Love a good cocktail parlor and grabbed some evening cocktails with an old colleague, per her Yelp bucket list we decided on The Rose Garden! Little background: This cocktail bar is on the bottom floor of what seems to be a office complex in downtown Phoenix. There are many affordable garages near by, but I was actually able to snag one of the many metered street parking options! 2 hour max from 8-5 and 4 hours during evening at $1.25 an hour, not too bad! The Rose Garden is "appointment" only, so make sure to plan accordingly. Though they open at 3, oddly enough their "happy hour" does not start until 4 and runs until 7. They have rotating specials on the happy hour menu. It's nothing crazy, so don't expect huge savings. The inside boasts a very moody, Alice in the wonderland meets garden vibe - Very fun! They have many booths, tables, bar seats and an outdoor patio. I'm sure they can accommodate largish parties, 2-6 seems like the sweet spot. Our server, Shelby was fabulous. She was very sweet, tentative and made sure to help answer any questions or guide us accordingly. She definitely knows her stuff. My friend and I opted for the mushroom tarte and bleu gem salad as our lite bites. The tarte was delicious! Very garlic forward, lots of flavor and pairs perfectly with any cocktail! The salad was also very good, with crispy prosciutto. Though the menu is not huge, they have classic cocktails and then a page of their specialty drinks. We both got a Lyre Harmony, with the lemon zested right at the table. This was both our favorite beverage, with apricot foam. I love some good foam on a cocktail! It was very balanced. My second beverage was The Axe, a elevated version of. Whiskey sour if I had to boil it down. Also very nice, but Lyres Harmony was big winner in my book. My friend has the Turaco and Rabbit Hole as well. Presentation is A plus. Very beautiful drinks and glassware, as well as an atmosphere to match. The reason for four stars is the prices are just a little too steep. Speciality cocktails range from 17-24 dollars. It is a good cocktails, but I have had just as wonderful cocktails at comparable bars and speakeasies that are a bit more affordable. It is worth a visit, but expect to pay accordingly. read more

Very cute small bar. The service was slow and our champagne tower was held up for a photo shoot... obviously the customer doesn't come first. It was pleasant seeing the staff's bags/coats/things piled onto a car against the wall near the bar either. That takes away from the ambiance. The drinks were good. The major issue was parking because they don't validate... even AMC theaters validate parking. read more

The Rose Garden is the perfect spot to catch up with some girlfriends and slowly sip some craft cocktails. The decor is chic and trendy and comfortable. I arrived with some friends on a Saturday evening without a reservation. Since we didn't have a reservation we were seated outside but the table was comfortable and service was still great. If you want inside seating I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance during the weekend. We ordered the Turaco, Take a Stroll, and Harvest Essence. The Turaco was probably one of the best cocktails I've had, exceptionally balanced and fresh but not too sweet. Take a Stroll was also extremely balanced and unique, with great flavors. Harvest Essence was a strong, smoky mezcal punch, and while still tasty, you would definitely need to love mezcal in order to enjoy this one. The drinks at this spot range from $15-25 or so and they also have light food options as well. We sipped on our drinks over the course of an hour or so and had a great time. Service was excellent throughout our time. I would definitely come back to try out more of their offerings! read more

So cute! We stopped in for a drink and appetizer while we waited for a table across the hall at Harumi. The staff was super welcoming and we were seated right away. They did a great job on the decor- the whole place feels like you're in a garden or a fairytale book! We ordered mocktails which were so delicious! The wait for our dinner table was taking much longer than expected so we decided to get a flatbread here. It was SOO good! They do wood fired flatbreads and the flavor is off the charts! The sauce is sweet and really makes every bite! We plan to come back here to enjoy the outdoor patio and try more food on the menu! OH MY GOSH! This place is beyond amazing! When you first walk in the whole bar is is decorated with flowers, framed painting, and there is a large circle or small colored chandelier lights, and at the center is a peacock on a golden perch. I love the aesthetic and vibe of this place. Due to the size of our group we had to sit outside on the patio but they brought over two heater lamps which helped so much! All of their drinks were so colorful, whimsical, and the most important part strong! All of my friends loved their drinks and we had a great time just relaxing and hanging. To finish off the night I got the seasonal dessert which was a chocolate cake. I can't wait to go back! read more

