Our visit to this hotel was part of a birthday jubilee celebration and it did not disappoint. I love modern decor and have an weird affinity for straight lines and square objects. The modern industrial design offers every imaginable configuration of such. The lobby is open and airy and the front desk staff were professional but not sugary. The rooms are clean and spacious and the beds comfortable enough. The bathroom configuration is a little odd with a barnyard door that didn't fully close all the way at times. It could be awkward in certain circumstances. The pool access is through the gym and both looked clean. The complimentary pantry was a little hard to find - probably intentional, and was mehh. Parking - You can drop off your fellow travelers and luggage at the front entrance, but it is a limited space which is kind of designed to get you to valet park or at least have to use the door-person or bell-person for assistance. Parking was easy enough. Most days, we opted for on-street parking and just had to remember to move the car. Much better than paying $50/ night for the hotel parking. You couldn't ask for a better location - close to the orange line of the T which runs into Boston and smack in the middle of restaurants, entertainment and retail. And, pickle ball courts are right across the street - what more could you ask for? read more

From the moment I arrived, I noticed a significant difference in the level of hospitality compared to previous stays. The front desk staff was not welcoming, and unfortunately that set the tone for the rest of my visit. The room itself was disappointing. The bed was uncomfortable. The rooms are fairly standard in size, surrounded by other buildings with no meaningful view, and street noise is noticeable throughout the night. There is also a nearby train that woke me much earlier than I had planned after a long day of travel. Because my work meetings changed, I needed to extend my stay by one night. I was told the hotel had no availability, so I decided it made more sense to shorten my reservation and move to another hotel rather than relocate after just two nights. Despite this, the hotel charged me for the second night and refused to waive the cancellation fee. Even after Marriott Bonvoy contacted the property on my behalf, management declined to make an exception. Those small gestures of customer service are what build loyalty, and this was a missed opportunity. As someone who travels for work frequently with scheduling changes, that's a dealbreaker. Also as a longtime Marriott Bonvoy member who is typically Titanium or Ambassador Elite, I pay close attention to elite benefits. This property offers no complimentary elite breakfast and no concierge lounge. For a hotel charging over $300 per night before taxes, plus a $25 destination amenity fee and $58 per night for valet parking, I expected a much higher level of service. I stayed at this hotel several years ago and had a wonderful experience, which is why I returned. Unfortunately, the quality of customer service has declined considerably. My interaction was primarily with Logan at the front desk, who informed me that managers Beth Osborne and Christopher Elysee agreed with the decision not to waive the charge. The location is also something to consider. While technically convenient to Somerville, it is well outside the main Boston attractions. Between expensive parking and Uber costs, staying here can become significantly more expensive than choosing a hotel within walking distance of downtown. Ultimately, my biggest disappointment wasn't the room or the fees--it was the lack of hospitality. Customer service is what keeps guests coming back, and unfortunately this stay convinced me that I won't return. read more

I stayed at The Row for the weekend of my brother's birthday. From the moment I pulled up to the moment I left, I was so impressed with the staff in every department I interacted with. The doorman (I wish I got his name) was so kind and helpful. Julie, who I believe is the event manager or general manager, was so accommodating to my annoying requests to stow away fresh flowers, give me early access to the ballroom where the wedding reception was to be, and allow me to store items after the reception for me to sort out the following day. The catering team and setup crew were also genuine professionals and friendly. They got us whatever we needed (scissors, access to a sink etc..). I don't live very far away but I would love to come back just to enjoy this gorgeous hotel. You really can't beat the location and host of restaurants and outdoor space to enjoy. I stayed here during my cousin's wedding weekend and was so glad I did. This hotel is beautifully designed, clean and the customer service is wonderful. From front desk to restaurant to room service. Everyone was very pleasant but not overbearing. I arrived very early on a red-eye and was beyond exhausted. Despite arriving super early they were super polite about the early check in and got me checked in within a few hours. While I waited for my room, I went shopping in the area for some last minute wedding essentials. Everything was in walking distance included a mid shopping day lunch. By the time I checked back in around noon my room was ready. The rooms are beautifully outfitted with high-end finishes that make it a great home away from home. It's close to Somerville proper, Medford and Cambridge which is where the wedding activities were held which worked out perfectly. It's also close to a pocket park and running trail for your outdoorsy needs. Overall a great hotel. Highly recommend! read more

