We stayed at a vacation rental run by Kokua Realty and it was absolutely awful. The only good thing…read moreabout this place was the location of the property. But everything else was terrible. 1. They changed our check in time without informing us in advance. The original booking stated that check-in was at 3 pm. Sometime between when we booked and paid for this reservation, Kokua Realty deactivated the listing and started a new one. The new listing had a later check in time. When we arrived to Maui, we tried contacting Kokua Realty and no one responded until night time. We ended up wasting time and frozen groceries. 2. Giant cockroaches in the laundry room. 3. The microwave didn't work and half the outlets in the house didn't work. No one came to fix this issue until our second night. Then, by the next morning, the microwave was broken again. 4. The refrigerator and freezer were cycling on and off and we didn't realize this until it was too late. We ended up with more spoiled food and a few people with food poisoning. 5. Poor communication. You can see in the photos I attached that Kokua Realty NEVER responded to any of our inquiries or issues. l even called every number on the listing several times and left voicemails with no returned calls. 6. We were unable to refer to our original reservation because they "deactivated" the reservation. So we had a hard time checking to see what amenities were in the house including iron/ironing board, towels, etc. When we tried to ask them, no one responded. I brought all these issues up to their attention during and after our stay with no response. I requested a partial refund through AirBnB, still no response from Kokua Realty. Overall, DO NOT RENT A VACATION RENTAL FROM KOKUA REALTY. You will end up wasting your money and ruining your vacation.

The day after booking and paying for this property we get an email from Patricia requesting another almost $500 or she will cancel our booking! We contact VRBO who tells us not to pay because she has a legally binding contract with us for the price that we paid since we had already paid. They say they are contacting her and everything will be worked out. Well four days later Patricia cancels our rental now we are searching for another rental with even slimmer pickings in Maui for Christmas. After reading other reviews I'm so glad we aren't staying in anything under her management. She is running a scam trying to get more money after entering a contact with paid customers.

The transaction was handled professionally and calmly with attention to detail, and our house sold in a very short period of time in the current market, just over three months. We chose the Maui Real Estate Team because we had bought our house through Billy when we came to Maui in 2005, and we found him to be a good fit for us with his calmness, honesty, helpful attitude, and his knowledge of Maui. At that time, he listened carefully and showed us just the homes (only two) that he thought could work for us after carefully listening to our wants and asking lots of questions. Billy was able to guide us to the house (a two acre property in Huelo) that had exactly what we were looking for, with the quiet, the acreage and the feel that we sought. That transaction had some moments of trepidation when we and the owners could not agree on important details and we were afraid of the deal falling through, but Billy was steady and encouraging and we were able to come to a good agreement that suited both parties. When it came time for us to sell the house it was clear to us whom we wanted to represent us, and again Billy listened to our concerns, gave practical suggestions on pricing and marketing, indicated realistic expectations on how homes were selling in the slow housing market, and offered his understanding and empathy. He listened to our needs and he offered strategies based on these, then did all he could to assure that the house was noticed by buyers. We researched and interviewed rental agencies and Matt and Tonya were by far the most professional and transparent agency on the island. They are very prompt to respond and their entire staff are professional and courteous to all of our vacation rental guests. Within just eight weeks, their agency managed to book our unit to near sold out status all the way into September 2019. That's nine months of sold out reservations. We couldn't be happier with them and HIGHLY recommend their services. Other agencies don't even compare.

The location was awesome and the property was newly renovated as well as sparkling clean. But that wasn't what we were most pleased with. We had an issue with our wifi and our initial email was responded to within minutes and every email after that was responded within a minute. I was shocked by the quick response time! Soon enough, he made his way out to the property and started to fix the issue for us. He escalated the issue with the service provider and did all he could and more for us.
