Clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Parking was simple and easy with small adjacent deck. Breakfast also ample and easy. Saw lots of complaints about this but you get vouchers. You can use in restaurant or for breakfast. It has certain value and you don't get change. Gives you flexibility to save on what you choose and it is not a difficult concept! Only disappoint is there is NOT an onsite bar as shown on their website. Not a big deal, but it's permanently closed and we'd planned to visit over a drink and some snacks in the evening. Courtyard Boston Cambridge is aptly named as it sits on the banks of the Charles River which separates the two neighboring cities. An Uber ride to the Fenway area where we had a scheduled event took 15 minutes. Extremely walkable area but if you aren't keen on walking 15-20 minutes to Central Square or 25-30 minutes to Harvard Square, choosing a hotel closer to a T stop might be a better fit. Our room was ready when we arrived earlier than the hotel's usual 3pm check-in time. Spacious with two queen beds, both clean & comfortable. Large window lets in those gorgeous New England views. Spotless bathroom, strong shower pressure. Hotel guests will never want for snacks; there's a Trader Joe's across the parking lot & a small market in the lobby which also sells toiletries you may have traveled without. We stayed at the Courtyard for the Head of the Charles Regatta at Harvard. It is the perfect location as it is right on the river, and about a 20 minute walk along the river path to get there. Our room had a lovely view of the river and the boats, with lots of natural light. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Shout out to Shaon as he went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful! He deserves a major kudos! Thank you!! Daley (sp) and Sandra were super kind and helpful as well as the manager of housekeeping, who we met in the hall. There were two other associates who responded to my requests at night that were so nice (I'm sorry I didn't get their names). I would highly recommend this hotel as it is away from the crowds and in a quiet location, but still on the river. Chose this hotel based on its proximity to MIT where I was for a conference. The location is great, as it is within 5 min walking distance to the campus. Despite a remodel, this hotel has clearly been around for a while, so you get things like rickety and pensive elevators and such. My room was spacious and had a convenient work zone, which I absolutely needed for this stay. That said, unfortunately, from maintenance perspective, there were a few hiccups which needed to be addressed: low safe battery, loud dripping faucet in the shower (an unwelcome soundtrack when you are trying to sleep after an exhausting day). Maybe I just got unlucky with the room allocation... The breakfast was ok (or so), but the breakfast crew was very welcoming and friendly. Overall, it is a solid 3 out of 5 for me. A good choice if you need to get to the MIT campus, otherwise skippable. read more

Totally worked for a quick trip to Harvard. Makes it sound like it's a far walk, but we were there in maybe 10-15min easy walk if you're someone who doesn't mind a little exercise in the morning. The hotel itself worked fine, but the gal who checked us in at the front desk was their gem. Wish I recalled her name b/c she was so pleasant, helpful and friendly, especially when we arrived at 11:30pm at night after a long flight (give her 5 stars). They have a little snack store with some candy, drinks, a few frozen entrees. Waters are pricey as they always are in a hotel "shop". The hotel is nothing fancy, but totally worked for our needs and within our price point. We knew there were several fees added onto the room at the time of booking but we needed a room. Found out the resort fee, or whatever they're calling it, is then essentially refunded to u in the form of a breakfast voucher. This is obnoxious, but it sounded to us like the city enforces the fee (?). Anyway, the breakfast isn't remotely worth it. Unless u simply need to fill the food void, go to a coffee shop instead. It's a typical crappy Hampton Inn type free breakfast, maybe worse b/c if you happen to put bacon AND sausage on your plate, it no longer qualifies as free. Okay....So I'll put the sausage back. NO! You can't do that. Can't throw it away. Okay....I'll just pay for the random piece of sausage and just want to be done with the very dumb disagreement. The room was packed with people, some w/their heads on the table sleeping. Again, the breakfast wasn't worth the effort - skip it. One other thing - in the room we kept thinking we were hearing running water or a toilet flushing, but it was the heater. Guess I forgot to take pics inside the room. It was typical. This review sounds worse than 3 stars, but truly customer service was awesome, the room was truly fine and it was convenient to our destination. read more