I like hanging out in this downtown garden. The decor is absolutely adorable and chic. Minus the entrance, it's hard to tell you're in a tall office building. I like the variety of seating - indoor/outdoor and bar, high top, or booth/table. Not gonna lie, the bar chairs can be uncomfortable but the cute and comfortable low table chairs make up for it. Have yet to experience poor service. It's definitely on the pricier side for food and bev. The menu is fairly narrow - this is not a place for dinner... this is your pre or post game place for light bites and a cocktail(s). All of the cocktails are floral in design and delivery, but they can make non-house cocktails. They usually have some happy hour specials that are a couple $$ off the price of a house cocktail, cheaper wells and beer/wine. Also usually includes a few $$ off the light bites and posted across socials and their chic website. So far, my favorite - White Snakeroot (simple, strong) and least favorite - Angels Trumpet (too floral of a concoction with gin). Overall disappointing trip. My friend and I drove from Mesa to visit this new downtown Phx location on a Friday for happy hour and it was a bust! I hope to come back for another try soon because although it's a very small space, it's pretty cute inside! We really wanted to love this bar! Hostess came through without the mostess. They had plenty of staff but the bartender was busy pouring drinks for other patrons...Manager waited to greet us until he felt like it. The "beef" Empanadas tasted like baby food smooshed into a tamale-based wrapper and flanked with a green mystery "chimichurri" sauce. We didn't like it at all. In fact we wondered if we got the wrong order! The drinks were good though. We ordered Fleur de Paradis and Flight of the Monarch. They were fine and tasted good. Don't sit at the bar either. We hoped to be near the bartender for some flare action, but ended up having major difficulties getting the barstools to cooperate. They stuck to the floor and made it impossible to move into a comfortable position. read more

Stopped in for drinks before dinner. The cocktails are amazing!!! The ambiance is classy and perfect for a date or celebration. The seats are comfortable and the details throughout the restaurant are right on point. Trey(the mixologist) did an excellent job helping us pick the perfect drinks for each of us. Excellent service through and through. We had 9 people in our party and everyone enjoyed the experience. When I say experience the food was also an excellent experience. This is positively one of my favorite bars in downtown Phoenix. It has amazing aesthetics great vibes for pictures. what I really like is the non alcoholic cocktails to choose from. The appetizers are pretty delicious and it's a great place to take your girls for a night out. My only take away is that the music is too loud I know for those who are looking for more of a club scene may enjoy it but when my girls and I are trying to catch up we can't hear each other and it's frustrating. read more

Such a great new spot in Phoenix. It is beautifully decorated. There is something that catches your eye everywhere you look. Service is great- friendly and fast. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar on a Tuesday at 6- plenty of space available. You can make a reservation on Tock ahead of time. The cocktails are amazing! Very elevated, well-balanced and beautiful to top it off. I could easily get into trouble here. The food was a little disappointing. We ordered the happy hour Caesar salad and it was so salty we could not eat it. They took it off of our bill, which was nice. Stopped by with some girlfriends on a Saturday nite. Staff was really great and the space is adorable with fun lights and beautiful wall paper. The air conditioning isn't working at full speed yet which makes it a bit warm for a Phoenix summer, but they've only been open a short time so I'm sure they'll work it out. I also really appreciate that they offer several non-alcoholic drink options. Sadly, I'm not a fan of the spirited cocktails. They remind me of the ones at 36 below- photo perfect, but just not my style. The amaro blend that comes in their shot was a bit too "menta" for my tastes, but I guess good if you want something herbaceous. Wolfsbane with bourbon, pistachio, china china and mole sounded good and is served over a pretty cube of ice, but I wasn't a fan- too sweet, but worse, the outside of the glass was rolled in something sticky and covered with crushed pistachios. My fingers were a mess each time I picked it up. My girlfriends suffered the same with fingers coated in blue glitter or sticky flowers depending on what they ordered. Immediately as you enter, you cant help but to take in the beautiful decor and the cute flamingo right in the middle. Beautiful Flowers are sprawled all over. The hostess and bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable and gave good drink suggestions. We ordered The Axe + Take a Stroll. We both were satisfied with our drinks 8/10, the bourbon in the axe definitely hits you in the face, not my type of drink, but my husband enjoyed it. I much preferred the sweetness (but not so sweet) & fruityness of the TAS. Glad we got experience this place! We will be back next time we are in town to try the food! read more

Bathroom is down a very long hallway outside the restaurant and you have to grab the code from the hostess stand. Love the decor. We got the flatbread, pork sliders and a couple drinks. My only feedback is that mocktails shouldn't cost as much as cocktails. It seemed a little steeply price for a happy hour and beware the specialty cocktails are not on the HH. We ordered Vodka + Lime Pollinate mi amor- fantastic. Utterly fantastic. Bubbly. Crisp. Just the right amount of sweetness for my liking. Prosciutto wrapped dates- at $12 this was tasty but not worth it for 4 teeny tiny dates. Blue cheese gem salad- this was also pretty bland but the veggies were fresh and the croutons were the highlight of the dish IMO Services was initially lackluster but we ended up getting another bartender for the second half of our experience and he was fantastic. The Rose Garden is an OK place. The cocktails and mocktails are really special, in a good way! The service is super friendly and attentive - for me the best part of this place! While the name implies the style of the decor it definitely borders kitsch. It's far from terrible - just not really a place where most guys/men would want to return too often. We came here on a Friday at around 11:30pm and we were slightly disappointed at how the place was pretty empty and definitely winding down already. We could've ordered any food as we were too late. I would wish more of a Happy Friday vibe. I say DEFINITELY try this place. Unless you find your favorite cocktail, though, it may feel too expensive for what it offers and you hence mostly likely will not be returning anytime soon. read more
