I was visiting with the Madden's who were staying at the resort. From my arrival to leaving, everyone was so helpful and personnel. The valet gentleman explained what was needed to get ticket validated. On entering the first impression was the resort was so clean. At the registration desk, I can't say enough good things about Sarah P. She was so pleasant and explained all aspects of the resort and their location. You could tell, she truly enjoyed her position and proud of the resort. Having a late lunch at the restaurant was very good. The servers were so helpful and Jay explained re: the validation. This might just be my new happy place. I turned too soon and had to circle around to find the entrance and valet. When we walked in a bunch of beautiful sunflowers greeted us at the entrance and so did John. The front desk staff were so kind and welcoming their names are Sandra and Brittney. I had such a wonderful experience here that I cannot wait to come back.. There's so much I love about this place. I love the rooms, the location and it's a great little local getaway with my young son who is just under 5. They did such a great job with this remodel. The food by the pool is delicious as well and very reasonably priced. Thanks for such a pleasant experience I look forward to returning. We had a GREAT time at The Seabird. Room was perfect, grounds were beautiful, staff was impeccable. We booked another stay before our first stay was even over. The gift shop staff in particular were so lovely. Dinner at The Piper was fantastic. Hotel staff and valet were so friendly and accommodating to anything we wanted or needed. Tons of local art featured throughout. My eight year old son loved the pool, game room, and library. Highly recommend, and can't wait to come back! read more

If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay this is it! If you are looking for peace and quiet and a hot tub to relax, this isn't where you should go! They are a very family friendly hotel to which there is no regulation in the hot tub. I got splashed in the face multiple times just wanting to relax in the hot tub and it was not relaxing. I was also hit with a pool noodle and no parents in sight! In the hot tub!!! Every resort I've been to has a 16+ policy on the hot tub area or at least have to have parental supervision while in there. It really damped my Mother's Day weekend getaway. Hardly a 4 1/2 star resort. Over priced rooms lacking any real decor. Bathrooms without glasses, tissue, shower caps, other amenities. Curtains in the rooms that do not close completely and morning sun pours in. My wife did like the unusually heavy comforter, but myself started to peal off layer after layer of sheets. With my wife requiring a working refrigerator for her meds and me with cocktail mixes, we found it did not work. Called the hotel services to have another one installed, they sent up engineering to say they would bring one up. An hour later, still no refrigerator. I called hotel services again for them to say housekeeping would bring one up. Thirty minutes pass and finally they bring a big bulky stand alone refer into the room. Upon departure, called for a bellman to carry down our suitcases and etc. having my wife wait while I arrange for our car to be brought up. Twenty-five minutes pass with no bellman. So our party of five decided to go back to the third floor and get our bags ourselves. Upon our arrival the bellman shows up. This two night stay was a gift from my wife's cousin from Michigan and she was truly looking forward to seeing her and family and enjoying time together. We only stayed one night because of the service and attitude of Seabird. Truly not a happy camper with this MOTEL, so will not be coming back. read more

I know the location is great but the customer service and reservation process is horrible, or the worst I have ever worked with. My daughter and her friends made a reservation 5 weeks in advanced for the large suit for her 21st birthday , she told there staff that helped her make this reservation that she was expecting 10-15 people just for the party on 5/13. My daughter thought everything was good and in place, the staff called her 2 days before and asked if she needed anything special or if they could set up the suit in a special way for her party. ( this was the only good experience ) on Friday 5/13 at 1:15 pm my daughter called and let them know she would be arriving about 3:30 and wanted to make sure everything would be ready because her guests would be there by 7:30 pm. The staff told her there was a mistake with her reservation and they could no longer offer her the large suit on the top floor but they had a mini suit with a wrap around balcony. This sent the entire mood from happy and excited to panic. When my daughter got down to the resort, the front desk staff told her that the credit card she used to book the room needed to be placed at the front desk. well my daughter didn't take that card with her because she was paying cash and was never told by staff the 3 times she spoke to them that she would need the credit card in person the day of. I was more than 2 hours away due to friday evening traffic and offered to give my card over the phone and drive down that evening if they could let her get into the smaller room and set up. They said no, that they could hold the room but she could not gain access to it until I got there. Frustrated and pressed for time now, my daughter walked across the street or down the street to the Marriott and the staff there was more than helpful and gave her a great deal on 2 suits plus helped her set up for her guests to arrive.. moral of this story is, big and fancy is not always the best choice. The Marriott has and always will have better customer service than the Seabird Resort. Go with what you know and you will never be disappointed. Shame on you Seabird!!!! read more