Courtyard is an absolute slimeball host. They sneak in dishonest fees and offer them as "complimentary vouchers" until you get your bill. I will never stay in another Courtyard Marriot again until they reverse their dishonest and shortsighted policies. They even charge 45 dollars a night for parking. They are trash! read more

The Marriott Courtyard has location and friendly staff in its favor. But, it has the overpowering fragrance of an uber ride from hell, the kind that doesn't just have a tree, but also open cans and bricks of perfume lining the entire car. The rooms are a little better than the lobby and the windows open, thankfully. If you are sensitive to fragrances, you'll likely be better off in a student dorm. And you'll have a few hundred extra dollars in your pocket. read more

I was looking for a Marriott hotel close to my sons apartment, my search brought me to Courtyard by Marriott. This hotel chain is on a lower scale of a typical Marriott hotel. That's ok, if it's a well kept hotel then I don't mind missing the fancy soaps and full breakfast options. We were greeted by a nice man at the front desk. I gave him my Marriott rewards number. I said since I'm a gold member do I get fluffier towels? I was kidding of course but he did lower the parking fee. See what happens when your nice? This is already putting me in a good mood. This hotel offers free water and I was well hydrated during the check in process. Our room? King size bed, large closet and regular bathroom with a shower curtain. Meh, not a biggie. I did notice the shower ceiling had some peeling paint. Not very Marriott-y... The parking lot access was easy peasy! Come and go as you please, i just waived my hotel key and the gate opened. The buffet is where I took the 4 stars down to 3 stars. It's a small area with a waffle iron and a few hot item tins. Cereal and Oatmeal are also a choice along with a toaster. Hey, how about some hard boiled eggs? I don't like scrambled eggs sitting over a warmer. We had two vouchers and we paid for our son & girlfriend. Waking out, the dining room is full? I see a door opened with more tables, we step inside? Now I have a waiter giving us dirty looks? Hey pal, I'm a paying customer and need a place to sit. Do your damn job you cry baby! My wife and I stayed there while in Boston for the Heart concert on April 13th, 2025. As some have noted, it's a little dated. For us, it was fine. The shower pressure was top notch and it was clean. However with that being said, their customer service was top notch and made the stay memorable. Everyone at the front desk was terrific and extremely helpful with all of my questions. The gated parking lot was easy to use and the flow of Ubers (for food and drives) never stopped at the pick-up drop off area. It was well laid out to support that. There was an Uber food spot in the lobby. Great spot and when in the area next time, I will book again. read more

I was at this hotel (12/12-12/15) visiting my hometown after 23 years with my wife and a 7 month old baby. I had a terrible experience at this hotel. 1) the lady checking me in was very rude , rushing thru the check in process. 2) a destination fee of $25 per day . She said that is like resort fee. Really? This hotel is nothing close to a resort. They make you pay extra $25 a night and then basically tell you you need to spend this in our restaurant . They have a crappy breakfast and crappy wait staff and during the day a Japanese restaurant . So basically you are left with not much of a choice. Lastly, I received an email from Dimetrius Simon ( operations Manager) with 4 other managers copied, asking me how my stay was , to which I responded right away but over 2 weeks later my email and concern has been totally ignored. Horrible customer service, manager does not demonstate competence or communicate effectively with loyal members. Security harasses you in the parking lot before you can get your luggage out of your car. The "amenities fee" or whatever they are calling it with credit back for breakfast is a scam. This hotel is run very differently from every other Marriott I've stayed at and I'm platinum elite (which apparently doesn't mean much). Extra charges were also on the bill (this was also in reviews for this hotel on Marriott website). Wish I had read more about the hotel before I stayed. DO NOT STAY HERE. Parking is expensive. They charge "resort fees". They also charge you a nonrefundable fee for one of their restaurants, and this restaurant has very limited hours so you're lucky if you can even make it there on time. Now besides all this, when my best friend and I checked out, there was still a hold on her account after a few days. Upon further research we had found that they charged us $250 for a "smoking fee" because apparently the sensors detected that someone smoked in the room. We viewed the report, it stated that smoke levels were high at 11AM. MIND YOU, my friend and I checked in at 3pm. Also, we NEVER smoked in the room - we don't even smoke. So make it make sense...We had proof that we checked in at 3pm from the hotel receipt, otherwise we would have been SOL. This place will try to scam you, DO NOT STAY HERE. THEY'RE CRIMINALS. And if you try to call the front desk for help they do absolutely nothing! STAY AWAY. read more

