I have not been back here in quite a few years due to the food being just so-so. A friend wanted to go so we went for dinner. Based on what I tried it was okay, nothing spectacular food wise not still good. What is really good about this place is the view and I think that is what keeps people coming back! My friend had the following and enjoyed them all: The French onion soup (looked and smelled delicious) the crab cakes and a Cesar salad. I had the special of the day which was a cod with pesto and tomatoes and spinach over orzo. It was prepared very well.

My fiancé and I went on our 5 year anniversary dinner there. We are from VA and come to Sackets every year when we go out for a night of wining and dining while visiting my cottage in Dexter. Our server was great and I am sorry I can remember his name. He was tall, athletic build, light brown hair. He started us off with 2 lemon drop shots from the bar that were great. It started to rain so we had to come into the bar and even though he was busy, he didn't miss a beat with our meals or the experience. My fiancé had the shrimp pasta and I had the butchers cut special. Everything was delicious. Thank you for a nice meal and a fun time for our anniversary. See you next year!

The ambience of this casual dock dining location is relaxing and peaceful. With a cold beer in hand, it doesn't get much better than this! Beautiful sailboats, cool gentle breeze and female mallards swimming add to the experience. I started with the Floating Island soup. This is a classic French Onion soup with a "floating island" of a crostini, topped with melted provolone, Swiss, and Parmesan cheeses. My favorite of the meal. Additionally, I had the Vermont Salad - a mix of greens, berries, candied walnuts, grated carrots, red onions, crumbled goat cheese and finished with a berry vinaigrette. The salad greens were not fresh, and the salad was disappointing. A+ venue, food C+ = 4 stars

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. Definitely worth a return visit if you're passing through Kingston.

They have a private party room downstairs which is also where the restrooms are located so the restaurant isn't really accessible. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. This can be expensive as most dishes are in the 20 dollar range. The steak with chimichurri sauce was excellent!!! But was also $44.00 for about 13 small slices. We also ordered a Thai green curry cod that comes with cashews infused in the sauce. We had a nut allergy at the table so they were able to remove the cashews to make the dish nut free. Service was decent but this is a dining environment where you are not rushed out the door. Dishes come out sporadically so you are meant for slow dining. This is a good place to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want something different while in Kingston.
