Salt therapy itself is phenomenal. We have used The Salt Retreat for over three years for our kids and for ourselves as a natural way to support sinus health, colds, and overall wellness. The treatment works. We believe in it and have referred many families over the years because of that. The issue is not the therapy. It is the ownership experience. James' demeanor, tone, and communication style are consistently passive aggressive and customer unfriendly. As long term paying members, we were repeatedly policed about start times, end times, and minor cleanup expectations in a way that felt adversarial rather than service oriented. To be clear, we never objected to following posted guidelines. We understand there are rules in a children's salt room. With an 18 month old and a four year old, some salt occasionally ends up outside the sandbox area. That is simply reality. If the business needs to charge a small cleaning fee when that happens, that is completely reasonable. We would gladly pay it. What is not reasonable is being treated like a problem instead of a customer. On more than one occasion, feedback was delivered through body language, abrupt door handling, and indirect comments, including waiting until I stepped out to address concerns with my 37 week pregnant wife. There was also a direct comparison that "this doesn't happen when the nanny comes," which felt personal and unnecessary. This was never about refusing to follow policies. It was about professionalism and basic respect. We have referred multiple families over the years who have independently shared similar feedback about James' tone and demeanor. His wife has always been warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, James' presence creates a very different experience. If you are considering The Salt Retreat, know that the therapy itself is excellent. Went in for the first time and loved it! It was a very relaxing experience and the staff (owners) are very nice! I have allergies/sinus issues and I could tell a difference with the first session. The group room had 4 chairs in it, they were reclining and also heated which was awesome. I would recommend bringing a small blanket or a jacket with you, it is a little chilly in the room. I had a great experience at the Salt Retreat. I had never been before and received a call prior advising me to come 10 minutes early for my first time and to bring clean socks! The salt therapy session was SO relaxing. I brought a book and I was provided with a book light, which was so nice! I booked a 40 minute children's session and added my 2nd kid when I got there because they both had lingering coughs. They played in the salt and breathed the fine salt powder that comes through a small square in the wall. One of the kids didn't cough once while she was in the room. The Salt Retreat is a little slice of holistic heaven in West Frisco! As a lifelong allergy sufferer with occasional asthma flare-ups, I am so glad I found this place! I've been four times so far and experienced relief after each session. I have felt noticeably better and breathe a little bit easier after each session. I also find that I am sleeping better at night. Dry salt therapy is not an instant cure-all, of course, but I do think it is a wonderful, holistic complement to other treatment I get through my regular doctor (allergy shots, medication, etc.) My goal is to phase off of some of the traditional drugs in the long run. The group room is very relaxing, with heated, zero-gravity armchairs, soft music and dimmed lights. I almost always fall asleep for the whole session, because it's so relaxing! Last but not least, the owners Heather and James are the nicest people you'll ever meet. They are knowledgeable, welcoming and never pushy about their products or services. Highly recommend this for allergy sufferers and people w breathing issues. I have asthma and allergies and I typically go to salt therapy three times a week. It makes a huge difference in wheezing and the ease of breathing. I've noticed I don't take my asthma medication or daily allergy pills anymore. The retreat is beautiful. When you arrive you are greeted by James or Heather who take you to a group room or private room. In the rooms are nice leather recliners to kick up your feet and relax. I have even fallen asleep a few times. Group room takes 40 mins. Private room takes 20 mins. Inhale and breathe as normal. The fine mist of salt you are breathing in will make your breathing so much easier. This will sound weird but my lungs feel cleaner bc I can breathe so much better. Check it out! Wow! This is a true Frisco gem! If you are the least bit interested in healing naturally, you will love this place! The owners are incredibly professional, caring and knowledgeable! The eastheics make you feel at ease and relaxed from the moment you walk in. Halotherapy is helpful for so many conditions, I recently referred my mom as she suffers with chronic bronchitis and while I was trying it out, it really helped a skin issue I had on my foot! I'm fairly new to halotherapy. The Salt Retreat was only the second halotherapy place I've tried. After my first time experiencing halotherapy, I fell in love with it! It's so relaxing and it helps to open up my airways. My first visit to The Salt Retreat did not disappoint! It was different from the first salt cave that I visited. This was definitely a retreat. When I went, I had just gotten over bronchitis and was beginning to have sinusitis. By the end of the week after my session, the sinusitis mostly cleared up. I discovered The Salt Retreat by a friend who knows I've suffered from an autoimmune disease which impedes my breathing capacity. She got me to go on her free pass, being a member. I've been going for a month now, saw my doctor last week who joked there's no reason to listen to my lungs since I move air so poorly. I told him this time would be different, & he couldn't believe the difference. He asked what I'd been doing, I told him about this place and how much I felt it improved my breathing. I highly recommend. I have horrible allergies all year round and have to take Zyrtec daily and allergy shots monthly. I have been wanting to wean from both. After my very first session I felt immediate relief that lasted. I now go a few times each week and it is such a relaxing and enjoyable experience every time. I had tried and gifted some of the products from The Salt Retreat and they are wonderful! The thing that I hadn't tried was the Salt Therapy. Right before Christmas I found myself suffering from crazy allergies. Having tried all the "meds" nothing was helping. I called up James, one of the owners, and asked if he could squeeze me into a session. He did and WOW!! What a difference 30 mins made. I reclined in a super comfy chair and relaxed in a dimly lit room as medical grade super fine Salt was "pumped" into the room. The 30 mins went by so quickly and when I got out my sinuses were open and I was breathing again! (This is not a medical endorsement just a personal anecdote.) This is a true 5-star salt facility. I've been to several salt caves/rooms and this one is at the top of the list. The space is inviting, beautiful, luxurious, well decorated, and clean.