I really like this property due to its proximity to MIT plus great outdoors for running. Right of the banks of Charles river, and if you can request a river view room, you will really enjoy the stay. Parking is paid (it's steep --- both the fees and the parking lot) but the rates early Spring were downright accommodating (pun intended). Did not try their cafe but their gym equipment was all functional (and not crowded). Hotel staff was very friendly and overall made you feel welcome. read more

This hotel is my go-to hotel in Cambridge! I have stayed there many times over the past year since my daughter goes to college nearby, and I would have to say the best thing about it is the staff!! All of them are incredible - especially Brahim, Sandra, Judit, Rahman, Rebecca, and Joey! They are kind, helpful, and professional. Overall, it is the staff that makes staying at this hotel feel like a home away from home. The rooms are nice, especially the ones overlooking the Charles River, and the location could not be better for parents of students at MIT and Harvard. read more

I'm giving them a 5 star for service. From the moment we were greeted to the time we left a day later, everyone was very friendly. We were there for an important business meeting and the front staff allowed us to work upstairs in their closed off dining area all evening. Upon checking in, we were all given a chance to spin a wheel for additional elite benefits and despite spinning the smallest reward, they gave us all 5k bonus points to our accounts. The location is fantastic - overlooking the city of Boston and just a T or Lyft/Uber ride away from the action. Inexpensive way to visit the city. I'm being generous giving them a two star rating. They hit you with "destination fees" supposedly to cover the cost of amenities, except there are no amenities. The "complimentary" breakfast is very confusing. They don't explain how the $32 daily food allowance works. They tell you that the vouchers you get are for the Japanese steakhouse, but conveniently forget to tell you what to do with the unused ones. Apparently you can use them at the breakfast room too, but that wasn't clear, so I got charged every day for a breakfast that other hotels just offer you without any nonsense. They knew I was a guest and that the breakfast should have been charged against my daily food allowance, but instead chose to charge me full fare, which was very expensive. Unfortunately, given this location, it is the only place for miles to get breakfast. The fee structure at this hotel is byzantine at best. Stay elsewhere. read more

Not sure why there are two identical pages for this Courtyard by Marriott Cambridge, but given a second opportunity I won't hesitate to offer the same criticism I had in my first review. The hotel itself is fine. It would be a four star experience if the only things mentioned were the room comfort and scenic view from the sixth floor. But, it is not. The integrity of the business also comes into play. In this instance the failure of their advertising on third party sites like Expedia or Priceline to disclose that there is a $39 + tax charge for parking in their garage. A oblique reference to it appears on the confirmation, but that is a little late, because of the extra effort required to cancel that reservation and start from scratch in finding another room. Too, there is no need for this semi-hidden upcharge when there is the garage on premises that is plenty big enough to handle the guests' vehicular storage needs. Better to tell us up front that parking raises the overall cost of a night's stay, and let the chips fall where they may in whether that makes a difference to potential customers. For this traveler, such fraudulent disrespect for the luggaged public is enough to turn me off Marriott for a long time. There are too many alternative hospitality options to be nickeled and dimed by this outfit. And, they wonder why Marriott has a bad reputation. PRO TIP: Don't tell anyone I told you this, but you can park behind the hotel in the Trader Joe's parking lot for free. read more

