I am very confused at the hype and reviews for this restaurant. It's an okay brunch spot at best. The attention for this place is driven by dishes catered towards Instagram and eating with your eyes, not the actual experience of eating with your hands and mouth. It's tough to get a table for a weekend noon. I booked our reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Parking is either near the train tracks across the street or on the curb. We got the egg dish and salad bowl. The yogurt for the eggs was deliciously spiced; dipping in the toasted bread into the gooey poached egg, creamy yogurt, and herbs was delicious! My issue with this dish were the herbs that were too large. Was I expected to stick a big piece of herb on my toast? The dish is saucy with the chili oil so my clothes were dirty with the oil covered herbs. Chop the herbs smaller for practicality! Another dish suffered from the execution. We got the bowl which I thought was going to be a grain bowl. Rather, it was a ridiculously-sized salad--as much leaves as a pack from the grocery store! There were toppings within like slices of avocado, pieces of orange, farro, and nuts. I felt like I was trying to treasure hunt to look for these pieces. The salad was comically oversized. It was dressed fine but suffered from the portion size. You could see this theme with the French toast too where you get 1/3 of a baked bread. Food was really delicious! Possibility the biggest French toast I have ever seen. Love how soft and moist the inside was but the crust stayed very crispy. PLANNING A VISIT: We planned ahead and booked our table 2-3 weeks in advance. We even arrived early, yet still faced a 30-minute wait which is a tough sell for a party who came hungry. AMBIANCE: The space is undeniably gorgeous, but the dining area itself is cramped, small, and fully outdoors. The weather was manageable, though standing in line in the heat while waiting wasn't exactly a great start to the meal. SERVICE: Our server was genuinely helpful and attentive for the most part, but there were some noticeable hiccups, with our dishes initially placed at the wrong table, and the overall pace of service felt slow. Taking the hubby on a small road trip and did a search for places to stop by and get some grub and Manna kept popping up so decided to make a reservation. Neither of us are big brunch people. I remember doing brunch back in the late 80s in NY and then going antiquing. That was a thing. Decided to try it anyhow since the photos look amazing. On the way down, there were accidents along the 5bfway and what should have been a 1.5 hour trip ended up taking over two hours. We were afraid to miss the place as they are open only until 2. We made it 40 minutes later than our reservation but we were quickly accommodated. And what a surprise. We had tow of their signature dishes. The Turkish eggs and the French toast. We also added the crudo and some non alcoholic cocktails. Service was friendly and efficient. The host welcoming and friendly, we chatted about traffic coming down and he gave us some history of the restaurant and other ventures. First time trying this place. Have had it saved for a little while. Parking is street and didn't have issues on a Saturday. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 15-17min which was odd but not a big deal as we weren't in a rush. They were definitely packed so understandable. The staff were all friendly and our server esp was knowledgeable, friendly and made great suggestions. I think her name was Stacia? Had the Veracruz drink which was SO tasty but VERY tiny. It was $11 and what massive sized balls of ice so in reality it ended up being a few sips I probably would not order again not because it didn't taste good but because you hardly get anything. The Turkish eggs + side of steak was fantastic! Probably my fav dish I've had in awhile. The portion of steak was unfortunately on the smaller side but perfectly cooked. The Spanish French toast on the other hand was quite large and beautifully plated. The flavors paired well together. Perfectly crunch on the outside and softer interior. Reservations encouraged and be prepared to have your palette wowed. We had a 10:30am reservation and were seated promptly. I ordered the Jasper Elixir which was bright, tangy, had a hint of cherry and coffee notes. The food was amazing, most notably the Turkish eggs with bread and the guava panna cotta. The poached eggs sit atop this luxurious herbed yogurt and chili oil with tons of fresh herbs. Once you break the yolk, you dip the crusty bread and gobble it up. The bites were creamy, velvety, tangy, and had a hint of spice. The guava panna cotta was really lovely, beautifully presented, and a nice sweet ending. I would pass on the French toast. It's a 1/3 of a loaf of bread that is soaked in custard but not enough to soak all the way through so the middle is dry