This is a cute little shop and the employees are very friendly and helpful. I stopped in to pick up a few souvenirs as gifts and the selection was pretty varied and the girl who was working was as sweet as she could be. Prices were reasonable and the items I bought were local (Savannah/Pooler). I would highly recommend as the items they sell make great gifts or fun souvenirs that you will be able to put to good use at home. *Also, they do sell more than just salts - don't be confused by the name. Fine spice shop with tons to chose from and everything available for tasting. They have little cups in which you can sprinkle some of the spices into- much more hygienic then some other places I've found with just large open containers. The staff is friendly and available for information. The premise of the business has an adorable story (a couple who had a restaurant, decided on valentine's day to explore a new business.) Also they carry a variety of infused sugars, barbecue and rib rubs, dip mixes, herbed oils, teas, popcorn and wine. It's a fun place to just peruse. I especially like the Himalayan salt tablets that could be used for serving sushi or salting dishes. Very interesting and very pretty. Make sure you get a small container of Himalayan salt to go- for your purse for only a dollar. read more

I didn't realize there was an entire store dedicated to salt. Really it's a spice store. I went in with my wife and was surprisingly intrigued. As a grilled they had all kinds of seasons/rubs. There are small plastic cups and you can try everything in the store. If you're in the area and have time to kill it later worth a quick stop in to check out. read more

I really like their assortment of custom spices such a smoked bacon salt and chipotle honey rub. The flavored vinegars are fantastic, as are the infused olive oils. It's great that you can taste *everything* there before buying. The upstairs staff is nice and very helpful, encouraging tastes and offering shopping bags. We went downstairs for a wine tasting and it was just ok. The person pouring was friendly and knowledgeable about the varieties being poured - it was obvious that she'd tried them herself, which was great. What really got me though was that the pours were not 1 fl oz each. She was even using an auto-measured pouring spout, but turned it to the side when pouring which would disengage the measuring system, making sure that she gave us about 1/2 the usual amount seen in tasting rooms. That rubbed me the wrong way and I left without buying wine and got some seasonings instead. At least I got to keep my glass, right?! read more

I enjoyed my visit to this cute little Savannah gift shop. They specialize in spices and seasonings, oils and vinegars. We liked that many of the items are available to taste. The store has 2 levels, a main floor and a basement so don't miss that. A great spot to visit for the culinary savvy cook or for your favorite foodie. We ended up buying a few items to take home for gifts. friendly staff upstairs although I did feel at times like we were being followed around the store when we went downstairs which did not make me feel warmly welcomed. I love to cook and love new food finds. Infused salts and sugars seem up my alley! Killing time walking around the shops of Savannah we happened upon this store. It was for sure interesting....lots of options. I was disappointed in the staff-the reason for 3 stars. There is so much going on in here a little education about the product would have been helpful. Tips and hints things like that. They didn't approach us at all or ask if we needed help but seemed to be involved in their own conversation....which is why we didn't buy anything. The atmosphere of the small store is very inviting and welcoming and the staff--certainly used to telling tourists all about their teas, salts, and other goods--are very patient and helpful. I mainly wanted to write this review to encourage people to stop in and buy some iced tea as I did even if you're not at all in the market for exotic salts, spices, or sugars for your kitchen, this is still one of the best places in historic downtown Savannah to buy a simple glass of iced tea on a hot summer's day. read more

A well organized, clean shop with an impressive selection of salts, seasonings, dips, and sugars. This is a cook's dream shop offering everything you can think of along the lines of seasonings. Salts and seasonings are sold in both jars and packets. Jars are great if you already know you love something and want a lot of it. Packets are great if you want to try a variety of flavors without getting too much of any one flavor. The salts and dip packets were offered as buy three, get one free making it easier to try a variety. All of the salts and seasonings have taster jars and plastic cups to pour into so that you can taste everything before purchasing. There are also information cards around offering ideas on how to cook, bake, grill, roast, season, etc. with their products. We visited to late in the day to check it out, but there is a wine tasting area in the basement too. read more

