Out of the 4 donuts I ordered, the Banoffee pie was hands down my favorite. The flavors and textures complimented each other perfectly, and it wasn't too sweet. The other donuts I ordered were decent, but I don't think I'd purchase them again. The classic donut was okay; it was a little too cakey/bready for my liking. Although I liked the flavors of the yuzu & matcha mini, because of the smaller size, the ratio of cream/curd to donut was overpowering. Lastly, again, i liked the flavors of the pistachio cannoli, but it was too sweet and the cream was dry. Overall, I'd still go again and I'd love to try the other flavors. Nice food truck at Klyde Warren Park, had a nice worker who assisted us with picking donuts and let us know on a Wednesday afternoon that they were already out of Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake donut and another donut I don't remember. I ordered the Cafe Con Lèche and Horchata donuts, the Cafe Con Lèche was really good and the Horchata donuts was pretty good, a little too sweet for my taste and since it was pretty hot out the frosting was melting fast and got pretty messy. They had also run out of napkins by this point, but the worker gave us some makeshift food equipment paper to use as a napkin which was nice. Since it's at Klyde Warren park there's lots of tables to sit at near the truck and a public restroom located across the park from the truck. Would go again, but probably wouldn't order the horchata donut. read more

I'd had a bite of one of Salty Donuts a couple years back and it was really good so when me and my sister were in the area we stopped by. I ordered a traditional glazed and Horchata donut. The horchata donut was a 10/10! I'm a huge fan of horchata and this donut was top tier in construction and taste; it was so decadent, the cinnamon-meringue was light and perfectly sweet and the horchata mixture in the donut was unexpected but I loved it, I'm still thinking about that donut. The traditional glazed was good but I warmed it up and ate it later and I didn't care for the gritty texture of the glaze, still good but I'll eat that one fresh next time. I recently learned they have another location with a full menu so I can't wait to go there and try the other specialty donuts. Definite recommend! read more

We first discovered The Salty years ago in Atlanta, GA when I attended a conference. I have wished ever since that they'd open a location in Houston, TX but sadly, they haven't (yet!). So whenever we visit Austin, it's always our little treat to stop by. While visiting friends in the Dallas area, we were excited to find a new location in addition to tne brick-and-mortar one. The other is a doughnut cart or doughnuts on wheels. You can order via their app and pick up there. Our favorite flavor has always been tiramisu, but it's no longer on the menu, so we decided to try the pistachio cannoli instead (I'm a big fan of nuts). It didn't disappoint! The doughnut was dense, rich, and surprisingly heavy when you pick it up. The pistachio glaze melted a bit in the Texas heat, but the flavor was still delicious. Parking can be a little tricky, though--they only have two five-minute spots for quick pickups. It was pretty busy when I stopped by; I saw a few other groups ordering too. There was a lot of people at the park, but there were no lines at the food truck. They offered pastries, donuts, and coffee. I also order their jalapeño kolache, but it wasn't anything special. I did enjoy their maple and brown sugar cold brew because it wasn't too sweet. Even though this was out of food truck, there were a lot of tables at the park and it was very family friendly. Why 4 stars? Because this is the place to go if you're seeking a donut coma. --- --- --- We were in Dallas a few weeks ago and I was told I absolutely had to visit The Salty Donut. We never had time, but for round 2, we were eating lunch nearby, and I pulled up a search to see what kind of coffee could be found nearby. Up popped TSD, and I immediately knew where I needed to go. My coffee (cold brew) was just okay, but you come here for the donuts, and boy do they have donuts. I legitimately wanted to order every single one of them, but didn't want to be embarrassing. I opted for the Texas Sheet Cake, Banana Cream Pie, Strawberry Shortcake, Horchata and Cookie Butter. I liked, not loved all of them. Here's the thing about donuts like this: they are a lot. Eating even two full donuts like this will give you full blown diabetes, so you have to pace yourself. I grabbed a knife before I walked away and cut these bad boys up into sampler size. And that's what I'd recommend to anyone: these are best enjoyed when taking them to a party or to be enjoyed in a large group. Or, if you just want like one full donut, go that route. The service was very nice. The young lady was kind and happened to be working by herself, despite she was very kind. Now the donuts were good, but I'm only giving it four stars instead of five because number one they were cold. Number two the star was a lot smaller so I was a bit disappointed, especially for the price (around five dollars per donut) but they were good. The best tasting donut is a tie between the Horchata and star. They had the perfect balance of sweet where it isn't too much but quite literally perfect. I know how good this spot is from visiting the one in Orlando early 2021; so as soon as this donut shop pulled up in my Yelp search as being nearby my hotel, I jumped in the car to make my way to donut heaven. I love asking the staff what their favorite selections are. The girl behind the counter had amazing suggestions, and put up with my inquisitive sugar fixation very kindly. Its scary to see all these "donuts are amazing" reviews. It feels like these people never tasted a "DONUT" before. Nothing stood out. Nothing special. Looks nice but tastes meh! Feels like they prioritized looks more than taste. Coffee was not good also. Espresso was under extracted i think cause it was on the sour side. "STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL" all caps on that! 1 star cause it felt like i was robbed. and people should know. If you have money to waste to have something to post on social media then give it a try, around 40$ for 3 coffee and 3 donuts. But for others? This is a warning. This place is overhyped and overpriced. Not worth it. EDIT: I get the "Artisan Donut". Lets not forget about the taste though! Went to the Klyde Park spot.
