The hotel staff itself and the management are horrible to deal with- We were there for my nephews wedding and were so disappointed to hear how they were treated . Sitting talking to family about how different everyone's hotel rate was. We all booked for the same wedding at the same time and got completely different rates. The bride and groom got charged 3 times as much and had the worst room over looking the parking lot. The management never came out to see what they could do for them. Shame on the owners for having such a poor staff that couldn't handle a wedding party of our size. Needless to say we would not recommend this place nor stay there ever again. read more

LOVE The Ruby Hotel but The Ruby Bar needs a serious staff change. I've stayed at the hotel twice and visited the bar three times. Every visit to the bar or dealing with the bar is the same - they seem completely annoyed by every word you say. On our most recent stay we called the bar at 7pm to order food and drinks knowing that the bar closed in one hour. The employe who answered seemed aggravated from the start. I said we would like to place an order, he said"well you know we close soon?!" I asked what time. He replied "8:00." I said "So in one hour?" "Yes. We're you told that our menu is small bc of covid?" Which we had not been told and the room menus were the same even tho we were in month 10 of the pandemic. But it was obvious he did not want us to place an order. We obliged. Both previous experiences were similar. It's such a shame bc it really puts a damper on what is otherwise such a lovely experience. The rooms are unique and high end. It feels far more Austin than suburbia. The views of the Brushy Creek are great! The linens are wonderful. The bathroom is large and well appointed. The decor is fun and hip. We were frustrated that we couldn't lower the thermostat below 70. Ultimately we slept with the patio door open. It was cold so we couldn't enjoy the pool but I'd love to stay again an use the pool. In the future we will know to bring the food and drink we like and avoid the bar/restaurant altogether. Shame bc it's a lovely space. As a RR resident I'd love to hang out there but I don't want to pay someone to treat me like an inconvenience. read more

HORRIBLE STAY!!! We killed 5 giant cockroaches in our room. FIVE!!!! We tried to call the front desk. No answer. Then my husband saw they close at 10pm. (We were told the next day that was old info on the website, but we were still unable to reach someone that night around 2 when we returned to our room) Pulled back the sheets to find OLD CONTACT LENSES!!!! We don't wear contacts. Meaning the sheets weren't changed. Disgusting. We couldn't get ahold of the desk. It was 2 am. So we went to my mother in law's and let someone know first thing in the morning. They said a manager would call. 28 hours later no call. So I called the front desk. I found this hotel on instagram and they happened to be running a summer savings promotion right at the time I needed a room for one night. Their online booking process was quick and easy, keeping in contact via email and texting. They offer check-in via text if you arrive after their front desk closes. My husband and I arrived at the Ruby an hour after check-in time. It is nestled in the back of a quiet neighborhood along a creek. There are beautiful, sprawling oak trees all over the property. Check-in took a little longer than expected, about 15 minutes, due to someone arriving before me who had not booked in advance and it seemed they had a bit of technical difficulties. That is truly the only "negative" thing I have to say about The Ruby. We had a 2nd story creek view King room in building A. The mid-century modern decor is stunning. The small decorative details were charming and the dark teal blue walls and accents were inviting and relaxing. The bathroom is large, as is the shower. The toiletries provided by Lather were essential oil based and were very refreshing. It was a little too hot during our stay to truly enjoy the patio but it was nice to keep the curtains open to enjoy the view while still having privacy. The bed was comfortable, everything was fresh and clean, the AC blew ice cold, and the selection of channels on the tv were great. We also visited the bar, which felt like a flashback to a Mad Men era lounge. It is fully stocked and their cocktail menu was excellent. Everything I had was perfectly mixed and tasted great. The bartenders were friendly and talkative. They also served breakfast in the bar during the morning, which was pretty basic. Coffee, cereal, toast, muffins and juice. I regret not bringing a swimsuit for the pool, it looked very inviting. We only stayed here one night due to pre-booking an AirBnB with some friends for the remainder of our trip. The ABnB turned out to be a disaster and at 10pm I texted The Ruby text number to see if they had availability. Unfortunately they did not, due to a wedding. However, they were very quick to respond via text and despite not having a room for us, I was very happy with the correspondence. This has become our favorite place in the Austin area and plan to stay at The Ruby when we return in a couple of months. read more

This place is divine. It's in a quiet shady spot next to Brushy Creek, close to downtown, with a small bar and restaurant. We had a king suite overlooking the creek and it was wonderful. The room is beautifully decorated and the bathroom was amazing with the perfect shower. Thick blackout curtains that make you feel like you are cocooned in your own quiet little bubble. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. If you are looking for a quiet place to hide away for a couple of days then this is definitely the spot. I can not recommend this place enough. read more