The Courtyard Boston Cambridge is one of my fave Boston hotels. My preference is to stay outside of downtown Boston and this Cambridge hotel fits the bill for me. Plus this area is familiar to me because my sis went to college in Cambridge. Why do I like this hotel? The river views are nice. The other place worth staying at is the Harbor area. You can walk to the T (Central Square Stop on the subway) in under 17 minutes. The hotel is off the Charles River, there's jogging in the morning along the river. There are walking lanes and benches along the river. There's a Massage Envy, Starbucks and TJ's next door too. There's a Bisuteki (Japanese resto) on prems. There's a Whole Foods on the way to the T. Then there's the staff....seriously helpful and polite. The front desk person Joel admittedly noticed I was in a hurry and he had my high floor room request rush processed. Love the staff here. Thank you for your efficiency Joel!! The staff is always responsive and supportive here. And when you come home, before sunset get a few cocktails going and watch Cambridge slumber into a beautiful night, you'll be glad you stayed here instead of the claustrophobia that is downtown Boston. One complaint .....Who the F charges $39 for parking everyday? The Courtyard Boston Cambridge, that's who! Courtyards typically offer free parking. Minus 1 star Tip: Ask for a high floor. If you're staying over the weekend and don't wanna pay the $39 dollar parking, there's street parking..heed signs tho'. Sunsets are beautiful on the top floors here, over the river. $12 Uber to airport during off peak periods. Breakfast is standard offerings, not cheap. A stay at a Courtyard by Marriott doesn't typically warrant a review...but...the folks running this one are easily some of the best people I've encountered in 25 years of traveling. I interacted with 4 different front desk folks over the course of my short stay and each one was honestly amazing at their job and super relaxing and calm. Thats it, not a lot more...the rooms are fine, everything is clean. The reason for the dropping of one star is the Japanese restaurant attached. As good as the hotel is, the restaurant is that abysmal. Took me two nights to even get someone to seat me. Had to find staff to take my order, and the food was literally inedible. Thats all. Not worth more words discribing it. If these guys are renting from Marriott, kick them out and install a Wendy's. Theres no way it could be worse. read more

There's a lot to like about this place: modern, well appointed, very spacious rooms...beautiful views of Boston from the upper floors, and the wifi is actually not that bad (seemingly rare these days). It's also right next to a Trader Joe's, and within walking distance of a Whole Foods. Also the windows actually open for fresh air. All good things. But there are a few negatives: you have to pay for parking ($40 a day!) in their own parking lot, which if you are already paying hundreds of dollars for a room is some bullllllllsh-t. The breakfast is nothing more than a little marketplace where you overpay for various items. So you are paying hundreds of dollars for a room, and they charge you for breakfast, and they charge you for parking... There's no microwave in the room. Which isn't necessarily a big deal, but it's not exactly a positive. Also, there was no discernible way to turn off my heating/cooling unit. It's either heating, or cooling. There's no "fan" option for white noise. And to do your own laundry in their little laundromat costs six dollars. So I have mixed feelings about this hotel. My room was gorgeous and huge though. And the staff is very capable and warm. read more

The hallways don't appear to have been vacuumed since the Clinton administration. My room had chocolate chips on the floor from a previous guest. Parking costs $39 per night. The lobby has an odd mix of musty and chemical odors. The staff bicker in front of guests. The loud room fan cannot be turned off. Get the idea? On the plus side, the rooms do appear to have been mildly remodeled sometime in the past several years (mattresses excluded obviously). Spend a few extra bucks to stay at the Hyatt a block away. read more

I'm resisting complaining, but for $300/night, and as a "Bonvoy" GOLD person - I'm an old SPG member - I'm VERY disappointed in this hotel. First the supposed "good stuff" - location is pretty good, and getting an Uber from here is quick. The disappointing features: No acknowledgement of Gold status. No welcome gift of points or drink, etc No upgraded room No free upgraded WiFi - had to pay extra (I didn't) Very pricey $20 breakfast that's basically a continental buffet that's free at other hotels. Complementary Coffee in lobby gets put away promptly at 10am. I was charged $2.50 for coffee in the breakfast room - the worker on staff decided NOT to tell me I could get free coffee in the lobby. No safes in the rooms. No complementary water in room No extra points for skipping maid service. Now The architecture This place is old Furniture is new and ok Bathroom needs new tub fixtures Lighting in bathroom is awful No fan in bathroom Generally I felt like I was being ripped off my entire stay. This is not an equivalent place to what I'm used to with Starwood. So far, I'm really disappointed in this merger. read more

Hello Courtyard!! Wow, from the moment I walked in I was impressed. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, giving me a recognized greeting and a quick and thorough layout of the property. The lobby seems modern and pretty chic. There's a Japanese steakhouse on the property and a Starbucks and Trader Joe's right next door. When I got to my room, there was chocolate and a bottle of water waiting (complimentary). This was such a nice welcome to walk into. The property is located right on the river so there are great views and a great running/walking trail to get some exercise and fresh air. I really don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel. Honestly, this Courtyard is better than some of the regular Marriott hotels that I've stayed at. This courtyard Marriott is so conveniently located surrounded with Starbucks, Trader Joe's, and whole foods. The jogging trail along the Charles River allows the runner in me want to jog, unfortunately it was raining. It is a less busy area but still a hop away from Boston and Allston area where good restaurants located. Parking fee is $35 a day. Ouch! Beside that the hotel and staff are great. read more

