My daughter went into the hospital night before last, for complications with her first pregnancy and will remain there until the baby comes (4-6 weeks). After spending most of the day at St. Vincent we stopped by Chicago's on the way home. As soon as we walked into the door we must have looked emotionally beaten down and Izzy of course asked how we were doing. We briefly explained where we've been all day and she showed genuine compassion. And then proceeded to give us the BEST service I think we have received anywhere! When we were done eating Lydia (I believe the manager) came out and said she was very sorry to hear about our situation, and offered prayers for my daughter. What a very kind thing to do. My wife became emotional and Lydia offered a hug to my wife. Izzy had already left the bill for dinner, but my wife and I hadn't looked at it yet, but when we took it to the register and turned the bill over there was a very kind hand written note, wishing us well and a speedy recovery for our daughter and the arrival of our grandchild and signed by all of the employees. Then they refused to let us pay our bill. I never get choked up or emotional.... I now have to take the never out of that sentence! Who does that!?! God truly puts the right people in your way at just the right time when we really needed some uplifting. It may seem small to some, but to my wife and I it meant the world. Hugs were given all around and we left with an enormous amount of gratitude for strangers who saw someone in need of a kind gesture and didnt let the opportunity slip by.