Ok so this location is really good lots of stuff to do around here. The hotel from images is really cool. Everyone is very nice from the doorman to the front desk. I will also add love that it is pet friendly. All hotels should be. But that is where it stops. The design is dark and probably supposed to be cool but to me it is cheap looking. Rooms are a good size. Shower is tiny. Mattresses suck and I mean suck. Was at a regular Marriott and tribute hotel last week way better. No plugs at the little desk in the room had to use wall plug. I keep going back to the mattress it is so bad. Had a two bed room and even went to the other one. Again great location and everyone nice but not a hotel for me. read more

Hip and modern, with great service and a fun location. Our room was spacious and beautifully furnished, with comfortable beds. Bathroom was immaculate, and I appreciated that the toilet had its own door. Wi-fi was fast and easy to connect to. Front desk service was very friendly and cheerful (not necessarily what one would expect from a hip hotel). There's a nice fitness room with plenty of cardio equipment (and where you can grab bottles of water). There's also a modest "pantry" on the 2nd floor near the conference/banquet rooms (look for the section that says "Hotel Guests Only"), with a Nespresso machine and some candy. Assembly Row is a great place for shopping, dining, and just plain hanging out. There's a T stop very close to the hotel, but it's the Orange Line, so if you want to get to Harvard or MIT via the T, it'll take around 45 minutes, since you have to take the Orange Line inbound, then switch to the Red Line at Downtown Crossing. We ended up Ubering it all the time, which took more like 15-20 minutes. Overall, this was a really enjoyable stay at a much more affordable rate than any hotel near Harvard Square. I spent a night at this hotel in Assembly Row. It has some obvious strengths: Decor is outstanding The outdoor loft spaces are excellent The lobby and bar area have plenty of comfortable seating The hallways look like an art museum - you'll love the stroll to your room And then a few points to grow on: They offer valet parking but it is a small space and valet rarely seemed to be outside looking to help someone - we ended up self parking The service was so-so, the employees rarely acknowledged guests walking by and seemed to be in their own worlds My room was clean and very nice. It happened to be a handicap accessible room, which wasn't a problem, but the only downside was the shower. It has a short shower curtain and water got all over the floor. It also had a straight shower curtain bar and a fairly narrow space inside the shower so the curtain continuously touched me while I was trying to get clean. Why not install a curved shower curtain bar at least? Besides the shower and the lukewarm employee engagement (outside of the woman who checked me in and was very pleasant), everything else was great. read more

The room was super cozy and clean. Great views of the shopping district. It makes you feel like you have a classy apartment in the city. Trader Joe's is nearby if you want affordable snacks and wine. The pool is small and not that deep but very relaxing. If you check in during the day during the holidays, they have little snacks. Highly recommend this place. read more

We had a very pleasant stay. Talk about an incredibly convenient location! Within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and coffee. There's a small event space across the street where people gathered for drinks and some casual pickleball. There's also a riverfront park a short distance away and you can easily catch the T a block over. Inside the hotel, you can find tasteful artwork throughout the hallways and public spaces. Overall interior decor was simply well thought out. On the second floor is the fitness center, pool, small pantry (microwave, coffee maker, water/ice machine), and a small outdoor area with water fountains. The fitness center felt very clean and spacious. There's even a mini fridge stocked with bottled water. Our room was cozy with a bit of a darker interior due to the furniture. It came with two queen beds and a sofa. It's actually a decent amount of space and we were able to easily put a pack & play along with slumber pod in the corner for the little kiddo. Parking was not cheap. Came out to $55/night, not including tip. We didn't bother comparing to alternative options out of convenience; however, we were told there's street parking and a garage around the corner. read more

