Then, when they came out to take measurements, they said they could fix it for 80% less. I was so pleased with their integrity and desire to meet the customer's needs. This is a useful review and a hidden gem review. A twofer! Orchard used to have a screen counter but then Lowes bought Orchard and killed them because that's what big boxes do. But. When we went to Lowes first bc it was convenient and found no real screen replacement options they were nice enough to recommend the Screen Shop. So there's that. A star for Lowes. Hidden in a location that feels like an infrastructure octopus has grown up around them w ramps and soccer stadiums and here in an eddy still lives the folks that you should call first when you need something screen, screen door, or just a reminder of what competent efficient business should feel like. Julie helped me with my order and it was so comforting to know this is a family run business and has been for so many years. Our screen door was literally on it's last leg. We tried to find companies that would fix or replace the frame, but many just replaces the screen itself. We've tried to find universal ones only to see it wouldn't fit being too wide to fit the tracks or something else. We bought 4 replacement windows from The Screen Shop. We are decent DIYers but this was our first window replacement. We asked for the measurement service and John came to our house and spent a lot of time walking us through the process, giving us all our different options and helping us figure out what we wanted. SUPER HELPFUL. Our house is 90 years old so I was worried we would run into something weird, it helped for my piece of mind to get someone here to look at what we were doing and make suggestions. They have a showroom with a bunch of stuff, but I thought it was really helpful to stand next to our existing windows with a catalog and see the different choices (single vs double hung, segmented, painted vs colored vinyl, etc). He pointed out different houses on the block to illustrate the differences. We debated getting them to do the install but he walked me through the whole process, including answering a few follow up questions over email. The actual installs went great. The first window took us maybe 3 hours but by the fourth, I think we got it down to about an hour. Everything fit perfectly and they look awesome, even better than I was expecting. Maybe most importantly, I don't need to use a mallet to open my windows anymore. We will definitely be going back once we're ready to do the rest of our house. read more
