Fun, open-&-airy atmosphere, relaxed and casual -- yet lively, with a variety of seating options inside and outside (I appreciate the bar top and the high-top table options). From our initial impression at the host desk, customer service was impressive; the staff was contagiously positive and friendly, making one feel welcomed! We were fortunate to be served by Sam (energetic, positive-&-friendly, approachable, and attentive), who made our first visit a very enjoyable one. Having a talented performer entertaining us in the early afternoon was a huge bonus! Cocktails were done well. Desiring something small, we shared their (3.5 stars) Baja Salad ($16), which was sparse on ingredients and rather bland in flavors (I was trying to locate all of the listed ingredients); however, light & refreshing -- sufficient for our progressive dining/drinking plan for the day. I'm curious to experience more of their menu items. From Saturday (11 AM - 3 PM) to Sunday (10 AM - 3 PM), one may only order off their Brunch menu. The menus do state that "a 3.95% surcharge will be added to all checks to support free live music, food market volatility, and other operational costs". Absolute fun find!

My girlfriend and I were looking for a dinner spot with live music and stumbled upon this place. I guess she has been here before as well but it was my first time. And this is such a cute spot! Right behind the metro station on the Main Street you'll find the roxy. They have an indoor outdoor Vibe with a lot of windows which adds a really nice feel to the restaurant while still staying warm in this San Diego winter. I love the live performers it was such a nice Vibe of instrumental piano and guitar while we enjoyed our dinner. Our server was very tentative and did a really good job at explaining the dishes when we are being undecisive. Overall I had a really great experience and definitely would recommend this place if you're looking for a dinner with live music. They do live music most days of the week just check their schedule online ahead of time.

Came for Happy Hour and dinner on a Saturday night. Appreciated the various gluten free options. Happy Hour starts at 3pm but we planned to have dinner too so came a little later. Arrived just before 5pm on Saturday night and got 3 top one table away from the stage and a table away from the front. Good location to hear the music while also people watch. Perfect timing because about an hour later the place was packed. Good service, several wait staff checked on us, made sure we had drinks, water, and were quick to take our order and remove empty plates. Hubby and I shared the garlic fries (gluten free). I got a Coupe de Vie and he got the Pizza Port IPA. Happy Hour pricing so $2 off the drinks. The Coupe de Vie was tasty, the Wheatley Vodka was okay, would be smoother with Grey Goose. I would have gotten another but wanted to be able to sleep. Followed that up with Bees Knees. The ginger has a kick so be forewarned. The Spinach and Arugula salad (gluten free) was delicious. Generous portion. Lots of spinach, light on the arugula just the way I like it. Will definitely order again. Hubby devoured his Roxy Burger, enough said. Live music was a talented young man on the keyboard, who played a variety of genres. Neat rendition of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Will be back again.

MOLTEN CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE with whipped cream, a berry coulis, fresh berries, and powdered sugar

shame on me for not writing this sooner. have eaten here a couple of times, once with friends and once for desert. the first time was so long ago the photos did not link to this review. if you're curious, you gotta do a little work. I'm not much of a desert person but really needed some closure after a disappointing dinner at Sago, a restaurant a few doors down. the MOLTEN CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE with whipped cream, berry coulis, fresh berries, and powdered sugar filled the void nicely. flash backward many months: met friends for dinner here (their suggestion) so long ago they've divorced and are seeing other people, hence my snarky, self-deprecating remark about shame on me. started the evening with an ORANGE RUMSICLE (Bumbu aged rum, lemon, orange Madagascar vanilla liqueur, and egg white). am partial to dusty martinis but am trying to be less predictable. the rumsicle was good but no way I'm ready to give-up Grey Goose and blue-cheese olives. the wife unit and I shared the GRILLED ROMAINE CAESAR (grated parmesan, organic baby romaine, garlic ciabatta croutons, Caesar dressing). tiny twist on what has become a restaurant standard. sad that the dressing has been toned down to not offend finicky American palates: light on the punch-in-the-face flavors of lemon, garlic, and anchovies. on a personal note: I make my Caesar dressing with garum, a Roman style fish sauce, though have been known to substitute Red Boat in a pinch. the ex-couple split the VODKA PENNE (gluten-free pasta, vodka-cream sauce, grated parmesan, and basil oil) with grilled shrimp. just realized that's what my wife had for dinner last night at Vigilucci's. should I be worried? anyway, that evening my lovely wife had the EMPANADAS (ricotta, summer squash, and roasted cremini filled pastries with house pesto) and I had the PORK BELLY ADOBO (Seaboard Farms pork, soy-marinated soft-boiled egg, white rice, adobo broth, and scallions). both dishes were outstanding. we finished with BEIGNETS (pastry cream-filled pastries w/powdered sugar and a berry coulis). good but less beignet than a plump, roundish, deconstructed eclair. live music at least the two times we were there. appreciate places that support local artists. looking back, it was a lovely evening, bitter-sweet in retrospect.

