So I tend to be a bit skeptical about things like this. But, I am always down to try something new. I convinced one of my friends to do this with me, who was also skeptical but we kept an open mind. When we arrived it was kind of hectic. Scott was in one of the caves setting up for our groups there were several people already waiting and the yoga class had just let out so it was a whole lot of folks in a tiny room. This as an introvert is one of my bigger discomforts in life. To say that I was not relaxed going in would be an understatement. We followed our group of 4 other strangers into the basement and they suggested we grab blankets so we did. When we walked into the cave everything changed. It instantly felt, tasted, and smelled like the beach. There's 6 chairs laid out for you to choose from and salt on the floor. The walls are lit with beautiful oranges. There is ocean sounds playing over the speaker. Scott came in and gave us his speech. He said "this will be what you make it." That was 100% true. I meditate daily but usually it takes me quite a while to get into it. Not here. I sat in the corner and was able to get into a deep meditation quickly. When I finished I popped back up on the beach chairs and dreamed of the ocean. All around I would definitely recommend this to a friend and definitely do this again when I'm needing a beach fix. read more

I went to the Salt Cave for my birthday and was excited to try it out. I didn't really know what to expect besides what I read about the reviews and what they had on their website. My husband and I arrived for a session checked in at the front desk and the guy was completely rude. No welcome or instruction, just told us what our total would be. We had the option to wait and pay after our session to see if we would want to purchase more than one. I figured the guy was being unpleasant at the front desk because we were the last session that day and he was just tired. I was wrong he was just plain rude. After we were all checked in I excitedly asked the guy if were could go down to the salt room? In front of everyone in the seating area he yells out "oh my gosh, wait a moment, you have to wait for the next people!" so uncalled for. He knew that it was my first time there and I had no idea that there was only one room and that we were supposed to enter as a group. I wanted to leave right then and there because but my husband talked me into staying. When it was finally time to go down to the salt room. I had my ipod with me, not knowing that it was frowned upon to bring in the salt room. Instead of politely informing me that they prefer for us to not bring electronics down to the room again, he yells at me like a child in front of the whole group. He kept asking me why I need to bring my ipod with me and wanted to know exactly what music I was going to be listening too. I couldn't believe how big of a jerk this guy was. I was new to the Salt Cave, wan't familiar with process and etiquette but in the end the guy could've done a much better job at explaining all of this to me without being condescending. For a place that is supposed to be inviting, relaxing, and tranquil it was the complete opposite. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's refreshing to see that I am not the only one who experienced poor customer service. I will not be back! read more

What an amazing experience!!! Was so good to have such a healing and spiritual experience. The owner was super nice, the space comfortable and clean and the package prices are a great deal. i took a mental health day on 11/19/19. i really needed it and have been eyeing the salt cave since i moved back to minneapolis. it was my first time there and let's just say i had a fantastic experience. i ended up being the only one scheduled at that time given it was a tuesday. because of that, i had the entire cave to myself downstairs which made it an even better experience. the lady upfront told me that taking my socks off and getting the sand on my feet/body would be more enhancing as well as getting close to the salt that comes out from the inside of the cave (as i was sitting opposite of that). the ocean music that was played was perfect as well as the temperature. i mean who wouldn't want to be sitting in a 80-90 degree room during this 35-40 degree weather outside? it was like sitting on the beach and hearing the waves crash. i would have loved to sit in there longer with it being so peaceful but my time ran out and yes, i did fall asleep. it always takes me over an hour to sleep but i was out within 5 min. the lady did tell me to take some deep breaths and meditate while in the cave and the website did suggest doing some breathing exercises before coming in. the darker clothes you have on, the more you can see the salt on your clothes but i wasn't too worried about that. it was just a quick brush. after my session, i spoke with the lady working that day. she was very pleasant and zen like. i enjoyed talking to her and can really tell she loves her job (she told me she enjoys working there also). i plan on coming back and buying the package and the salt lamp as well as recommending it to all my family and friends! read more