and just like eating a piece of dry bread. I think the presentation is a wow factor but otherwise a let down. I appreciated our server warning us how carb heavy our meal was when we wanted to order another item. He was not only correct in his assessment but saved us money and embarrassment from not being able to finish had we ordered it. The restaurant used to house Moto, so it was weird sitting at a nicely set table where I used to sit on a bench eating my BLT in my swimsuit. The decor is very eclectic, artistic, and even their bathroom, it was a bit quaint. I emailed them to make a reservation, but it took a while to get a confirmation back. It wasn't until I got there that I noticed a Michelin recommendation plaque on their wall outside. The menu is not too extensive, so they do run out of items sometimes. At the time of my visit, they ran out of French toast! Maybe it's a popular item, so I guess you should try it if you can. I loved the panna cotta with seasonal fruits. The side of hangar steak is also pretty good but $16. Actually everything we ordered was pretty good but pricey. This is my 4th time enjoying brunch at Manna and it is did not disappoint. They opened reservations recently and I highly recommend making one if you're planning to come. We had a 9am reservation and there was already a large group of people waiting to get in at the entrance when we arrived. The tonics are a must when coming to Manna. The drinks are innovative and delicious and there is something for everyone. They are also beautifully presented which makes the drinks extra enjoyable. We got the Torrija toast and the Cilbir which tend to be the most popular food items on the menu for good reason. The torrija changes flavors. This was the yuzu cheesecake one and it was delicious and filling. Sweet but not overly sweet. The eggs were savory and delicious and perfectly poached. Admittedly, the food can take a while to come out. The kitchen is small and they make everything per order. I would not come here if you are pretty hungry or expecting a regular breakfast menu. We ordered the French Toast, ceviche, and Turkish eggs. The ceviche had good flavor and tasted fresh. So if you're looking for a classic breakfast -- this is not the spot. However? We had the Turkish eggs and the breakfast sandwich and both lived up to hype I've heard about this place. The sandwich was really good and packed with flavor, especially the garlic drip sauce that had in it and the Turkish eggs were fantastic and flavorful --- there's a reason it's their most popular dish! Overall -- food was fantastic! So, why the 4 stars and not 5? 1. They don't have an espresso machine, which means your breakfast is limited to drip coffee or cold brew. It's good, but for a place billing itself as a a more upscale spot -- seems like a miss. 2. Food comes out "when it's ready". Not a bad concept when at a dinner and there are lots of plates and apps on the table so everyone always has something. But for a breakfast spot where you typically order one thing, it can make it awkward. The Turkish eggs came out a full 10 minutes before the sandwich. Odd. 3. The price. I'm all about expensive meals, but for an $80 breakfast after tip, it's on the high side for sure. 4. There is a 3% additional charge to "offset fluctuating food costs and economic conditions,". To me, that's called the cost of doing business. Just add 3% to the prices on the menu and be done with it - this always grind my gears when restaurants do this. It's just sneaky, even when printed on the menu. The service, lastly, was great!! Friendly and really knowledgeable on the menu. So ...will I be back? We had a fantastic breakfast here for a friend's birthday. I'm glad we had a reservation because it fills fast at 9am when it opens. Seating is outside under a cover and they had heat lamps going to help with the morning chill. The servers were attentive and helpful. The Turkish eggs were fantastic -- tangy and rich with Prager Bros. bread to dip. The French toast was good, it was very sweet and almost like a bread pudding in the middle of a fat slice of bread. Excellent outdoor patio type of restaurant in Encinitas, serving a variety of brunch dishes that is more unique than the typical brunch fare you would find around the area. Reservations are strongly recommended, as they switched up from Toast waitlist to reservations, so when we walked in right at 9am, it was fine, but the host mentioned to make reservations online (requiring deposit for minimum spend - $50 for 2 people) shortly after as it was a full house even on a Wednesday. We got the Turkish eggs and Spanish French toast. The Turkish eggs were good but not impressive for the price, cooked perfectly runny, and chili oil on the side to accommodate my brother's nut allergy. It came with some toast. The Torrija (Spanish French toast) is massive. I'd say calories wise felt 4x more