Kihei Shores Condo Board Members Association are a complete joke…read more This condo is over run with feral cats that urinate and spray on your front door. Managment will do NOTHING! Board Members are Bias STAY CLEAR FROM BUYING A CONDO IN THIS COMPLEX! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE they are a joke & You pay HIGH monthly dues for them to do nothing but let buildings rot & they will NOT accommodate disabled people there's no disabled parking. In addition J104 is a total cat hoarder cats climb in and out of her window all day and MANAGMENT wants to coddle her and bow to her needs and help her in committing FRAUD by saying these Feral cats are ESA animals when they are not. Save your money the HOA board here is so unprofessional and un-accommodating. But security is very helpful!

Beautiful complex that is tucked just steps from one of the best beaches in Kihei! We looked all…read moreover Maui to find the perfect complex. We shopped for over 9 months to find a unit that met our criteria! This one hit all the checkboxes such as a quiet complex, close proximity to the beach, on-site security and management, and a pool! The units are quite spacious and each one has two bathrooms! We ended up purchasing a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom unit, and we fell in love with the layout, natural light, and complex. The neighbors are all incredibly friendly too! While we were doing some renovations, we frequently had neighbors lend us tools or even offer to help! There are lots of young families and it feels very safe! We're a young couple who will be long-term renting our unit for a little while until we get our lives back home ready for a move to the island to be with extended family who live in Kihei. We can't wait! We are also quite impressed by the HOA management thus far! It's a new board with new management. Special shoutout to Kate for all of her wonderful work as the on-site manager! Thank you for all that you do! It's clear that this complex has made a real effort to invest in the buildings, landscaping, and community. They also no longer allow short-term rentals which makes it extra quiet! All of the old reviews from 2010-2018 really don't do the complex justice. It's dramatically different from what it was a long time ago! The new security guards are great! Shout out to Richard. He is friendly and takes real care in making sure people feel safe.

    Dakine Air Condition & Heating

Da Kine Air Conditioning…read more Pretty much useless for anything other than replacing air filters. There was some minor collection of water in a tray (the drain pan) located under the coil of my A/C, so I called Da Kine Air Conditioning. They sent Mel, and when he arrived I showed to him the metal plate in the ceiling of my unit that must be opened to access the central A/C. He refused to even open the access plate, saying: "I am not touching this sh&*t". He said that in his previous company, he had worked on an identical system, and they had been sued, so he refused to work on it again. I explained that the A/C was in perfect condition, blowing ice-cold air, and I pleaded with him to at least open the metal plate and take one look. He absolutely refused to even take one look at my A/C/ system, using several expletives to make his position crystal clear. I called Kathy in their office, and told her what happened. She called back later, explaining that my entire A/C system would need to be replaced (how would they know when they did not even take one look at my A/C?) and that only a big company would be able to do it. I asked someone who knows more than I do to look at it, and he said that I only needed to replace the drain pan, a couple of short pipes, and improve the insulation around these short pipes. I ordered a new drain pan and I called a couple other companies, including HVAC Maui. In stark contrast with Mel at Da Kine, Owen was very polite, respectful and competent. He went about replacing the drain pan and the pipes without any fuss, and completed the job without any issues. As expected, it was very straightforward, and any competent A/C specialist could have completed the job satisfactorily. If you need someone to replace the filter on an old window unit, and you are truly desperate to find an A/C contractor, maybe Da Kine can do the job ... or mess it up (after all, Mel's previous company was sued over work that he did). For anything else, look elsewhere. Calling HVAC Maui would be a good bet.

Initially things looked promising when I called to set up an appointment since the owner of the…read morecompany answered the phone and assured me they would be able to assist with installing a split system a/c in my 2 storey home. She was professional and friendly and I felt positive about the company. Unfortunately, the owner's assurance fell flat as Kathy in the office and the tech let her down. We made 2 appointments and neither were honored. To begin with the last minute excuse used was it "is raining" which was odd as it wasn't in Lahaina where I live, and we had other companies come out to bid after this when it actually was raining (they said it was better as they would be able to see where to avoid water build up around the house). Second excuse when Dakine didn't turn up was "they were too busy", so why make an appointment they know they aren't going to honor? There was no attempt to rebook, and no interest in keeping our business. If a company is not interested in a job they should be up front and honest. Also if this is their attitude towards installing, what is their attitude towards repair going to be like?

Maui Vista Condominium - Bedbugs bites

    Maui Vista Condominium

I stayed at Maui Vista, Building 1, unit 1205, and this was the worst experience I've ever had with…read morea rental property. Everything looked fine when I checked in, but after my first night I woke up with my entire back covered in painful, swollen bites. I had never experienced bed bugs before, so at first I didn't understand what was happening. The second night, I slept in the living room with different pillows, hoping it was just an allergy. Instead, I woke up in the middle of the night from intense burning and pain. The bites spread to my arms, legs, face, stomach, hands -- everywhere. The swelling and irritation were severe and extremely painful. I could not sleep at all. I messaged the owners immediately in the middle of the night telling them I couldn't stay there anymore. They only replied the next morning asking for "proof." I sent photos showing my skin covered in huge swollen red bites, but they answered very slowly and didn't offer any help. They told me they had no other unit to move me to and offered only a refund for the remaining days. Considering the state I was in, this was unacceptable. They didn't truly take me seriously until Pest Control arrived. When the Pest Control workers saw my skin, they were visibly shocked, and they confirmed bed bugs in the bed. Only after their confirmation did the owners agree to issue a full refund. Despite how severe my situation was, there was no apology, no sympathy, no support, not even a phone call. Instead, they told me that I had to leave immediately and that I would only receive the refund once I checked out. I explained that I needed time to wash my belongings so I wouldn't take their bed bugs with me. I had to throw away multiple personal items and urgently book another place to stay. The following days of my trip were ruined. I spent 5-6 days treating painful, swollen bites that made it almost impossible to sleep. What was supposed to be my long-awaited vacation turned into stress, pain, and unexpected expenses -- all because of an infestation that clearly didn't start overnight. The number of bites I received makes it obvious that this issue was ongoing for a long time and not properly addressed. Bed bugs do not appear in such quantities in just a day or two. This tells me the unit hadn't been properly cleaned or treated for months. If you don't want your vacation ruined, your body covered in painful bites, and your health and belongings put at risk, avoid this unit and be extremely careful with this property. The way the owners handled (or rather ignored) the situation was completely unacceptable.
