This required very detailed work to ensure the applique pattern running down the dress to the end of the train flowed well. She did a wonderful job! I started with inquiry thru yelp and then texting to set up appt for the work to be done on my MOB dress. I was very excited to work with Sherri and had high hopes, as she came across as kind, sweet, and professional. She was organized and coordinated throughout the process and even drove to my home, which I truly appreciated. My initial appointment was January 7th. The first fitting with the initial alterations was on February 24th, and a second attempt at correcting the alterations took place on March 10th. While she completed a corset back that I was satisfied with, the larger alterations--adding sleeves, extending my train, and adjusting the skirt--did not meet expectations, even after multiple attempts. During what was supposed to be the final fitting, a sleeve developed a tear that she was made aware of, and overall the dress was not prepared to the standard I had hoped for, especially so close to my wedding at the beginning of April. I tried to be respectful and considerate of her time and effort, recognizing that this is a small business.In respect for her policy I had paid the $90 retainer and the full $850 during our initial visitor in January. I attempted to negotiate a fair compromise by asking for partial reimbursement for the work that now needs to be redone. Unfortunately, that was not possible. She stated that, according to her policies, all alteration work is custom and non-refundable once services have begun. However, her policies (Section 11) state that cancellations are eligible for a refund on work that has not been completed, which in this case it was not (photo provided). She expressed that I had not given her the opportunity to correct the issues, but this was already her second attempt. Moving forward would have meant a third attempt, scheduled for March 17th. With my wedding only weeks away, I could not risk another alteration being done poorly and ultimately had to cancel the extended alteration appointment and take my dress elsewhere to remove most of the work she had done (aside from the corset) so it could be properly completed. While she is very kind and may handle smaller alterations well, I cannot recommend her for larger or more complex projects. I hope this review helps future brides not to end up in the same situation as myself to prevent the stress and hopefully save you time and money. read more

I reached out in December 2024 for an estimate and booked my appointment for January 2025. One of the best things about Scarlett Seam is that it's mobile so Sherri comes to you, which made the whole process so convenient, especially during the wedding planning process. Sherri was fantastic! She's easy to talk to, professional, and very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions about the dress (hems, fit, etc.) and even addressed a tricky zipper that was hard to zip up by oiling it so it worked smoothly. Finding the right dress is hard enough, but finding someone you trust to alter it is even harder. But Sherri really makes you feel comfortable and she did such an amazing job. With all of the wedding planning I did not have time to drag my dress around to different places. I sent out messages on yelp to find someone to do the work. Sherri responded quickly along with a couple of others. In total I got 7 quotes and some were extremely ridiculous. Hers was competitive but what sealed the deal was the fact that SHE COMES TO YOU. So we set up a date and time and I paid a deposit and she came. Even with my two toddlers in the house she was patient and kind. She showed up on time with good communication. She had me try the dress on and took her measurements and then the scariest part of all... she took my dress. It wasn't so scary after all. She communicated with me throughout the process and brought the dress back in time. I tried it on for the final fitting with her and I could not have been happier. That was the first time in this whole process I was able to feel my dress made for me! She did amazing and even let me keep what fabric she removed as I requested. Included in this review will be pictures of the day I bought the dress so you can see how much was pinned behind me. The back had to be taken in down the zipper and the straps had to be shortened.