First impression when entering, was super positive and architecturally stunning, it's color scheme was very soothing. The curved staircase going to the second floor was a huge focal point and the lobby accented with tasteful touches. Attending a special event on the second floor for NORTHEAST INVESTMENTS GROUP gave me ideas for future visits here. The private function room had floor to ceiling glass overlooking the well designed neighborhood of City Lights plus our room had an out door Open Bar on a balcony. The dinning tables were perfectly organized and the surrounding walls with hot Chafing Dishes that were filled each with culinary treats all lined up ending with a dessert table and coffee and hot chocolate bar, The carving station was amazing and the staff could not have been any more attentive. The whole Event here was made very special by this location. Walking around finding a wall that had several vases that had one white long stemmed rose in each one that was an eye catcher! The whole nights experience here was elevated by its location and it's opulence, The perfect spot for an event like this, Glad NORTHEAST INVESTMENT GROUP decided to treat their Investors to an evening of ENTERTAINMENT & EDUCATION! I stay at a good many hotels for work and personal travel. Most of them are Marriot, because they run a good business. Let's start with the positives -- our room was immaculate. TV and AC worked perfectly. Bathroom was very nice. Room was quiet. Areas to improve and they are small. No early morning coffee nor is there coffee in the area before 6:30. Yes there is a Starbucks .3 miles away but still. The handheld shower did not work, period. Parking is NOT available except by valet or off property. The Pantry that one reviewer mentioned was indeed not working properly and it's on the 2nd floor way down the hall way. Odd. The self serve by the lobby had very little of anything. Staff was business like but not friendly. This is unusual for a Marriot property. Will I stay here again yes but this is a solid 4 out of 5 starts. read more

Stayed here for one night during February vacation because it was a relatively new hotel. Our first impression was a good one, but unfortunately it did not last because we had to sleep with no sheets/blankets or pillows- hence the 2.5 star rating that I rounded UP! The moment we stepped in the lobby, you're met with some really interesting architecture, details and designs! The theme of the hotel really carries from the lobby, to the hallways, to the pool, and beyond!I have never seen such a streamlined theme throughout a hotel- but this place definitely pulled it off! You have the beautiful staircase as soon as you walk in, valet and hotel guest check in area to your right. And a bunch of different sitting areas throughout the large and expansive lobby! There is also a bar in the lobby which was pretty inviting as well- however we were traveling with children so we skipped the bar this trip! I I REALLY liked this hotel & The best part about this hotel was their "pantry". The pantry is open to hotel guests 24/7 and every guest has access to the free snacks/coffee/drinks. However when we got there the only thing they really had was apples, oranges, & some small candy's (gross Mary janes) and coffee! But it's a great idea & I think other hotels should offer it! They should definitely stock it with more snacks/juices/etc! Our room was extremely small! For the price we thought it would be a bit larger- but we did get two bathrooms!! One was a half bath and the other was really large with two sinks and an AMAZING instagram worthy bath tub. The kitchenette was really nice and convenient as well. I loved the aesthetic of our room too!! Even the hallways were unique! The gym and pool were amazing & my son really enjoyed swimming. The cabanas were amazing & all hotels should have them- although when we arrived at the pool- some guy was sleeping in one- the entire time which was odd- not sure if he was even a hotel guest- he didn't look like he belonged. So it sounds like it should be at least 4 stars and it would have been if the customer service/hospitality was existent! My friend and her daughter slept in the king sized bed and my son and I slept on the pull out bed- which was not only extremely Uncomfortable but I called 3 times for sheets/blankets/pillows for our "bed" and THEY NEVER CAME!!!! So needless to say we had a very sleepless and uncomfortable night! My friend had given us one of her pillows and there was a random throw that we used as a blanket! This was completely unacceptable & I still cannot believe that I slept the entire night sharing a pillow with a 7 year old because none of the 3 calls I made were important enough?!?! I rarely slept that night- and around 3:30 am debated on calling again, but at that point- I just gave up! Not sure if I would return unfortunately!!! read more

Actually I love the hotel and the area. The area has come a long way since I first stayed there. But this trip there was an issue, admittedly, partly my fault. I had the wrong card saved to my account. Usually at checkin they ask do you want to charge it to the card on the account and tell you the last 4 digits of the card. WELP! That didn't happen and I forgot to change from my personal card to my business card. When I called to have it changed a few days later when I saw the charge on my card, I was told they could not make the change once a person checked out. Never heard that before and it was very disappointing and I wonder if it's true. I've had that happen twice before and both times the hotel was able to make the change. You're in the hospitality industry for goodness sake! Be hospitable! As much as I like it, I don't think I will go back. read more

