OMG...How is this supposed to be BEST BREAKFAST IN FISHER. What a lie...I picked this place on Yelp from reviews. How mislead were we, the ham was like lunch meat ham, the omelet was suppose to be ham and cheese and we split it...no cheese in middle of it, tasted like fake eggs and my half had Swiss or something else on top and my dad's was a yellow cheese .. really. Also, my son's eggs scrambled were like eating rubber eggs. Biscuits n gravy sucked...the best thing was toast and wait service. So disappointed and if I wasn't in a rush I would of complained big time. Should of went to IHOP it would of been gone better...hell I think Jail food would of been better. Do yourself a favor and burn that sign u have posted up. read more

It's a good small mom and pop breakfast place. It gets packed with long lines waiting outside. If you're all by yourself or with another adult, save some time and hopefully there's a bar chair available. They serve standard breakfast fare at a pretty reasonable price. This is my favorite type of breakfast place. No-frills, quick service, consistently delicious food and hot coffee. I don't need to be wowed with complicated dishes at breakfast time. I just want something yummy in my tummy. I ordered a two-egg omelette (love that they give you the option of a two-egg instead of just the gigantic four-egg). Got cinnamon toast and fresh fruit with it. The cinnamon toast... heavenly. Sorry to throw in another restaurant, but this cinnamon toast is better than Patachou's. And the fresh fruit! It was a generous sized cup and it had blackberries and pineapple (!!!) along with the standard strawberries, cantaloupe and honeydew melon. And, there's no upcharge for this said quality fruit. Wow! I read the reviews and went to check this place out with high hopes. The only hope I have after this meal is that the previous reviewers find something wonderful in their life called SEASONINGS and a palate. Are you kidding!!!! My wife order the weekend breakfast platter and if you don't believe the review I'm about to write, see the pictures! The weekend platter consisted of processed bagged hash browns with no seasoning. That I can understand because you can't season for everyone, especially when it comes to salt. They get a pass on the potatoes. However, the ham were slices of poor quality lunch meat, eggs were not scrambled as requested but cooked liked an omelette without any filler. The biscuit and gravy was floury tasting with no seasoning at all. I saw sausage in the gravy but still no flavor. The gravy tasted like a bag of instant gravy. Lastly, my wife didn't get the biscuit should ordered instead of toast until the last minute....wait for it.......server finally brought out a microwaved biscuit that was rubbery - just awful. I had the quiche. It looked great with nice portion but was very dry. I'm not sure why the place was packed. Thus, I have to say give it a try for yourself. I can't stereotype the entire town of Fishers as having bad taste, but it was amazing bland, poorly presented and lacked the detail a restaurant should put into delivering food. Wow, wow, wow. If I didn't care about my wallet or my waistline, I would come here every morning. The service was great in that they made sure our needs were met but didn't bother us too much. It helped that they put a coffee craft on the table so we could refill at our own choosing so as not to mess up the perfect balance of coffee and creamer in my mug. Although it didn't state it on the menu, the omelets were available in half sizes which our server told us about and made for a perfectly sized portion for one. All three of us who ordered omelets were completely impressed. My husband ordered the goose (three cheers for using local meat) and loved it. I ordered something California that had avocado in it and ohmygosh, YUM! They weren't shy about the avocado which I know isn't cheap and really impressed me. Their toast was thickly sliced. I had the corn casserole for my side and it was down home comfort food. I have no idea why it took me so long to finally try this place but it will become a regular stop for me. read more

This is my go to restaurant place here in Fishers. It is right down the street from my house, cheap, and some of the best breakfast around. That being said, even though I've eaten here several times, I get the same thing always. The biscuits and gravy are out of this world. The biscuits are sooooo moist and soft and the gravy is homemade creamy, rich goodness. I also enjoy their homemade corned beef hash. It is soooo deliciously flavored with huge chunks of corned beef throughout. Now for the bad. I am an egg Benedict junkie and I'm not too fond of theirs here. I would skip it. Alas, I'm compelled to diverge from the otherwise positive ratings here... We made our first trip to The Roost yesterday morning. After seeing a number of Smoking Goose meats on the menu, we had very high hopes. Melissa ordered the Breakfast Burrito, which was fairly good. I ordered the Jose Salsa Skillet, which was decidedly NOT good; actually, it was so disgusting I couldn't even eat it. First, it came out with completely solid-yolk poached eggs. No big deal. The waitress was very nice when I mentioned it, and she took the dish back promptly to correct the mistake. When the second take came to the table the eggs were nicely poached, but unfortunately there was also a ring of grease about a quarter inch thick and wide all the way around the edges of the skillet. Despite being unnerved by the glaring grease ring, I took my first bite from the middle with hopes that it would be okay as long as I steered clear of the edge. Wrong. If there was a lot of grease on the top perimeter of the dish, there was waaaay more soaking into the hash brown base. I had to stop there. I feel very remiss for not taking a photo, which would have told this 2-star story much more quickly and clearly than I have. This was a waste of $25; we won't be back. read more