Very disappointed by our stay Way overrated way overpriced ! Ridiculously pricey $8 dollars for a small cup of orange juice at breakfast $42 dollars adult buffet which isn't worth it at all they charge 30 dollars for kids ! It's across the street from the ocean not ocean front ! We paid 594 per night before resort fees and taxes in July for a small double queen room nothing wow at all Small balcony facing the side of the building , has the ambiance of a retirement home ,parking is not included either. We asked for towels at 10:45 am ,at 4 pm we still didn't get any towels at 1 pm our room wasn't even cleaned terrible service for what they charge ! Room cleaning was the worst part ,they make the bed they don't change sheets ,and empty the trash but leave the room dirty, they don't even vacuum hairs from the floor and toilet had urine and other goodies in it other peoples Rooms are cute nothing special ,and not clean at all ! Seriously ! The place doesn't justify what they charge what so ever This could he good for older couples it's an older ambiance The worse 650 dollars I ever spent on a place claiming to be a resort associated with Hyatt 1 out of ten read more

My family and I did not have the best experience on our vacation at the seabird resort. The main problem was the management, the housekeeping, and the way the employees ran the front counter. We had to call at least 3 to 5 times a day to have our trash cans emptied, toilet paper and towels refilled, coffee brought up with creamer (which were unsuccessful on the last day we were there because they ran out) When we first arrived we were surprised with a parking valet fee which is $44 a day. It was forced, we had no choice. The manager on duty the day we checked in was very rude and didn't care about any of our issues, he did not help. The people who work at the front counter checking customers in, smile and make false promises and pretend like they care but they really don't. They are trained very well to smile and make it look like they want to help, but they never helped. We are in the process of a well-deserved complaint against this resort. High notes alert! Beautiful location, the rooms are meh... Kind of small for what they charge. Don't expect housekeeping service in this hotel, lol...All they do is make your bed and if they feel like it they will empty your trashcan. They told me they only do light housekeeping which includes making your bed never changing your sheets so if you have any stains or crumbs on there, you will sleep with your stains and crumbs for the duration of your visit, so make friends with them. The valet employees who parked our car and brought it to us we're awesome and the security that works there are also awesome they were the only genuine people in the building. read more

I gave the resort another two stars after my last review for two reason. First, hotel guests have access to Mission Pacific amenities across the street (rooftop bar has the best view in town). Next, my precious review indicated the room alarm kept going off, but it was just kids ding-dong-ditch-ing. The second issue was a source of fun and entertainment. Horrible experience! Booked a suite and adjoining room for our large family. Pool was closed from 3pm to 10pm two of the three nights!?!?? Staff still has a lot of work to do. They never once cleaned our room! You ask staff a question and they always refer you to the front desk. Showed up at 4pm for our scheduled check in and the rooms weren't ready til 7pm. No room to take our bags so we had to keep luggage in the car. Thought oh maybe we can just go hang at the pool. Nope! It was closed. Don't get a Pina Colada at the pool they have no idea how to make it. Dirty towels sat out front of our room for two days. Could be such a cool vacation with a cool vibe but they haven't figured it out! No explanation of anything or suggestions, nothing when we checked in. Meet Gabriela and sign up for a private pool cabana. The hot tub ocean front was nice on the June gloom mornings. Rooms are exquisitely equipped with robe, slippers, snacks and more. Even the hair dryer was top of the line Drybar brand. I had the opportunity to speak with the Hotel Manager regarding a small issue and he went above and beyond to resolve. Thanks! This place is the worst hotel I have stayed at in years. They do not clean the rooms even on a 3 night stay.... I guess they do not clean them even between guests because the bed literally had obvious fecal matter on both the comforter and the sheets. On arriving at the hotel I learned they do not have parking on site except for valet parking they charge 44 dollars for. This crazy price although 5 dollar parking is offered across the street which you have to renew nightly at 12 midnight. The problem is this hotel is in a hood that turns bad after dark. I exited the hotel to an empty lobby at midnight and went out into the parking lot to pay the 5 dollars to avoid a ticket. Then I get followed by a seedy looking guy (tattoos on his face) who it turns out is hotel security. Honestly it was terrifying being followed by this guy as I walked back into the hotel. Then even after providing a room key I have to be looked up by the inattentive front desk who are not paying attention enough to know who is walking past them . Also this hotel and all the neighborhood establishments seem to close down at 8pm even on the weekend ... room service food is expensive and barely edible. Will never stay at this place again. read more

