Our business has been collecting items for them for 6 years now and we just love supporting this local non-profit that has been making such a huge and important impact to our community. (later thrown away) Cornflakes - contained yellow dyes, malt syrup - partially genetically engineered Offbrand 'pancake syrup' - 1st ingredient - high fructose corn syrup. hell to the no Apparently, the church gets donations, and purchases food from Oregon Fraud Bank. They purchase in bulk - canned food which contains the poison high fructose corn syrup. Most of the food at this location is heavily processed. Inspect your so-called food - how much is actually edible from these locales? Produce here was slimy and wouldn't even touch it for further inspection. Someone tried to give me products like laundry detergent and omg reallllly processed and chemical smell - had to leave. Why not just give out gift cards to a grocer's. Give people real choices - could buy a lot in bulk for $25 or $30 bux. The mission behind Dress for Success is definitely something I can get behind. Its not just about…read moreproviding clothing. Its about giving women support, the knowledge, tools, and yes clothes, so they have a better chance of landing a job and providing for themselves and their family. Women earn the right to select accessories or special clothing based on how many interviews they went on, completing learnings, etc. This ensures that both sides are committed, the ladies seeking help and those working at Dress for Success. Yes, the hours are limited for accepting donations, and if you are like me and went through the emotional release of your clothes, you want to drop it off immediately! But sorting the clothes takes time and as I mentioned above, the majority of their time is spent meeting the women in need of their service, teaching interview skills, helping with resumes, showing ladies where to find job postings, helping the ladies select interview outfits, discussing childcare options, etc. My biggest "ah ha" moment came when I dropped off yet another motherlode of dress slacks, tailored jackets, dresses and formal business attire. I mentioned to the women receiving the clothes how my next stop was Goodwill to donate my more casual slacks and sweaters. She said, no! Bring them here. That is exactly what most of these women need. The majority are not seeking high level office jobs. And in Portland, even those in professional business jobs dress casual. Casual Friday is everyday! If a woman is seeking a job in retail, at a grocery store, for example, she needs nice slacks and a top, maybe a scarf and a handbag. Not a designer suit! Now I bring all my clothes that are in good shape to Dress for Success. I give them my fomr business attire, which I no longer wear, AND nice khakis, jeans and dress slacks. Plus sweaters, cotton tops, blouses, jackets, scarves, handbags, shoes and costume jewelry. Basicsic clothing and accessories to build a wardrobe upon. Dress for a Success is definitely worth supporting. It is about women giving other women a hand up.

I'd choose them any day over Salvation Army, who once rejected a bunch of high quality toys in my donation pile. What? They couldn't give away the toys for free at their stores! UGM is appreciative of donations. Every contact I've had with their people has been positive and even uplifting. They love their mission and their God.

awful experience. I was homeless due to unfortunate circumstances and had to stay here for a few…read moreweeks. Me and my mother entered our room and were exhausted. We sat on the bed to rest only to see a BED BUG crawling on our blanket. My mom moved the bed to check the back and found an insane amount of both dead/old/and alive bed bugs everywhere, on the bed, bed frame, the wall, the floor, it was INFESTED. We called staff for help so we can get situated in a different room, ONE staff member was there to help. He cleaned up the sheets/bed/mattress and apologized. We got put into a different room around an hour later. Paranoid the whole night thinking every speck was another bed bug, so we had to go out to buy bug spray and spray around areas. According to my mom, the staff had spoken to her and were blaming us and saying we apparently brought them in. We were getting dirty looks from both staff and other residents because of the STAFF gossiping. YOU WORK IN A SHELTER, I'd think they wouldn't be so judgmental but here we are. WE did NOT bring in the bed bugs, they looked to have been there for super long, THEY LOOKED OLD. There were brown areas with dead bugs/bedbugs combined with alive ones. I hate to say it but we may have even been the cleanest/most hygienic ones there, but we didn't judge a single person despite them judging us for something we didn't even cause. Due to there being bedbugs I had left both my blanket and plushie/pillow that meant a lot to me (if you don't have much, little things mean a lot) on the bed because they said they'd disinfect it and give it back, just in case it had been infected. They NEVER RETURNED it. I never got my plushie back from them nor did I get my blanket back. They did not throw it away, they had their shed open one day and I saw it clear as day, they lied to me. Life was already tough and they made everyday more miserable. When we stood up for ourselves, they then begin to blame the previous residents that stayed in that room, saying they were "gross" and weren't very hygienic. Quit judging people in bad situations, get a different job, don't make other people miserable just because you are. The place is crowded and the staff don't seem to be keeping up with cleaning. They depend on the chores they give residents instead of taking responsibility and doing their job.

Re-Runs is a non-profit consignment and donation gift shop that supports the Lakewood Center for the Arts Consignments are accepted by appointment on Tuesdays between 11am-1:30pm. Consignors receive 60%. You can email pictures to Lakewood.LCA@gmail.com Donations can be dropped off any time during store hours. Mondays- Saturdays 11am-3pm. They are also open from 630 - 730 pm on Thursdays when there are shows at the center. I plan to start coming to shows way early just to shop here since I always try to go to shows on Thursday nights!

Each time we drop by to give diapers or canned goods, we've had pleasant brief experiences with the staff. I believe it is volunteer-run, so these kind humans spend their time helping others in our community. They're open only Tuesdays (until posted otherwise). They accept diapers and wipes. I found this out after trying to donate a half-opened Costco box of baby and toddler diapers. It was a shame to just throw it away, so I thought donating to Goodwill would be right. They don't accept them and recommended we drop them off here. Each Tuesday we've dropped off food and other items, we see lots of elderly. If you're looking to donate items, go around the back to have a worker meet you.
