Disappointed in my pressed Cuban (ordered two 12") order. Granted they were busy during the noon hour, but the correct ingredients weren't even included; it was basically a ham sandwich with dill chips on Cuban bread (the best part of this sandwich). I was told when I placed my phone order it would be a "traditional Cuban", so I was expecting Swiss cheese (I see now their menu states "American White"), fresh pork, and salami, but this sandwich was made with mostly ham... NO CHEESE at all, ONE slice of salami on the half I ate so far, and not even a HALF SLICE of fresh pork on this half of the 12" sandwich. This half did have four dill chips and mayo, but no mustard, which there should have been. I used to frequent The Sandwich Spot when my kids were younger (even purchased from their catering menu for family celebrations over the years), but haven't been their in a few years, so I thought I would give them a try since I was in Zephyrhills for an appointment just before noon. There are a lot of other options (restaurants) in the Zhills/Wesley Chapel area to choose from, so I won't be ordering my next Cuban sandwich from them. I would have appreciated a sign by the cash register or being told when I was paying that there is an extra fee for using a credit card, which is how I paid; I would have gladly saved some money and paid by cash had I known. read more

There are some very strange reviews for this lovely little establishment, so I hope I can clarify what makes this a Zephyrhills institution. I've tried this delightful shop about a month ago for the first time, and it's become a regular lunch stop for my husband and I since then because of the quality of the food, the super friendly service, and the spotless interior. First of all, there are some comments about the bread not being the best or fresh or top quality. They get their bread from La Segunda in Tampa, and it is absolutely top-quality Cuban bread. Also, they don't press their Cubans and sandwiches? No. They press them. There's a huge press that I've never seen not in use while I'm there. There are some Cubans that you can take home and press yourself in the cooler to the side, but the ladies will always ask which one you want. I've heard them ask that question in person and over the phone. The sandwiches are packed with ingredients. My dad has changed his loyalty for a cheesesteak (called a Cheesy Steak here) to The Sandwich Spot after giving it a try. According to him, other places tend not to get the ratio of onions, peppers, and mushrooms to the cheese and the meat correct. When he ordered it here, they carefully asked him how he wanted it, asking how many veggies he wanted. There's a lot of dispute about what veggies, how many, ratio, etc. I mean, it's a cheesesteak. People have strong opinions. I appreciate that this place wants to make it for you, not the way they think it should be. In a place like Zephyrhills, with all of the snowbirds, that's important. One of the things that we really appreciate is that any sandwich can be made into a salad, and when these ladies are making a salad, they are packing that container full of veggies. Love that you can do a mix of spinach and romaine. Another thing that's wonderful is the freshness of the veggies. I asked them a couple of days ago about their veggies, noticing that the bell peppers were orange and yellow instead of green. They get what's fresh. Also, who knew that pickles on a salad could be so good? I've had that before, but somehow, their pickles are real standouts. The inside is nothing special. Do not go to this place if you want a hip, trendy, full of tchotchkes with some nonchalant waiter named Rain or Twig. These are down home folk making down home food. The booths and tables are clean, but they've been around for awhile. Pro tip: They are busy. B-U-S-Y. If you're in a hurry or have a more complicated order, give them a call. It will speed the process and help them get your order done when you need it to be. read more

I've been looking for a new place to try Cuban sandwiches. I saw this place during a Google search. One thing that caught my eye was 'free delivery within 2.7 miles' and since we are only 1.5 miles, I figured, "Hey, why not?" Going over the menu, the wife and I thought their prices were average and a decent selection for such a small place. So I called and a very sweet young lady answered. She answered all my questions cheerfully and without a pause. She was very respectful, had a good sense of humor, and their policy for security by asking me to repeat my card number and street address number because they don't say personal info out loud. I like those little things. Payment can be with a card or cash. Tips can be included in the card payment and she reassured me that the tip would be given to the appropriate person. A side note: the delivery driver was just as sweet as she was and he confirmed that when he delivered our subs. Now for the food ..... the pressed