They have a chill vibe with live music on Fridays. I wasn't the biggest fan of their food options on the menu and the food just didn't really seem worth the price. The place seemed to have maybe one or two people serving the whole place so it took a bit of time and had to flag down our server multiple times to get things. Overall I'd probably just go there for drinks at the bar but that's it.

Very overpriced for very mediocre food and drinks. They charge for a shot glass of pineapple juice (used as a chaser to shots served in rocks glasses) which is something I've never heard of, if we were ordering a full glass of pineapple sure, a shot glass full? Absolutely not. Their 'special butter burger' is the same price as their regular burger which comes with more toppings. Don't even get me started on the service, absolutely horrible. Our server was basically nonexistent and her coworkers did more to actively care for our table while she was off doing who knows what. The dj played through a lot of game audio and was very late to switch back to the game sound. Also had to hunt down our own silverware and napkins.

I was very upset that I did not get to attend the Yelp event when it was happening but I had the opportunity to stop by today during am outing thay turned into a solo date for me. I started the day by reading near the Moonlight Beach and started feeling famished. Of course, the first thing I did was hop onto Yelp to see what was nearby. Next thing you know The Roxy was a 5 minute walk. How could I refuse. It took minutes for me to be seated inside and was assisted by Bacardi B, who was certain he was terrible at was he does. Is he attentive, he catches on and knows how much attention each table needs. If you know, you know. My meal was delicious I had The Roxy Scramble no cheese and sooo freaking delicious. The perfect amount that doesn't leave you feeling like a glutton and of course I added Sriracha for an extra kick. Honestly i didn't expect to have a drink because I was stuck on the English Breakfast Tea but mannn if you don't try the Espresso Martini you're going to wish you did. So creamy and delicious. I had the pleasure of meeting Terry who checks in to make sure everything is up to par and he is absolutely welcoming. He let me know on Wednesdays they have some jazz and I also got to experience the DJ on Sundays. This place is a complete vibe. Mind you I came in with the intention of grabbing food, reading and leaving and I stayed about 3 hours I was happy they didn't kick me out as a solo person with a book. Ill be back and have already started telling people about this place.

Love this place! Would be 5 stars except last time I was there finally at the front of the line after waiting 20 min, the bouncer that looks like a 50 year old spray tanned thumb let a group of 8 people cut in front of my wife and I by paying him $20 each to his personal Venmo. Was a total dick about it too, said "oh you wanna go in right now? you can pay me $20 each too. Otherwise wait here" Cut this shit out and I'll go back to 5 stars.

After a long day of hiking, my good friend and I decided to stop here for a cocktail. The Roxy Encinitas was established in 1978 and was originally a restaurant and Ice cream place. It is the longest operating business in Encinitas. It has been through a recent remodel in 2016 and continues to serve the North County coastal community. I had never been here before, but it's a favorite watering hole for my friend. We received really good service from the bartender. I went with a Cosmopolitan and my friend had a Vodka Martini. Both drinks were stellar! Atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing just as a beach bar should be. They feature live entertainment nightly as well. Be sure to park behind the restaurant or street parking is available. We did not have time to eat but I plan to return in the future to try their food.

Off menu cheese curds. Get them, you won't regret it.

This place rocks (pun intended)!!! My husband and I came here on a Saturday evening in January and loved everything about it. First of all, it wasn't busy which surprised us, but maybe it was the time of year. We read reviews that it was dog friendly and planned on sitting inside after signing a waiver. I guess they don't do the waiver anymore and let dogs in because they said they couldn't sit us inside even with the dog. We sat just behind the gate so we were outside but felt inside. We ended up moving MORE outside after learning the heater above our table was broken. The heaters on the patio crank and we were just fine. We could still hear the live music which is so nice to have. The service was great. Food came out very promptly and hot. Our cups were never empty and we didn't get pestered. Our waiter also recommended the cheese curds which were not on the menu and they were DELICIOUS! So flavorful on their own with herbs in the breading. YUM. I recommend eating with a little marina. The ranch was good, but not needed because it masked the great flavor. For entrees my husband got the bucatini carbonara with chicken and I got the beef stroganoff. My husband said his pasta didn't even need the chicken, it was so good on its own. My beef stroganoff.... Good Lord it was good. I could eat that in the daily and die happy. They said the menu is seasonal but I sure hope the stroganoff is there was I come back because I WILL BE BACK. PS. They also made a banging Shirley temple with a perfect Sprite to grenadine ratio.

