While in Calgary we went to the Rooftop yyc. This place is a must to have reservations on weekends. I took a chance and did a walk in for three of us. I can say it was a blast. It is on the top floor of the building with glass rooftop. The girders were all covered in garland and lights. Made it look very nice. They had a dj and the music was great and not too loud so you could speak instead of shouting. There were about 5 bachelorette parties going on. It felt like a great party. We were seated in front of one of 2 bars. Their signature drink is the martini tree. It comes with 4 or 8 martinis of your choice. I had the curried butter chicken which was delicious. My partner had a chicken salad which was great. This is a great place if you are in downtown Calgary.

First off, this place is tricky to find. Once you enter the building, go up the escalator and the stairs to get there are on the opposite side (like exit the escalator and do a 180 and the stairs are kind of on the left side. Then you go up and it takes you to the actual entrance. We even stopped to ask another employee in the building and they didn't know where it was. The vibe is cute, it's very open with pretty plants and flowers. I came with one other person around 4:30pm on a Friday and we were seated immediately though we were told we had to be done by 7:30 because there was a reservation. Not a problem at all, that was plenty of time to eat. I tried the no-jito (mocktail, pretty good), warm cheese bun (delicious), crispy spicy tuna (extra delicious), margherita pizza (very good, amazing crust) and had most of the pizza as leftovers. We ordered and got the food quickly, but we didn't get more water when we asked and getting the check was slow. Our server was very busy though so understandable. Overall the experience was great, prices were good, and I'd definitely come again.

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter Rob was amazing. Margaritas are so good. Make sure you try the Mexi-Corn dip!

I was surprised to see that this place had such bad reviews. Granted I went on the 29th of December, a time when it wasn't nearly as busy as other times I'm sure. We had very good service and food. The waitress was attentive and nice. We had the funguy pizza which was very good. The place was also beautifully decorated for Christmas! The only thing that wasn't great was their Moscow mule, and the drinks are a big pricey (but it's around the range of what you can expect for downtown Calgary). But based on my experience I would recommend!

The watermelon mint drink tastes like cough syrup and the flooring just looks awful / out of order.

For the owner, I can't say the same He has asked me "so, how can we can we improve at Betty Lou's". No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter. The owner seems to weaponize feedback, which is completely toxic. Sure, you're the owner, absolute respect to you for making this fair in this industry, it's accomplishment. However、please do not ask serving or bartending staff if you don't want genuine feedback. The owner will act against you. We requested one time that Blaine (the owner) does not come on floor if he's had more than two drinks and if he's not dressed in proper uniform. As an owner, sure, to some extent that's fine. But when you threaten a server, who is still new, you will fire them based off how long you're doing menu tours is not acceptable. If you didn't know, menu tours are just running through the drinks and food, which can take a considerable amount of time when you are busy. Now imagine the owner is so disconnected from the reality of the service, is also five drinks deep in the office. The owner will award you back off a few good days, but if you have one review where a customer believes you didn't believe you delivered "a personable experience" you're done. Now, that seems rough, but imagine an owner who values complete bullshit over actual truth. But I mean hey, would I work an environment where the owner can flip a switch, absolutely. It doesn't matter So hey, if you get hired at Betty Lou's, got bless you You can have a good few days, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. There is no HR, no general manger, you know why? They've left, to better and more complete opportunities that Betty Lou's cannot offer. If you're looking for any place to work, please, reconsider Betty Lou's. My boyfriend and I attended when they were having their burlesque show and it was so much fun! I wasn't sure what to expect but the dancers and the music definitely kept us entertained. The food and the drinks were amazing as well as their service. I'll certainly return!