If you want to stay at a place where it's ran horribly and you want to get price gouged you picked the perfect place! We were celebrating my sons Wedding weekend and we had our rehearsal dinner there as well. Their prices are all over the board!!! We had guests paying from $99 to over $500 a night! The bride & groom were the one's paying the most! Here we had almost 30 of their 39 rooms and they didn't have the decency to at least discount their room! Basically the manager said "it is what it is"! To me that is the absolute biggest insult from an industry that should be all about customer satisfaction!!! I've been coming to the ruby now for 3+ years and they never disappoint! The bar staff is amazing, the drinks give me New York City vibes, the food is tasty and the views are the best! This place is a true gem. Beautifully unique, all rooms come with a water view. Well thought-out decor, sleek and updated amenities, but the entire hotel has a vintage vibe. I did not get to experience the bar or pool because it was not opened yet. But the customer service was on point-- I was walked to my room, and they stocked the fridge with breakfast items and refreshing drinks. Everything is brand new, not a pin out of place. Just spent 4 nights at the Ruby and very much enjoyed it. Loved the grounds and the fact that there was a bar onsite so I could take a beer up to my balcony and watch the birds come in for the night. The 2nd story river view room was quiet and had an excellent view of the river. Easy to walk to the downtown area to grab dinner or hang out with friends at a local spot. I usually stay in downtown Austin but will definitely stay at the Ruby again in the future. My husband and I stayed at The Ruby for a week while visiting family in Round Rock. The location was convenient, and the hotel feels really intimate and relaxed. Our room was so comfortable and pretty, and starting our days with coffee on the porch overlooking the creek was divine. Just what we needed to really take a break from our everyday lives! The second morning we woke up at The Ruby, I made a cup of coffee, went out on the porch, sat down, and realized that I hadn't even thought about my phone, and it was still plugged in next to the bed. I left it there and enjoyed my morning moments looking at the creek instead. We enjoyed an evening at The Ruby Bar as well - The food and drinks were delicious, and we were pleased to be surprised by live music. We appreciated the outdoor seating and that the staff was masked, too. On our last full day we enjoyed room service breakfast, and I was truly in heaven. (Although, I would have loved some extra blueberry syrup with the yellow corn pancakes.) We did remote check-in and check-out (such a breeze!), but when we did interact with people at The Ruby, everyone was friendly and welcoming. We loved our stay and hope to return next time we visit Round Rock. read more

The Ruby Hotel is a fabulous, small boutique style hotel. The rooms are unlike any other place I have stayed with wonderful bedding, large bathrooms (amazingly deep soaking tubs) and many rooms with balconies. It is set in a quiet neighborhood about 3/4 mile off I-35, yet you hear no traffic noise. If you are like me and don't want to bother getting out once you have settled into your room, no need to worry about dinner. The bar has great food options and is beautiful and comfortable inside. I travel with my service dog and often sit outside under the covered patio for dinner. The staff at The Ruby is so kind...just all around friendly and helpful. I stay here every time I travel from Oklahoma to south Texas. Lately I have found myself looking for an excuse to travel just so I can stay at The Ruby! At the well stocked bar, Brian & Austin provided excellent service, conversation and charcuterie. This is based on service from the bartender. No acknowledgement for 20 minutes twice during a comedy show. I gave up the 1st time to go see my friend perform He's cussing under his breath about being busy. Understandable, but genuinely every patron was being more than patient. I watched the bartender sit down with guests while people were waiting at the bar-how is this appropriate in a hotel bar? He was telling his rail his life stories and ignoring the new crowd that pushed up Management-make sure you have 2 bartenders on comedy night or get one that can handle volume because this guy cannot. A fun, intimate boutique hotel. I booked an anniversary weekend for my wife and I (being Military, this is the first anniversary in four years we've been together). The decor is a fun vintage that is homely but not outdated. We purchased the romance package and were welcomed with rose petals and chilled champagne in our room when we arrived. The bar had live music on Friday night (we would have gone down to the bar to listen in-person but, being our anniversary, we opted to stay in). We had brunch at the bar on Saturday morning. The staff was wonderfully attentive, helpful, and cheerful. I had the Huevos Divorciados and my wife had the vegetarian omelette - both delicious! The bar is set like a comfortable living room with intimate small group seating, games, and a decent outdoor deck. The best part is the way the hotel staff interacts with you. Upon reservation, you receive a text with communication options, and you have a "choose-your-own-adventure" option. You can go from check in to check out without interaction (AirBnB-style), if you like. We prefer in-person check-in, and were met with a cheerful hostess who gave us all the info we needed. The staff sends courtesy texts and reminders for room servicing/cleaning preferences, check out procedures, and the like. Their text service is monitored and responds via text incredibly quickly. I was chatting with the staff constantly and felt wonderfully looked after. Would definitely recommend the Ruby (both Hotel and Bar) to anyone in CENTEX! read more