Hibiscus Gin Fizz -- so pretty! But was a bit on the sweet side for me

Okay -- I LOVE this place!! I can't believe it's taken me so long to try it -- but I was SO pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I ordered the salmon with truffle fries and I was blown away by yummy it was!! The drinks were good too -- we ordered a mixture of drinks, and honestly the negroni & the dirty martinis were done super well! Wish I had remembered to take a photo of my food -- but was having too good a time by the time it came to remember to do so! ;) The best part of this place is the vibe -- such GREAT live music, and so many happy, smiling, dancing people! What a great place to start the night off at! Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 10/10 Drinks: 9.5/10 Cost: 8.5/10

My friend and I stopped in after a day at the beach! I got a glass of cava that was on the happy hour.. props to them! And my friend got a Paloma! She said it tasted horrible! We got an order of garlic fries! The fries were really good! It took a long time for our server to come back! No one asked if we even liked our drinks. Not from this town but I would say there are better spots to get a drink and an app'

Came here during the street fair to grab some real food. My friend and I shared a burger which was fantastic with a side salad that was just ok. Busy but our server was fantastic and so sweet. The place was packed, live music a bit too loud to really converse. They have a great menu

Do you still have bottomless mimosas?

Hi Shaila, we discontinued bottomless after covid but hope to one day bring it back!

    Do you have live music?

    Yes. Mostly everyday.

Are there beach views and o outside seating?

We do offer lots of outdoor seating, however coast hwy does not offer views of the beach.

Given COVID does this place still have live music during the week?

Hey Sarah, unfortunately the latest county guidelines prohibit us from having live music. We can't wait to get our local favorites back and will announce that on all platforms as soon as we are allowed to get it going again.

Is there live music every night? year round? form what time to what time? thank you

We do have live music every night of the week plus shows for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Times vary by day. Our entire live music calendar is available on our website… Read more

Did they change fish? Tasted the same basically. Still amazing as always. We also tried some new dishes: Beef Tartare Chicken Thigh Skewers Green Curry Mussels The Beef Tartare was just okay. It's the only dish I probably would not ever order again. It wasn't bad, but compared to every other banger on the menu, it's last. Something has to be last. The Chicken Thigh Skewers were AMAZING! OMG, so much flavor in the chicken but the sauce really drove it overboard. Wow. These are a must try, you won't regret it. And lastly, the Green Curry Mussels blew us away. I love mussels and always order it whenever I see it on a menu. We devoured all of the mussels (and added the $9 Roti) and even got a container to-go to save the broth, lol. Truly another banger from Dija Mara. I really appreciate that the menu changes periodically without removing the veteran dishes we continue to enjoy. Just want to mention something besides the culinary spectacles. Dija Mara's decor is every bit as memorable as its food. The artwork isn't an afterthought--it's part of the experience. The dining room manages to feel both trendy and intimate at the same time, while the graffiti-covered back wall adds a playful, street-art feel that contrasts beautifully with the polished food and cocktails. The result is a space that feels creative, unpretentious, and genuinely cool. The industrial concrete and reclaimed wood elements give it a modern edge, while the Indonesian-inspired art creates a sense of place that feels completely unique in North County. This is really our happy place and I hope it never changes.

However, when I reached my hand out, he hesitated. I told him we don't live together (speaking of my son who was sitting next to me) and he started to hand it to me, but then pulled it back. He informed me it's in case we come back... funny, our topic of conversation that day was how hard it was for women growing up in my era and working their way up the ladder... how times have changed. A masterfully, monstrous mix of meat & seafood, all on top of some bomb-a** Saffron Bomba Rice! There's even a lobster tail in case you're still hungry! Queue the Flamenco show. The two dancers were elegant, the music was powerful, the singer sublime! Enjoy your dinner to a phenomenal 2 part show put on by very talented artists! We got to meet them after the show, as they personally thanked practically every guest! Elegant as their artform! Lest we forget the dessert! The Flourless Chocolate Cake was just the right amount of sweetness to cap off the dinner & show, as we shared our own sweet nothings. Love & Chocolate, a perfect combo, just like my beloved beauty & her humble narrator. As the performers were packing up & saying their final goodbyes, the staff was clearing the space for the last part of our adventure...dancing! A brief 15ish minute wait back outside & back inside we went! Got a great spot up front by the stage, but be aware the only sitting will be done by the VIP section. I believe it's bottle service only, but you can ask. We didn't, as we did not intend to sit at all! We boogied down, baby! The DJ did a great job keeping the vibe alive. Perfect ending to a perfect night. *Caveat - The dinner menu has other options & several a la carte items, if you so choose. Check their website for specific package info. You cannot go wrong. TL:DR - Never give up on love!