Looking for a clean hotel? The Row Hotel is the place to book! Honestly, in the mist of COVID this was my first time staying in a hotel and I have to say I felt pretty safe. The room was clean. Staff wore masks. Hotel staff was super friendly. Always greeting and smiling when they see you. The hotel is located near the freeway, walking distance to shopping centers (Trader Joe, CVS, etc.), Caffe Nero, and Lego Land. Free parking in the lot across the street. There is a fridge in the room with two free water bottles. Free wifi. Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body wash is provided. Recycling bin was also provided in the room. Overall, I liked the layout of my room and the hotel decor was on point. Currently you can purchase coffee and breakfast items on certain mornings (Thursday-unday) and the bar is open Friday-Sunday night. Free wifi. Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body wash is provided. Beautiful hotel but missed a lot of basic guest care and expectations. Upon checkin staff seemed too busy to make a personal greeting or look into accommodations. I didn't understand the breakfast wasn't included as check in was brief and not very informative. After being chased down, I had to pay $25 for a pancake that was stuck to the pan and way to chewy, a decent slice of bacon, and a spoon of eggs. The "pantry" beside the room was NOT ready for use. The night of check in I checked it out for a hot tea and figured supplies ran low. The next morning I wanted a coffee and the pantry was even less clean, less stocked and not it was all made out to be. I had to clean it myself and reuse it. Last, the toilet clogged up very easily. I had called guest service from the room only to be told to hold for minutes then a quick apology and shove off to maintenance . Overall, this place looks like it's going to be epic. But the staff could use some customer service upgrades. Very loud lobby as people all collect at the bar so if you're meeting anyone, you might need to bring them up to your room or common areas. read more

RATING: TRASH! Hotels.com wouldn't allow me to write my HONEST experience with the row hotel so i decided to come here and let y'all know! The hotel is HORRIBLE! Don't book with them the management team is far from providing hospitality service. The overnight manager stated that i had my final warning due to noise complaints but never even got other complaints that was my first time hearing that people were complaining about my preteen children. I decided we weren't going to stay the night and picked up our room because we were celebrating my daughters birthday party. I took a video of the room once i was heading out for check-out due to the experience i had with the manager. Two days later they took an extra $400 from my account without authorization! I called the hotel and the reason they took the money was for "cleaning fee" meanwhile the room was clean and housekeeping didnt have to do anything different then a regular cleaning. They stated they had photos of the room i had stayed in and it was a complete mess. Once i mentioned i had a video of the room before me leaving and i mentioned i would take legal action if the photos do not match my video the manager who was on site that it was a mistake and it was a different room and they would be refunding my money with 3-5 business days! Situated in The vibrant and supremely walkable Assembly Row, The Row has become A main stay for our family trips to Boston. there are tons of great shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the Assembly stop on the orange line is one block away, the hotel (and many surrounding shops) are incredibly pet friendly, in the whole place manages an elegant vibe without being uptight. Our energetic toddlers were always treated as valued guests. Every additional requested accommodation was granted immediately and with enthusiasm (everything from extra sheets and a forgotten toothbrush to an extra late check out in order to accommodate one more sightseeing day before leaving) Look no further. read more

I would have given the room 4-5 stars, were it not obvious, upon waking up in the morning and pulling the cover back more, that they had made the bed with a cover someone had peed on at some point, and not just a little bit either. A LOT. How could that have gone unnoticed in making the bed? In all my travels, this is something I have never encountered! As there was even a small stain on a sheet, I have to question whether the bedding was even "turned." It's very unfortunate, as this hotel is in a great location in a pedestrian-friendly, fun area. read more

My friend got a room here as we were celebrating her birthday at Encore. Given it is conveniently located across the street, it is in an ideal position. The lobby was beautifully decorated with a very dark, mysterious and sophisticated ambience. Everything seemed clean as far as I was concerned in terms of the mini lounge area, bathroom, and bedroom. My friend reports the beds were comfortable but she doesn't really know due to her intoxication and pizza for a pillow. Overall, we had a blast and would like to rent another room if planning to go to Encore again. read more