I had high hopes for this little hotel, but for sure didn't meet my expectations. My room had awful smell to it and wasn't up to par with cleanliness asked for new room and was told none available. The air conditioner didn't cool well air unit stated filter needed to be changed so I assume maybe that was an issue. Linens were stained. Balcony in my unit was easily accessible if anyone wanted to jump it and get inside my room, so didn't feel safe. I asked for a noon checkout and was told I could get it for $50 additional charge after the room was more expensive than most in area. Next door is a construction site, guys peeing outside in view from my balcony and load. At night it was dark when I walked to my room and felt uneasy about walking to my room. Will never stay here again. Giving it one star just for the creek view. Kyle at front desk wasn't able to give me a new room until due to it not being clean and also due to smell and balcony being accessible to anyone that wanted to get on it and through sliding glass door if wanted, also is the one that said $50 extra for 12:00 pm checkout instead of 11:00 am. read more

This is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in my life. The rooms are dressed in a modern retro feel, balcony for a morning coffee or evening drink with a beautiful view. The bar is dressed in the same attire and the drinks are made like they should be. When I think of an Old Fashioned, a Manhattan, and a Whiskey Sour, I will crave the Ruby's take on these drinks until my return. The Bar staff Natalie, Brian, and Sophia welcome you in just like if you were Norm from Cheers, truly had a wonderful time talking with them and the rest of the patrons. Last but not least, Kyle in the front office has been tremendously helpful with the weeks leading up to my visit here and welcomed me in like I was a family member coming to stay for a holiday. You can feel the genuine love they give here. Reasons for low rating: 1. Reservation problems. 2. Lack of customer service skills. 3. Bugs in the room. My wife and I stayed here the night of our wedding in March 2022. We visited the property in July 2021 and then booked online. In January 2022, we went back to the property to discuss our expected late-night check-in. We paid for the room and they did some sort of pre-check-in and said we would get a text the day before giving more information to get into the room. The night of our wedding, we go up to our room and realize that we were given a Double Queen Room, even though we reserved and paid for a King Room. My wife walked back down to the office to inform them they gave us the wrong room and they were hardly apologetic. They said sorry we're booked and there's nothing we can do and they would refund us the difference of the room cost. I then walked down there (still in my wedding dress) to talk with them. I let them know how unacceptable this was, especially since we had visited the property, in person, 2 times and paid months in advance. This was our wedding night and it seemed they couldn't care less. Finally, after several minutes, they said "I guess we will put you in the King Suite Room." Then went on to say, "this room is valued at a higher rate than the one you reserved, but we won't charge for the upgrade." THE AUDACITY!! To attempt to make it seem like they were doing us a favor by giving us this upgraded room, even though the only reason we're in this predicament is because y'all messed up our reservation. This King room should have been offered to us immediately when my wife walked down there the first time to complain that our room was wrong. But instead, it took both of us walking down there to complain before they felt any obligation to try to make this mistake better for us. Another issue was ANTS. There were many ants in the closet and on the robes. They were on the floor and one even bit my wife while we were laying in bed. Other than these issues, the room was very nice. The décor and vibe of the place is exactly what we knew it would be. However, due to this major screw up with the reservation and the way we were treated by the staff, I will definitely never return and will strongly urge others to seek accommodations elsewhere. read more

I am so disappointed in this hotel and I had high hopes. I had recommended a large group of out of town guests to stay here for our wedding. These were guests that had never experienced the area and we wanted them to enjoy the peace of Round Rock. Unfortunately, one of the evenings that our guests were staying there, they were woken up at 2 in the morning to someone banging on their hotel room door. When they went to complain and share this with management, nothing was done. In fact, they attempted to question if it was someone that was staying there from our wedding causing the disruption. Completely inappropriate and not at all accurate as it was an older group staying there. There was no resolution or any form of compensation for their lack of sleep and their concern from someone aggressively banging on their door. I will no longer recommend this hotel and hope they take this as a learning opportunity. Do better and recognize you just lost a large customer base as we had rented out 7 rooms that weekend. read more

The Ruby has many features to love, but none more enjoyable than the views of Brushy Creek from the rooms along its banks. The rooms are well decorated and the furniture is both clever and functional. The staff is courteous and helpful. Yet, the obvious short cuts in building construction and amenities, likely due to overcoming high real estate costs, leave much to be desired. The cheap shampoo dispenser nozzles came out frequently. While an extremely minor detail, I would expect more for the price I paid. The comforter was noticeably thin, which made sleeping uncomfortable without turning the thermostat up to 80. Further, the complimentary breakfast provided seemed to be thrown together, almost an afterthought. I've had better at the Holiday Inn Express. Finally, and most annoyingly, the buffer between the walls and the floor/ceiling is thin enough to hear people talking in the next room and people traipsing around upstairs all night. I ended up leaving at 2 am just to get some sleep. Ultimately, I would stay again only if I was upstairs in an end unit equipped with extra blankets. read more