Good breakfast food in a popular local 'dive' establishment. I went on a Sunday morning and it was crowded... my party waited for about 25 minutes, but it's worth the wait. Breakfast food is nothing really special but it's done right and the staff is nice. Wide range of customers, from high schoolers to families to senior citizens. The ambience is more 1950s diner than 21st century eatery, it fits. Don't go out of your way to find an IHOP or a Denny's (both far away), just stay local and eat here. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The interior is very boring, just a bunch of booths with no decor to speak of. Very small and uninspiring menu that is out of date. Nothing but fatty traditional breakfast items with subpar ingredients and subpar presentation. I had the fruit plate which consisted of some grapes, some melon, and an english muffin for $7. My friends had omlettes and breakfast burritos, which were okay but nothing special. My family and I love this place and its become a tradition for my kids and I to have breakfast here Saturday mornings. The staff is always wonderful and service is on point. Is the food always perfect? No, but the amount of volume those kitchen guys and servers have to deal with is enormous! Always a small wait on the weekends so plan accordingly. I'm done with this place. The service is horrible. A few months ago I went to eat here and sat at the bar. The waitress ignored me for several minutes. I ordered a cup of coffee from one of the other waiters behind the bar and waited and waited. Then a couple came in and sat down after me and the waitress that was Ignoring me took their order right away. I waited a few more minutes for a cup of coffee that never came and the waitress continued to ignore me. So I got up and left. I decided to give them another chance today and that was a mistake. Is place does a lot of things right. Free coffee while you wait. A community bar/table if you are by yourself or with one other and some of the best homemade breakfast in the city. My wife and I moved to Indy about a year ago and found this place via Yelp, it has become one of our go to spots for breakfast. They rearranged the entry for (presumably) more seating. We had a seat very close to the door and it was rather cold - not the end of the world. Ordered the spinach melt with fries, daughter went with a cheeseburger and fries. Melt was very good - larger in size, served on nice bread with tomato. Fries were hot and fresh and what I would describe as "Shoestring boardwalk style". Not a fan. Too little potato and too much grease. Sort of like the basket filler you get at a Long John Silver's. Daughter liked them though - she had half of mine. Noticed that the Roost was listed as a place to visit (!) from a customer who was in town on business. On a recent Sunday, decided to try this place out but I wasn't overly impressed by the whole experience. Hostess: Quoted us a wait time of 20 min but our wait was less than 10. Did she make a honest mistake in her estimate or do they intentionally inflate wait times to discourage people from waiting? Had the sausage skillet. While it was a filling meal, there was nothing to excite me. It felt like a regular entree that you could get at any breakfast joint. This is a solid choice for breakfast. They have the standard choices but also some usual choices like the Hoosier Benedict - which is a thin breaded yummy pork tenderloin on a biscuit with a poached egg and sausage gravy. It's a little dark inside but thanks to Covid they have some outside seating now too. I hope they keep it and add some plants/flowers or something to make it more cozy. The food here is really average. I had the weekender and my fiancé ordered the eggs benedict . The weekender allows you to pick whether or not you want ham, sausage, or bacon and the type of bread. I chose ham and white bread. The eggs were weird.. they were like sheets of egg.. which kind of grossed me out. It was bland as you would expect from unseasoned eggs. Everything else was alright. I did get biscuits and gravy with my order and I did like the gravy. The biscuits looked gross though so I didn't really eat it. My fiancé's egg Benedict had a very strange taste. Once you are seated the service is great and attentive. The omelet had great flavor and was a good sized portion. My boyfriend had the French toast and described it as "melt in your mouth good". They have several tables that can accommodate larger parties (6-8) which was nice to see as well as a bar type counter if you were a small party of 1-2. One of my favorite breakfast places around. The breakfast potatoes are great and their bread is homemade and so tasty. The rye is my favorite. My lunch experience was less positive. The spinach melt (sans bacon) was piled too thickly with a kind of greasy conglomeration of sautéed spinach (which was clearly of the frozen, not fresh variety). My lunch companions enjoyed their meals though, so it may have just been that particular sandwich. It's usually never been a problem to get a table and we generally have parties of either 4 or 6. Just your average breakfast place. The seat cushions needs some padding, you can feel the springs when you sit down. I ordered the daybreak which was a pancake, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham or sausage. My husband had eggs, ham which appeared to be lunch meat to me and not actual a slice of ham, biscuits and gravy. The service was good. We did not have to wait very long to be seated which was a plus. But as you're waiting for your seat you are in the breezeway so you feel the cold if you happen to go during winter time.
