place and hope it succeeds. Well, that was the positive and that's it. On to the negative. When I first walked into the shop my first impressing was, "is this still under construction?" It looked like the previous owners left it in a mess and it has yet to fully be recovered. I was not 100 percent sure the place would even pass inspection, but surely it did? It was dark and the kitchen was tiny and crowded. I don't think I would have sat there to eat in as it seemed somehow crammed, dark and not in the best shape. It needs brightened up with better colors and lighting with maybe some Italian artwork on the walls or other decorations making it look more like home. The pizza itself had a strange taste. I can only describe it as "buttery." Maybe some will like that taste but to me it did not fit traditional mom and pop shop pizza. I don't know of course if actual butter is placed on the pizza but that is what the taste reminded me of. It could be the taste inherent in the cheese they are using. In any case it is not your traditional pizza taste you may be expecting. I have tasted worse and I have tasted better in other shops close to this one. I may give it another try later. I do not know how good the sandwiches or other products are so I gave it a 3 stars for now. read more

Although the building may not look like much they have absolutely delicious Stromboli and salads. The price to serving size is great as well! As for decor, don't expect much as this is your typical pizza shop with a few booth tables and a tv or two. These guys are obvious NY/NJ implants and their service shows it. Their pizza is not bad, but the way they treat their customers makes this a 2nd or 3rd option for pizza even though I could wear my pajamas there and back and no one would notice, it's so close to my home. The pizza is NY style, thin crust with thin sauce lots of stringy cheese and they pile on the toppings. The cheese and toppings usually end up sliding off the crust so this is a good pizza slice to eat like a sandwhich. I would love their pizza if it wasn't for the extraordinary amount of grease that comes with it. I know pizza is supposed to be greasy but there can be an overkill. The pizza guys are unpleasant and have been rude. I stood just inside the doorway speaking with my dad deciding on what to order and the guy at the counter yells at us in broken english to get out of the door and move in. We left. Another time the counter guy charges me the regular price for a large pizza even though i had given him a coupon. I had to argue with him that I did indeed give a coupon to him upon ordering. Ridiculous stuff like this are a reoccuring thing. They do accept competitors coupons which is good because Al's across 230 always gives out coupons and their pizza blows. The restaurant also is not the cleaniest looking place which as you know from my previous reviews, always makes me a little hesitant to patronize a business. I have to agree with the other reviewer. This guy is outwardly rude to people, he was so rude to me I didn't even bother getting food. The place is also a dump. Some pizza shops aren't exactly palaces but that doesn't mean they can't turn out decent food. I had ordered from Roma's every Friday evening for the past year. They are now under new management and have gone downhill fast. I placed an order for delivery and a woman from Roma's called me back to tell me that the driver had written down that there was an "issue" with delivering to my address and he refused to deliver. I have never had an issue with any driver and always tipped generously. I called back after telling the woman to cancel the order to find out what the "issue" was and she had no idea but told me she could deliver it after she made 15 pizzas so it would be awhile. I told her she just lost a customer. Ridiculous. Stay away from this place. Their food is not worth the aggravation they put you through. read more
