So disappointing! Been here In the past and it was great! This is the WORST place ever now. I brought people from out if town bc I thought this place was cool! First off the card machine down, so when we eventually got drinks and was trying to take pics of the view the bouncers were yelling at us to leave.... so don't serve drinks ar 155 then...the so called staff were rude and yelling.!! I've NEVER been someplace where the staff is so rude! This would have been cool if it was opened... We searched for an hour looking for this place because we really wanted to end our night watching the sunset overlooking the city. This bar is on the 10th floor of the parking garage. There are stairs which go up to the bar area where you can look over Texas Tech and the city. Parking is "free" only because the gate stays open and the bar is closed. The sign says it's opened from W-Sat 4pm-2am. Definitely not opened today. Maybe out of business? read more

This is the worst place to go. Drinks are expensive, bar tenders will make your drink weak and overcharge. Paying cover is ridiculous especially when your 21 or over!!! I gave the roof another try and it was worse than the first time. I try going to the restroom and since the doors are open I couldn't see which one it was and walked in saw it was the wrong one and walked out right away to the other one and the guy working there came to me with a lantern and say hey next time you're out with an attitude ( I don't want to see a man penis I have my own man) Then my boyfriend and his friend went to the bar, his friend asked for two drinks and was charged $10 and my boyfriend asked for the same two drinks and was charged $15??? This place is trash. The fact that they charge a cover is insane. Seriously? It's Lubbock. It's windy as hell most of the time and the crowd this place draws in is flat out gross. Broadway Bars (which are pretty grimy) are like the Ritz compared to this place. Also, the music sucks. I wish The Roof did a better job because they have a great opportunity, but they just don't. The bathrooms are always dirty or broken. I've been groped and bumped into. Service is almost impossible to get, and when I have bought drinks, I've been overcharged twice, one I paid in cash AND they charged my card. The Roof, unlike it's name suggests, is the basement of bar life in Lubbock. I arrived with a couple of buddies around 11:30pm and immediately we are charged with a $5 cover -- I thought only good bars charged cover... Anyway that was fine, what's $5 to a G? The real issue began when I waited in line at the bar... 45 minutes... 45 minutes is the average wait time for overpriced alcohol including the "Sex in The Butt" shot or any other magnificently underwhelming coctail. Needless to say, it was the next day (12:20am) before I got my first drink. Have you ever seen the episode of Spongebob where he's trying to gain entrance to the Salty Spitoon? He was neither tough enough nor did he know enough of the staff. That's what it was like ordering a drink from The Roof. Many times I was waiting, elbow firmly cemented into the bar, only to be surpassed by another strange friend of the bartenders who had preferential treatment. Anyway, at the end of the episode, Spongebob learns that he can have a better time at Weenie Hot Juniors with his friends -- I wish I had remembered that lesson and left sooner. Save yourself money and pride and go literally anywhere else. Was at the Roof last Friday night after a wedding in Lubbock. A group of around 20-30 of us from the wedding decided we would go to this bar afterwards. Upon coordinating cabs and rides over there and waiting in line the owner noticed 1-2 people in our group were pretty drunk. We had just come from a wedding, and I will admit they were beyond a few drinks in and visibly drunk and understand the owner/manager not sure who it was- his concern. HOWEVER, instead of denying entrance to the clearly intoxicated guy- He decided to deny ALL of us from the wedding. Said something to the effect if you're in a dress/suit from the wedding you're not coming in. All because of 1 guy being too drunk to get it. I understand his concern and liability factors, however the way he handled it was terrible. DENYING 20+ patrons for 1-2 being too drunk? The rest of us were 100% standing in line quietly talking amongst ourselves and doing NOTHING to get the boot. Nobody in our party was making a scene/ loud/ obnoxious or anything. We were escorted out as an entire group by a CONSTABLE at the request of the manager/ owner. This was a huge let down to our night, as a small group of our friends had already gotten into the bar (because our whole group wasnt belligerent) and we then had to try and coordinate a new rally point/ cabs/ phone calls to each person in the group and what not. Kick out/ dont admit the drunk 2 people that are visibly too intoxicated. No Big Deal. We all understand that. Deny 20+ people on the merits that "you were at a wedding youre not coming in. " "anyone dressed for the wedding head back downstairs you cant come in here with a dress or suit" is INSULTING and wrong. I will NEVER go back to this business, and highly doubt anyone in my group that night will as well. Treated poorly and escorted out by an LEO for being dressed nice. read more

Although it is the closest thing to city nightlife in Lubbock, it can be hit or miss. A couple of the times that I've gone, staff was friendly and served quickly. But other times...it was horrible. This bar really needs to make sure that they have enough people to serve its customers. And they need to make sure they aren't drinking while on the job. I feel like the longer they have been open, the worse it gets. read more

Usually don't mind paying a cover but they didn't have diet mixers of any kind. Our friend is diabetic and likes to have diabetic friendly drinks when we go out! It was also not the cleanest place. Nice view though. read more

The concept of this bar and the layout were nice. The staff--not so much. Two bartenders tried closing my tab at once after being slightly rude to me all night (probably due to the fact that I was wearing a Texas A&M shirt in Lubbock). Which normally would be fine, except when they put the two receipts down, they were for two different amounts. Strike one. Fast forward a week and while going over my statement, the charge from there shows that they had added 20 more dollars to my tip, after I had already given them a pretty decent tip considering being ignored or treated like a leper most of the night. Strike two. All in all it has the potential to be an AWESOME bar, if they could get some sort of better system behind the bar going. Just use cash instead of a card in my opinion. read more

The staff was extremely rude to me here. I've heard from friends that one of the male bartenders is usually pretty rude and aggressive, so I shouldn't have been surprised when I was treated disrespectfully by the same guy. Wish the customer service was better because I felt uncomfortable getting drinks from the bar for the rest of the night. read more