Great hotel in a booming area. Less expensive than the nearby casino hotel and a million times nicer than the chain hotel with the initials LQ, which has deteriorated terribly. We have family nearby so we stay a few times a year. Professional staff, clean comfortable rooms. We have never had an issue with noise or climate control etc. Lovely lobby with a nice bar and a restaurant. Small convenience shop near the front desk. Downsides: parking is $50 a night; it is less expensive for us to leave our car elsewhere and take ride-share back and forth. The breakfast at the restaurant is very pricey (but there are tons of places nearby for food and drink so that isn't a big problem). If you just want to visit the area, check rates on various dates as they can fluctuate quite a bit. Overall I recommend this hotel. read more

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel with a guest who was visiting the Boston area for the first time. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location. The prices are a great deal compared to the $300+ per night that seems to be the norm in downtown Boston. The hotel is a short walk from Assembly station on the Orange Line which is a short 10 minute ride into Boston. Assembly Row itself also has a lot to offer for dining and shopping should you want to stay near the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and come with all the basic amenities. In addition to cable, you can stream Netflix, YouTube, and other apps on the TV. The second floor has an open pantry with free snacks and beverages for guests. Being a dedicated coffee drinker, I particularly enjoyed the espresso machine so I could make my own lattes. All the front desk staff I encountered were very friendly. The gentlemen at the front door were great as well. One of them helped me load my suitcases into my car as I was checking out. One thing in particular that stood out to me was how a manager handled an incident that occurred during our stay. Without getting into much detail, let's just say it could have turned out a lot worse than it did. Even though the situation was not the fault of the hotel, the management were very considerate and accommodating. The manager on duty offered us two compensation options and offered to move us to another room if we wanted. Considering I've had some very poor experiences with hotel management in the past, I was very happy with how this was handled. I would definitely like to stay here again, and that's not something I can say about most hotels I've stayed at. read more

They use your card to hold a "150" dollar incidentals charge to be released back to you in 3 to 5 business days. They took 180 dollars instead and when I called to dispute this (it's not back in my account) now the manager says it can be released up to seven days later. Then later he said up to ten to cover his ass. They also tried to fight with me that the charge was 180 until I sent proof. The manager spluttered some excuses to get me off the phone and "he'd call me with updates" my 180 dollars is not back. It's been a week since I stayed there. So. They have 180 dollars for incidentals. My room was fine. I only okayed 150 so they took 30 from me and won't return any of it. Pretty and convenient hotel but 180 dollars for incidentals? Holding almost 200 dollars from someone just until whenever? Don't stay here. read more

During my recent trip back East I had to stay at 4 hotels. This was amongst the better ones. Parking is a bit of an inconvenience with no valet as the parking lot is next to the hotel past light. You can either park in front of the hotel to unload luggages if you have many large ones or. Walk your small luggage from garage to hotel. The hotel itself is nice, new, and clean. The bed is very comfortable as it's a new hotel. The room isn't the very large but not as crampy as the downtown Boston hotels. We had a nice stay at this hotel and I would definitely come back here when I visit again. read more

Unfortunately we did not realize this until after 10pm at night and were already unpacked so asking for another room or going to the front desk just didn't seem worth it. When checking out the next morning I was asked about my stay and I mentioned there was a water pressure issue. The front desk person muttered that she'd have the maintenance team look into it, but there was no genuine concern or apology. Poor customer service. read more

My recent stay at The Row Hotel at Assembly Row was not the best to say the least. When i made my reservation, i requested a top floor room. When i checked in on 2/1/2020, i was placed on the 3rd floor, no biggie because the hotel was really nice so i didn't mind. Once i get to me room, i notice it's right off the elevator. ( very noisy ) but i don't complain because again, not a big deal. Everything is going well up until about 8:30pm. There was some sort of function at the hotel on the second floor, right below my room. Very loud band music and it was just a real distraction as i came to this hotel to relax for my birthday. I call down to the front desk and ask about the loud music. I was told the event should be over by 11:30pm. I say, "so are you saying i should just deal with it, and wait it out? " Finally i asked could my room be moved and the front desk person agreed and came up to show me the new room & to give me the key. It was almost like i was being a bother by asking to relocate my room. After the move and settling back in, the rest of the evening went well. The next morning we get a knock on the door at 8am and we answer " yes?" The housekeeper says, " housekeeping !"we let her know we are all set and place the do not disturb sign on the door. No more than maybe 30-40 mins later the housekeeper comes back and starts knocking on the door. Again, we tell her we are all set. Next thing you know, she's making her way into the room while my husband was not dressed. Is this the practice of the hotel? When i went to check out i asked to speak to the manager and i explained the incidents to her and she tells me the housekeeper had the right to come in the room because we said we are all set and maybe she thought we meant we were checking out. I asked how could that be if we already told her we didn't want housekeeping. Jennifer the proceeds to ask me the race of the housekeeper and says maybe she didn't understand. Really ?!! Jennifer the manger was too busy making foolish excuses instead of trying to resolve how i felt. She was not helpful at all and never asked how she could've made things better for us. At 5am the person in the room next to me had a conference call, which is his prerogative but I could hear every word from my bed. Took the management 25m to check if they had earplugs and another 20m to move me to another room. I would not recommend this place. read more

