I want to, but I can't support this place. I even gave it another chance because the coffee and spot are so good. The cup leaked. I asked for another one, and that one leaked. The man working was polite and friendly, but the woman working was not. She literally said, "What do you want me to do about it?" No apology, nothing. There's a great window in front, but it's partially blocked with a flag. There's no wifi. The coffee was delicious, though. I saw they were selling Heart beans, so I'm guessing that's what they use. It was close to where I was staying, so I went in again, this time with my own cup. There, seated in the front with a cup of coffee, gifted to him I'm guessing, was a homeless man having a psychotic episode. Yes, there's oppression in the world, and it feels insensitive to write this, but I'd just like a quiet place to sip coffee and look out the window. I don't want to pay a place to have to deal with that. I'm all good with people being real, but if I'm paying for the privilege, I'm a lot less understanding. I like this place. I came here after going to that coffee shop in the alley behind Galivan. I wanted cold brew and the owner said cold brew is not coffee. I told that to the staff at Three Pines and they laughed. And sold me cold brew coffee! I asked for a little vanilla syrup and they actually asked my to try it to see if it was sweet enough. The most basic coffee shop ever. No frozen drinks. 16 oz is the largest they serve. They have 2 flavors, chocolate and vanilla. In the downtown area no one wants to go through the effort of getting to your place to be so limited in selection. I wanted a basic caramel americano. So I got vanilla just to make it worth the walk up the street. The service was fine, wait was minimal, and the drink turned out pretty dang good in spite of the vanilla. Shop was clean and cool as well. I would give it 5 stars if they start blending drinks and widen their flavor selection. Excellent little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. After a bunch of travel, I needed an afternoon pick-me-up and something to eat before a later dinner and Three Pines Coffee did the trick. The vanilla, oat milk latte was expertly crafted and the quality of the beans was evident in each and every sip. A selection of pastries and bagels all looked great and I opted for the everything bagel heated and served with a side of cream cheese. The bagel was top notch with a great crunch on the outside and served so you could pull it apart and dunk it in the cream cheese. A unique approach but it worked! The coffee shop is bright and friendly and a record player with a solid lineup of records was behind the counter which must make for an amazing music vibe within the coffee shop. As an avid daily matcha consumer, I always head straight to Yelp whenever visiting a new city to get my morning fix when I'm traveling without the materials to make my own latte. In most cities, it can be challenging to find a shop that doesn't sell a watered down, overpriced version and even more challenging to find one that makes a decent *hot* matcha latte but I was pretty satisfied with Three Pines' iteration. I ordered mine with whole milk, an extra scoop of matcha (no extra charge) and a pump of vanilla syrup. The drink came out adequately strong, the ideal amount of sweet and relatively well-blended without clumps (bonus points for the barista actually sifting the powder) but did still have some powdery residue towards the end. Really appreciated this warm treat on a chilly autumn morning to help fuel my trek up Ensign Peak! I would recommend stopping by either here and/or Matcha Cafe Kyoto (for a wider selection of fun flavors and also desserts, but not open til 11a) to get your matcha fix in Salt Lake :) read more

We love Three Pine Cones, and many others love it too. We've been in twice so far this year and my husband thinks they make the best cappuccinos. From the times we've been in, the little shop has been hustling and bustling with people and a few baristas. The baristas are friendly and efficient, and it's not overly loud. We've order cappuccinos, matcha lattes, and their spiced chai lattes; all of which are amazing. This last time, we even picked up a veggie hand pie, had it warmed up in their tiny toaster oven, and it was demolished in a mere minute or two. Super tasty. We'll be back again! read more