Can't get much better in the Boston area for under 150$ a night. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from central station and about 15 mins to the Garden/Logan airport by car. It is a very convenient location. The staff was prompt asking for a license and credit card upon arrival. When checking out they make sure your bill is square. The place/room is very clean and simple, or at least they made it seem that way. Clean sheets, pillows, bed, bathroom and no weird smells in the room. Enjoyable view of the Charles with a window that actually opens! All hotels should have windows that open, but some don't and I hate that Great place can't wait to return again! read more

What a great experience! I was visiting Boston from California with plans to go to Burlington. With weather advisories at the time, I was able to get refunded at our hotel and did a quick trip over to Cambridge for a change of scene. Courtyard Marriot was perfect! I'll start with the only thing that I wish went differently. I was given a little card with information into whats nearby and what not, however, being the person I am, I didn't even look at it. It did inform me that for $5 I could have bought a day pass for the shuttle. I didn't realize this and was using Uber to get around. It wasn't until we returned after 2 trips, that I asked the man in the shuttle and he told me. This is completely my mistake by not reading, but I would have loved it if I was told this when I checked in. Other than that, our stay was wonderful. At check in, we were able to get in 2 hours early. Not only that, but after bringing up my visit and the occasion, we were put up in 1504... WHAT A VIEW! The room was wonderful, but even if it was just a bed, I would have still loved my stay, given the view alone. A mini fridge, nice bathroom, and comfortable bed all made our stay great. The two of us had plenty of space to hang out a bit before heading back out that night. The location is a bit far from anywhere we wanted to go, but it's location to the Charles River makes it worth taking transportation. We spent all day and night in Harvard Square and I cannot wait to get the chance to go back. It is guaranteed that my next stay in Cambridge will be here again. I could not be happier. read more

I normally don't write reviews, but after tonight feel I should. Positives: hotel is in great location, pretty good size rooms, staff is friendly Negatives: if you have a car it's over $40 for more than 7 hours of parking, there's no microwave, found bug in my room and the person who came to inspect it claimed it was a mosquito...it was definitely not a mosquito. Someone was smoking marijuana on my floor several times and several times my room filled with smoke and it smelled like skunk leaving me with a terrible headache, called the hotel staff several times, and still feel like nothing is being done about this. I'm an asthmatic on top of all of this, so being in this situation is tough. I paid for a nonsmoking hotel and didn't get one. Am going to speak to management in the morning. read more

I am a gold member and this place failed to deliver 1. There was no heat in my room for two nights. I had to use an external heater for third 2. They got the billing all wrong. I asked them to split charges on two separate credit cards. Well they split charges but put on same credit card 3. I never got my points for the stay. Went to someone else 4. I asked Billing to fix 2&3. They promised to get back to me. Never did 5. Gym stinks. Food is barely adequate. Waters hard to obtain ( was told to go to gym and bring a cup) 5. When i called Courtyard Marriott a second time to fix this, saying i needed a bill to me at my home address, showing the amount i paid, they again sent me bill with wrong address and zero balance but no proof of what i paid. Maybe the hotel is "clean" and there were no bed bugs in my bed, but this is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. The odor in the room is the same as the odor in the hallways, a sort of unique chemical/old smoke residue, and gave me a headache. At least I can open my window to let some fresh air in, but then I need to turn on the heater which blows around the odor. The towels are well worn, and also have a (different) bad chemical odor as well. Perhaps some Bounty in the wash would have made things much more pleasant. Hotel staff seem friendly, small cupcakes were served at night, some apples in the morning. Hot cocoa and apple cider above a flame in the lobby. Room can have a nice view of the river, Boston skyscrapers, Trader Joes parking lot and loading dock, and the Micro Center. Parking in their lot or covered garage structure was over $30 per day for each night of the stay. read more