than the Turkish eggs, so this was a better value and a lot more unique and more aesthetic. It was a bit on the sweeter side but I enjoyed the filling inside and it was a delicate balance of crunchy and soft. We also got some mocktails - I got the maroon which was very refreshing and felt like I don't need a cocktail to enjoy a brunch. My brother got the Antigua which is a carbonated coffee drink. She loved it too but by the time she ordered, they no longer had that drink available bc they ran out T.T My husband absolutely loved the hamachi crudo. Wow! We visited here 3x during our vacation. The first visit we just wanted to take out some coffee and breakfest sandwich to take to the beach. The manager very nicely told us they don't do take out and gave us local recommendations for coffee (whatever forever) & bakery (prager brothers - which is where they get their baked goods/bread) and then proceeded to make us a reservation for the next day. We took both recommendations and they did not disappoint. Very impressed with how that was handled, bravo! So we went the next day and it was so so yummy, we made another reservation for the next day to try a few more menu items. We tried the lamb - cooked to perfection, Turkish eggs, ordered both times, once with added avocado and with steak, yogurt panna cotta and the pistachio bread pudding. Drip coffee and cold brew were excellent, best cold brew my hubs has ever had. Also shout out to the excellent service, which they recognized us from the previous day. Three of our serving plates had chips in them and the bread came with our meal had visible mold on it. I understand things can happen, but those are hard to overlook. Another issue is the layout. There is a restroom located just right next to the open kitchen, customers needing to use it, have to walk through and wait directly where the food is being prepared. It feels a bit awkward and not ideal for a place with such an elevated feel. Halibut crudo had a good portion of fish and was refreshing. Panna cotta was creamy and the guava tapioca was a nice touch. The star for me was the Turkish eggs, which were perfectly poached and the blend of the chili garlic butter and herbed yogurt was delicious. The bread was definitely needed to wipe the plate clean. I really hate to write this because I know this place is popular and it was hard to get a reservation in the first place, but this place was just not for me. The "health" juices were overly expensive--as was the rest of the food--and it just wasn't that good. I'd chalk it up to personal preference so make sure to check the menu and make sure it holds your interest because it didn't do it for me. read more

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Everything was really good, but I'm not sure if I would wait another two hours again. The line was really long but at the same time, it was nice because they tell you, if you're on the waitlist you WILL BE SERVED. So that was a pleasant surprise to know. It also seems more doable in the future because we can put ourselves on the waitlist and then go to a cafe or the beach and come back. Just come prepared that the wait is long and you'll be fine. Had a bit of a mixed experience. We had an 11AM reservation but weren't seated until after 11:35AM, which is pretty frustrating. Upon checking in, we were just told to wait and no updates were provided. That aside, the space itself is compact but thoughtfully designed, and once seated, service was decent. To drink, I had the black tea with milk. It was fairly ordinary and not particularly memorable. Food-wise, the Spanish-style French toast was massive and decadent, more of a bread pudding than French toast. While it was good, the garnish of poached pear and what seemed like whipped ricotta got lost against the volume of the bread. The Turkish eggs were great. Flavorful and nicely spiced thanks to their chili oil. The herbs could have been more finely chopped as they were a bit unwieldy to eat with the bread. read more

Stoked I finally got to try Atelier Manna! I've been wanting to come here forever but finally got around to it. I went for a late brunch on a Friday and the place was still packed. We had a noon reservation but got seated around 12:15/12:20. We started with a wellness shot which was good. For our food, we ordered the Turkish eggs, panna cotta and the famous Spanish French toast. We were lucky enough to get the last French toast, although I saw they snuck one out to Tony Hawk's table after us I have to say, while the French toast was tasty, it was my least favorite of the times we ordered. The Turkish eggs with shrimp were super epic and the bread that accompanied it was divine. The panna cotta was also a delicious surprise. Not something I would normally order but really glad I did. Overall, pricey and packed but the food is solid. Definitely go for the Turkish eggs! read more
