Stopped by this cute coffee shop for an ice coffee before hitting the museum down the way. They are lots of indoor and outdoor seating and you can tell that people love this spot. The ice coffee hit the spot on this hot summer afternoon. Service was good. The only downfall is how they charge you a credit card fee for using your credit card. This is something that they should already factor into their cost of business. We live in a digital world and to be honest, the amount of people carrying cash around nowadays is not that high. read more

My experience at Cupla was so disappointing. I stopped by on Friday afternoon with a couple of friends, and we all disliked our drinks. I got an Ube White Latte. I'm a huge ube fan and generally like white espresso, but I didn't enjoy my drink. Overall, my latte tasted more like a watered-down ube milk. There was virtually no espresso flavor. I know white espresso is milder in flavor, but I really didn't taste anything. I took a sip of my friend's Brown Sugar Fig Latte. It was also so watery. I was looking forward to finally trying Cupla after hearing great things from friends, but sadly it did not live up to my expectations. It is really cute inside with plenty of seating. This little coffee spot was just across the road from the hotel and I'm not one to pass up trying new coffee shops. I did have difficulty finding the door since they apparently had an issue and one glass door was covered by wood and the other had a padlock on it. The padlock door was the one you used but that was not immediately apparent. Regardless I figured it out and got in. It's a nice open and airy space with lots of tables and some seating. There appeared to be only two people working which proved to be an issue. They had a nice selection of breakfast items including donuts, oatmeal, yogurt, and chocolate pastries. The coffee selection was nice and they seemed knowledgeable about the specials. My friend asked about the yogurt and was told it was not Greek yogurt to her delight (spoiler alert it was) and she got that and the latte special. I got the special, OJ and a pastry. They gave me my OJ and we sat down to wait for the coffee and the warmed pastry. We chatted and waited. Her coffee came and then mine but no pastry so I reminded them. They had never taken it out of the microwave! anyway... the pastry was actually amazing. Cherry danish for the win. The coffee drink was so-so. I like mine sweeter and I didn't taste the honey. Swung by after eating breakfast at Baby's Bagels and scored a parking spot right in front. We ordered a cortado (husband said it had a little too much milk) and a Holy Cannoli cold brew (cold brew with vanilla syrup and pistachio cold foam). The place is huge with lots of seats and tables inside. You can even find a collection of board games to play. We thought our coffees were fine and nothing special. Our toddler liked their blueberry donut. We'll try their coffee again another time. read more

We randomly came in here and were very pleasantly surprised. The line was really long to order and took awhile but once we ordered the coffee came up quick. Having lived next to Cupla in the past, and now moving back recently, we were excited to have our favorite neighborhood coffee shop back. In the two years that we'd been away, It seems like they have undergone a management change, as their menu and quality has completely changed. We ordered quad shot white espresso lattes which we had loved the last time we lived here and ordered every week and were very disappointed in the results this go around. Both drinks tasted like watered down milk, not just milk, but like less flavorful milk. To say the least that is not only what I don't want in my latte, but also truly perplexing as to how it occured when you would think the 4oz of white espresso would have boosted the flavor profile considerably. Looking at other recent reviews this seems to be a known issue and I can only hope that Cupla takes these reviews seriously and returns to the quality I know they are capable of. read more

This is a charming, comfortable coffee shop with absolutely beautiful pastries and a better than average breakfast and lunch menu. Lines can get long because the place is popular. The coffee drinks were delicious. The donuts and bagels are fresh. I would have loved to have tried one of their breakfast or lunch creations but those will have to wait until the next time. As far as I can tell, it's street parking only. But this is good coffee and very good food options in an inviting spot. The high reviews are warranted. read more

Every time I've walked past this spot, it's been busy, so I finally stopped in to see what the hype was about. No surprise, it was still busy, but thankfully there's plenty of seating, which makes it a solid place get some work done. I kept it simple with an iced Americano; smooth, strong, and exactly what I needed. The dessert selection wasn't anything to rave about. Overall ambiance is nice; comfortable, lively. In town for a conference, and stopped here for lunch. Had the chicken salad sandwich, which was one of the best I have ever had. They spread the chicken on both pieces of lightly toasted bread, then fill the middle with spring mix lettuce, generously sliced tomatoes, and delicious pickled red onions. Hearty without being heavy! The staff were friendly and helpful; I was trying to choose between items and the counter staff recommended the chicken salad, and I am so glad I asked. Been coming here for about 8 months and definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to sit and chill with food and a large drink menu. Coffee: They have seasonal menus that are usually creative and cater to a variety of flavor profiles. For the most part, the seasonal drinks can be hit or miss: I liked all the ones on their winter menu (especially the sugar cookie latte) but this summer I think all the drinks have been too sweet and the sweeteners/syrups aren't actually mixing in with the coffee (for example the mango matcha and cannoli cold brew there is a layer of sweetener at the bottom that doesn't mix no matter how hard you try). They rotate out their drip coffee and have a lot of different drink options. They have a lot of syrups and support a lot of sugar-free options. Food: I love the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel! Some of the lunch items are kind of poor and I don't think made in house (like the taquitos) but all the breakfast sandwiches are good and the pastries have been great! Pretty sure the donuts they serve are the Banbury Cross Donuts (very good, in the realm of dessert donuts). Ambiance: One of the only coffee shops in downtown SLC with comfortable seats and plenty of room. Plus there are free games you can play and a really beautiful library/gallery style wall. Cleanliness: Usually decent, once I saw a dying cockroach under my table and usually some debris people leave behind on the floor and table - I usually come during busy/peak times so the staff doesn't get a chance to clean the mess right away but I have seen them sweep during the down times. read more

Checked out a lively coffee spot in downtown Salt Lake called Cupla Coffee. I went on a weekday morning and there were about 10 people ahead of me, but the line moved quickly. The staff was very friendly, took their time recommending one of their house-made syrups, and still kept things moving fast. Since I was going to enjoy my breakfast there, they gave me my drink then a number for my food. Another employee brought out my bagel and cream cheese. I enjoyed a "culpa-coffee" from this place! Great coffee but it could have used a bit more caramel and the coffee wasn't very roasted or potent, which I like my coffee with those bitter notes. But the foam design they did was very impressive! I liked that artistic touch. In terms of the service, it wasn't the greatest, I'm guessing they were still training some workers so it's quite reasonable.