Overpriced resort. Paid 1600.00 2 nights partial ocean view . We booked 600.00 per night, all add one , be careful.. Got to room and found out all others had a sitting balcony but not ours. There was a layer of heavy dust on the railing. Pay for movie didn't work. Spent hours on the phone. They offered to move our room for second night but not to partial ocean. The hotel is across the street from the beach. As soon as you walk into the hotel, you notice a fresh, relaxing scent. The decor reflects a more premium hotel. The staff, who greets you immediately, are helpful and friendly. The check-in process was easy and quick. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and well decorated period. The pool area on the third floor has a great view of the ocean and pier. The hotel is centrally located to anything you would want. Lots of restaurants and a theater are within walking distance. The hotel offers a Beach Butler that offers you chairs, umbrellas, and towels, right on the beach. This is an included service. I stayed here one night then moved to its sister hotel accessed the street. I had valet my car and they were able to move all of my stuff to the other hotel no problem. Great service read more

I went to the spa recently and was very pleased- outstanding facilities and friendly service. Got a massage as well which was well worth it, and then we hung out for a while, and eventually went down to the bar downstairs to check out the sunset. We arrived at 2:30pm and was given a checkin email at 12:37pm that day. When I booked the hotel I called the Hyatt direct to make sure I was booking the right room it disScribed in the picture. I talk to a very nice girl who told me what room category ans name is room type,so I proceed to book it. Once I get to the hotel they make me wait a 1/2 . Go have a drink so 2 1/2 hours later no room yet. We go to the lobby restaurant and bar to order something at least to drink buy this time we were very hungry missed our lunch. Sat 1/2 hour ans none came Up to us but we saw a guy at the bar cleaning glasses and so I went over and asked him for a drink please.... His reply I can't serve you a drink our waitress can. I never saw a waitress the whole time. I went back to him and asked where the waitress is he didn't know?? WHAT!! We decided to go upstairs to the pool area now it's 4:00pm get to the pool area and sit at the tables where we see other guest eating. No waiter for over 20 mins so my husband went to the counter ans he gave us menu's said the waiter would be over shortly.... 15 mins pass than 20 mins. I get up and go talk to the guy. He says he's busy and will be over after he take 2 other peoples orders and give food for another family. we left it's now 4:35 and went to front fest to see if room is ready. Told us no to wait another few minutes. We stood there waiting. This hotel needs help with customer service big time. We were very disappointed. It was dinner time now ans we hadn't had lunch. Finally got to our room at 5:16pm and it was not the room I booked. went back down to front desk to see if I could get my room I paid for and I had a picture of it they emailed me when I booked. They gave a a room lol if at another hotels I booked an oceanfront. So very disappointed with the whole think we said if you gave my room away and have no more oceanfronts we will take our refund and go somewhere else. Now they finally figured something out as we stood at the front counter for another 24 mins. My birthday dinner was planned for 7pm with family coming to join us down the street. By Time I got to my room I had 23 minutes to get ready. It was such a bummer and stressful afternoon when I was supposed to go down there and celebrate my birthday enjoy the pool maybe for at least a half an hour get something to eat but that did not happen. I unfortunately had a very disappointing experience at the Sunny Spa located in the Seabird. I should have known better than to book a spa day on 4th of July weekend at a beach front hotel. It was packed with tourists , we arrived during check out time (10:30am) and it was nearly impossible to get an elevator ride up 2 floors to the spa (no stair option which I found weird). The spa itself is very minimal and underwhelming. All co ed, no private lockers for changing (you have to use a single stall bathroom). There is a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean but there was booming music outside which was not peaceful at all, so we had to sit inside with door closed. We made the mistake of going to the hotel pool (the only option, there's no hot tub or pool as part of the spa) and there were screaming children and very limited seating options. We attempted to find some quiet by getting lunch at the pool restaurant. There were kids inside playing giant Jenga with huge wood blocks, so about every 3-5 minutes the structure would collapse which is extremely loud as you can imagine. The food was very sub par. Got the two taco plate which was two measly and tiny dry tacos a La Carte. As for treatments, my mom got the deep sea facial which she said was very nice (I would hope so for over $300). I myself got the healing Cocoon which was relaxing , but nothing more than rubbing different products on my skin and taking them off with hot towels. (For $265, very underwhelming). To top it off, it took us almost an HOUR for valet to retrieve our car so we could leave. they have a text system where you message a number saying you want to leave and they text you back saying "relax, we will text you when the car is ready". 30 minutes later I go outside to check on my car, they say "oops, we got the wrong car". I was never even told my car was ready, even if it was the wrong car. Almost 20 minutes later I was finally given my car and able to leave. They were hardly apologetic. I am so sad I had this experience- I wanted to love this place. I spent a lot of money to treat my mom for a special occasion and the whole experience was stressful and disappointing for the most part. Do not come here for a spa day- if you are staying at the hotel and want to get a spa treatment during your stay, I'm sure it's a nice addition to a family trip. read more