Rushed here to make it before they close at 6pm to get some Christmas gifts. I'm not sure why they close so early during the holiday season, folks don't even get out of work until around 5pm. Anyway, I got there at 5:50pm, was immediately told they were getting ready to close. I was walking around Savannah looking for a place to eat and came across this store and decided to walk in. OMG this is like a cook's spice heaven. It's a really cool shop of spices, salts, sugars and tea. They offer several samples for you to try before you make a purchase. I walked in with the only the intention of browsing but I ended up purchasing lots of teas and the ghost pepper salt. Some the teas are offered in tin containers and I thought those were good gifts for tea lovers back home. If the tin containers were too much they offer smaller packages of the teas. Love this place. They have an amazing selection and so many one of a kind salts, oils, spices, etc. The obvious the Pink Salt is great on anything, so much better flavor than regular table salt. The black truffle salt, Tybee Island blend, ghost pepper, the bacon salt, the smoked salts, the black lava salt (suprisingly very good), the salt blocks, etc....all very very good! Prices may seem high, but just know how to shop. The right things are worth the higher prices because the quality and flavor is so much better than any store-bought stuff, therefore lasts much longer. One complaint or rather suggestion, wish they would provide some more ideas and info on what to use some of the different spices and salts for. Cool concept! The name intrigued us so we thought we would stop in. Anna (I think that was her name) greeted us at the door and told us about the store. The specialize in salt (around 200 different types), spices, tea, flavored sugars, wine and many other things. There were little tasting cups around all the different things so you could taste them. They even had flavored sugars which is very cool for cookies or baking. My fiancé liked the different popcorn flavor toppings. This would be a good place for someone who likes to cook\bake and enjoys gourmet and different spices or just creative things to add to traditional items. I didn't go on vacation to Savannah with intentions of buying a bunch of tea and exotic and flavored salts, but I did walk out with a bagful of treats after visiting this little gem. At first glance, it seems like a strange concept for a store -- aisle after aisle of fancy salts, and salts flavored with things like espresso or ginger. But who doesn't like to jazz things up in the kitchen every now and again? If you're stymied by what you would ever do with pink Himalayan coarse-ground salt or ghost pepper infused salt, the shop offers synopses of each of their products along with cooking and pairing recommendations. You can also sample each and every item in the store; be sure to also taste some of the iced teas that are available for sampling. You know, after all those tastes of salts! The staff was super-friendly and helpful and one of the owners was in the house when I visited. She was gracious and seemed to genuinely appreciate our business. The Salt Table is a unique shop that has plenty to offer. They create customize salt and other mixtures right on the premise. We were immediately greeted by David, who I later found out was the owner. In only their second week of operation, they were up and running pretty smoothly. Off to the left of the door was their salt section. You had the ability to taste any and all of their salts. I could only taste a few, because tasting just salt really flattens the taste buds! I did end up picking their merlot salt. I thought it had a divine wine smell to it, and would be great with stews. Next there was a few small tables of vinegars and oils and again samples. I know some people have phobias against tasting mixtures that have sat out, but all over Salt Table were cups to pour everything in too. I was going to go with a pomegranate vinegar until I walked over to the sugar area.. Naturally flavored sugars! The raspberry and strawberry sugars caught my eye immediately. After trying both, definitely the strawberry won. There was also popcorn tastings that were accenting the new trend of flavor kernels and popcorn seasoning. Before we could checked out, we saw the table of teas! Again able to sample them, we were between the sweet tea and their signature peach strawberry southern tea. We ended up paying $2 for a cup of sweet tea and also getting a tin of the peach strawberry. This place is absolutely great for yourself or gift giving to a chef, mom or foodie. Great place for samples but also a place to discover things that you never knew existed. read more

First of all, and I just need to get this out of the way, it seems as if this place existed explicitly for my wife and me. You gotta love a place at which you can have a WINE tasting and a BARBECUE SAUCE tasting at the same counter! My wife and I were both happy campers. I wondered why this spot had such great reviews so we made it a point to stop in. The upstairs room has an incredible variety of salts, teas, and spices - and it was staffed with an extremely knowledgable associate who walked us through some of the products but who really lit up when she was telling us about salt block cooking! Fascinating stuff. We wandered down to the Georgia Room next - a downstairs shop-within-a-shop containing products grown, produced, bottled, or packaged I Georgia; many of these products being native to the Savannah area! We had a brilliant time with Matthew as my wife tasted about 6 flights of local wine and I sampled 4 different local barbecue sauces. We bought bottles of our favorites! All in all, this is a really neat joint with super helpful staff and a great selection of unique products and gift ideas. Stop by The Salt Table! read more
