The staff here is Stellar! The owner is truly someone you want to avoid. I've had the unfortunate privilege of being approached by her twice. A must try! We stayed at a nearby hotel with plenty of coffee shops, and breakfast spots to walk to, but we chose to drive here to try. So worth it! This place has us wishing we had one in Detroit! Everything we ordered was so tasty. We ordered the Shakshuka, which my husband said was the most authentic one he's ever had, the 9 to 5 sandwich on gluten bread, and the Thai spice waffle. The waffle was the prefect crispness with just the right amount of sweetness from the banana cream under it and the strawberry cream topping. The 9 to 5 sandwich was perfect, 1/2 size, and love that they have gluten free options. The eggs on both egg entrees were cooked to perfection. For drinks we got the orange creamsicle espresso latte. Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. The chai latte and an americano. I loved the Indian spices in the chai latte but my son would have preferred less. They have almond milk, oatmeal and cow milk. That's almost 20% tip, that is what you might give to a restaurant that interacts with you, serves you throughout your dine, cleans your table. You are paying almost 20% gratuity to; get your own water, have sub-par meals, and then clean up your table after. I truly was appalled! The only service they did was make the food and coffee..... which I paid for? If you can't pay your employees, and therefore have to charge every person 18% extra, you've got to change something. read more

So nice I had to get it twice!! I was traveling in SLC and popped in a couple times for a quick brunch. The service was a little slow, but completely understandable given how busy they were! There was still ample seating, and the staff were all very friendly. On two separate days, I ordered the coconut yogurt parfait (GF & vegan) and the Lady Bergamot matcha (once iced and once hot). Coconut yogurt parfait (5/5) - Solid flavor and surprisingly filling. The second time I ordered it, the mint and raspberries kinda looked like they were just tossed on there, compared to the first day when they were so cutely arranged, but the taste was just as good. Lady Bergamot matcha (5/5!!!) - This was soooo peak. The hot version was so cozy during the cold morning, and the iced one was refreshing on a warm afternoon. But just a heads up if you're not a big fan of bergamot, you might want to stick to a regular matcha, since the flavor is pretty strong. read more

More of a weekday coffee shop and a brunch place on weekends. This shop is one of the best places to meet up with people. I've been touring around coffee shops in the valley and would place this one high on a weekend with friends list. As far a place to work from, it's good but doesn't offer wifi, so better for a book or offline project. The shop itself is a reclaimed building made of brick with a small patio. There is a ton of open seating and it does give an energy of a resturaunt. I didn't get a meal this visit, but I absolutely would. With how well they made my drink and the detail put into making an experience nice, there's no way I could pass it up next time. This little restaurant is the epitome of corner cafe downtown-old brick building, dark and moody ambience and designer dishes. It's been on my list to visit for a while, and I finally made the reservation and went in this weekend. Early on a weekend is the best time to come, I believe, because you'll be able to snag a table and a parking spot easier than later in the day. I enjoyed the pear waffle which was deliciously decadent and beautiful. The flower petals sprinkled on top were a nice touch. My dining partner had a skillet, which I hear was pretty good too. Serving sizes were just right-not over the top but also not lacking in generosity. I would have dropped five stars, but our server awkwardly disappeared toward the end of our meal-leaving us with empty coffee cups and an uncomfortably long wait. They covered the eggs with greens probably hoping we wouldn't notice. I got their Mushroom Avocado Toast, which was much better. I was a bit nervous at first about the cashew mushroom "cream cheese," but the cashier assured me there was no actual cream cheese in it and it didn't actually taste like it. Thankfully, he was right! It added a very pleasant flavor to the overall dish. They also didn't skimp out on the avocado, which is very much appreciated. I would get this again for sure. Their baristas are so nice, the ambiance of the place is so inviting, and I like that they don't offer WiFi but instead encourage customers to connect with each other and off the internet. That being said, a cafe not offering WiFi may need to be advertised at checkout or near the entrance door so customers are aware. I had to answer a couple of work emails but I was able to do so via the hotspot on my phone giving my laptop internet access and then afterwards I promptly disconnected. I ordered the 9-to-5 breakfast sandwich and it was divine! Flavorful, fresh, and filling. I also got a vanilla latte and it was warming and perfect. I look forward to my next visit! You order at the counter, then you take a number and bring it with you to find a seat in the restaurant. If you order drinks, you have to listen for them to call your name when it's ready and pick up your own drink at the counter. Food will be brought to your table. I think you're supposed to put away your dishes after you're done with your meal, but it isn't clear where for a first-time goer. All of this said, there is an automatic service charge (18%, if I recall correctly) added to your bill, AND they ask for more tip on top of that (if you want). I think that's too much, especially when you're serving yourself most of the time but those are the rules of this place. read more

The servers where nice and friendly. The coffee and food was good, some fairly standard dishes and some interesting dishes as well; lots of gluten free options. While the food was good, it wasn't great -- for example; I ordered the breakfast sandwich and I though the biscuit was way too dry. Furthermore; I'm not sure why, but I also found this place to give off a slight air of "pretentiousness" which was a turn-off... I think I'd be more generous with my rating if they came off as more "humble." Perhaps I might revisit this place and give it another shot, but I'd likely first trying out other new places prior to returning. read more

Food - 4 stars My most favorite part of this experience was the "waiting pastries", I had the most incredible cardamom orange croissant while waiting to be seated for brunch. The tea cake slice was good, very strong tea flavor, but it was really overshadowed by its counterpart. The hot drinks were good, very filling. Breakfast was lovely, I really appreciate the portion sizes and the greens available in place of what are usually some version of the poor, overplayed breakfast potato. The cocktails were tasty, and even a bit rustic with some whole spices at the bottom of my seasonal mimosa. This place knows good bread, it's the sort of restaurant that serves high caliber super hard and crusty seeded sourdoughs with big holey crumb structures. 10/10 on food! Service - The service here was good, this place was very busy when we went for the weekend brunch rush and our waiter handled it very well. She was quick and on top of it, the service wasn't overly coddling. The café was hopping, everyone behind the counter was busy and it took our drinks a while to come out, but not because anyone was leaning on the counter. Ambiance - Very cool, very fresh, this is a large space that was something else back in the day and in this day it's a very trendy café and brunch spot for people who love rose flavored drinks and arugula.(Me!) Hardwood floors, high ceilings, ancient windows, cool old antiquey stuff like that. Logistics - This is a very popular place, and rightfully so. So popular it might be worth making reservations for sit-down dining (I don't know if they take them), but if you're just there for the café you don't really have to plan ahead or wait too long. The first time I went I made the (fortunate) mistake of walking in, waiting a long time, and filling up on a latte and pastry, and then picking through a delicious breakfast I didn't have much of an appetite for anymore. Just tried The Rose Establishment on my recent trip to SLC. The ambience is everything a brunch place should offer, deep wood, steel beams, trendy coffee glasses, and plants interspersed throughout the resto. I got a standard breakfast of two eggs, sourdough, avocado, and bacon. Finished it off with a cortado coffee with a little bit of rosemary syrup. The food was really tasty and the service was fast.