Booked as an Amex Platinum and Fine Resorts member for a friend's birthday. Forget early check-in or complimentary room upgrades if available -- we arrived for check-in right before 4 and were told the room wasn't ready and wouldn't be for a while. Waited an hour past the standard 4 PM check-in for the room and asked Amex to call and see if it was available or if we could stay elsewhere. Hotel told my rep that the room was, "already ready", despite me not having been texted as promised. Room was missing the reusable water bottles because they were "waiting on a shipment". Bags were delivered 30 minutes after we finally checked in to the room. One of the beds had blood stains on the side of the comforter that faces you. We had confirmed our guaranteed late check-out at 4 when we checked in but the next morning, the keycards stopped working at 11. Service is very kind and friendly at Seabird but if you go to the Rooftop Bar across the street at Mission Pacific, expect to be ignored (not even acknowledged) for about 30 minutes before getting a drink. Really nice people but a lot of promises that never really came through. Was hoping for the promised resort experience with maybe a few Membership perks but instead it was an overpriced, underwhelming weekend. read more

The Seabird Resort is a fabulous new hotel overlooking the beach. We loved staying there. The whole hotel is beautiful. The rooms are especially attractive and comfy, with a loveseat and table as well as a big upholstered chair. The bed was super comfortable. And of course, everything is brand new, which is especially appealing. There was a high-end coffee maker in the room, and cute bottles to fill with filtered water from a fancy purifier down the hall. Our room looked out over a beautiful, sparkling pool, and you could also see the ocean. The service was excellent at all times. We also had a spa service, which was superior. I liked the fact that the hotel was quiet, but you could walk right into the town of Oceanside to stores and other restaurants. We enjoyed a totally delightful stay, plan to return there, and highly recommend it. read more

I gave the hotel 2 stars because the location was great and the front desk staff and valet drivers were friendly. Aside from that it was not a good experience. Chrck in wss at 4pm and we arrived just after 4 after driving 6 hours and our room wasnt ready which messed up our dinner plans. They credited us one night of the destination fee. The rooms were just okay little rooms. I was on the top floor so that was a plus. The elevator was broke for the entire 5 days that we were there which only left one elevator for the whole hotel and the stairways were not accessible unless there was a fire or an emergency which I don't think they should be able to do. Housekeeping came once and didn't clean anything, only changed the towels and took the tip and left piles of dirty linens from the beds on the dresser. The drinks were extremely over priced...almost $50 for a house wine and gin and tonic at the poolside bar. And parking was $44 a day which they don't tell you about in advance. But the absolute worse part of our entire experience was when me and my family were sitting in an area outside the hotel and a security guard came out to run us off because the area wasn't for us, but "for guests of the hotel only". I strongly feel that if were were not a Black family we would never have been approached in such a disrespectful way. The experience disgusted me and humiliated my family. Needless to say we will never be returning and I will be sure to let my friends and family know to spend their money elsewhere. read more