Cubans, fries, and onion rings were absolutely delicious with plenty of meat in the Cubans and good-sized orders of the sides. The Cubans were indeed pressed with a taste of butter on the crust as their menu said," All sandwiches will be pressed/toasted unless otherwise specified" and the food was still nice and hot when we got it. I can't praise them enough. We are now happy customers who will certainly be getting our pressed Cubans from them. I don't know the young lady's name who took our order but I enjoyed how she handled our call and got our food to us hot as she promised. My wife and I are 110%, happy customers. Thank you! While waiting for the order...watched cubans being prepared. Cubans were heated by Chef Mike, "microwave", then put on a sandwich press. Waited 15 Min to get a sandwich a cuban that I have been craving. The one girl that took the order made the sandwich and stuck it in the press. Then she stared talking to a friend and the other one was on the phone taking a large order. I waited and waited finally the girl on the phone asked me if i had been helped i said i believe that is my cuban that has been sitting under the press for 10 min. It was flat. She wrapped it gave it to me and said sorry about the wait. Well if the girl would not had taken my money i would of walked out. Yesterday, or actually two days ago, in Zephyrhills I went to the only place that Google showed me Debbil crabs. I am NOT supposed to eat gluten, but I needed to actually eat like a normal Tampan would. But in excess. I had a crab that was not a great one, but it was tasty. It was not on the level of Brocatos, Linda's Crab Shack, or the Silver Ring, but it was tasty. It was given to me just dripping with grease. I had to go into the place to tell the person in charge that it was tasty, but it needs to be drained with napkins, or something. I literally got about a tablespoon of grease on me, and then I went in to get a bunch of napkins to sop the grease off. The person I spoke to said that they have a drainer for the fryer, but the cook must have just plopped it into my bag. The Cuban was good, but not Tampa good. It just didn't have the right flavor and enough meat. It was not authentic. But it was good for hospital stay food, but I won't be back. The pic of the crab is after a massive amount of grease spilled on me in my car. You can also see grease pooled around the container. A $50 white skirt ruined for $3. My grandmother is in the ICU. saw the reviews and decided to go here but I was not impressed. maybe the south isn't a good place for cold cut sandwiches, between the long wait just to get our food because there was only one person there or the fact our sandwiches didn't really taste like anything. I was really looking forward to having this amazing Beast sandwich, loaded it up with everything and even had it on the Cuban bread. being from the north, I may be spoiled when it comes to sandwiches as we have boars head and it's a serious business. Went in to get a quick sandwich on my way home at 6pm,little did i know the shut of everything an hour before the close at 7pm nothing fried just sandwiches so I ordered a cheese steak WHAT A JOKE they microwaved the meat and onion and peppers then put it all in the micro for a quick heat GARBAGE!!! Best place to get a sandwich. Plentiful. Food is delicious. Their steak and cheese is my favorite. You won't leave hungry. The ladies here work their a** off. The place is busy busy busy. I sometimes have to call multiple times to get through! There is a wait at times when you're ordering. I find it best to order ahead and then come pick up. We stopped to pick up dinner to go, I walked in with my dad and my husband, the girls working looked right at us but did not acknowledge us. The first greeting was "THATS NOT THE BATHROOM!" when my husband walked towards what he thought was the bathroom. We were there over an hour before closing time, service was slow, my husband asked about deviled crab and we were told that the fryer was off. My dad tried to order a soup listed on the permanent menu and they didn't have it. We found something to order and left, drove five minutes to our destination and everything was cold. Literally this place is a hidden gem! The ladies who helped me were incredibly friendly. I asked what their best sandwich was and they both immediately told me the Cuban. That's what I ended up ordering and I chatted with the gal as she made my sandwich. I took it to go, and once I got back to where I was staying...oh man. Heaven. Totally underestimated this place. I would say probably one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had. The ham was thinly sliced, and pork was tasty and was more of a pulled pork, instead of a slice of pork which lots of places do. The mayo and pickles were just enough to cut through the meat. Nicely toasted on the outside, it was amazing. I'm hoping to go back at least one more time before I have to go back to Chicago!