I've visited the Salt Caves in Minneapolis twice. Once was for a yoga class, the next time I just relaxed in their comfy lounge chair and soaked up the salt air. In both cases, I felt my lungs and sinuses opening up. During a Minnesota winter, congestion is a constant condition. It feels great to open up my respiratory system. Three friends have joined me and they raved about the Salt Caves too! You should definitely try it! read more

Super interesting. I had just recently heard about the benefits of salt therapy and signed up for a meditation night with a friend. I wasn't sure what to expect but we all went into the cave and had the option to sit in a chair or lie down in the salt. Most of the group chose to lie in the salt. It was incredibly relaxing and the time flew by. On this particular night, there was a sound bowl and they gave out crystals, though I don't think this is typical. I can see why people go here - great for health and improving the immune system. It's also incredibly relaxing. While I still think $30 to lie in salt for 45ish minutes is a little spendy, it's still cheaper than a massage and gives some great benefits. I would go back! This could be a fun date night. One thing to know before going is to dress comfortably and you will get a light coating of salt dust on you which is noticeable if you are wearing dark clothes. read more

Good first experience at The Salt Cave. Very easy online booking, got in same day. I signed up for the kids session, my 2 kids and myself have been run down with colds and ear infections and I had read that salt therapy can help. We arrived a bit late (as we usually do with 2 slow moving kiddos) but, the owner was more than accommodating and even let us stay a few extra mins. They had fun playing in the salt and I got a bit of relaxation. I count that as a win! I only wish it was a bit more affordable. read more

I was looking for allergy support for my 7 year old son. I read an article that said children were welcome. When I contacted the owner he asked if my son could sit quietly for 45 min. as a session can seat up to 6 people. Asking a 7 year old not to talk for 45 min. Is ridiculous! He said we could come in and he would "make it work". We bought a package of 6 and for 3 weeks would drive from Golden Valley on a Friday for a 4:00 appt. We would read books and it was either a private or other kids were there. On our 4 th visit we arrived for our regular appt. and the owner feigned surprise that we were there?! It was obvious that he had replaced us with a big group and some were even getting massages. Once again he said, "can he sit quietly?", and once again I had to explain it wasn't fair to him. My son couldn't understand why he wasn't able to attend his own appt. and I had a hard time explaining the situation. The owner was rude and defensive but not apologetic. When I got home I called to say we will be cashing in the rest of our pass and to please mail us our balance. He wasn't "comfortable sending money in the mail". I told him to send a check like all businesses routinely do. He wasn't comfortable with that either! So, to add insult to injury, my husband had to take the time to go down to the Salt Cave to retrieve our $60.00. I will be surprised if this man is able to stay in business having seen how he treats his customers. read more

I went after seeing a Living Social deal, and think that discounted price seems more reasonable for a 45 minute experience. I was also able to purchase bath salts and a salt lamp. read more

Been there a few times, I agree with the reviews about customer service, which is why I decided not to use them. So I bought my own salt lamps at Walmart and other stores for about 20.00. Don't really care what kind of Himalayan salt they are. I got a Ceramic Himalayan Salt inhaler off internet, and I see zero gravity chairs at Big Lots for 30.00, and I have my own ocean sounds I can listen to on headset. I'll save my money and go cruising. For the money each pays, he didn't seem interested when I l(2 occasions) let him know of some sound issues, and when the salt machine was not working, he just sort of stared at me indifferently. He didn't apologize, nor admit to being concerned. The last time, I'm sure the salt wasn't blowing since I know the sound when it comes on and goes off. And I didn't get any salt that I was very well used to. I was afraid to discuss it further with him after the blank stares, and plus I am well aware that he would not be offering me a make up session. I have asked questions before about things or guidelines there where I got blank stares more so than a welcoming customer satisfaction type of spa or healing experience. He is pretty good at his relax talk before he starts the room up. He could integrate that type of talk into his reactions to customer comments or complaints and then I think he'd give a better experience. And if a customer says something isn't working right, maybe he should answer with a "I'm sorry, I will go down and check it now". Or,"I will check on it and make sure you get a make up session for that." On the up side, If you ignore the customer service, and everything mechanically happens to be working well for what you paid for that day, then you will likely have a good experience. read more
