Char siu pork spare ribs and mac and cheese
    Sara P.

We had such great food at the Sand Bar we actually came back a second time the same weekend we were in town. First night we tried the calamari which were tossed in a green curry with fried wontons. I could have eaten an entire second bowl they were so good. I do love curry. We also got the spare ribs to share with a side of mac and cheese. These were very flavorful ribs. The mac and cheese was very bland which was very surprising considering the other two dishes were so good. We enjoyed a couple signature cocktails that were great - the rum barrel, and yuzu lemon drop. They also have an extensive bourbon list. Sushi night is on the weekends and we brought our friends back for that. Spoiler alert. Sushi was great! Loved the crunchy spicy tuna, the ultimate salmon roll, and the ahi poke bowl. Definitely put sushi night on your calendar.

Retired, my wife and I live halftime in Ocean Park; we've wanted to check out The Sandbar since it opened. With Yelp reviews all over the board, we walked in today at 5pm... and were treated like royalty. Seated immediately (the place was packed by the time we finished our dinner), Deanna our server was sooo friendly and helpful. We enjoyed an oyster shooter, Gouda mac 'n' cheese, fish tacos, a White Claw, and a perfect Grey Goose martini. All came out quickly (keep in mind, it's Memorial Day Weekend), all was delicious. Deanna checked in several times to make certain we were happy. Before we left, we peeked upstairs at the rooftop deck, and plan to dine there with family when they come to visit this summer. What a great addition to downtown Long Beach dining!

Everyone was very respectful. The food was amazing and very quick. The flow was good and the area felt very calm. Definitely a place I would come back to.

The food was good the service not so much.. The ambience was pleasant, very clean and inviting. The steam clams were definitely the highlight. The crab cob salad was also good, just not a fan of the house dressing.. Too horseradishy for me. The yellow curry calamari was also very good. We are not sure why the service fell off.. Nobody came to ask how our meal was or offered to refill our drinks. If you don't mind tasty food with bad service, give''em a shot!

The view from up top is wonderful! You are allowed to bring up food but no alcohol is allowed. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly bar tender. We didnt come for the food we just wanted to check the place out. We will for sure come back!

The ambiance was like a modern garage with lots of open space, windows and natural lighting. It was really Smokey by the front though. We were happy to sit in the back with the open garage door. The service was really slow. Even when there were lots of available tables, we weren't seated right away. The servers were nice and friendly but so slow. And our servers forgot 2 out of 4 of our orders. She eventually served 3 plates but forgot one. It was sad! We ended up taking it home. The clams were popular. It was good. Our favorite was the pork chops. It was unique and flavorful. The rest were just okay.

Last night my bf and I were looking for a place to eat and have some drinks. We were walking on the Main Street and came across The Sandbar and decided to try it out, and boy am I glad we did! The place was busy because of the Seahawks game, but we found a spot at the bar. Heather was our bartender/server and she was so great. She was so personable, and even though she seemed busy she always checked in to make sure we were doing good. At one point she even made a little too much of a margarita and gave us a little taster which was so nice! We shared the Gouda Mac with steak and it was 10/10. I had a couple Cherry Blossom Manhattans and they were so good too! We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in town.

Came with my partner and parents at 12pm. Wait staff was nice and sat us immediately. We ordered by 12:10pm. 3 of our meals were served at 1pm. We waited to eat until when 1 of the 4 meals was finally served. Our food was cold upon eating and completely lacked flavor. My partner order the Orange chicken and it was hard/dry, the texture of dried smoked salmon. My mother and I ordered the Fish Tacos and it lacked flavor, had to ask for extra sauce to stomach the meal. Do not recommend eating from the Sandbar, maybe the food carts are better. The establishment stated "open at 12" but we were later told by our waiter that the kitchen refused to start cooking until 12:30, hence our 1hr long wait for food.

Great staff. Good selection on beverages. And the creamed corn and grilled broccoli can stand on there own!

We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu. Note: I've forgotten to take photos so the ones on this review are from the restaurants social media - definitely a reflection of our last meal at The Depot without the drinks.

So you try to be more efficient and reduce expenses But having less spirt choices at the bar maybe shouldn't be one, or not having any options to tweet a choice, or not fully cooking potatoes in the chowder, or... I don't have the challenge of running a restaurant these days, but I do have choices of where to dine. It's a good restaurant, it was just so much better.

I usually have the deep fried shrimp but saw someone else's 5 Star rating on the batter dipped fried shrimp tacos, and WOW!!! Three delicious prawn tacos, so far only place I've found that does the batter dipped fried prawn tacos since having them when I visited my parents in Yuma, AZ & we would go to Los Algodones, Mexico. They were the greatest, along with the little serving of chips & salsa, even the water was crystal clear with no chlorine taste. Only one waitress plus a guy helping with everything, ran the whole floor and was very responsive to everyone, even checked on me for more water. The ambience was nothing exciting, but everything including restroom were clean, would have been a 3 to 4 star except the shrimp tacos blew it out of the water, will definitely be back again...

Had to wait to be seated and then told to pick a table. We prefer a slice of lemon in our water and had to remind the server. We ordered both a 1-piece and a 2-piece halibut and chips with a cup of chowder. The fish & chips came out quickly. Nice and hot. The slaw is more like a carrot and cabbage salad with a slight Mexican flavor accent. I believe portions are out of balance as there was way more slaw than fish on both platters. The chowder was thick and creamy and clam forward in flavor. A good mix of celery potato and clam. If there had not been oyster crackers I would say it needed more veg & clams to give texture to the chowder base. The fish was battered and came out hot and crispy. The portions were disappointingly small with a big price. The tarter was very chunky so not great for dipping. Overall, it was good food but I don't think I would go back.