When I made the reservation, it was noted that there is a 1.5 hour limit on the table. Thankfully, Botanica isn't incredibly stringent about this rule as it gave us more time to eat, drink and be merry. My friend and I split the bill and I paid $87.49 with tip included. Here's what we had: Blistered shishito peppers - mild spice but flavorful New York strip yakitori - ordered two of these because they were that good! The steak was tender and the sauce rendered an umami flavor Botanika roll - tasted fine, but it ate one note. You can taste the citrusy parts but not much else. Mochi dessert - you can only get dessert if you order the pre fixe chef menu, but since our waitress didn't know this, she put the order in and gave it to us! We were incredibly grateful because it was the perfect end to a good meal For cocktails we ordered Spirited Away, Dragon of the West, Kyoko Sakura & Heads will Roll. All of the cocktails were beautifully presented and quite tasty.

A Hidden Gem Downtown, and Julie Makes It Unforgettable I…read morecame in for a very late lunch on a quiet afternoon and left with a full stomach and a big smile. I ordered the brussels sprouts and the paella, and both were outstanding. The brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, crispy where they should be, with a sauce that I'm still thinking about. The paella? Let's just say I have zero regrets eating every last bite. Zero. But honestly, the food almost plays second fiddle to the owner, Julie. She was running the show (the front of the house) solo while I was there, managing the business and somehow still being the most attentive and present host I've encountered in a long time. She's warm, funny, completely down to earth, and had stories that made the whole meal feel like a dinner party rather than a restaurant visit. It's rare to meet a business owner so genuinely personable and connected to her guests. Tapas & Beers is a family-owned French and Spanish gem tucked into a historic downtown building, and it absolutely deserves your visit. If you're in San Diego and this is on your radar, stop hesitating and just go. You'll leave full, happy, and probably already planning your next trip back.

Came here for Happy Hour, and our "pre" 20th wedding anniversary. Made reservations for happy hour…read moreat 5pm. When we arrived there was a line out around the corner. I think this is a regular occurrence. When the doors open, everyone rushes to get bar seating, which is first come, first served. At the front desk, we checked-in and they sat us at a table in the main dining room. I let it slide since we didn't want to get the Happy Meal anyway, but also wouldn't get any happy hour drink prices. We ordered: * Berry Hot & Bothered - $18 * Societe Bulbous Hazy IPA - $10 * Beef Carpaccio - $29 * Ode-to-Swan - $34 * Johnny Cake & Caviar - $29 * Half-Baked Red Snapper - $48 * Peaches, Peaches, Peaches - $18 * Butter Me Up - $17 The cocktails were fine. Butter Me Up was the best (an espresso martini). The beer was good. The Peaches and Berry drink were very mediocre. Server did get us two small glasses of champagne for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The Beef Carpaccio was amazing. There is a TON of breadcrumbs so if you inhaled, you'll choke. But the flavor was fantastic. Would order again. The Ode-To-Swan reminded me of the Spanish Sashimi at Valentina. Only they put a metric TON of chives on it so you can't even see the fish. This is a huge mistake. The dish was okay but all I tasted was chives. I love sashimi but would not order this again. The Johnny Cake was good but way too sweet! It's basically a thick pancake with caviar on top. The caviar was very savory and the sea bass rillete underneath was smoky. I loved the flavor combination but we could not finish the dish. The half-baked fish was phenomenal. A stunner. Even with the foggy eyeball staring at you. Soo good, I only wished there was more of that sauce on the plate. Even at $50, I would order this again. Total was $270 after tip. They add a 4% surcharge on the bill which is not great. I would come here again but skip the cocktails. Go to SAGO across the street instead for some banger cocktails. Parking was sparse. Street level only. We had to park a block away but the walk was not bad. It was 69° so the weather was perfect. Service was good but our server was clearly trying to get us to order more food. We did not need a second entree or a plate of carrots or potatoes. I would come back, mostly to try new dishes. The food is expensive but interesting in a way you don't know what something will taste like. Please ditch the chives on the sashimi!

The menu changes through the year which keeps our visits interesting and we always leave happy with our meals. Recent standouts from our 2026 visits include a duck pizza, a spring pea appetizer, and the chocolate tart. I appreciate the mocktail and kids menu! If you visit during the holidays, the bar area is decked out like the Santa himself oversaw the decorations. Street parking has been fairly easy to find within a couple blocks.