I was flying into Newark and the weather was too bad to land, so we had to detour to Boston. After 6+ hours on the runway on top of a 7 hour flight, they finally let us off the plane to fend for ourselves until morning. Nearly every single hotel was booked out but luckily The Row had a room. Yes, it was $350, but it was worth not sleeping on the airport floor. When I got there at 1AM, the front desk team was literally equivalent to a hug. They let me vent about my terrible night and then immediately tried to do what they could to help. They asked if I needed any toiletries and thought of essentials I hadn't thought of, like a toothbrush. I asked if they had a spare charger because my broke on the plane, they didn't but the woman that was checking me in literally ran out to her car to check and see if her Android charger would work on my iPhone. We knew it probably wouldn't but she insisted on trying. She was going to let me take her personal charger for the night and just trusted I would give it back in the AM. I was honestly so thankful. She also gave me a couple water bottles and a late check out so I wouldn't have to go back to the airport earlier than I needed to the next day. AND she told me to grab something from their little snack selection because she knew I hadn't eaten since I left SF that morning. She went above and beyond. I went from being in the worst mood and on the verge of tears to just finally feeling like I could relax. (Only now realizing I've been raving about this one amazing woman and nothing about the room, but she deserves it). Anyway, I ended up being at the hotel for a total of like 8 hours, but it was a good 8 hours. The bed was gigantic and very comfortable. There was a huge TV that I was able to fall asleep to, and a little couch which would be nice if I needed to get any work done the next day. Oh, and the bathrooms?! Double sinks, and a private shower: incredible if you're traveling with someone. They have all the products you'll need and plenty of them. I can't say enough good things about The Row. I wish I had more time to enjoy the hotel because the bar on the main level looked like a place I'd love to grab a drink. Looking forward to our stay but dissapointed. Staff not personable and not professional. We stayed as part of a group for a wedding. My sister had made the reservation for herself and her husband. Unfortunately she recently passed away. When my brother in law went to check in he was told that his wife made the reservation and she needed to be there. They do have the same last name and address. We explained that she had recently died. The clerk after some discussion (and embarassment on our part) my brother in law was told that they would grant an exception this time. No one said sorry it was just very rude. Breakfast the next morning was terrible. And it is not inexpensive. After a 45 minute wait my waffle arrived stone cold. I called the manager over. He removed the plate never said sorry or offered an alternate. I had to tell him do not change me for it. The other person had a piece of toast - 45 minute wait and only warm. Because there are no carpets in the hallway we heard everything in the room, loud talking, hign heels, maids arriving in the morning. Do not plan on a good night sleep. There is no service elevator so more than once we had to wait for the next elevator as it was full with carts, etc.. Find another place to stay read more

Our wedding at the Row Hotel was the best choice that we made! The hotel is modern and gorgeous, but more importantly, Marissa made the event planning fun and smooth! She was always so kind and supportive no matter what changes we wanted made. She responded quickly and kept everything super organized! The Row ensured all dietary and taste restrictions were accommodated safely. Marissa provided one-on-one care the week of the wedding taking care of even the small things like getting us up to our suite and the big things like making the decorations look better than we even envisioned! Marissa and her team were there throughout the event to ensure everything went smoothly and helped afterwards to even clean. We could not have picked a better venue to make our event perfect!
